Delete workbooks

Hi Gurus,
I want to erase 2 workbooks a query, but since BEX analyzer can not because I do not appear.
However, the repository of metadata one of these books work exists in active version and the other does not even exist ... and because I need to delete this retringidos creating ratios calculated and duplications within the query.
There is a transaction or table where you can see these workbooks and removal?
Greetings and thanks.

HI,
One way in the Bex Analyzer is to click the Open button and choose Workbooks...you can select and delete (delete button) from the Favorites or Roles folder views.
You will be able to delete the workbook if you have proper authorization.
You can do it in bex analyzer-open-workbooks and select the workbook and delete clicking on the delete icon.
Hope it helps..
Regards
Raj

  • Unable to delete workbooks in Discoverer Viewer

    Hi All,
I could not find any option in Viewer to delete the workbook created by me. Does that mean, users can only save workbooks but cannot delete them in Viewer?
    Thanks.

    Hi
RE: Oracle gotta see what mess is created after saving the workbooks in Viewer I agree but you are going to have to take some of the responsibility because you allowed the Viewer users to have access to the save privilege.
Please see Russ' excellent comments. Russ and I see eye to eye on this and I endorse his comments 100% - you should not allow Viewer users to save - period. Russ and I have over 20 years of experience on Discoverer between us and rarely do our opinions differ by very much. This is not surprising because if there's a right way to do something - there's a right way. Sometimes there's an alternative way but rarely are there two right ways.
The right way to manage Viewer is to withdraw the save privilege from the Viewer users. This of course would not prevent a Plus user from saving in Viewer but it will stop the mess that you are seeing today. Thus, the solution is not to add the delete functionality but to withdraw the save functionality.
In my experience, Viewer usage should be high, somewhere between a 70:30 to 90:10 ratio when compared to Plus. Because of this high number of users, it is also vitally important that they get trained well on the Viewer tool. Too many companies fail to invest into Viewer training and they suffer greatly because of it. In a lot of companies they assign the training to one of the Plus users, someone who a) is not a trainer, and b) does not know the Viewer tool inside out and back to front.
I'm not for one second saying that you are in this situation, just saying that this is what typically happens. The end result though is user dissatisfaction which leads to misuse of the system and ultimately on to disuse of the system, with everyone either going back to their old Excel way of working or being granted access to Plus.
You're definitely on the right path if you are using Viewer so please keep going. Its a great tool for what it does - viewing of reports. You just need to reel in some of that power.
    Best wishes

  • Delete workbooks in Discoverer 10.2 - URGENT

    Hey
I need help with a problem I am facing.
In our upgrade from 9.2 on an old server to 10.2 on a new server, I exported all the Workbooks that existed i the old server. They were made by different users. And as you know, it is only the owner of the Workbookt that can delete it.
    My quistion is :
    - Is it posible to create a new "super"-user that can delete any Workbook it may want to, even though "super"-user is not it original owner?
    - Is it posible - on a way or other - to delete a Workbook I want, even thougt I am not the original owner?
I should mention that I tried to create a user who got admin-priviliges but it did'nt help. I could't delete a Workbook that this user did'nt make.
Thank you for your help !

I don't think the superuser notion is an option (and if I am wrong, I am sure I will be corrected).
You could always start deleting rows from the EUL5_DOCUMENTS table (but it is not recommended, and could invalidate your support contract).
Are the users still active? If so, you could try an approach where you tell them they have to get rid of X reports by a certain date. If they haven't, remove their privs to create a report until they comply.
If they are not active, recreate the account (or have the dba change the password and allow you to log on), and either transfer the report, or delete them.

Excel on imac.  Have deleted/trashed workbooks from Finder and they have disappeared from the finder listing but the frozen icon remains on the Excel Workbook Gallery Under my Recent Workbooks.  Clicking on the empty icon which is still titled shows that they are in trash but I can't get rid of the icon which is a waste of space as well as annoying.  Help - Grandma is screaming!

  • Delete workbook from repository from Bex Excel Interface

    Hello,
Is it possible to delete a workbook from the repository from  Bex Excel Macro.
Yesterday I have lost a workbook (is not anymore in the table RSRWORKBOOK) but the program RRMX_WORKBOOKS_DELETE was not used.
Since it was transported I have re run the Transport order so everything is fine but I can not explain.
    thanks for help

    Hi,
A workbook can be deleted using function module RRMX_WORKBOOKS_DELETE (execute using Transaction SE37 and Test). Parameter workbook ID (I_WORKBOOKID) and object version (I_OBJVERS) must be specified.
check this sap help link....it might help you....

  • How to delete more than one workbook from command line

Hi, I'd like to delete more than one workbook from command line:
The following syntax, it doesn't work....but I followed the manual instructions:
    dis51adm.exe /connect eul/eul@uatdb /delete /workbook "ALE_TEST_1, ALE_TEST_2" /eul eul /log D:\Ale\delete.log
    where:
    eul/eul@uatdb: is the db’s schema/user where the EUL is installed;
/delete "ALE_TEST_1, ALE_TEST_2": is the command to delete the workbooks, specified inside the “” (with the relative path)
/log D:\Ale\delete.log: is the command to write a log’s file named “delete.log” to track the action
    The log file says:
    22/4/2008 4:00:26 μμ
    dis51adm.exe /connect /delete /workbook ALE_TEST_1, ALE_TEST_2 /eul eul /log D:\Ale\delete.log
Document ALE_TEST_1, ALE_TEST_2 not found in EUL.
Internal EUL Error: ObjectNotFound - Can't find EUL element
There are 0 eul elements to be deleted.
    Completed deleting eul elements.
    22/4/2008 4:00:29 μμ
Anyone can tell me how is the right syntax ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

    Hi Rod
I was coming to that conclusion myself but wanted to wait until the other avenues had been exhausted first - aka making sure of the workbook names.
I checked through all of the command line documentation and read nothing which clearly indicated that only one workbook could be processed at a time, other than the fact that the syntax says workbook and not workbooks, which could be a big clue.
I think you are right though in that it has to be one at a time, which would be a pain.

  • Options to cleanup and delete Discoverer workbooks

Currently users have access to create Discoverer reports in Production and there are now 6,000 workbooks. We want to clean up these workbooks by deleting and retiring the ones that are not needed.
What are the recommended options to be able to perform this cleanup? We have a list of workbook names by user that can be retired and want to avoid having to manually select the workbooks for deletion. Is there a script that can be run?

    Hi,
There are some scripts posted in this forum (e.g. Re: How to delete Discoverer reports from database? and Re: delete shared workbooks when owner no longer available which delete workbooks from the EUL. This is good way to go if this is a one off exercise.
However, a longer term and more flexible solution is to develop a workbook which allows users to delete workbooks from the EUL. You will need to implement a delete_workbook function and map the function into the EUL. The workbook can then allow the user to select a set of workbooks and then delete all these workbooks from the EUL. You can build security into the delete_workbook function so that for example, users can only delete workbooks that they own, administrators can delete other users workbooks, library workbooks cannot be deleted etc.

  • Delete the reporting results from the workbook

    Hi,
How telete the reporting results from the workbook  via the BEX menu functionality

That functionality is not available in the Bex 7 Analyzer, just in the Bex 3.x functionality. To delete workbook results, we simply select the rows of data (but NOT the titles) and delete the rows in excel. Then save the workbook.
If you delete the titles you will delete the analysis grid, and you will have to recreate it.
You can also change the variable values, click "Cancel" and the workbook then shows no results for any query related field. However, this includes the navigation panes and text elements, which produces a rather blank looking workbook.

  • Delete shared workbooks when owner no longer available

We need to delete some old workbooks shared by a user who can no longer access the schema used to create the tables (due to legal issues). The only way I know of to do this is to grant the access back temporarily and have him unshare everything.
Is there another way of doing this without his involvement? He is still an active employee so resetting his password and signing on as him isn't an option for me. When this came up I revoked his privileges to the roles that contained that data, perhaps I missed a step there since his reports are all still out there and accessible.
    Thanks,
    Janet

    Hi,
The only practical way to delete workbooks in this situation is to delete them from the EUL. If you have an apps mode EUL then this script will remove the workbooks. You will have to modify the script for a database mode EUL.
    -- Parameters: 1 EUL eg EUL_US
    -- 2 Application username
-- 3 Workbook developer key, can be % to delete all workbooks
    DEFINE _EUL = &1
    DEFINE _USR = "&2"
    DEFINE _WBK = "&3"
    delete
    from &_EUL..eul5_access_privs
    where gd_doc_id in
    (select doc_id from &_EUL..eul5_documents, &_EUL..eul5_eul_users, apps.fnd_user
    where doc_eu_id = eu_id
    and doc_developer_key like '&_WBK'
    and user_name = '&_USR'
    and eu_username = '#'||user_id)
    delete
    from &_EUL..eul5_documents
    where doc_developer_key like '&_WBK'
    and doc_eu_id = (select eu_id from &_EUL..eul5_eul_users, apps.fnd_user
    where user_name = '&_USR'
    and eu_username = '#'||user_id)
    commit;

  • Can workbook owned by another user be deleted from the database

    Hello all,
We are wanting to know if a workbook can be deleted from the database by someone other than the owner. We have a user that was once with the organization that created and uploaded several Discoverer reports to the database. However, they are no longer with the organization. If a change needs to be made to one of their reports, we can download a copy and modify it. However, when you upload the report and keep the same name, it creates a copy of the report in the database but now owned being by the new user. When users using Viewer retrieve a list of reports from the database, they are seing two reports with the same name in the listing, but owned by different people. We could always rename the new report. However, we would like to 'clean up' the production database by purging any obsolete or older verision reports regardless of who they are owned by.
Thanks in advance for any input

    Hi,
Yes we can do this, to the best of my knowledge here is my input: There are two ways to do this
    1) a) If that workbook has been shared with your id thne login as you in Discoverer Plus then open workbook and using SAVE AS and save the workbook and it wil save under your id.
    b) follow the below command to delete the workbook owned by old user
2 )-->Login as EUL user (ex: EUL10_US) in Discoverer Administrator and export the workbook owned by the owner (no longer exist in the company: abc.workbookname) and save in your local drive
-->Login as new user in Administrator and import the workbook from the local drive
-->using below command delete the workbook owned by old user (*abc.workbookname*) by running at command prompt.
    dis51adm.exe /connect eul10_us/xxxxx@DBname /delete /workbook "abc.workbookname" /eul eul10_us /log C:\oracle\BIToolsHome_1\bin\Delete_wb_oatr.log
Now you will have only one copy of the workbook in the database.
    hope this helps you.

  • How to delete a Bex Query

    Dear All,
I am trying to delete a bex query using tcode RSZDELETE  and i also tried deleting directly from table RSZCOMPDIR. i am unable to delete.....is there any other option??????????/
    Regards,
    SV BHALAJI

Are you sure there are no work books build on this query and check if any of the other query variables etc are used in your query which you want to delete?
    1. use transaction RSZDELETE
    2. run program COMPONENT_REORG
    3. go to query designer open the query and say delete.
To delete workbook .......SE37 > RRMX_WORKBOOKS_DELETE, but to use this you will need to technical names of the workbooks.

  • Deleting Discoverer report from Admin

    Hi,
We have exported a discoverer report using Admin from a database D1.
Then imported that report using admin in another database D2.
But i couldn't see the report in the desktop of database D2....don't know why....
Can anybody sugggest a way to delete this report from Admin of database D2 ?
    Thank you

    Thanks for the reply.
Actually we were not able to see the report in the desktop though we tried in different ways.
So we did the following to delete the report from Admin using command prompt as follows
    dis4adm.exe /connect <eulowner>/<eulowner password>@<database> /delete /workbook "<workbook name>"
where "<workbook name>" is either "EUL Data Definition" or "Query Statistics".
