1.At present I see particular CVC when it was created through realignment input table (steps).
Is there any way to know/check the deleted characteristic combination/s?
2. How to identifiy the Characteristic combination/s that has no time series ?
3. How to create time series for already created Characteristic combination/s but missed time series?

Any CVCs generated/deleted can viewed in the "Manage log" section in transaction /sapapo/mc62
2. How to identifiy the Characteristic combination/s that has no time series ?

You can see both 2 and 3 in report /SAPAPO/TS_LCM_PLOB_DELTA_SYNC.
For the CVCs that have no time series, Click on the 3rd icon to the right that says drop down text as "Time series to be adjusted (Cntrl+F1)".
When you run this report, it synchronizes the CVCs and time series.
You can also do this synchronization using the report /SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_CONS_CHECK.

Looking for a program to delete CVCs from a flat file, infocube, ztable.

I am looking for a program that will delete CVCs from a flat file, infocube, or ztable. Based on the research I have done, I would imagine the core of such a program would be the use of function module /sapapo/ts_plob_delete.
If anyone has such a program and would be willing to share it that would be great.

Yes you can use this program, but I think the program /sapapo/ts_plob_delete will only delete the data from Master planning Object structure( MPOS). First you have to deactivate the planning are first than use this program which will delete everything and again activate the planning area.
If you want to delete the data flat files or infocube, you require to delete the data directly from the infocubes and add this job in the process chain to delete everything.

Delete CVC for Planning object structure relevant for DP BOM

We have created a new client. The selection BOM char comb ID and BOM Prod Type (I/O) values are not availabe in program Delete CVC combination.
Is some configuration is missing.

SNP planning book - 9ASNP94
In the release transaction i.e. /SAPAPO/MC90 , we need to give the target version .
Each version is assigned to exactly one Planning Area( though one PA may have more than one versions. Secondly at a time only one version will be active and in SNP / PPDS the Active version is always '000' which is connected to SAP ERP systems.
Therefore when , we mention the version, system know the planning area.

Deleted CVC's combination for product

Hi Manasa,
Assuming that the user has deleted the CVCs only in the planning area, I have the following possible options:
1) Do you take backup of data from planning area? If yes, go to the backup cube, and you can find all the CVCs correspodning to the product. Create CVCs using the backup cube. Then load the data from the backup cube to the planning area (by using this material as selection criteria). Most likely you would be able to recover all the lost CVCs/Key Figures in this way (Depends on what kind of backup you take).
2) If you are not taking a backup (I would be very surprsied if this is the case), your task might not be easy. Talk to your BW team. They would be either sending the history data relevant for creation of CVC, or they might also be extracting data from DP planning area for reporting purpose. Either ways, it might be easy to identify the CVCs based on data available in BW system.
Next would come the issue of how to get the Key Figures data against the CVCs. It could be simple or complex depending on your design. I can't directly comment. May be you can get history data easily from BW, and then run the DP jobs in APO to do the relevant calculation, or otherwise wait for the already scheduled DP jobs to run and they would take care of DP related calculations. Be very careful about this part - you would need to understand your DP flow properly before taking any actions.
3) You could try to identify the missing CVCs in R/3 by understanding what all characteristics you use in DP, and how you derive them during creation of CVC. Again you could try to identify how you would get the Key Figures against the CVCs from R/3 to APO. Again, my guess is that these calculations should mostly happen in BW, so above option no. 2 should hold good, but depends on your design. If you are not using BW to get data for DP, your situation could be very tricky.
PS: If backup is taken (option 1), that is the simplest and straight forward option for you, go for it. Otherwise, best of luck.

Live cache data deletion

Hi Friends,
We are facing one strange problem with our Live cache.
We have DP data in Livecache. due to some reasons planning results are corrupted.
So we have deleted time series for DP planning area and recreated time series.
Here what we found is even after deletion and recreation of time series for planning area still
the key figure data exists in live cache and can see in interactive planning book.
Can some one please give some hints what went wrong.
Any other Live cache related programs or jobs need to run to get rid of the problem?.

You are right. after running /SAPAPO/TS_PSTRU_CONTENT_DEL all CVCs for the POS are deleted
and there are 0 CVC left.
but again i have Generated CVCs from Infocube (possibly same old combinations are generated since the infocube is same).
Now i have initialized planning area and then accessed the selection id in interactive planning.
Surprisingly still i can see key figure values in planning book.
Here are steps what i did:
1. Deleted time series for PA (de initialization)
2. Deleted CVCs from POS
3.Deactivated POS and reactivated POS
4.Generated CVCs again from Infocube
5.Created time series for PA (re initialize)
6.Loaded selection id in interactive PB.
7.Still i can see key figure data for loaded CVCs.
Some how the data is not getting cleaned in livecache inspite of doing above steps.
data might be stored superfluously in live cache.
I want to know any additional reports are available to get rid of these kind of issues.

Since you say that you deleted the CVCs for a particular customer then at least you knoe teh characteristic value for that customer. Try and access data for any cube which you updated recently for DP. It could be teh sales cube, or the backup cube. From here you can generate the CVCs into the list. From there you can use a filter to select the Customer and generate them again. What more, if you have the data backup you can again load the data.

Stop forecast on obsolete product

Any idea how to take care of material in DP/BW which get obsolete over the time. I mean how to set it obsolete so that the system no longer generates its forecast.

Kedar,
as a standard SAP recommends to use the lifecycle management funtionality. Just maintain a proper phase-out-profile and assign it to the obsolete CVCs. By this CVCs will stay in the system (for visibility) but no stat. forecast will be created from the point of time defined in the phase-out-profile.
Alternatively you can delete CVCs directly when they become obsolete.
We do that, because forecast data have already been saved in an external BW system for reporting. By this, you will keep your DP clean.

Lifecycle planning with multiple locations

Hi Experts,
Imagine we have:
1) Product A in Location A
2) Product B in Location B
Now there is a initiative to discontinue production of Product B in location B and it is expected that customers will buy instead Product A in Location A.
So I need to map sales history of Product B in Location B to Product A in Location A. How can I achieve this functionality?
- Life-cycle management allows me to do only within the same location.
- Other option is to do a realignment, but it is too dangerous for often use from my point of view.
Does anyone have implemented some development on this?

1. If you want to consider using Life cycle planning only , Try creating the life cycle table on Product and Location characteristics. Create the life profile and then maintain both Product A/ Location A values in the lifecycle table.
2. Realignment should be considered as one of the option, if your users are OK with actually copying the sales history to new product instead of just referring the sales history for forecasting without actually copying. Also, as mentioned earlier by Satish, execute realignment in two steps if you want to play safe. Copy first and then delete CVCs belonging to Product B/Loc B as a next step once you are sure the data has been copied correctly to Prod A/Loc A.
Also you could do this in Quality first to feel confident about results.

Delete characteristic combination

Hi all,
I need to delete characteristic combination from a POS.
1 - Is there any way to delete from a list (excel file)? In /SAPAPO/MC62 with the function "Delete from a Combination list" I don't see a way to do this. It seems to be made for listing a previous seletion and then we have to mark all the CVCs to be deleted.
2 - I need to delete de CVC where I have the value zero in some keyfigure. Can this be done?
The only way I see is creating an infocube based on the PA and then list all the records with no value in this keyfigure and then use tx /SAPAPO/MC62.

Another alternative which may be useful ..... I had posted this in another thread.
"As mentioned by many, there is no standard program & you may need to build a custom program for this. Nevertheless, I have a certain procedure in mind which can automate the maintainence of CVCs in APO DP.
We normally use (atleast) 2 cubes for APO DP, one is the Input cube and the other a Backup cube. The input cube will contain only latest & relevant sales data and normally you would want your planning area to contain these. However, in due course, we will end up with redundant CVCs of old products in planning area, if left unattended. So, what we do is, after the latest backup load is created, we delete all data in planning area and delete all CVCs. You may need a small program here to delete all CVCs, which is still better than developing a complex program to delete redundant CVCs and identifying the CVCs to be deleted using some logic. Identifying the redundant CVCs to be deleted amongst thousands of CVCs and automating it is the greatest pain here.
Next, after the sales load into Input cube containing only relevant combinations, you re-create all CVCs based on your Input cube and load sales data. Once sales data is loaded, you can load the backup data from backup cube back into planning area. Thus, if any redundant CVCs were present earlier and that combination is not present in Input cube, it will be left out."

Error while creating CVC in background in SCM 7.0

Hi Manasa,
What is your source for creation of CVC? Are you trying to create CVCs from infocube?
Could you try out the following to identify the root cause?
In the create CVC (/sapapo/mc62) variant, uncheck the check boxes for all the 3 checks at bottom of the variant, and also uncheck the "adjust time series objects" checkbox.
Come to "selection condition", and select one or few CVCs from your source (Infocube, or flat file, whatever).
Then try to run the job, which should only create one or few CVCs as per your selection criteria.
If you are able to create CVCs in this way, that could mean that you might be having some issue during some check or generation of time series. Delete the created CVCs and again try to create them by activating the checks one by one.
If the above helps in identification of the issue, then it might be possible to attack and resolve the issue e.g. special character, etc.
PS: You could also try the "load to worklist" option to try to identify the CVC having issue. There you can specify one or few CVCs to be created in one go, and this might help in identifying if there is an issue with a certain CVC.

Delete obsolete combinations in /SAPAPO/MC62 - how to use?

We are using SAP APO Demand planning SAP SCM 7.0 with SP 15 for most of components.
I have some questions related to the button "delete obsolete combinations" in TA /SAPAPO/MC62. We want to use option "list combinations without planning data" to reduce CVC's quantity. What I have read it checks for CVC's without any entries at key figures. It sounds useful, but it doesn't seem to work in our company for some reason.
1. Where exactly does system check if there are key figures for the selected CVC's? In livecache directly? Or in an internal generated info cube for the planning area? Is it possible to view these key figures (on same base as done from system with option "list combinations without planning data") before using the deletion? Is there a report / table to do so? What's the best practise for this check (maybe on daily base)?
2. I have (some) CVC's without any key figure filled (for my opinion...). At the moment I check this with an info cube used for daily backup (means I see always the data from last night and I know that noone changed data because of blocked planning access). But it isn't found with "list combinations without planning data". When displaying the data in this backup-cube all key figures are shown as zero (the one which are shown for deletion and in same way the cvc's which are not shown). In the key figure settings "differentiation between zero and initial value" is not marked... I think this is correct, but maybe I have a misunderstanding here... any ideas about this setting? I don't believe this setting is wrong, because it shows me some CVC's to be deleted, but some of them are not shown (the setting should work for all cvc's in same way...?).

My plan was to use standard tool, because it's available since some releases. I don't prefer to implement own programming instead of using an existing tool (talking about the built ABAP tool, the idea with alert makro sounds good).
Is the standard tool effective??? Good question. We talk about 2 steps.
If the mentioned function "delete obsolete" would work like designed (maybe it does, but I don't understand how...) it would do 2 steps combined:
- find out obsolete CVC's (your alert makro)
- delete obsolete CVC's (your ABAP tool)
Combining these 2 steps would be really effective, but it doesn't work for some reason. My estimation is that standard is not effective, because complete process of deletions of CVC's is very slow and causes sometimes performance trouble.
But this is the reason why I search for a standard tool to run periodically (maybe each week) for a check of "old" CVC's. I think our problem of slow running deletions is caused by too many CVC's in an planning object structure (together with the fact that our CVC's have a lot of key figures / characteristics).
To be honest my main task is to find the best possibility to delete a list of completely different CVC's (no unique selection possible). I tested a lot of things found in SCN (realignment, background deletion,...), but all the solutions have s lack in performance (at least in our system...).

Process chains: error when including CVC generation process type

hello all !
I have a Pc that loads data from custom extractor into a Icube.
next triggers Generate Characteristic combination which never executes. Status remains active but no "completed succesfully" (yellow triangle) in monitor of pc.
When I run it alone the CVC generation process types executes OK...??!!!
My sequence is Delete Index from cube ---> Load IP --> Atribute change run ---> Create Index --> Delete overlapping request (up to hear loads oK although status never becomes green '??)
final step is a CVC generation + adjust time series process type.
Does any of you know why the error ? and how to help solving it out ?

I guess you can directly go to RSA1->Source Systems.Rt click and Transfer Global Settings then Delete the Red Request and Go to the Particular Process chain and do a Repeat/Repair.
You can try repairing it...

Realignment of CVCs in DP

How do we run the Realignment process for CVC in DP using a flat file. Realignment of single values can be done, but if it is to be done for a number of CVCs through a Excel /Text tab delimited file then how is it to be done. Also when do you use the options of Delete Source in Realignment. What if we want to copy the same Product for a number of different locations.

We had same issue, I would like to share the solution, so some one in future can reference.
Step1: Create source file as Tab delimited text file and name it as .xls rather than .txt
Step2: Leave first line blank in the source file.
Step3: When source is created from SAP template, ignore (delete column "Realignment Step", you dont need it, system will generate sequence)
Step4: Leave Step Status Blank, Realignment factor mostly 100 and date in YYYYMMDD format, and Realignment Logic as M.
Step5: Upload the file, It will work.

How do I delete Statistical Forecasts for components that have no history

How do I delete Statistical Forecasts for components that have no historical data, but the Stat forecast model is still forecasting values for components.
Other than creating a macro to clear the key figure columns interactively in the planning book, where in the model or background job do I activate or set that components without 12 months historical data are not forecasted .i.e. zero values in forecast for these components?

Hi Keegan,
To my knowledge there is no standard way you can tell the system not to forecast if the last 12 periods are zeros.
We have the same issue and we use 3 methods to get around this:
1. A macro as you said
2. Create a phase out profile in life cycle profile with parameters, start date today to some 12/31/9999 and set the "Before start date, apply constant factor" 100% and "After start date, apply constant factor" 0%
and check the indicator " Life cycle planning " in master forecast profile.
This puts zeros for all future values but does not check if the history has zeros in it.
3. Delete unwanted CVCs so that we will not see any issues with disaggregation and junk data.

Process Chain error while loading CVC's into planning book

Hi I am trying to run the process chain and till half chain it was good and at one place after VMI Generate CVC's there is a box showing in RED and it is Load Infocube and when i checked it in batch processing it says end with errors and I could'nt find exactly what to do to run the entire process chain. Please anybody can tell me how can i resolve this issue.

Hi Senthil,
For Some of the SKUs it is giving the Error , some abrupt values are stored in Live Cache for these SKUs(CVC), thats why it giving the Error.
The only solution is ..i have to delete the CVCs and create new one...
But i will loose the data as we cant take the Backup of Old CVC data --> Giving COM Error
The reason of Abrupt Values in Live Cache Could Be -->.>

How can we fix these types of Error , as regularly i am getting these Error??
Is there any Note/Patch to overcome this issue?
