Photos are meant to be imported from the phone to your computer for archival and safekeeping. Have you not been using your phone as designed?

I just got a new IPAD and transferred everything through the cloud from my old IPAD 2. The new one says "this IPAD is currently being restored. It has been that way for over two hours. Also, I Books opens and then closes right away with no content. Does it take this long, or is there an issue?
I also tried manually underlining a few things on the new iPad and when highlighting a paragraph, it would skip a few lines and the line would go through a few as well. Looks like a major iBooks glitch needs to be addressed here.

This is a new phone all contacts and other stuff seems to have downloaded.this has nothing to do with your old phone (connected to wifi or not). It has to do with your wifi and new iphone. check wifi connect/restart router. then restart iphone.

I have just bought a new mac book, and I want to start from scratch by syncing the content of my iPhone, but each time I try it wants to delete everything on the iPhone and replace by what's on the new iTunes library, i.e. nothing! can I do the reverse, i.e. importing all my iphone's stuff on the new computer?
You need to copy some files and your iTunes folder to the new computer. Do you have a backup of your old computer (or still have the old computer?) Was the old computer a Mac or PC?

You should still be able to manually manage the music on your iPhone within iTunes. Make sure that when your iPhone is plugged in, look in the Summary tab to see if “Manually manage music and videos” is enabled and you can even you turn off Automatically Sync when this iPhone is connected. Take a look at the first article below to give more information on that. As far as your other questions about calling someone, I have provided two options for you. The application ITunes presumes that the information, data, music, etc in its database is the correct master. In doing so, it will overwrite and replace any information previously on the phone. You probably will want to transfer the iTunes data directory from it's original location (presumably the system yoiu used to sync with your iPhone previously), the the new system.
If your iPhone has data from a different Apple ID, than the ID you will use on the new notebook, then be prepared to lose the data on the phone if you sync. It's meant to work that way. -

Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then you should be able to erase your phone if you want. When you're done, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.

I hit the "update all" button in the app store and things seemed to get started but never completed. Now all these apps have a "waiting" msg under them. How do I fix this? Thx-Kurt.
turn your ipad off by holding the sleep wake button for 5 seconds and slide to turn off then turn it back on and the apps should be finished and if the apps didnt finish just redownload them

When I check my iCloud backup it says it has never backed up and when I try to back manually it gives a message of " estimating back up time" and doesn't back up even after having left it for many hours?
Yes I have tried that last weekend ad this weekend. I have tried wi fi at different times of the day too; in case it is speed issue. I have tried selecting only backing up limited content and not every thing per what other users suggest.
It's maybe either the router is lousy or there is something wrong with my software or hardware.

Lightroom is not saving metadata. I have done several things to save and I still get the tag that states is is not saved. I have also created 2 smart collections. One showing metadata has been changed and one showing metadata is not up to date. No matter what I do it is not showing in LR that it is saved. I spent 2 days with Seth Resnick trying to correct this and we re created my catalog. It was ok, until I imported new images and same problem. Now I have a new problem, when I bring image to PS it saves it but does not bring back to LR. Am I the only one out there who has this problem?
