Deleted emails are duplicating in trash

deleted emails are duplicating in trash

I am using an Exchange email account. I recently cleaned out my inbox from work. I am showing zero unread emails from my Exchange account from my desktop at work. However, my iPhone 4 (after 2 days and 3 attempts to sync) is still showing 143 unread emails and I cannot access these alleged emails from my phone. It simply shows "143" on my mail icon from the home screen. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • How can I increase the time deleted emails stay in the trash folder?

Sometimes I find that I need to refer back to an email that was deleted. Right now the emails are dumped from the trash folder very quickly. I would like to let the deleted emails stay in the trash folder for a much longer period of time.

Is this on Comcast email? Another email site?
Usually this is set in the options for the site, and not in Firefox itself.
If you are retrieving mail into the Thunderbird email program, there actually is a different support forum for Thunderbird here: https://support.mozillamessaging.com/home

  • TS3276 my emails are duplicated

my emails are duplicated. Something to do with Rules?

Why "thanks for nothing to Apple?" The problem doesn't sound like it was Apple's fault, it was Avast's. If you're referring to the fact that your question got no response, that's also not Apple's fault, as this is a user-to-user forum.
By the way, regarding the need for anti-virus, see my Mac Malware Guide. Be careful not to replace Avast with something even worse!

Close out of the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the mail app.
Then do a reset, hold down the home/sleep button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for your phone to boot back up.  Then check your mail again.

  • Deleted Emails are just "grey" on Server

    Hello everybody,
when I delete an Email in TB-Inbox it disappears in TB but not in my Online-Inbox of my Emailprovider. It is just grey there (not unread, not read, something different).
Is there a way to tell TB to remove the deleted Emails "completely"? At the moment I have to delete Emails twice. Sometimes I have to manage my emails in the browser so I prever not to have these grey "grey email-ghosts" there.
    My Settings:
    1) IMAP
    2) Account Settings / Server Settings / When I delete a message / Move it to this folder / Trash
    3) Account Settings / Synchronization & Storage / To recover disk space ... /
    - Don't delete any Messages CHECKED
    - Delete all but the most recent ... messages UNchecked
    - Delete messages more than ... days old UNchecked
    - Always keep starred messaged CHECKED
Once I told TB to delete Emails older than 30 days TB deleted everything older than 30 days in EVERY folder (although "Always keep starred messaged" was still CHECKED). So I'm a little bit afraid to make experiments in these options.
    Thank you in advance!

This would appear to be how your email providers webpage displays emails that are 'marked as deleted'. When you expunge /compact folders in Thunderbird it should disappear from webmail.
Please read info at this link, it will help to explain things.

  • None of my deleted files are showing in trash

I have deleted several files and there is nothing in the trash .  I have not emptied the trash.  I am running snow leopard PLEASE HELP TY

How are you deleting the files? If, for instance, you delete photos from iPhoto they will not show up in your Finder's Trash until you select Empty iPhoto Trash from the iPhoto menu.
    Best of luck.

  • I have deleted email on my Mac and synced my phone but those deleted emails are still in my phone inbox.

How can I deleted these emails without having to go back more than a year and delete manually?

If deleting mail on your computer is not deleting the mail on the iPhone, then more than likely you are talking about a POP account. If that is the case, you will not be able to remove them other than to delete them individually, or delete the account on the phone, then add it back again. Deleting the account will delete the mail, then you can add it back. A POP account stores the mail locally on the device. And with a POP account, syncing the phone to the computer has nothing to do with the mail, except for the account settings. It does not deal with the mailbox contents.

  • TS3899 When I delete email the next time I open mail the deleted emails are back so I delete again. They come back sometimes at least 5-6 times. I have deleted the account and added it back and changed settings several times. What is wrong??

My emails keep coming back after being deleted up to 5-6 times. Why do they keep coming back every time I open my mail? I have deleted my email account and added back and also changed settings. It still does it.

Log into your webmail on a browser and delete them from there.

  • Why are my deleted emails saving in my 'pictures' as a PDF adobe when they should have been in my deleted email file not saved in my pictures??????

Why are my deleted emails saving in 'my pictures' as a PDF adobe when they should have been in my deleted email file not saved
    in my pictures??????

I deleted emails from my windows emails and when I went into my pictures there was all my recently deleted items as pdf adobe files and I cannot right click and delete. But why would my deleted emails be going to my pictures in the first place. So i think it must be in how the adobe program is set up and need to know how to change the settings so my deleted emails are not sent to my pictures.I do not know what other details you would require?

  • Purging of deleted emails

I am using Mail.app in a POP account. Apple's Support Article HT1668 says that occasionally the Trash folder will purge itself of deleted emails. This action is supposed to occur when the number of deleted emails exceeds the number set in the "Show .... Recent Messages" setting and the number of deleted emails stays at that number until the deleted emails builds up again and the purge process recurs.
You can of course purge each deleted email from the Trash individually or by group but that is still a manual process.
There does not seem to be any method to trigger the automatic purging of the deleted emails or any indication of when such action is supposed to occur, weekly, monthly, etc. What does Apple mean by 'occasionally'?
The number of deleted emails sitting in my Trash folder is increasing. Does anyone know how to reduce/get rid of them?
    Thanks for any pointers.

Since you are using a POP system, log into the server related. After logging in, visit their settings and look for the "delete messages after (X) days" variant.
If you have downloaded them through your iPhone you can go into trash, then press edit and delete all.
If it's Mac related, open the Mac Mail then click on trash. Hold Command+A and press the delete button or right click and click delete/trash.
According to Apple via http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22283 :
Some email messages in the Trash mailbox (messages originally deleted from the "On My Mac" section) are deleted after seven days, even though one or more email accounts are configured to delete messages after a longer period.
You can also follow the instructions provided by the link to edit your trash settings from "On My Mac".

  • Can't delete email from inbox

When I drag emails from the Inbox to Trash, nothing shows up in Trash on My Mac or iCloud. And the deleted emails are back in my Inbox.

Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox. Try again to delete the message.
