Deleted groups in iChat 6.0 keep reappearing

I have just installed Lion and noticed that a few moments after I delete unwanted default buddy groups (Facebook Family, really?) they reappear. Has anyone else run into this problem and/or found a solution yet?
Thanks

Hi,
As some accounts/Screen Names allow Multiple Logins you can get this problem.
I will give two AIM Examples.
Issue 1
The AIM Account info (if you set one up) Tab in the iChat Preferences allows you to Add a group to your Buddy List called Recent Buddies.
These are Buddies that have contacted you but that have you have not formally added to your List.
You cannot delete Buddies from the list/Group.  (Technically they are not in your Buddy list)
Other than turning it Off in iChat 4 and 5 it is almost impossible to Delete the Group.
To explain this further.
AIM call Buddies "Food"
They call the places "Food" is kept as "Feedbags"
So, your Buddy List as in those Buddies whose Screen Names you have added to iChat is kept on the AIM server (Feedbag 1 if you like)
Your Address Book is another Feedbag (Number 2) and the software adds the real name to the Screen Name and that's what you see.
The Recent Buddies Group is a third Feedbag that you only have Read Access to. (AIM keeps this list at their end - realistically it is a list that displays as a Group).
Issue 2
Lets say you have a work Computer and a Home Computer and both are logged in to iChat and the AIM servers.
WHen you try delete a Buddy in the list when you are at Home the  Work Computer will re-add the Buddy again as it is it's Buddy list
You can then spend ages trying to delete a Buddy you no longer want.
This can be complicated but automatic sign in periods when using the AIM Web  site (the default is 2 weeks)
So if you used AIM Express for example you may still be logged in via a web page and the Buddy list cannot have deletions.  (you can add Buddies)
Just logging in to the AIM site with a Login can do this without using AIM Express.
Chunking this up to other Accounts/Screen Names
Google also have a default Login period.  (ever noticed your name always apppears at the top when you go to a Google page ?)
FaceBook is similar.
It does make it easier for that greeting.
People tend to think that quitting a page logs them out.
(you should always Log out.).
FaceBook works on the idea that you can constantly say what is going on and make changes to your Status.
As far as Chat is concerned it makes it look like you are having conversations over days if now weeks.
This dopes mean there is a second Login which is keeping things as they are - if they are Buddies only.
FaceBook may also run groups similar to AIM that are hard to Delete or can only be changed at Facebook's settings
Things to Try
An AIM Account can have Multiple Logins turned Off.
If you then Quit iChat and restart it you will get a Message from AIM asking if you want to log the other Login Off Line.  (You type yes as a response )
Jabber Accounts (Google and Faceook) allow Multiple Logins by default.
You may have to Edit things at the source whilst Logged out of iChat.

Getting the message "your mail could not be moved to trash", and keeps reappearing as not read or deleted.

Did you have Hotmail set-up with Android prior?  I did, and if you did too, you have the same problem, and this is how to solve it.
From your desktop computer, the Hotmail (or Outlook) website uses the folder "Deleted" for your deleted messages as default.  On your iPhone, the deleted folder's name by default is "Trash".
When I had my Hotmail with Android, it created a folder Trash for deleted messages, and it's creation was amongst all my folders.  So when you go back and look at Hotmail from your desktop, you will see a folder Trash, in addition to the default Deleted.  My Trash folder had all the emails I deleted from my Android.
That said, with the manual folder Trash that was created, when trying to set-up Hotmail now on iPhone, because I already had a folder Trash, it conflicted with the default "Trash" folder it wanted to created, so it didn't create it, being the reason why you can't delete emails, because it doesn't have the defaulted "Trash" folder to go to.
The solution is to delete the folder "Trash" from your desktop, uninstall Hotmail from your iPhone, and re-install, and it worked, the defaulted "Trash" was then created, alongside the "Sent" and "Junk".

  • Deleted Files keep reappearing

I've tried everything - there are 12 files which after deleted and emptying trash - keep reappearing on my desktop
I've recreated the Trash Bin, ran Chkdsk, started in SAFE Mode and deleted, nothing.  Any ideas on what is causing this and how to remedy?
    thanks

Only have 1 account - that's mine and it is the administrator.
What are these files? (full name & extension?)
When were they created? (date & time?)
By the way - running a machine on just one admin account is a high-risk way of doing things. If something went wrong with this account you would have a huge problem. In these forums we deal with such issues on a daily basis. A spare admin account, fully
tested and documented, is as important as having a spare house key (and for much the same reason!).

  • Mail deleted massages keep reappearing

I am a Mavericks operating & macbook user. I have noticed that every time I use Mail and delete unwanted messages, they keep reappearing again.
Is there a way to make Mac Mail is the Master and Yahoo/Gmail/Outlook is the slave, so that every action taken in Mail will be reflected in its relative mail box?
    Regards,

    Hello Joe.
What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
Certain messages keep re-appearing in my inBox, even when I delete them.
You may be able to get rid of those messages in Mail doing Edit > Cut (⌘X) (for best results do it with one message or just a few at a time), but you should remove them from the server first if they’re still there.
Mail is only receiving some of the email messages sent to me.
Do you have any custom rules? It looks like Mail is downloading all the messages, but your rules are processing them in an unexpected way...
Open the Account Info window by choosing Get Info (⌘I) from the Action menu (gear icon) located below the mailbox list in the main Mail window. Does Mail display there the messages that it doesn’t download? Do they appear as already downloaded or as not downloaded yet (dot column)?

  • Deleted photostream photos keep reappearing in photo stream.

If I delete a photo from my photostream must both my iPhones be connected to the Internet at time of deletion for it to completely delete? I've deleted a few photos from photostream and they keep reappearing. Photos were removed from camera roll.

    Yes, using Wi-Fi.

  • Deleted emails keep reappearing, can anyone help?

We have deleated the same emails several times but they keep reappearing, can anyone help

In mail, highlight on the left your mailbox, then on the menu bar click mailbox, then rebuild. The deleted emails should be gone.

  • Apple Mail 2.1.3 (OS X 10.4.11) deleted message keeps reappearing

I sent a mail that exceeded the maximum size of the recipients mailbox. When the mail-delivery message came back, my system HD was full and the incoming mail could not be stored. After I got my Mac back running, the mail-delivery-error-message keeps reappearing – even after deletion.
When I delete the message in the inbox and in the trash, it reappears as soon as I click on "Inbox". If I open the message and click the "Delete Message" icon, it stays and appears in my trash as often as I clicked it. How can I get rid of that message?
    Thanx.

If you know what you are doing it may be simplest to backup all emails and Mail settings and progressively remove Mail settings and files until you find the problem.
Make sure you do not delete more than you have to from the server.
Perhaps start by checking the server via web access to see that it looks OK at that end and does not have your large file stuck somewhere.

  • HT204003 how do I permanently delete a pass from my passbook account? (It keeps reappearing after being deleted.)

I have a pass in passbook that keeps reappearing after being deleted. It pops up (location sensitive) despite the fact that I have disabled the location services, repeatedly. I need to permanently delete it.

    Hi, sophiaskoub.
Thank you for the question.  The most common cause for this is having Automatic Downloads enabled on the secondary computer.  See the first article on how to disable this feature.  The other attached articles cover how to delete media from iTunes and hiding any purchases that have been made.

  • Mailbox keeps reappearing after I delete it.

This isn't a major problem, but I have a subfolder in my trash mailbox that keeps reappearing after I delete it (it shows up as "on my mac"). I didn't create that mailbox and I really don't want it. How do I delete it for good?

These are "On My Mac" mailboxes.
When creating a mailbox in Mail, the default location is "On My Mac" which is stored locally on the hard drive.
If you have a .Mac or IMAP type account, you can also choose the account name as the location to create a mailbox stored on the server.

  • Deleted emails keep reappearing-GoDaddy delay the cause.. How to relocate to gmail?

For 4 months my deleted emails keep reappearing 3-5 times.  After 4 consultations with my web and mail host, GODaddy and 4 with Apple Geniuses and both blaming the other, An Apple trainer opined, and a GoDaddy supervisor Reluctlantly confirmed that there is a long delay in GoDaddy when I delete email in MAIL. Go Daddy sup admitted that they have had this problem for the same period I have been going crazy with it.  He suggested that since they did not know when it would be fixed that I move my email accounts (not my web sites) from GoDaddy to Gmail, but not to do itmyself, or I might lose much!  Apple genius does not wan to do it, nor does GoDaddy!  Any suggestions?

    Thank you, Ernie.
These are all IMAP.  I see trash on the server and on MAIL.  deletine Trash used to work from MAIL, but in last 4 months, if I want something to take effect, I work from the web mail of go daddy and MAIL gets the message.
So you suggest I go to Gmail and set up accounts ( I assume they  will walk me through )  (starting from my current gmail acct that my android uses-- or start from scratch?)  to receive email addressed to my current email addresses?  Then by not transfering out of goDaddy, I won't lose lots of email and mail files, folders in the transition?
There is a discussion on this topic of GoDaddy delays, from 2010 and 2011. So I may not be alone with the problem now.
    Best,
    Gayle

  • Deleted passwords keep reappearing!!!!

The Saved Passwords list of  the Safari's Password & Autofill keeps getting repopulated after I delete them on my iPhone 6!!!
I tried everything from turning the Keychain on and off, resetting my iPhone's settings and resetting the iPhone altogether.
Nothing seems to work and its really frustrating, I did easily remove the credit card entry and it didn't reappear.
Please let me know how to get rid of the saved passwords so that they stay deleted and don't reappear.

This certainly is a security defect introduced after iCloud sync was introduced!!!!
i Have tried all of the following:
    1. Removal of iCloud account from iPad. This process pro, puts for deleting synced keychain password and I did that
    2. Removed device passcode and forced passowd wipe while doing that
    3. Removed password manually from auto fill and password page
    but nothing works !!!!
the passwords keep reappearing. The biggest threat is that all are visible in plain text to anyone who can access my iPad.
Apple seems to be stubborn and in mess.

  • Deleted shows keep reappearing

Every time my DVR resets or reboots, all shows that I have deleted since Jan 11 reappear. I keep deleting, and the same shows keep reappearing. I have never had his problem before, but it is happening daily since Jan 11 because my DVR reboots every night around 7:00 for some reason. Getting very annoying and Verizon rep's only comment was "that's strange"
