Deleted, but not gone!!!

I've found that if I delete a pic in the app it doesn't go away in the Library...
User/Pictures/iPhoto Library/(folder name) -
Will still contain the deleted pic - also thumbnails! This might be nice for people who regret deleting something but it is a horrible waste of disk space.
Is there a simple way to delete all related single pic files/hooks/traces in one step?
Secondly, I've noticed that every time I get pics from my digicam iPhoto creates a new folder automatically. I find this really annoying, is there any way to turn it off? Thanks in advance...

Hi igirl1,
The photos will stay in the iPhoto Library folder in the Finder UNTIL you empty the trash in iPhoto. Choose iPhoto>Empty trash in the menubar.
You cannot turn off the way iPhoto organizes the folder in the finder.

  • Are messages I have not deleted but not backed up still on a server somewhere?

Peculiar situation - I'll explan as succinctly as I can.
Recently I had to restore my iphone. On it were stored a number of messages that I will describe as 'not deleted' but as I had not backed up successfully in some time - *cough* two months *cough* - the backup obviously did not restore them.
The messages app is seemingly operating normally. No interruption is noted aside from problems associated with my carrier.
Is there a way to retrieve those messages falling into the 'not deleted but historical and not captured by the backup' part of the resulting Venn diagram?

    No.
Your iPhone should back up whenever you connect it to your computer or if you are syncing to iCloud, whenever you plug it in while on wi-fi...

  • Why only videos on iphone can be deleted but not the music or sync photos?

Why only videos on iphone can be deleted but not the music or sync photos?

Because that is the design of the iphone.
Music and photos are added/deleted via the sync process.

  • HT1766 I have an album in my photos which I am unable to delete even after doing a back up. Other albums automatically delete but not my picture one which is listeed as being from my computer. Any tips on how to delete these would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm trying to delete an album titles pictures from my photos album but can't work out how to do it. I've tried auto back up and erase which deletes other albums but not the photo album. Even selecting individual photos and selecting edit does nothing. Any tips how to erase this album would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • How to restore deleted, but not erased, data?

I just restored my iphone, from an older backup.  itunes says that the information is deleted from the device, but not erased. How do I recover this deleted information?

I have never seen a message where iTunes states that data is deleted but it has not been erased.
The only way that you can recover that data - and data is a somewhat vague term because it can refer to so many different things such as documents, contacts, notes, etc. - is to restore from a backup that contains that data or if you have a local copy of that data stored somewhere on your computer you can import it again via File Sharing, email, DropBox, etc.
So I guess at this point the next question is what data are you trying to recover?

  • Images deleted but not by me :-(

All the images and movies from a recent myKeynote presentation have mysteriously disappeared from the file. When I open the file I get a the slides and text come up along with the talkers notes   a notification box come up with a headline saying ….”YOUR PRESENTATION HAS CHANGED - Some images are missing because they were deleted from the document”
I did not make these changes myself and I can think of no explanation why they might just disappear but they have. Is this a known bug and can I retrieve the document to its original state without having to rebuild the whole presentation from scratch ?
Im using the latest version of Keynote (6.1)  on a Macbook Retina with Mavericks 10.9.1

Try this repair for iWork applications, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using Appcleaner from Mac Update to      do this, its freeware
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and      click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

  • Iphoto Deleted but not trashed

My Iphoto library was trashed but the trash was not deleted. I dragged it to the desktop then dragged it to the dock but it isn't working properly. I have the pictures in my library but whenever I scroll thru the pictures or even click on the iphoto icon I get the spinning wheel on a regular basis.
I never got the wheel until I trashed the iphoto and tried to restore.
Was there better way to restore the iphoto application after I trashed it? Thanks in advance

Okay, so this is a little tricky, since the terminology you are using is conflicting, so let's see what's going on...
    1) From your wording, it seems that you trashed the iPhoto LIBRARY, not the Application itself...if this is the case, you're going to have to figure out where your iPhoto library originally existed, before you trashed it (WHY DID YOU TRASH YOUR IPHOTO LIBRARY, by the way?). You can use Google, but I know for me, personally, I moved my iPhoto library from where it originally was created.
    2) Another thing that you can do, is to hold the "Alt/Option" key down as you're opening iPhoto. This will allow you to choose an iPhoto library. Browse to the one that you pulled out of the trash, and this HOPEFULLY should repair it.
Let me know if this works. By the way, why are you asking this in the iPhone 4 forum?

  • Query deleted but not deleted!!

    Hi gurus,
i have deleted a query, but after deletion, if i try to reassign the same techical name to another query, the system say "technical name already exist!"!!!

Sorry, this was supposed to be a response to a different question. Please ignore my earlier response.
For your situation, it looks to me like you are confused about "saving" of a query to Favorites (which I assume id what you are calling "Preferities"). What you really save in the Favorites is just a link to run the query on the Web. The query itself is saved as an object in the database, associated with the InfoProvider. So if you delete the entry in your Favorites, you are not deleting the query but just the link that was created to run it on the Web.
As mentioned before, RSZDELETE is the way to actually delete the query.
Hope this helps (and my apologies for the confusing earlier post)...

  • Deleted but not deleted

When deleting audio or video we are asked if we want to keep the file or move it to the trash. I have mistakenly chosen the default that keeps the file in the iTunes Music folder although invisible to the interface.
I back up my iTunes folder and do not want these files. Is there a way of forcing iTunes to show all the files in it's folder thus ignoring the invisibility setting? (threw script or console entry maybe?)
    Thanks, Rick.

  • Deleting, but not removing files

When you delete a file from iTunes but choose not to send it to the trash can where does it go? How can you restore it to iTunes?

it stays right where it is.
to add it again (if you have not deleted it), just "add to library" and browse to the desired file.
