Deleted application shows up in Finder Places

I have deleted the application iSquint ( using AppCleaner) but a "greyed" out folder for iSquint appears in my Finder window under the PLACES heading. I cannot click on the iSquint icon (looks like a document icon with the top corner turned down). I have reinstalled iSquint and deleted again with the same result. I have rebooted the mac with no change. I have deleted the finder plist file and rebooted the finder, with no change.
Where can I find this file to delete?
Thanks for any assistance.

If you reinstall iSquint is the icon in the sidebar no longer gray? Then that means it has re-linked to the app. Try dragging it away from the Sidebar while the app is still installed. THEN uninstall the app.

How do I get my applications to stop showing .app after their name? For example, Safari shows up as Safari.app in Finder and in my Applications folder as with all of my other applications.

In the Finder, choose Finder -> Preferences, click Advanced and uncheck the box labeled "Show all filename extensions".

I'm in the same boat as you -- except that I manage both a school lab (volunteer job) and macs in the enterprise (pay job).  What I think we need is the Education Volume Purchasing Program
    http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/faq.html
Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software.  (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.)  The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance.  I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers.  When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install.  We did!  But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them!

  • Deleted account shows as only account in finder

I just had a new hard drive installed in my late 2008 vintage black MacBook. As instructed by the shop, after restoring my setup from Time Machine, I deleted the account created by the shop.
Now, however, only the old account shows in the finder. That is, the Accounts panel in System Preferences shows Eric Weir and Guest Account as the only available accounts. When I last logged in those were the only available accounts as well.
In /Users Finder, however, the only account displayed is ericweir1, the account created by the shop and that I deleted.
What's going on? How can I correct the situation.
    Thanks,
    Eric Weir

Problem solved by creating a new account, deleting the previously restored account, and redoing the restoration from the Time Machine backup.

  • Deleted applications

i was using blackberry application for syncing my old blackberry mobile. I the application but still activity monitor shows some processes going on in background utilising memory etc. lately i am getting messages as memory is less.
how should i control the deleted applications from utilising the memory or disk space etc.

    Contact the developers.
    Search your drive.
You may need to do the download thing repeatedly, also check your download folder and see if you have the installer .dmg files for any of the delted ones, and possibly the uninstallers.
The best way is to use the uninstaller, check the developers web sites, some come as a bundle like Apple applications, and when you drag the application to the trash it is all gone. But many 3rd party applications need to use the included unistaller that comes on the .dmg install package.
You can try doing a Spotlight search and see if locates anything, as well as searching thru all the files for pieces, they can be spread all over the place. Check thru the home, and HD, system libraries for related files
There are some 3rd party applications, that claim to remove applications fully, but I think you need to have the application to have it find the pieces.
Maybe something like this may be of some help, I know nothing about these types of applications, as I have never had use for them.
    http://appcleaner.en.softonic.com/mac
This is not a recommendation, just an idea for you to do some research.
My first step would be to get in contact with the developers and see what they have to say.
    Hope this helps

  • Folders not showing up in Finder?

I've recently bought an iMac (21.5") and have been transferring all my music from the old PC to it via an external hard drive (format: MS-DOS (FAT32), 1tb).
I've noticed that some folders just don't show up in Finder. I have no idea why - they are exactly the same as every other folder on the hard drive ie. a folder containing an album with mp3s (same format of audio as all the other folders). It's definitely not a space problem.
It's a real nuisance as there may be more folders that haven't showed up that I'm not aware of (I only found out by chance that some were missing when I was specifically looking for them), I have a LOT of music.
Note: the folders show up when plugged into the pc.
Some help around this issue would be great. I have tried verifying/repairing the hard drive via Disk Utility, and deleting & re-adding the albums from the pc to the hard drive again. They still don't show up. (they're not hidden either). I also googled but couldn't find anything.
I wasn't sure whether to post this under the iMac or the OS section.. I'm running Lion 10.7.1 if it helps. Hopefully someone will be able to help me!

Ok, that worked to see hidden files, but the folders still didn't show up. (Not surprised, I didn't think they were hidden anyway).
This is such a bizarre issue! I renamed the folders to all plain English letters instead of the original names which included some foreign letters (I did this via the pc), and now they show up when the hard drive is plugged into the mac. So I think I'll just leave them like that, copy them to the mac hard drive and rename them back to the original names later. It's still strange that this happened in the first place though. Now I'll have to check every folder with foreign characters on the pc and do the same thing. (sigh)
Thanks for your help. If you have any more suggestions please do let me know! Hopefully there is an explanation/easier way around this.
    Christina

  • Deleting application results in ORA-03113 error

I'm having trouble deleting applications from my workspace. Every time I attempt to delete an application, I get an ORA-03113 error.
It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I choose to include the Application Definition or Supporting Objects when deleting.
If I cancel and keep trying to delete the application, the db crashes. When this happens the .trc file shows multiple memory errors and the alert log shows multiple core dumps.
    db version = *10.2.0.1*
    apex version = *3.2*
If anyone has experience with similar issues, any suggestions would appreciated. This problem has been a real pain.

    Keith,
There are quite a few hits on Metalink for this error. You may want to go there and see if you can find a patch (of which there seems to be several) or some other method of troubleshooting this problem.
Here is what Doc ID: 1020463.6 has to say in the introduction:
The ORA-3113 error is a general error reported by Oracle client tools,
which signifies that they cannot communicate with the oracle shadow
process. As it is such a general error more information must be collected
to help determine what has happened.
Than note's title is "Diagnosing ORA-3113 Errors".
    Good luck,
    Don.

  • Growl not working in Mail 4.5 - no applications show

Typical, it had to be complicated with me!
OK, so I had growled installed before, but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I installed it again.
It didn't work with mail (or anything for that matter, tho I didn't give it a chance - I only tested mail). All the applications were showing in the list of applications in the Growl Menu.
So, I tried what is in this post. Only trouble is in the section you mention there are two folders: Bundles (with nothing in it) and Bundles (Disabled) (which has the files you talk about in it. I added in the two lines above the 10 or so other lines and saved. Restarted mail, restarted mac. Nothing. No notification for new mails.
I then uninstalled everything again and manually removed the files it says on the Growl Website. It didn't mention to, but I also put the two 'Bundles' folders in the trash (but didn't delete) to see if Growl, when I installed it again, but add a new folder in. It didn't.
I uninstalled Growl again and put the folders back and then re-installed Growl.
None of my applications showed in the preference list.
So I closed and opened mail. Nothing. I restarted the mac. Now Omnifocus shows, but no other applications.
    Any ideas?
    PS - I'm on version 10.6.8
    - I have posted this here too:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2792475?start=0&tstart=0 but I think it is an old thread.

I got growl mail to work again afterwards.
You need to change 1 info.plist file. (use textedit to modify)
    With mail off.
Go to your user login directory and follow this path:-
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles/GrowlMail.mailbundle/Contents/
    Info.plist
    open up info.plist
and in the area under <key>SupportedPluginCompatibilityUUIDs</key>
    Then add:
    <string>9049EF7D-5873-4F54-A447-51D722009310</string>
    <string>1C58722D-AFBD-464E-81BB-0E05C108BE06</string>
save the file and now Growl is once again working...

  • Delete application list

Anybody know how to delete application lists using the APEX API?
For my application I need the ability to generate pages and navigation lists using the APEX API.
I know there are the functions wwv_flow_api.create_list and wwv_flow_api.create_list_item
to build a list but I can't seem to find any similar functions to remove them in the first place.
I can access the tables they are stored in directly and delete them from there but then I need
to specify the table owner (in my case FLOWS_030100) as there are no public synonyms or
    key-preserved views on those tables.

Wow, seems we are caught in a endless loop. The man asks a question, but receives off topic anwers ...I wouldn't say that the answers given by Scott and John were off-topic at all, they were correctly stating that developer's use of those specific API's is not supported.
    >
Let's see some things about the APEX API, from the official Oracle docs:
"The APEX_UI_DEFAULT_UPDATE package provides procedures to access user interface defaults from within SQL Developer or SQL*Plus.
You can use this package to set the user interface defaults associated with a table within a schema. The package must be called from within the schema that owns the table you are updating.
So, after all, we are allowed to use the Oracle API!We do provide some API's that are documented / supported and safe to use by developers, and the APEX_UI_DEFAULT_UPDATE package you mention (although it bears no relevance to this discussion) is a package that contains API's that we support. This package allows the developer to update UI Default information (not actual components eg lists), so to re-iterate, there is no supported API for the purpose of deleting an application list or list item. For a full list of supported API's take a look at the documentation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/apirefs.310/e12855/toc.htm

For example, I have an enviroment that automaticly udpates the aplications (let's say I have 1000) to their lastest version. I will use a batch, of course, wich sould delete the applications and then import them all over again. Hmm, so, you would say that this is possible only from the GUI? Maybe one of you, gentlemen, will care to do this manually every night? I didn't think so ...
So I ask again, maybe someone will answer me correctly: is there a procedure/function in the public APEX API to delete an application? Or a script of somesort that does this?
This again bears no relevance to this thread. You are now talking about deleting applications, not deleting lists within applications. I would suggest starting a new thread for your new question.
A few points to get you started:
    - An application export is just sql script which you can run outside of the APEX UI. See Scott's post here with details:
    Import application manually
    - As Scott says, if your importing applications in this way, you'll need to make sure the workspace ID of the target workspace is the same as the workspace that you exported the application from. (Easiest way to do this is by exporting the workspace from the source and importing it to the target).
    - If you import an application that has the same ID as one which already exists in a workspace, then this will overwrite it anyway, so you don't need to actually delete anything.

  • Deleted video shows up in the iMovie import window

    Hello,
I recorded a video with my iphone 5 which I have since deleted. Every time I connect my iPhone to my Mac and open iMovie import window, the deleted video shows up. How can I permanently delete the video so, that it will be no longer visible in the iMovie iMoore window nor any other place?
    Thanks in advance

I have noticed the exact same issue. I have an iPhone 5s running iOS 8 (latest update). There are about 8 videos I've made and subsequently deleted over the last nine months. They do not appear in Photos. They are not offered as downloadable when connected to the iMac with iPhoto running. However, if I connect the phone to the iMac with the iMovie application open (on the iMac, running Yosemite), then iMovie offers to import all of these supposedly deleted videos! I just want to reclaim whatever space is being taken up by these.
I have tried resetting the iPhone to factory settings, but when it syncs with iTunes and restores from backup, the videos return. How do I delete these videos?! Anyone?

  • Finder Places - duplicate icons every time I restart

Every time I restart my iMac, I get duplicate icons in the sidebar under "Places."
I can fix the problem by deleting the sidebar preference, and replacing it with a backup that I keep stored on my iDisk.
But does anyone know of a way TO PREVENT THE FINDER PLACES ICONS FROM DUPLICATING EVERY TIME I RESTART?
I have used my Mac OS X disk to run disk utility.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS?
    Thank you!

I was having the same problem, and this thread led me to the solution. The Onyx feature was definitely the problem, however I do not use Onyx - I used a demo version of Cocktail (which is a similar product). In Cocktail I had added a dock item that shows Favorites in the dock as a stack. As a consequence of turning on this feature, apparently, the sidebar items become duplicated on restart. So it seems that it doesn't matter which program you use to access this "feature" - either way you end up with duplicated sidebar items. Assuming you have done the same thing - you don't have to run Onyx or Cocktail to alleviate the problem. Simply drag this item off of your dock, restart, and the problem is solved.

  • Delete tv shows

    Hi
On my hard drive I had a lot of TV shows downloaded from iTunes store and they were using up a lot of disk space.
To free up some disk space I purchased an external hard drive, followed the instructions and transferred all my music and TV shows to my new external drive where they are now all sitting merrily in a new folder and all the files have been transferred into 6 files called "Audiobooks, automatically Add to iTunes, Mobile applications, Music,Podcasts, TV shows.
The problem that I having is that although I can find the music files on my existing hard drive I cannot find in which file the TV shows are stored on my existing hard drive so as I delete them.
    Any suggestions, please?

On my internal HD the TV Shows are located in a folder named 'TV Shows'. This is located in the iTunes music folder. I take that you mean file to be a folder.
To delete TV Shows from iTunes use the iTunes interface. Select the show(s) and then the delete key. You will get a dialog asking to keep the files or move to the trash. To free up your internal disk space select the move to trash option. Then empty the trash. If you remove the content via the Finder then you will get the ! and the iTunes library data base will not be correct.
