Delete widgets in dashboard

I cannot seem to remove widgets that I have added to my dashboard. Also, I am looking for a good tutorial for how best to use the dashboard. I'm still getting used to my MacBook Pro and all its capabilities.

Maybe this link might help you:

    Dashboard has stopped working. The App will open, but none of the widgets will function. I've deleted widgets & added new ones, but they also will not work.

    I get the "License has stopped working" mesages too.
    We have a MacbookPro at home. There are two user-acounts on this mac, one for my wife and one for myself. This way we keep our personal stuff (e-mail, files, settings, dropbox, desktop clutter etc) separated. "Fast user switching" is enabled to easily switch to your personal account.
    Now when I open Photoshop I might get the dreaded "License has stopped working" message. This will happen if Photoshop is left open in her account. So I'll have to log into her account, close Photoshop, go back into my own acount and open Photoshop again.
    I should not get this message since Photoshop is not part of a particular user account, it is installed in the "Applications" folder which is accesible to all users.
    What makes it even more annoying is that I get the "License has stopped working" message on trying to open Photoshop even when Photoshop is closed in in the other acount, but Illustrator is opened.
    This makes no sense since we bought Photoshop and Illustrator CS3 as separate programs, not as a part of the Creative Suite.
    I did not report this to Adobe yet but it wil do that now.

  • How can I permanently delete widgets in Mountain Lion?

    I'm having trouble permanently deleting widgets. Does anyone know how to do this in Mountain Lion?

    what happens when you click the minus sign in the lower left hand corner of dashboard and then click on "x" on the widget you wish to delete?

  • How do I delete widgets?

    I really need to know how to delete widgets, they are taking up way too much room on my startup disk. Please tell me. I really can't tell you what OS I have.
    iBook G4   Mac OS 9.0.x

    Widgets that you have installed are located in (Your Home Folder)>Library>Widgets. Tiger pre-installed widgets are in System>Library>Widgets. The best way I've found to manage widgets is with a little Preference Pane called, appropriately enough, "Widget Manager", which can be downloaded for free in the OSX Widgets downloads section here at this site (http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/business/widgetmanager.html) or at VersionTracker.com - this creates a selection in your System Preferences menu which allows you to activate, deactivate, and delete widgets, and forces a restart of Dashboard when necessary after making changes.
    To identify your OS version just pull down the Apple Menu at the top left of your screen and select "About This Mac". If you click on the "Version 10.4.x" text in the resulting pop up window it will also reveal the build # and serial # of your computer should you ever need them; click on the "More Info" button to open System Profiler for more in-depth info on your system (RAM, connected devices, installed components, etc).

  • Is it possible for widgets in dashboard to float over other windows?

    I'm trying to assess features in Mavericks in comparison to Snow Leopard (the OS I'm most familiar with).  I usually read the Missing Manual for the new OSes, but haven't gotten to all areas yet - it's a big book!
    Is it possible for widgets in dashboard to float over other windows?
    I want to be able to see the calculator widget for example while I'm also working in a Bills template document in Word, or over my back account page while viewing in Safari.  Or look at words in Thesaurus while viewing a document I'm writing in Word, or even an email in Mail.  In OS 10.6 widgets on the dashboard float above the other windows, but I can see them both at the same time.  It looks like Dashboard is all by itself in Mavericks.  Is this the case and the only way to view widgets now, is by themselves in their own isolated environment?  Any work around?
    Thanks.

    You can assign a "hot corner" with System preferences > Mission Control > Hot corners to bring up your dashboard anytime you want quickly by moving the mouse to the corner.  Works really well.

  • Gmail Widget in Dashboard Simply Doesn't Work

    Hi,
    I just purchased a MacBook Pro. Everything is great, but for some reason the Gmail widget in dashboard simply will not work. It installs, but after I put in my email and password the gmail logo blinks and the window remains blank. I have tried downloading it and uninstalling it numerous times. This is a really useful widget as it will allow me to check my email at a glance and it is simply not working. Am I missing something?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

    im wondering if its a compatibility issue with 10.5.6? // i cant try it out now but i will later tonight /// try using mail untill then as long as you leave it open then it will put numbers on the dock icon and beep once when e-mail comes in.

  • How to delete the default dashboard of 'My Dashboard'

    I first added some contents on the default dashboard "My Dashboard", then I created a new dashboard "Products".
    After have done so, everytime when I log in to the system (Analytics) as Administrator, the dashboard for my first sight is "My Dashboard", if I want to check dashboard "Products", I have to click on the name of the dashboard to jump to that page.
    I am wondering whether the default "My Dashboard" can be deleted or hidden, can anyone let me know?
    I have found "Hide" option for the dashboard I created ("Products"), but for the default dashboard ("My Dashboard"), I can not find that option.
    Anything wrong? Or the default dashboard just can not be hidden or deleted in BIEE????

    Many thanks, Andrej.
    Already done that, now the default dashboard is "Products". However, the link for dashboard "My Dashboard" still exists on the top.
    In order to delete "My Dashboard" completely, I tried this:
    Settings -> Administration -> Manage Interactive Dashboards
    But I can only find "Products" dashboard listed there for modification or deletion, no "My Dashboard" dashboard.
    What shall I do to delete "My Dashboard" completely?

    Every time I click on a separate widget in dashboard, my window switches back to my desktop. How do I prevent this?
    Gets pretty annoying when I am switching from one sticky to another.

    That’s not a virus; it’s adware. Click here and follow the instructions, or if desired, run Adware Medic.

  • Download Widgets for Dashboard right from AppStore

    I think that it could be great that you can download widgets for dashboard right from the App Store on Mac OS X.
    With this great feature Apple will boost the popularity of widgets because right now if you want to install a widget you need to download it, unzip it and then install it another time, then you will see the keep it advice or remove.
    I love widgets and Apple need to do more about them, also by having a new section in the App Store only for Widgets there will be developers who will build better widgets and also you could pay for great widgets.
    I will send this suggestion to the suggestion email from Apple.

    rbtwrld,
    Sounds like a good idea!
    Instead of sending an email, try using Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback.

  • 8.8 Cockpit - Widget or Dashboard

    Does anyone have examples of producing widgets or dashboard utilizing SDK ?   I know there is a way to import packages into dashboards.
    Can you use the SDK to modify the look and feel of the cockpit, similar to what "CoreSuite" has done by adding "twitter" graphics and widgets, etc.
    Please post code examples, email or point me in the right direction.  I can see this is going to be very powerful and versatile, just the pack of punch that the "core" product needs.
    Regards,
    Eli

    Dear Eli Lawson,
    You cannot create dashboards by SDK.
    Additional documentation can be found inside the installation package
    Technologyia32ProgramExternalContentFrameworkDocs.zip
    Technologyia32ProgramExternalContentXcelsius.zipcom.sap.b1i.vplatform.scenarios.designvPac.sap.XcelsiusvPac.Pdf
    in the vPack.pdf you can find a complete guide how to use the B1ic using SAP B1 User Defined Queries. Also a a very useful when you export the SAP Provided dashboards to your computer and learn the structure.
    You have to install XCelsius software to do the dashboards, and of you are SAP Partner, you can find the NFR license key for the xCelsius application.
    Aslo some guides can be found about developing dashboards at  partner portal https://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/innovations

  • Can't add new Widgets to Dashboard on main user account

    I recently switched to a new MacBook Air and after the initial intstallation used migration assistent to move my old data to the MacBook Air. All works fine except the Dashboard. With the old useraccount (which is my main account) I can't add new widgets to the dashboard. When I download and install a new widget I can see it in the /user/library/widgets section, I can see it in the widget list in the dashboard but when I click on it or drag it up to the dashboard it closes the dashboard again.
    I tried adding a new user and in works fine in that new account.
    Here's what I did to try and solve it sofar:
    1. Repaired permissions
    2. Deleted the two .plist's in user/library/preferences
    3. Deleted the Cache in user/library/cache
    4. Checked the folder permissions in /user/library/widget and compared that with the newuser/library/widget
    5. Downloaded the 10.6.6. combo update and reinstalled
    This behaviour is with every new widget I tried to install.
    I tried to find similar behaviour using google but so far no luck. Any suggestions?

    You have hosed preferences in the main user account. Create a new admin user account, log into it, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option, recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.
    See http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4703015 for more details on this process.

  • Unit Converter Widget and Dashboard

    Hey
    I went to check how much $25 was in US Dollars from Australian Dollars, and i saw that the US dollars had moved from the top of the list right to the bottom, and it no longer gave a accurate result, it said $1AUD was = to 1 cent. So i tried moving it out of the dashboard folder and putting it back (in a desperate attempt to make it work) So i deleted it hoping i could just get it back from either the leopard disk or the tiger disk but i couldn't find it using Pacifist. So now I'm stuck without it and was hoping someone out there could let me know why it stuffed up in the first place and where i can get it back from.
    Thanks all who can help!

    This happened to me too, so I went and had a look at the unit convertor code, and fixed it.
    it's a pretty simple fix, you need to load up UnitConvertor.js from inside the widget bundle and find
    function populateUnitSelect(select), inside of which there is a sort function units.sort, replace its lines with this:
    units.sort(function (a, b) {
    if (a.iso == "USD") return -1;
    else if (b.iso == "USD") return 1;
    else if (a.name < b.name) return -1;
    else if (b.name < a.name) return 1;
    return 0;
    and it should work, It just ads an extra case for USD as b value.

    I presume you mean Dashboard.
    In your Applications folder you will find Dashboard.app
