Deleted email account in Mail

Hey,
Since the server for my new website had changed, I went to ajuste my settings in preferences in Mail. I had 2 previous accounts in my mail. One I changed the server information and saved it and one I deleted (what was I thinking). Well I certainly didnt expect that action to delete all my emails in that account over the last 3 years...
Is there any way to retrieve those emails? It would mean the world to me...

Well firstly, i would try and do a search for a specific word in "spotlight" (you can do this by typing a word / recipient into the little blue magnifying glass at the top right corner). If it works, you should see the emails in the dropdown box. Once you have found them, save them to a folder and place them back into "mail".
If you have no joy there, i would try and access the emails on webmail. You can do this by logging in to your email account through going to www.metanet.ch and see if they have been left on the server.

    Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

    You didn't read my problem - I said I deleted a POP email account.  I always read the messages that pop up and in Mail when you delete a POP account - IT DOESN'T TELL YOU NUTHIN!  It just deletes it - which *** for me.  Fortunately, I had an iPhone and on that device I had about a 1000 messages that I could recover but on all my POP accounts I download them from the server onto my Mac so they were only on Mail (the really old ones that I wanted to keep.)  I had to move them into another directory one by one basically because when I would move 50 some of them would move and some wouldn't and I never did figure out that problem.  Basically the ones that would not move are the ones that were associated with my domain changes with GoDaddy, and there were a lot of those.  Have no idea as to why only those were resistant to moving but I can get all that data from GoDaddy anyway.
    This thread is now moot seeing as how I've recovered everything I can and am going to just move on - and back up more often.  ;-)
    Apple and Mail need to rewrite that program to include a WARNING MESSAGE when deleting an Account in Mail that says ALL YOUR MESSAGES ARE GOING TO DISAPPEAR NEVER TO RETURN IF YOU DELETE THIS ACCOUNT, SO YOU DANG WELL BETTER HAVE A BACK UP IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ANYTHING BEFORE PRESSING THAT MINUS SYMBOL!  ;-)

    I just accidnetally deleted email account and there wa sno warining so it went through and I lost all my emails. The email was not Back up. Is there any way how this account could be recovered?

    If the account was an IMAP account your emails should re-appear if you recreate the email account. If the account was POP you hopefully have backup (TIme Machine?) you can restore the emails from.

    Unfortunately you can't delete accounts, you also can't change or remove iCloud addresses.

    I hit "DELETE THIS ACCOUNT" on my iphone (this is the Yahoo I tried to set up by "picking" it from the list that the iphone5 gives you) and then confirmed to delete everything.
    THEN: while in Mail (still in the Settings Section) I tapped on "ADD ACCOUNT..." but this time tapped on "OTHER" and manually put in my yahoo ID and password and I did not even have to go to the   SMTP or IMAP incomming/outgoing stuff at all. But I checked it out under the "ADVANCE" tab and it was already correct for yahoo. (ALMOST SEEMED TOO EASY)
    Went to my home screen and tapped on MAIL and my yahoo email loaded up just right!
    Now, I have no idea if I have any other issues like if I delete mail on the iphone; does it delete properly on my ipad...etc..etc. but one problem at a time is getting fixed. THANKS!

    On my ipad model MB293LL I am unable to access the 'Mail, Contacts, Calenders' menu in my settings. i am trying to add an Email account in the settings, but the tab 'Mail, Contacts, Calenders' will not open, but returns to the desktop. Does anyone know a workaround please to add a new account?

  • I am constantly prompted to verify my password for my ATT (Yahoo) email account in Mail.

    Every frew minutes I am prompted to reenter/verify my ATT email account in Mail.  This has been working flawlessly until a few weeks ago.  I tried deleting and recreating the account with no success.
    ATT uses Yahoo to host their email and I use the imap inbound and outbound server settings.  I can still receive and send using that account but have to respond to the "enter your password pop-up every few minutes even though the password field is populated.

    I am also searching for the "fix" as mine hase been doing the same for about 3-4 months now and this is OLD... there are a lot of people working on this from the "communities forum" but Apple is doing nothing about it so far... I have also searched the Yahoo communities for a "fix" but the trolls just tell everyong to move to Gmail... LOL... so I will hope you(and the rest of us= alot) get an answer in here... If I find the "fix" elsewhere, I will be back to post here...

  • E71, cannot delete email account.

    This problem has been dealt with but sollutions suggested does not work for me.
    My E71 unlocked  3,  works fairly well on orange.  I deleted  the 3 mail account and added a imap google apps account and does not work well due to folders on my google apps. It freezes. Now i m unable to delete the email account as there is no delete options.
    Messaging > options > settings > E-mail > options    has no delete option. available options are "change, New mail Box, Help, Exit" 
    This is same if I go to Menu > communications > messaging > Settings > E-mail> options

    Are you removing your private email account or Mail for Exchange account or Lotus Notes?
    Are you using Nokia Messaging service or direct connection to Email service?
    What is the error message, when you try to remove mail account?
    If you are using the Nokia Messaging service, go to the Email application, select Settings > Highlight the mailbox that needs to be removed  > Select Options. > Remove mailbox. > Yes.

  • I have 3 email accounts in Mail on Macbook Pro.  Mail is only being sent from 1 account.

    I have 3 email accounts in Mail.  Mail is only being sent from 1 account, even though I select one of the other accounts in the "from" field.  In my sent box, the "From" field says the accout I selected, but all recipients say they receive it from a different account.  I set my composing preferences "send new messages from" to the main account, but all my mail is still being sent from a different account.  I cannot see that this is happening, only people receiving it can.  I noticed it because when they reply, it goes to a different account than what I sent to them.  Any suggestions with what I should do?

    I'm having an impossible time setting up a second email account on Mail. Seemed as though it would be simple but after I've done all the basics, it sets up the account on MobileMe instead of iCloud and there it stops. Can't send or receive messages. I'm lost!  Advice?

    I do have an iCloud account and have since October. I am trying to set up a second email address. Perhaps I'm asking Mail to do more than it's equipped to do.
    I have set up an alias with the new email address through my existing iCloud account. However, when I test sending and receiving, the emails to and from the new address are in the same list as my regular Mail. Not sure this helps with my desire to separate the two! Perhaps I'm still doing something wrong.

    Assuming that in this day and age you want security.
    Setting up a new email account on mail, the password is entered for connecting to the in & outgoing servers before SSL is set.  Before you can set SSL, mail connects to the servers so email password is transmitted unencrypted?
    This seems a very obvious quirk/bug and something that I have always felt uncomfortable about.
    Anyone else think this is not a good thing?

    Actually it look like all apple devices have the same mail setup procedure, so are your email passwords all being sent over the network in plain text before you get the chance to set the SSL option?
    Any security experts care to comment.

    This will require an explanation before I can get to my question so here I go. I have several email accounts that sync to my phone. I have now deleted one of my email accounts. The problem is that when I compose an email from any of the remaining email accounts still on my phone and start to type the name of the contact that I want to send the email to contacts from the deleted email account are still being displayed. I need to be able to remove the contacts from the deleted email account from my phone. These are contacts that are not part of my phone contacts. They are contacts that I have replied to from the deleted email account. If I have not clearly described my issue please let me know. Thanks for any suggestions anyone may have.

    There is a system-wide email address cache. The only way to clear that cache is to perform a Restore via iTunes, and set your phone up as new (the list is backed up), meaning you'd need to reload all your content, redo your settings, etc.
