Deleted features from Pages 4.3 to 5

Please add the following:
1. In Pages 4 we could copy text with citations from another program (such as Logos Bible Software). It would properly paste the text with the citations and footnotes. In Pages 5, attempting that causes only the footnote numbers to be shown, unfortunately just part of text, not as superscripts, and none of the footnotes are shown. This makes the program unusable for academic papers or even business reports.
2. Pictures do not paste where we want them to. This was one of the features that Pages 4 had and Word did not have. Now, it just pastes over other pictures.
3. Bolding a word or statement requires clicking on style and checking emphasis. It took me over an hour to figure this out. Clicking on "B" does nothing.
While I like the clean design, these problems make Pages 5 unusable for me. So, its either back to Pages 4 or switching to Micro$$oft Word (UGH!).

On a mac, when you save docs to icloud, a local copy is also saved. It's saved at:
~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolder where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
If the file(s) are no longer there, then use your Time Machine backups to get copies back to the mac.

Deleting templates from Pages.

I want to delete self created templates from Pages.
I go to Application Support/iWorks'09 but all that is there are 'content' and 'frameworks' folders.
I am running on Lion 10.7.2.
Please can someone assist me.

For some reason the Apple has hidden the Library you need to go to.
The way to the user's Library is hidden in Lion but it is easy to open. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your users Library will appear about halfway down the list.
Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates.

Can't Add CHIP to Catalog and Can't delete Catalog from page

Hi experts:
    I'm working on Renewal configuration. I create some customize pages and add some CHIPs into it. It works normally before.
    But after we upgrade the EA-HR component from 607 to 608, I can't add chip to catalog and can't delete catalog from by using http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/arsrvc_spb_admn/main.html.
    I checked the Error log using Tcode: /IWFND/ERROR_LOG, the error text shows "You cannot change PageConfig in language zh-Hans. Original language: zh", screen shot see below:

Deleting files from Pages

How does one do a mass delete of recently backed up files?

Can you explain what you mean and how you did the backup.
It sounds like you backed up some files and now would like to delete them from your hard drive. Is that correct?
If you used Time Machine to make the backup, you should not delete the original files. TM is not an archival backup. It may eventually delete the backups to make room for backing up the stuff that is still on your Mac.

Can't delete photo from page

I managed to accidentally paste a photo onto one of the grey pages just before the end of the book. I didn't realise that this page is a special, not editable page, but now it has this framed picture on it and it can't be deleted or changed, however I don't want it there. How can I get rid of it?

Okay, I haven't had any responses on this, but it turns out it's a bug in Aperture. The workaround is to delete the picture from the book and then re add the picture to use elsewhere. You then end up with an empty frame which cannot be removed, but as it is empty, it prints blank. Strange but true!

I opened a file to print and by accident highlighted and deleted the content. Then in a panic I closed the file and now when I open it is blank. Is there any way to get it back. I have looked and can not see anyway. I dont have anything in my backup?

I'm not sure about older versions, but in Pages 3.x (OS X 10.9.x) select File > Revert To > Browse All Versions. Hopefully there will be an earlier version that you can "revert to".

Deleting 'document' from Pages

Can someone tell me how to delete a "file" in pages (08)? I can delete text but need to remove the entire document/file. Any help is appreciated.

Close it in Pages, locate it in the Finder(the default save location is the Documents folder in the Finder's sidebar or Dock), and delete that file.

Why did apple remove so many features from pages?

I don't understand, the old version of pages worked so well and I paid for it. Now I can't download the older version I had before Yosemite. It's like a stripped down version that does not work half as well as it used to.

The simpler you make things the less strain you put on people's poor little brains who find computers such horribly complex things, now aren't they, there, there? If they just revert it back to something like TeachText nobody would be able to complain about complicated menus and formatting... And who wants icky old versions? If there is more than one version to download then it leads to horribly complicated decision-making which causes emotional strain.

My DW CS4 pages wont show on browser until I deleted recordset from pages. Why any one?

After designing my search and blog site, and went on to try to add image upload so clients and visitors could upload images, to the site, but instead things fell apart shortly after that. I started to have serious design problem.
I start to witness problem with the recordset on the registration page, login page search and the rest of the recordset where ever they live in the design. Presently, I am using MSN SQL SERVER 2005 for my database and I didn’t see any problem using it. I also used msn access in the past before turning to SQL.
Haven’t said all these, my question are to see if any one knows how to fix my problem.
PROBLEM: When I open any of the pages to test my design, the page will not open on the browser. It will rather point to recordset on the error 404 page and soon the recordset is completely taken out of the page, the page will then open on the browser. Does any one know how I could fix the problem I have with Dreamweaver CS4?

You have scripting errors on the page. First step is to turn off friendly error messages in your browser to see if it will provide more meaningful error messages. However, since it's a 404, it could be that your host has disabled detailed error reporting as a security measure. Try to get that enabled so you can see the details of the errors. Without that, it's nearly impossible to troubleshoot.

Finding accidentally deleted files from pages

I was working on an essay when my pages decided to shut down, saying there was an error. I was nearly finished and do not want to start again! How can I retrieve this file !

Sad news, Matthew. If it was not saved, it's gone. You don't have Time Machine set up?
If you do a search, you can find several auto-saves referenced. Sounds like something you need.

If you are having trouble selecting the shape, try holding down the command key and clicking on its edge so you see the corner selection boxes, then hit the Delete key.

How do I delete a blank page and rearrange pages in Pages 5.0?

I have several blank pages in my document, there is nothing on the page - except the header and footer - and I can't delete the blank pages ... in the previous version you this by selecting the page thumbnail on the left hand side and using the delete key - but this doesn't work ..
Also you could re-arrange the page order by moving around the thumbnails ... but now this does not work ... so how do I rearrange the pages in a newsletter?

Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 yjis is one of them.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5, after Exporting your files to Pages '09, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Is there a document outline feature on Pages 5.0.1

Pages '09 has this neat little feature where i can detail the paragraph style useing the document outline feature. I am looking for this in the newer version of Pages but i can not seem to find it. I do know how to edit the paragraph styles but it is the particular outline feature that i am looking for.
I'm just hopeing is somewhere deeply hidden in the program where i have yet to look.

Trash/archive Pages 5, after Exporting all your files to Pages '09, and rate/review it in the App Store.

Templates from Pages disappeared?

I created a newsletter last October using a template from Pages and it was awesome. Now I'm trying to create another one and there are only 4 templates for newsletter. What happened to the rest that I saw in October? Did I lose them after upgrading to OS Mavericks? Where do I find them again?

Your version of Pages '08/'09 was upgraded to Pages 5.
Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5. Because Pages 5 can not do much of what was in Pages '09, Apple removed 2/3rds of the templates in Pages 5 and simplified the rest.
