Deleted BDC sessions
Howdy!
I wanna be able to view deleted BDC sessions is there a way to do this?
Or are they gone forever when I can't no longer seem em from SM35???????
Also is there any good documentation on how the underlying table relations in SAP work and how to approach programming and a really good guide for beginners?

Sorry but I think you've lost deleted BDC sessions.
I couldn't figure out what you mean by underlying table relations in SAP but there are some ways to gather information about ABAP programming. It is obvious that hands-on working is a must. Here are some ways that I can recommend:

In my scenario , Before runnning BDC ( calll transaction ) , I firstly create a session ( use : BDC_OPEN_GROUP) with group name = the file that used to upload data for BDC execution , Then I check If the BDC run without error I will use BDC_CLOSE_GROUP to delete this group or else the session is kept , But when I check In SM35 , There's no session deleted ? BDC_CLOSE_GROUP is used to Close the session Group, if you close it you cannot insert any transactions/records to the the Session group , not for Deletion.
You want to Delete the session after the processing you have to use KEEP = ' '.
then once process is over the session will be deleted. -
BDC Session Saves Data Only in Foreground
I have created a bdc program to create an SM35 session of CA02. The wierd thing is that the session will run in background with no errors, but the data is not updated. If I run the session in foreground the data is updated. Have I overlooked something simple?
To see what is going on, I commented out the save at the end to force it to error out. If I run the session in foreground the data is changed. If I run it in display errors only mode, the data is not changed. So it seems not to have anything to do with the save at the end. Perhaps it is now appropriate to post some of the code.
After the data file is uploaded into the itab and the bdc group has been created, for each routing group I do the following:

Bdc session in status being created
Hi..
I have a custom program that creates bdc sessions. For some of the sessions it created, the status of the session is being created.
when i click on analysis of that session: it has
1 transaction with 8 screens in new
1 transaction with 8 screens in to process
1 transaction with 8 screens in current content
1 transaction with 8 screens in removed with - ve sign after 1 and 8.
0 transaction with 0 screens in (created, deleted, processed and incorrect)
Can someone tell me what might be the reason for the session to be in being created?

RKYes. As I said before thsi is because the BDC_CLOSE was not executed. You are seeign them as being created could be because soem was was tryign to debug the program and woudl have jumped out of the program half way. In this case the BDC_CLOSE would not have executed and the session will remain as 'Being created'. You dont have to worry abt it and it is purely because of partial execution of the program. You can try it on yoru own by gettign into the debugging mode and terminate the program after BDC_OPEN FM is executed. You will see another session with status beign created. The number of transaction in this session will depend on what point did you terminate the program.

Hello All,
I have a question in BDC session method. I am using BDC insert for calling ME11, ME12 and ME15 (create, change and delete) transaction for creating purchase info records. I have a specific situation where I am looping thru an internal table and calling BDC_insert (Create, change or delete) for each record . Finally, after looping all records, submitting 'rsbdcsub' program to release the bdc sessions. Only the first record in the internal table is committed and all others are ignored. Why is this happening? Do I need to explicitly call BDC_release after every insert.
I cannot release the session until the entire records are successfully inserted. So please suggest some solution for achieving this

Capturing Batch Input Log without keeping BDC session
Hi all -
Would like to capture the Batch Input log and keep it persistent in some manner (for example using an application log) without keeping the corresponding BDC session. The reason for this is that any manual corrections to data interfaces through BDC sessions MUST be logged indefinitely for audit purposes. The actual BDC sessions are HUGE and therefore precludes saving the entire BDC session. My thoughts are user-exit'ing in BDC session either as a Batch Input Log is being created or when a Session is being deleted (NOTE: running ECC 6.0 which has new enhancement concept permitting extremely flexible user-exit'ing so exit points are NOT an issue and repair/core mode not required). Anyone see any flaws with this approach or can recommend perhaps a simpler or standard approach so that Batch Input Logs are retained indefinitely whereas the Session is deleted?

Why dont you try archiving?
For archiving, archive object BDCLOGPROD can be used. if archived, then you can read the archived logs using program RSBDC_ARCHREAD (also accessible from SARA->Read).

I have recorded a transaction using the transaction recorder (Transation LT0E); there is a subscreen on one of the screens.
If I do not enter data in the subscreen (i.e. leave the proposed defaults), then when I play back the recording, it works fine. However, if I change the data in the subscreen and play that recording back, it fails; the little window that shows what the current command being executed is just disappears.
If I turn the recording into a BDC session and run that, it records the error "No batch input data for screen SAPML03T 0105".
Anybody have a clue what is happening here?Yes, thanks, that is what is happening; I am deleting a field which when the enter button is pressed is then re-calculating that field with a new value.
Found a workaround for it.

BDC Sessions says it is locked.....
Hi All,
We were running two BDC Sessions at the same time updating the table. Suddenly the SAP got shut down. After few minutes i could see both BDC Sessions are "still under processing" status but the postings got stopped. When i entered SM12 and could see the First BDC session is locked. So both the BDC sessions are still pending. But the next BDC sessions after these two, got processed succesfully. My problem is two BDC sessions half of the postings were done, so couldn't delete the sessions.

Hi,
The standard SAP functionality (in Oil&Gas-SAPLOIAI) is creating a session with Deletion indicator.
The standard SAP functionality is not using KEEP parameter (BDC_OPEN_GROUP)
Once the session is processed, it is getting deleted.
We want to retain the session, even after processing the session.
All our bdc sessions start with NET*
Is there a program that we can run that will modify the delete indicator to 'KEEP'.
SAP an option to modify the delete indicator manually. But many sessions will be created each day and our users don't want to go with this option.
Can you please suggest if a custom program can be written to modify the delete indicator.

on execute I'm passing a new file name & my BDC works fine.
But in case i execute & do not pass any file name & cancel the same a BDC session is generated with zero values.
How to restrict the same. Please guide.hi,
