Deleted files still showing/opening in MS Excel

Hi
I have 6 files in MS excel that were deleted from my docs in finder and I did secure empty of the trash. However, the files still appear and can be opened in excel. I tried searching for them by file name but can't seem to locate where excel is hiding them on my MacBook Air. I'm running Mountain Lion 10.8.3 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011.

Red Dwarf - Thanks for the reply, the files were not in emails and i was not able to get the yellow box but you gave me another idea. I added a footer to the document with the path name to see where it was and discovered that it was saving it as a template. So after more searching I was able to find a solution on an office support page which I have shared below. Thanks
In the Finder, open /Users/ username/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/My Templates.
NOTE If you are using Mac OS X 7 (Lion), the Library folder is hidden by default. To show the Library folder, in the Finder, click the Go menu, and then hold down OPTION .
Drag the templates that you want to delete to the Trash.

Deleted files still shows in playlist

I've deleted several files but they still show in my playlist.    I've tried shift delete and it didn't help.
I tried right click and Get Info, it shows their locations as http://feedproxy.google.com/etc...etc...etc...   All other undeleted files are on my local drive.
Anyone else seen this?

Just found something.
In my podcast, there is a My Episodes tab and a Feed tab.    These files even though deleted from iTunes and my computer, still show up in the Feed tab with cloud icons to be re-downloaded. That's where the playlists are getting these files from.
Never had this issue before. I added another criteria to the smart playlist that the files had to be on my computer and that fixed it.

have a text convo with the person you want to delete. Go to the top contact in the text convo, hit edit contact, and delete that contact.
That resolution came from another thread on this issue, and this did solve to poster's issue.

Dynamic link in Encore to get AE project, bluray, after transcoding, file still shows untranscoded

Hi,
I have an After Effects file. I have several comps that are 1920x1080 at 29.97 drop frame. When I go to Encore, I use, Import After Effects Composition and import several compositions from my AE project. I've tried using both Automatic transcode settings and I've tried to set the settings myself. When I transcode, Encore goes through the motions, but when it's done, the file still shows "Untranscoded". I have checked the project folder and confirmed that the transcoded files are indeed there, but Encore still shows them as untranscoded. What is going on?

Transcod your comp in AME. Choose H.264 Blu-Ray if you have more than 2 hours videos.

Sometimes the Junk Email rule is damaged. An example of this can be seen here:

I would try a couple of things:
Try enabling the Junk Mail Filter, restart outlook, disable it again, and restart.
Or you may find that the just removing the junk mail rule manually using MFCMAPI may do what you want.
One last thing to look into... Does the mailbox do Exchange ActiveSync with a Samsung Android device? If so check here:

Check the Recently Deleted album. Deleted photos will reside there for up to 30 days. This allows all those people who accidently delete photos to recover them, something they couldn't do before. To actually free up the space you might have to delete the photos in the Recently Deleted album.

Deleted files still using up disk space

Long story. Transferred 30Gb of mpegs from my wife's laptop to mine via firewire target disk mode on wife's machine. Logged off to disconnect and when I unplugged, got the disk wasn't ejected error. I thought it was. I had deleted the 30G from my wife's hd before disconnecting. Now, the files are gone from the desktop, but the disk space didn't free up. Still shows only 6 GB free. If I hook it up as a target disk, it shows the 36 free, but when running on its own, only 6 is free. I've repaired permissions, executed all maintenance scripts, repaired disk, verified disk, and run every test in Tech Tool Pro 4 with no help. Turned on invisible files, force emptied the trash with Cocktail, still no help. If you add up the size on all the folders, it gives 30GB less than the drive itself says is used. Where are those files and how do I get the space back?

From the wife's Mac, open Terminal (applications / utilities / Terminal)
For all of these type in's I say to do, do whats inside the quotes and not the quotes themselves. Or do a copy and paste if you aren't sure on a letter... And press Return after you type them in.
Type in "cd /"
Type in "ls -al"
You should see a .Trashes in here at the top of the list.
Type in "cd .Trashes"
Type in "ls" here and see what you get. It will probably be a folder named 501 for the admin account from your Mac.
If so, do an "rm -R /.Trashes/501/"
and watch your disk space.
If it complains to you that you don't have permissions, you will have to type in "sudo rm -R /.Trashes/501/"

Deleted workspace still shows in dock Xcode application menu

I deleted a workspace, but still shows on the dock app menu (just above Options and/or Open Developer Tool), if I click on it nothing happens...because it has been deleted of course.
How can I get remove it from menu?

Deleted app, still showing as installed, can't reinstall

I deleted Illustrator and a couple of ther apps from my cloud stack to save space, but didn't notice the uninstall tool on each app. I used a tool call app cleaner that finds and deletes associated files.
All else is fine, but the app manager still shows Illustrator as installed and there seems to be no way to download and reinstall. The other apps deleted the same way show as uninstalled and the installed apps are still working fine, just a phantom Illustrator listing in the app manager that I'd like to reset.

It seems there is still some Illustrator files present on the machine that is being detected by AAM. Let's run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and remove the remnants of Ai CS6.

Dropped FileGroup/Files still show up in Sys.Master_Files and MSDB.dbo.backupfile

I am wondering why is that when a filegroup/file is removed from the DB, it still shows up in sys.master_files and msdb.dbo.backupfile.
To reproduce, just create a database and add a filegroup or file to an existing file and delete that filegroup\file.
Now,Query Sys.master_files and you can still see the deleted Filegroup/file for the database. Of course the State_desc shows as 'Offline' but I am wondering why it is not removed completely.
Also, if you take a backup and query the msdb.dbo.backupfile, it will show up there as well. Again, State_desc = 'Dropped' but why is it not removed completely.

Hi Andrew--Msdb.dbo.backupfile showing online is correct because the backup was taken when file group was active. However, I do not see what you are seeing, ie, when I drop the filegroup/file, i still see it in the sys.master_files. and in msdb.dbo.backupfile.
I tested this is on both sql2008R2 build 10.50.4000 and sql 2012 sp1.

The above queried also returned 'DROPPED' filegroup. (I could upload the screen shot but it errors saying i could upload only 2 images)
I tired querying the sys.master_files and took a backup and queried msdb.dbo.backupfile after restarting the instance and I still see the same thing...

I have an iphone 4. I deleted some contacts from my contact list, and they still show up in the autocomplete list when I type an email and start typing a contact in the 'to' field. How do I get them to not be in that list anymore? Is it possible?

The only way to get rid of the autocomplete list is to restore your phone as NEW.
