Deleted account - lost emails
I deleted an email account as the email address no longer exists and Mail was trying to send and receive (and failing so showing an error all the time). It's lost all emails too that were saved. No doubt they're still on the hard drive somewhere - how can I find and restore the emails? I don't need the account details - it's a dead account.

If it was a POP account or a closed IMAP account, then their space has been returned to OSX to use up.
It may be possible to recover some erased ones, but you must quit using the Computer immediately, because the OS will think it can write to those freed blocks on the disk.
Either boot this one in Target mode...

It happens, especially just switching from MS windows. Maybe the warning just unreadable as any other dialog box.
And if I read some forums, this problem is always happen, why did the developers of Mail.app do nothing with it?

Mail deleted account lost inbox and sent mail
I was editing an account with on IT(not a MAC user) person yesterday to check my work mail from a diferent server. In the process my old work account got deleted so I lost all of my incoming and sent mail from the account that was deleted.
After that happened I started reading info on mail accounts and it says that will happen.
The question is is there any way to recover those email? I purchased Prosoft data recovery II today and have been looking thru recovered files but can not find what I am looking for.Since you’ve already read other threads on this subject, I’ll spare you the details.
If the messages are not on the server, and you don’t have a backup, your only option in the case of Mail 2.x is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. -
HELP: I created mailbox (duplicate), then deleted original & lost emails
Late tonight I decided to change a mailbox name to all caps. I did it incorrectly selecting 'New Mailbox' and used a duplicate name. Afterwards I saw the original mailbox still existed (it appeared gray colored) and looked to contain identitcal subfolders only and no email. The newly created mailbox (blue colored) appeared with identically named subfolders which I opened to spot check and they appeared to contain all the emails. Thinking everything had been transfered to the new (blue) mailbox I deleted the original (gray) mailbox. Of course the gray mailbox diappeared as expected, but what I didn't expect was that it would take everything in the new blue mailbox with it. Can someone tell me if I've lost my emails completely? If so, do you know how I can retrieve them? Thanks.
Power Mac G4 350Mhz AGP Mac OS X (10.4)Each custom "On My Mac" mailbox is stored as a folder with a .mbox extension in the filesystem, located in HOME/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Under normal circumstances, you cannot have two items within the same folder in the Finder whose names differ in case only. It looks like Mail got confused by what you did (I would consider this a bug). The two mailboxes in Mail probably referred to the same physical folder in the filesystem, and deleting one caused both to be lost.
If your messages are still there, they should be in a Messages folder within the *.mbox folder. If not, then you know now how important it is to have a good backup strategy in place -- for some reason that escapes me, most people learn this the hard way, so you're not alone if that's your case as well.
If the messages aren't there and you don't have a backup, your only option is to try using a data recovery tool. I say try because I have yet not seen a single report of someone having success recovering deleted Mail 2.0 messages. Stop using your computer to avoid overwriting the deleted files if you want to go that route. -

How do I delete an email account from the list of email accounts listed in the Alarms field of a new iCal event or task?
More specifically, when I add a new event and select the Alarm to notify me via email, it displays three email accounts, but one of these accounts is no longer active and so I want to remove or delete it from the list. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

For certain events I want to send eMail notifications to my wife. Am I supposed to add her eMail address to my personal "Me" card? That seems odd. So how do I send notifications to her?

iCloud is not a backup system and trying to use it as such will not work (as you see) do you have copies of your contacts anywhere else? -
I deleted my old Email and only used my new Email to set up the Mail app on my laptop. And the old Email is completely dead, hotmail.com says the Email no longer excists when I try to sign back in to it however my Emails remain saying 'Sent from Jordan [*old Email*].
I can't find a solution!!If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do. -
Help Please, I sold my iphone 4 to my neighbor after I restored it to factory settings. I just bought a new iphone 5 and decided to check out the icloud "stuff' so that I can use 'find my iphone' because I have 2 kids. I went to check out my icloud on my imac and in the address bar put icloud.com then signed in, double clicked on mail went accounts then clicked on the gear in the right hand corner and there it was. My neighbor had his email in the icloud and there absolutely was no way to delete his info off of my new phone. I guess once the first person enters their info you absolutely cant get rid of it. you can get rid of aliases but just not the original one. WHY!! Is there any brilliant, wonderful,generous person out there that would know how to delete him from my account. The genius bar said that they've never seen this before. If someone can help I'm taking the info to the apple stores that I went to so that I can teach them how to do it. Of course, I will tell them who showed me. I give you my word.
As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account. It's assigned when the account is created. But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password. Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't. Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it. If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you. -
Cant get into email account all of a sudden. Tried shutting down, deleted account and then opened new account....get into mail....says there are messages but they have no content, cant, delete them or even get into them....help!!! oh and when I go throug HOTMAIL on safari I have no problems
