Deleted 500 songs when iTunes match installed

I have just purchased iTunes match with the understanding that the music i have purchased would now be accessible from al my devices. However, although this has happened music that i have downloaded via CD's have been deleted off of both my phone and macbook. I do not have these CD's anymore so effectively i have lost over 500 songs on my phone. How can this be fixed?

Hi,
iTunes match scans you iTunes library on your computer. Did match complete its scan of your library on your computer.
Match does not have the capability to delete tracks automatically from your computer? Have you used finder to locate them? Do you have a back up on an external hard drive.

  • How do I delete/hide songs from iTunes Match? (More info inside)

How do I delete/hide songs from iTunes Match? When I mark them, and delete them (and yes, I mark the box where it says delete from the cloud as well), they just reappear once I sync with itunes match again. (the symbol available for download appears). Is there a way to completely remove the tracks?
(And no, I don't just want to hide them (in the menu), since the tracks will appear in my iPhone anyways).

    Hey imol92,
You may have already looked at this; http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4915
It is all the public information on removing songs that you have uploaded to the iTunes Cloud.

  • How can i delete unwanted songs from iTunes match?

With a limit on how many songs that can be uploded to iTunes match, how can i remove songs that i didn't want uploaded to the Cloud?

Right click on the song on the computer your music is on and delete the song and make sure you check the box that says delete from iCloud.
If you want to delete the song from iCloud you also have to delete the song from the library that you are syncing from.

  • ITunes Match - Greyed out songs when iTunes restarted

I am using iTunes 12 (latest version) on a Macbook 2010 running Yosemite 10.10.1
I do not store any music locally, and access around 2000 songs in iTunes Match. When I turn on iTunes Match, all songs display fine in iTunes.
The problem - When I quit iTunes and relaunch it, the songs are all there, however they are Greyed out and do not respond to any clicking or playing. This results in having to turn off and on iTunes Match every time I open iTunes, extremely annoying.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Hopefully when you deleted them locally, you did not check the "delete also from iTunes Match."  That said, while I don't right-click, I do believe that if the item is grayed out, and it has a cloud icon next to it with an arrow, it's telling you that it's available for download.  If that's what you're seeing, then just click on the cloud icon to download.

Which particular .msi file is the message going on to say can't be found? (Several different msi files can be mentioned in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.)

I have seen this page, but it seems that this involves deleting songs from my iTunes library in order to remove them from iTunes Match. I want to keep them in my iTunes library, but not in iTunes match (I am over my limit for songs in iTunes Match, and would like to decide which songs to keep in iTunes Match).

Your MBP will support a 3T HDD provided it is formatted correctly and has sufficient power.  Most large HDDs require an outboard power source.
When you delete songs from iTunes you will get a message if you want to send it to trash.  If you send it to trash, space will be freed up only when you empty trash.  An individual song does not consume much space so if your HDD is becoming full, more drastic action s should be considered, such as moving an entire file to an external HDD.
    Ciao.

  • HT4914 can you download songs from itunes match from the cloud to your iPhone ie for times when you dont have internet connection

can you download songs from itunes match from the cloud to your iPhone ie for times when you dont have internet connection?

Unless you have an Internet connection you cannot access iCloud. You can download your music from iCloud to store permanently on your iPhone, but only when you have an Internet connection to do so.

  • I want to delete some songs from iTunes but no delete button appears when i right click or when i try to delete it from edit. what can i do?

I want to delete some songs from iTunes but no delete button appears when i right click or when i try to delete it from edit. what can i do?

If the songs are downloaded into your iTunes library (i.e. they don't have the cloud icon against them) then you should be able to delete them by selecting them and pressing the delete button on your keyboard.
If they do have the cloud icon then they are in the cloud - you can turn off the showing of all icloud music via the 'Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases' on the Store tab in iTunes > Preferences (command-comma), or you can hide individual tracks and/or albums so that they don't show in the cloud : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.

  • When I try to add a song ti iTunes match it said (This item is not eligible for iCloud.)Why

When I try to add a song ti iTunes match it said (This item is not eligible for iCloud.)Why??

Sorry, Maybe I didn't explain that correctly.
The song has to be available to purchase in the iTunes Store in order for it to be used in Match.
So if you purchased a song from another source or imported it from a CD it  sould show up in Match!
however if say you purchased or imported a rare mix CD, that would not show up.
that is the first step to check anyway.

  • Replacing a Broken Song in iTunes Match...

I ran into a problem with a song in iTunes Match (thankfully, and hopefully, just the one...) where, 25 seconds into the song, there are three or four little glitch pops, like when the song file was created, it was reading a scratch on the CD or something. Normally that's not an issue: delete the song, reupload the song. Presto.
Only, with iTunes Match, that doesn't seem to be the solution. As with iTunes Match on everything else, logic is never the solution. But I digress.
    Here are my steps.
    1. 'What the...? The Beatles "Wait" has a glitch on it.'
    2. Delete the song from computer and from iCloud.
    3. Go get Rubber Soul. Check CD for scratches. None. Perfectly clean like the first rain of the season in the stillness of a clear, cool dawn. Reupload 'Wait.'
    4. Check new actual file of 'Wait' before uploading it to iCloud. Sounds fine! Thumbs up all around!
    5. Update iTunes Match.
    6. Song still sounds fine on computer—even after deleting it from the computer and streaming it from iCloud. But the fun isn't over. Not yet.
    7. Check iPad. 'Wait' is gone before update, new 'Wait' is there after update.
    8. New 'Wait' has the glitch.
    9. Repeat steps 1 through 8, get same results.
    10. Change name of file and song, try to trick iCloud into thinking it's a new song or something. 'Wait' still has the glitch.
    11. Angrily make sandwich. Insult cat. Think about other things. Can't think about other things.
    12. Use MediaHuman's Audio Converter to make a new file of the song with a new name and everything. 'Wait' still has the glitch.
    13. Delete song again from computer and iCloud, wait (no pun intended) for like a day. In case it, you know, needs to think about what it's done.
    14. Repeat steps 3 through 8. And lo, it maintains the glitch.
    15. Try downloading the song on the computer. Because remember Step 6?
    16. Yeah, turns out Step 6 was a dirty lie. The song I downloaded to the computer has the glitch.
    17. Say all of the swear words. Say, 'I don't care about first world problems.' Say, 'Okay, I totally care about first world problems.'
    18. Swallow pride.
    19. Ask for help online.
Help. Help me. How does work. Can't... I've...never felt so...powerless before... need structure...need order...need...con...trol.........I die!

    Hi,
I have just checked my copy of "Wait". The Matched version has the fault as described by you. It appears on my downloaded copy on my computer as well as when I stream it from my Ipad.
I used a CD which dates back to when the CD was originally released. I have had match for almost 2 years and "Wait" was matched with the version that was available in irunes store at the time.
I believe that newer Remasters are now available and this a possible reason for older disc not being matched with those versions.
Anyway, I have just purchased "Wait" from itunes Store - plays fine and has better sound quality!!  However, it seems that the original is still on Apple servers, thus matching with faulty version.

  • Deleting a song from iTunes library and hard drive on Itunes 11.0

how do i delete a song from iTunes library and hard drive on Itunes 11.0 at the same time.

    Hello CleveCo, Inc
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
At some point in time, you may have selected the option to prevent that dialog from appearing again when trying to delete tracks from your library. To reset all of iTunes warning dialogs, click the Edit drop down menu and choose Preferences from the list (on a Mac it is *iTunes -> Preferences* ). When the window pops up, head over to the Advanced tab and click the *Reset Warnings* button. Then quit iTunes and relaunch it. That do the trick for you?

  • Downloading a missing song with iTunes Match

On my second computer I had downloaded a song and it was deleted. iTunes now displays the missing file question mark. There is no option to download or play the song from iTunes Match. My assumption, is that if I delete the track it will delete from Match also. Is that correct? and also is there a way to download the song without rebuilding my iTunes library file ?

If you delete it, it will ask you if you want to delete from Match, select no. After that you will be able to redownload from the cloud hitting the cloud icon (if it was matched/uploaded to cloud in the first place).

  • Ipod deleted existing songs when performing a sync

    Hi,
My Ipod deleted existing songs when performing a sync. Please advise on how to restore the files that have been deleted from the IPod.
    Best Regards,
    John Joseph

    Hey there,
How do you have your iPod set to sync music? Are the 825 songs still taking up space as other on your iPod? To look, just head in the your iPod's settings and click on About to view details.
I would try restoring the iPod in iTunes and setting it up to "automatically sync" with your iTunes library. Also, if you have it set to sync all checked songs and videos that each song you are trying to sync has a check mark next to it and that disk use is not enabled on it.
    Hope this helps.
