Deleted i photo file + empty trash !

i have deleted the I photo file from my document and empty the trash i'm trying to recover it back  but could not find file with I photo name , i'm finding the pictures one by one , is it bossible ? time machine is not active

No you cannot recover the iPhoto Library. The Library is just a special kind of folder containing thousands of other files and folders, all linked by a couple of database files.
The best you can hope to do is to recover the individual files and then start over from scratch.
Mny of the files may have the same name. Always chose to recover the largest size.
Of course, with a back up...

  • I deleted a large file, emptied trash but recovered no space

I needed to restore a large file (about 70 Gb) from Time Capsule to my MBP but had only 36 Gb available.  I deleted a 70 Gb file from the MBP but the free space available did not increase after I deleted the file (and emptied Trash).  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try to see what hidden files or folders take up much space.
Perhaps you have installed programs that protects from permanently remove trash.
Open a terminal and type the command, after each line, press enter:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -boolean true
    killall Finder
This command enables the display of hidden files on disk
Be careful not to delete the folder if you do not know their meaning.
    The reverse is
    defaults delete com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles
    killall Finder

OK, here are a set of screenshots with my step by step - maybe you will be able to spot where I've gone awry:
I find a photo in the Library that I will delete from an album:
I go down to my Albums and find the picture in one of them:
I hover over the pic so the little down arrow appears in the bottom right-hand corner. I click on it, then click on the Trash Can in the window that drops down:
    Gone from the Album:
    Gone from the Library:
    In the Trash:
    Whaddup with that?

  • Why can't I delete simple photo files even with admin access?

I'm cleaning my Time Capsule HD deleting some photo files. Most of them were just moved to trash, but when I try to move a specific folder, the OS asks my password saying that Finder wants to make changes. After typing in my password I receive a message that I don't have permission to access some of the items. It dosn't make any sense since I, same account tring to delete them, have copied these files into that folder.
    I really appreciate any support.
    Thaks and regards,
    Alex

Are you trying to delete files from your Time Machine backup?  Don't do that!! If you have files/photos you wish to delete then delete them from iPhoto or whatever photo application you are using. They will be removed from the backup by the TimeMachine backup system. Your backup is not a simple file it is a time/event dependent organizational picture of your system sort of like a multilayered transparent collage, but if you start pulling random pieces out it will collapse the file system. • Disk utility to prevent the recover of deleted files / empty trash securely

I just used the disk utility to prevent the recover of deleted files...
It created a recovery folder which I tried to empty trash securely...i the got a message saying there are some locked items and I responded to remove all items...
It would not let me do that the file stayed in the trash until I changed the setting and just emptied the trash the conventional way..
Can anyone tell me why that is happening???

Disk Drill, and all other file recovery apps for the Mac will recover every deleted file it can find on the drive. However, it should not have been at all possible to recover the ones you deleted with Secure Empty Trash. All files currently in the trash have every bit of their data overwritten 7 times with random data.
Were these part of what was recovered? Or just other normally deleted items?

  • Recovering photos from emptied trash

Is there ANY way to recover photos after the trash has been emptied?
They are not in the Finder folder as I have been reorganizing my computer recently, and the trash has been accidentally emptied prematurely. PLEASE tell me this can be fixed, my enitre iphoto library is gone.

    Ok, new mystery.
The File Salvage software is about $80., for anyone reading this thread who interested in their product. My husband pointed out that we have an external backup, and had just used it, so I went looking for the deleted photos on there, and finally found them. The photos have been restored now to the iMac (overwriting their original volumes) and though I can find them in the hard drive, and can see them in Preview, I cannot get iPhoto to display them.
Any suggestions on how to get the iPhoto software to see these "old" photos? Should I have restored them to the Desktop, and then re-imported them into the iPhoto program?
Thanks much for your assistance/advice. It is wonderful to know that someone (or several someones) is/are out there to help those of us not-quite-so-computer-literate folks.

  • Delete only one file from Trash

    Hello There,
I do not want to empty my entire Trash folder but only some files which i know I am not going to use it. Is there a way to delete only selected files and not just empty trash...
Thanks in advance for the help..
    NA

    nAyer,
When I place files in the Trash, I expect that they will be deleted. IMHO Trash is not a good place to store files that I may have second thoughts about eliminating.
I have created a folder which I named "B4 Trash," and placed it on my Desktop. If I really want to throw something away, I put it in the Trash and empty the Trash. If I am not sure about deletion, I place it in B4 Trash and get rid of it at my leisure.
Why not drag all of the files in Trash to a folder you create on your Desktop called B4 Trash, and then drag the files you really want to get rid of back to the Trash. Then empty the Trash.
    ;~)

  • IPhoto '09 version 8.1.2:  If I permanently delete the photos in IPhoto trash, will the same duplicate photos be deleted from the Events library?

For IPhoto '09, version 8.1.2:  If I permanently delete the photos from the IPhoto trash, will any of the duplicate photos in the IPhoto library also be deleted?

    1. There are no duplicates in iPhoto unless you imported two or more copies of the same photo
    2. If you are useing the defaults in iPhoto and delete a photo from an event and empty the iPhoto trash and the system trash all versions of the photo will be gone

  • Lightroom 5.5 grid view fails to load some images.  These do load in develop, then re-appear in grid.  Re-installed 5.4 (after deleting 5.5, then emptying trash in 10.9.5) and it now exhibits same behavior.  Suggestions?

These same images fail to load in slideshows; "loading" appears without the image ever appearing.  I can export these grayed-out images and retrieve the image content in the exported file.  Not being able to see all images in grid view is an inconvenience for sure; e.g., I can't review all the contents of a collection before posting it.  This behavior didn't occur until I upgraded to 5.5.  Now it has migrated back into 5.4, despite having selected 5.5 and emptying trash before the re-install.

Whoa this is happening to me...

  • Help! Accidently deleted Itunes library and emptied trash.

I accidently deleted my Itunes library and emptied the trash. I do have Time Machine. Can I use that to restore it? I went into Time Machine and couldn't click on the "Music" folder where my Itunes library was stored, even on backups earlier than when I deleted it. Am I doomed? How can I restore my library?

Sure. Just open up Time Machine and choose a time frame when your library still existed. Find the file and click restore.

  • Deleting a single file in Trash goes to Desktop. Why?

    Hi,
When I delete a single item in the Trash, it ends up on the Desktop.
Why doesn't it just get deleted rather than be sent to the Desktop?
Is there any way of deleting a single item in the Trash without deleting all of its content?

With the file on your Desktop try restarting.
Can not select a single file in the trash can to delete if the trash can is multiple files.
There are ways of using Terminal.

  • How do I delete hidden photo files?

When I'm on the road I use my iPad as a depository for my camera photos. I remove the chip from my camera insert it into the iPad card reader and upload them. Some are .jpg and some are .orf files (the RAW format for Olympus pictures).  My Usage meter for photos now reads 30.5GB used for photos but I only have a handful showing. I know the .orf files are there but not seen as when I download to Lightroom they are imported but I can't see them on the iPad to delete them from the iPad. I can delete their .jpg brothers but I can't see or delete the .orf hidden raw files.  Regardless of the number of seen .jpg files I delete, I can't move the 30.5gb usage number.  My usage says 30.5gb so I continually get no more room error messages but can't find a way to clear out my photo folder.  I don't sync photos with my desktop.  I would be willing to erase all photos but don't know how. Even if I could select every photo through "Selection" it doesn't get at the hidden files. Any ideas?

Do my computer need to take up 220GB of my hard drive to work? I have tons of external hard disks, but I need to be able to have my basic documents on my Mac.

  • Emails saved in my Saved folder are deleted when I click Empty Trash! Is there a fix for this?

What more details are needed to answer this question? I put some emails in my Saved folder. However, when I want to delete just the emails I have read, the Saved emails are deleted along with the ones I want deleted. If they're saved, why would they be deleted? I want them saved!

  • Deleting Optimized Photos File

I understand that synching photos means taking up a lot more memory because iTunes creates an 'optimized ' photos folder. I made that too big and now want to get rid of it, please can someone tell me how to find it?
    Thanks

When you first set up the iPod did you set it to "copy from selected albums only"? If that's the case then remove the photos from the iPhoto album that you linked to when you set the preference and update the iPod. Also if you checked the box "Include full-resolution photos" you'll have two copies of your photos on the iPod, the "Thumbnail" version that you view and the full scale version in another folder. Unticking it will remove the full size photos and save you space.

  • IPhoto 9.1.3 bug: emptying trash causes photos to vanish

In the latest version of iPhoto 11, there is a bug:
If I am viewing an event, and I delete a photo then empty the trash, all the photos in that event that are left will appear to vanish. They won't *actually* vanish - the photos are still there. I just can't see them. I have to quit then relaunch iPhoto to make them visible again.
    Anyone else notice this bug?

I see that issue as well although it seems to happen inconsistently.  It happens in brand new libraries as well.
