Deleted 40Gb.  Now TC is backing up +106Gb...?

I ran a full backup on Saturday. Incremental backups over the past few days have been running 10-20 Mb max. This afternoon, I deleted 40Gb worth of files 9actually, moved them to an external HDD). No changes to speak of, just deletes. Now I notice that TC is backing up 106Gb. WTH? The total used area on the HDD is 140Gb, so it's not doing a full backup. What's going on? Shouldn't it just be doing an incremental backup and recording that 40Gb of files are now gone?

After further investigation, it may have been a result of changing permissions on my second partition. I'm just going to delete the original backuop and start over with a new one.
