  • The contacts icon was deleted from my iPhone 5.  How do I get it back?

My granddaughter played with my phone and deleted the Contacts icon. The information is still on the phone under Phone.  How do I add the icon back?

Well, it's impossible to delete Apple's Contact app. Swipe the home screen to the right and type in a search bar for 'CONTACTS' and it should find the app. She may have put it into a folder or it's on page 9/screen. It's there, you may need to do a little searching and that may take time on your part.
    (Apple apps can't be deleted.)

  • How do I delete the Contacts Icon put on the 2G and 3G iPhones?

How do I delete the Contacts on my 2G iPhone? I want to pass the 2G on and all my phone numbers are there and the Contacts won't deltete!

Back up your Address Book on your Mac. Delete al the contacts. Sync the phone. All your conatats will be gone
Unplug the phone. Restore your contacts into Address Book.
Eaglesflight1258 is right. You can't delete the Contacts icon from the phone, and even if you could, pressing the phone button brings up the same contacts list. There's only one list of names and numbers, and both buttons use it.
An alternative strategy is to get the other stuff to the recipient by copying the files onto his/her computer so they can be synced with the phone; then Erase everything from the phone.

  • How do you get your contacts icon to show up on your phone

i got my phone all configured but i can't see the contacts icon.  i can access my contacts by searching for them but how do you set up your icon?

The icon is there somewhere since it can't be deleted or restricted.  Check all your screens and folders... look under Utilities.

  • How to restore the Contacts icon in my Gmail account?

I just realize that my contacts are not being updated from my Gmail account. When I went to see my Gmail account settings the Contacts icon was missing from my iPhone Gmail account. When I called the Apple support I was advised to delete the account and recreate it again. I deleted the account, restarted the phone and then hard reset the phone. No luck. The icon is still missing!

hello Dhanraj K, for gmail accounts there shouldn't be much manual configuration required. please try to set it up like described in [[Add an email account to the Mail app in Firefox OS]]

i cant use my contacts in my iphone. the contacts icon dont open. How can I use it?

Your daughter must have signed into your iCloud account, perhaps when she updated her phone.  You can confirm this by going to Settings>iClloud on her phone and seeing if she is using the same iCloud ID.
To fix this you would need to migrate her phone to a separate iCloud account.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that she wishes to keep on your phone to her camera roll by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tapping the share icon (box with upware pointing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone.  This only deletes the account from her phone, not from iCloud; it won't effect your device(s).  When you delete the account you will be asked if you want to keep or delete the iCloud data from her phone.  If she needs to migrate a copy of the data to her new account, choose Keep; otherwise, choose Delete.  Then sign back in with a separate Apple ID to create her new account and if migrating data to the new account, choose Merge when prompted.
Once she is on a separate account, if she migrated a copy of the data to her new account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into her new iCloud account and delete your data from her account.

  • Solution:  iMac Address Book - Issues when Editing or Deleting Contacts

Is there a way to select a bunch of similarly posted questions and propose to "ALL" an answer or solution?
Hardware & Version: I have the iMac OS X Lion 10.7.4  (as of this writing)
Every so often, after updates, there seems to be rights issues with some apps, such as Address Book and iTunes, especially for iMacs with one or more non-admin accounts.
But somehow, even using the Admin account to give Read/Write access to some relevant user folders (AddressBook folder of that user in this case) does nothing to allow the editing or deleting of those contacts.
Here is the solution that worked for me, without losing all my contacts:  (just in case, backup all files and contacts prior to these steps...)
1 - open Address Book app
2 - right-click a contact that you cannot edit or delete
    3 - select "Spotlight: <contact name>"
4 - Finder will open and show all files pertaining to that contact (select View as Columns from the menu)
5 - find the file that has "Address Book Card Data" next to the "Kind" value (the file icon will look like those Roladex cards)
6 - right-click the file and select "Open Enclosing Folder"
7 - another Finder window opens to show the Metadata folder location of the file
8 - now stretch the window until you see the AddressBook folder containing the Metadata folder
9 - Quit Address Book app
10 - right-click the AddressBook folder and select "Move to Trash"
11 - launch the Address Book app
You should now be able to edit and delete contacts.

  • I recently downloaded the 5.1.1 and all of a sudden the contact icon has disappeared. I can still access my contact list through the phone icon, but I want the contact icon back. How can I reinstall it?

You can't delete it.  Look on all your screens and inside all your folders.  If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so.

  • Somehow My Contacts Icon got dragged in to the Newsstand Icon, and I can't drag my contacts icon out to have on my home screen like normal

Somehow My Contacts Icon got dragged in to the Newsstand Icon, and I can't drag my contacts icon out to have it on my home screen like normal, I can't delete it from the newsstand either. Please help!

It was only happening to that icon.  I figured it out though.  All I had to do was turn off my phone and turn it back on and it was out of the newsstand icon when I turned it back on.  Thanks for your help though!

  • I reset my iPhone and lost my contacts icon

I had some sync issues after adding an iPad to my Macbook Pro and iPhone system. I chose (unwisely it appears) to "restore" my iPhone. In the process, I somehow lost my Address Book icon. The contacts are still there if I go in through the phone icon contacts, but not as a standalone icon. I can figure out how to get it back. Anyone know?

I assume by "address book icon" you mean the Contacts app.  You can't delete this because it's part of the iOS.  Resetting the home screen layout should have restored you home screen to it's default, including the Contacts icon.  If you're saying this didn't work then I'm not sure what's going on.  You could always try resetting the phone to see if that helps: hold the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), release and wait for the phone to restart.

  • How come when I double click on the Contacts icon, my contacts do NOT open

When I double click on the Contacts icon, how come the Contacts file does not open?

THANKS...I did single click & my contacts do not display as they usually do.
Tried to delete the icon from the dock & opened Applications & moved the Contacts icon to the DOck, but this didn't solve the problem.

  • Help! My deleted contacts keep re-appearing...

    Hi,
My brother gave me his BB 8900. I've deleted his contacts every way I know how, and his contacts keep re-appearing on the phone.
    1. I've deleted the contacts through the Desktop software
    2. I've a clean list of my contacts on Gmail and Yahoo address book for syncing.
    3. I've deleted my bro's contacts on the back-up folder contacts.
    4. I've no entries in my SIM Phone Book.
    5. I set the Address Book Wireless Synchronization field to No.
I get to the point where everything looks clean on handheld and phone ... and 30 minutes later the unconnected phone has somehow restored the (600) deleted contacts into the address book
Any idea what I'm missing? Thanks.

Interesting. A clean start could help because I don't know whats causing it.  You've done some good troubleshooting so far.
I recommend wiping the device so you can setup from scratch.  This guarantees nothing from your brothers settings remain.

  • How do I restore my contacts icon? It's missing.

Missing my contacts icon. All the contacts are there. How do I restore the icon? I've tried resetting homescreen in settings.

You can't delete it.  Look on all your screens and inside all your folders.  If you still can't find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.  This will restore the home screen to its original configuration but may move other apps around to do so. (You may want to take some screenshots first so you can recreate your app layout).

It's a pre-installed app and therefore cannot be deleted so you may have inadvertently moved it onto a screen or into a folder, check the utilities folder as this is a common one for it to disappear into.  Check all screens and folders and do a search in Spotlight, it will tell you if the app it still on your iPhone but unfortunately not where it is. If you find it on one or your screens or in a folder, press the icon until it wiggles and then drag it back to where you want it.  Alternatively you can reset your home screen in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
