Delete Windows protected folders?

Hi,
I have a Windows "My Documents" copied in my Mac, cause I did a Backup to a friend of mine, but the folder is protected and I can`t delete now. I`ve tried the "rm -fr"command, but I received the message: rm: Pasta Sem Título//Meus documentos/Minhas músicas: Operation not permitted
How can I fix this trouble? Please, help me

People, forget this, I`ve remembered to use the "sudo" before the command, and it`s done.

Hi,
I assume you mean "delete Windows folder on that external hard disk but still able to access media files". Yes if you delete that Windows folder, media files will still be there and accessable.
However, you may not able to delete the Windows folder as expected - you will receive permission error as system files cannot be directly deleted.
A proper solution is to copy all needed files (media files) to another place and format that external disk. You can move your files back to the new formatted disk.

Windows.old Folders ... Have You Ever Had A Use For Them?

That you know of. What if the old OS has a virus in it?
As I've said earlier - nuke it just to be safe.

Has anyone ever needed the Windows.old folders created when an OS is re-loaded or a different OS is loaded on a machine containing an existing OS?
Deleting them can free up Gigs of space and I do it when I have had to re-load an OS or have upgraded an existing OS.
Now, for a secondary question. I have a machine that has this Windows.old folder that I cannot delete. I have tried while logging into the machine as the Domain Admin and again as the machine local Admin. Each time I am being told I don't have the sufficient permissions to delete the folder. I have never had this issue happen before. The Windows.old folder is on a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine. Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

AR 11.0.3 "not responding" w/ Windows redirected folders

I recently installed Acrobat Reader 11.0.3 on some Windows 7 Enterprise x64 hosts that are members of a Windows Active Directory domain. When a domain user logs on to any of these computers, a group policy object (GPO) redirects some of the user's "roaming" folders (their Desktop, Documents, Music, etc.) to a file server located on the network. (Note that the GPO only performs folder redirection. Windows' "roaming profiles" feature IS NOT configured or being used.)
:: PROBLEM ::
When a domain user logs on to any of these computers and launches Acrobat Reader 11.0.3 and opens a PDF document, the application almost immediately (within a few seconds) becomes completely unresponsive and MS Windows displays a "(Not responding)" message on the application window's title bar. (NOTE: The application does not crash until a document is opened. If the user launches Reader from the Windows "Start" menu, the app is stable until a document is opened.)
When I log on to any of these computers using a local (non-domain) user account, Acrobat Reader doesn't crash; I can use it normally for hours on end.
Other applications installed on these hosts run normally WRT accessing the domain users' redirected folders (located on the network file server), so it doesn't seem to be a network issue, or Windows configuration issue, etc.
I've tried "Help > Repair Adobe Reader Installation". I've tried uninstalling, deleting all residual folders and temp files, and reinstalling. I've pulled the hard drive and virus scanned it with a "known clean" system; no problems found.

You sound like my IT guy. The app only fails when you try to VIEW a PDF file. The error information is as follows:

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.

10.6 - Can't Delete Share Point Folders

Hello Everyone. I am using Mac OS X Server, version 1.6 "hosted" by GoDaddy, so I don't have access to the Finder window to access files directly. All of my access has to be through Server Admin, Workgroup Manager, or an FTP client (in my case, Filezilla).
I am trying to find a way to delete share point folders, but have not been able to find any method other than using the Finder, which I do not have access to.
Any help, guidance, help would be greatly appreciated please.

What does this mean exactly? Is the Server at GoDaddy's offices and behind their firewall or do you mean the domain is with GoDaddy? Every OSX Server installation enables ssh and by default. If the Server is at a location and a network environment you're familiar with and assuming NAT and you're trying to do this remotely, simply open the relevant ports in the Firewall to forward external access to the Server's private IP address.
With Remote Management you have access to the Finder.
If the Server is using a Public IP address (unless you're aware of the risks I would not recommend this) then either establish an ssh or vnc connection. If you're going to attempt ssh you should be familiar with the command line. If this is not to your taste use vnc instead.

How do I delete develop preset folders?

I'm wondering if it's possible to delete the develop preset folders that come pre-installed with LR 4. I don't see them in the Develop Presets folder in Application Support/Adobe, and right-clicking on the folders themselves in LR doesn't provide the option to delete.
The folders I'm talking about are:
Lightroom B&W Filter Presets
Lightroom B&W Presets
Lightroom B&W Toned Presets
etc...

So there is no changes on Mac remove or not templates from develop module, folders is still present even if it's empty

An enduser presents a certificate from a CAC for authentication to our website.
They pick the Cert off the inserted CAC and submit it. Get logged into the application successfully.
The user removes the card form the reader and the SSO session times out.
In the same browser the user clicks log in with CAC and is not prompted for the cert this time the browser just goes ahead and presents the cached cert even though the card is no longer in the reader. The user logs in successfully.
The desired behavior would be to prompt the user for for a cert again obviously.
I am wondering how to turn this off as well.

To delete Windows.old file, you should use DISK cleanup in drive properties.
To delete the item during system boot option, WIN+R, open
Run, type msconfig, then Switch to boot. Delete the boot item which you want.

Creative Webcam Vista, Windows 98, Msn 7.0 and windows protection error

Hi I wondered if you could help me.
Im running Windows 98 and have a creative webcam installed. i connect it and it works fine in creative webcam monitor. but when in msn messenger 7.0 i click tools-----> webcam settings the computer then freezes up then after a few minutes the screen goes black with "Windows Protection Error Please Restart Your Computer" comes up.

Can you stop the service manually? I would suggest stopping the service, setting it Manual or Disabled, rebooting, and then run the uninstaller again. Hopefully you won't have to resort to uninstalling the service manually.

I deleted windows after i realised i wasnt enjoying using it at all and wasted my hard drive. I now decided that i want another OSX on there instead yet i have only allowed myself 10 gb on the partition. I have ben thru some programms but am struggling on making this partition bigger.
I only want it at 20gb but cant seem to make the partition bigger, only smaller or split it into further partition.
Is there a way to do this, i have all installation discs from original OSX so think this could help.
Any help please would be fantastic.

Hi, dragging the partition will only make smaller, not larger. In disk utility you can only split or make smaller the partitions. Yes i booted from installation disks also but still no help.
And Brody, I am willing to erase the disc completely, infact jus started doing a backup in order to do so but that failed also. And the information you gave on partition a hard drive, Although very simple and i already know how to do this, but it wont let me make the partition bigger, and i dont want to make a new partition, just enlarge the one i already have, which i dont see possible from disk utility.
Getting really frustrated now, even backing up is saying no to me. **** external being a douche.
I dont mind erasing the hard drive but surely this must be doable without deleting the secondary partition back t a single volume, and re partitioning into 2 volumes again.

I will explain step by step, to be sure that I am forgetting something or doing something wrong.
1-After assembled the system,turned on, went to the bios to do same basic changes(fsb=100, enable v8237 sata-ide controller, boot devices ,....)
2-boot from STARTUP disk (w98se), fidsk, format c.
3-Installed Windows 98se(at the end I got two yellow quetion mark, at device manager tab:PCI RAID CTRL and PCI UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS. Left as is and go fwd.
4-Installed VIA Chipset 4in1 drivers( w98se working fine, but still using windows default VGA driver)
5-HERE BEGIN THE PROBLEM..After install the driver for the video card(the last one downloaded from the site (http://www.xfxforce.com/product_view.php?sku=PVT34KNT), the system ask for reboot, and give a msg WINDOWS PROTECTION ERROR, YOU NEED RESTART YOU PC. the same happens if restart, from the cold.
6-For Troubleshooting purposes I did:
-Installed video card at ASUS BOARD A7S333, works fine with the same drive that failed before.
-Installed video driver before install 4in1. Still the same error.
note-every time I reinstall , I did a fresh install, means format c,boot from startup disk,install w98se from cd)
ANOTHER THING:Once time, just after install w98se, I installed Partition Magic 8, with intention of create an extended partition to copy all necessary programs in there, that way avoiding changing CD´s anyway, for my surprise Partition Magic didn´t recognize the sata drive that is normally recognize by windows(PM8 program itself is good , I am sure that)
What is be happening? It looks like same conflict issue between my mobo and Nvidia video driver!!!! Did I something wrong?
and about PM8 should I do anything related to the drivers or bios, before load PM8?

Windows 98/98se doesen't support more than 512 Mb. memory. Take off one module and all should go OK.

Deleting Windows Xp

I was trying to install Windows Xp in bootcamp with a 5gb hardrive partition space. I installed it as NSTF and it worked fine, but when i restarted it just automatically booted in Windows Xp, and i can't figure out a way to get back to OSX and delete windows. I already tried to use the OSX install disc but the computer doesn't run the cd. Does anyone have a way to help me, because I am stuck with Windows XP. It would also be nice if there was a way to get my files, but its also ok to just wipe the hard drive and have only OSX.

Hold down the Option key during boot and select your Leopard partition.
If you decide to keep Winders, in the System Preferences->Startup Disk select MacOSX as the default.

Accidentally deleted all my folders

I had my blackberry as well as my memory stick connected to my pc . I wanted to clear out my memory stick and unfortunately in a moment of complete distraction I deleted all my folders off my BB! I could kick myself!! So now when I connect my BB to my pc all the folders appear as shortcuts and are only 1KB in size. I can take pictures but it does not save them, I cant take videos or voicenotes at all. I cant copy and paste anything into them. If the folders now appear as shortcuts surely the original folder can be restored? Is this possible?
My contacts, email and IM settings remain the same - Its just the "Media" I am having a problem with! When I called our service provider I was told that I needed a new memory card and that will restore all the settings. That does not make sense to me.
I tried to update the software on my phone but it did not fix the problem as I had hoped.
Any suggestions how to proceed?

Hi Tanea,
If you deleted all of your folders from your BlackBerry media card, all data inside those folders would have been removed as well. If your folders were empty and you just want the folder structure back, you can format your media card under Options>Memory, press the menu key then Format.
