Deleted ical.app from my Mac. Can it be restored?

I thought I was cleaning out space from my hard drive and have deleted several items from my library, including the calendar app.  I keep getting this error message (user/ is not a location that supports this request), which lead me to discover that the calendar is completely gone.  When I search for it, it looks like this
I tried to use my OS disk to learn how to re-install it, but when the disk loads, I get the white circle with the slash through the Install Mac OSX icon.
I haven't backed it up, I haven't got Time Machine either (I'm batting a thousand here, I know).  I've read that I can have another Mac user email me these packages and I can re-install them.  Can anyone expand on that for me?
Thanks!

hdixon78,
In order to reinstall Calendar you will have to follow the instructions listed in OS X Mountain Lion: Reinstall OS X.

  • How can I delete a app from the Mac App Store completely?

I have a apllication which had a error. I delete it and download the app from the Mac App Store again, but the error wasn't delete. My iMac had stored it and the Error wasn't deleted so I can't youse the app.
What can I do to delete the app complete?
    Please answer.

If your App was faulty in some way you should write to iTunes support.   If you simply want to delete it, most Apps carry uninstall (not delete) instructions.
Incidentally, I believe you cannot delete the record of your purchase from iTunes.   That will always stay on your purchases list and be marked with a dark grey square as INSTALL..

  • How can i completely delete message app from my mac?

how can i completely delete the message app from my mac?

    As per email.
    Hi,
In the Finder (have any window open), Use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
This will show the Library in the Menu, select this.
    Navigate to the Preferences folder.
Find the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist file and drag it to the Trash.
This is the one Messages reads directly to create the Receive At list and, if shown, the Start Conversations From drop down.
If Messages was starting properly and you restarted it at the point you would have to re-enter the Apple ID.
    On the iPhone.
Go to Settings > Messages  and check the app is ON first.
Then check the Send and Receive Section.
This will always list the iPhone Number as ticked and Greyed out (You can’t edit it).
Having said that I have twice found the Number to be Unchecked (whilst still grey out).
If this is the case go to the Apple ID section and Remove the Apple ID.
This will also remove it from the Send and Receive section (you can’t do it the other way round.)
Once that is done, place the iPhone in Airplane mode to break with the Servers.
After a few minutes take it out of Airplane Mode and return to Setting > Messages
You should see the iPhone Number being Verified. Wait until this is done.
(I would normally suggest sending an iMessage to the Apple ID at this point as it would be the only Active ID on the Mac. And sending a reply)
You can now add the Apple ID back to the iPhone if you wish to use that as well, if you intend to use it.
If not then you way want this site https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage
Please stick to one method of asking me  (The thread will do for now.)
I am here 3 hours every evening.
I read all the new post regarding email alerts from the boards.
I then filter the Yosemite, Mavericks and iChat Areas using the Contents page and where require Messages or iMessages and deal with unread one.
Posting here at 2.41PM (according to the Time view I have) and then emailing me 11 minutes later seems like you are giving me the hurry up.
In the email and this Post you are not clear if you want Messages to work again.
Removing the com.apple.ichat.plist may help with that.  (The Status Message one will not)
You may find checking the Font Book and the AppleGothic Font  is the answer.

  • Can I delete my apps from my Mac and leave them in the iCloud and they will be on my phone?

I see there is backup options on my mac and then backup on the icloud. If i delete all the apps, after they are backed up in the cloudm on my mac am i still good to go on my iPhone? I have 110 apps so it could free up some good space. Thanks!

I believe so, but I am not 100% sure. It is easy enough to test. Try deleting some of your free apps, then retry restoring them and see what happens. You should be able to restore them in the Apps app in the "purchased" tab.

  • I deleted an app from my mac but it still says that i need an update but i can do this because i downloaded it from another apple id

    what to do?

Ignore it unless you actually now want the application. In that case redownload it then update it by logging into the App Store with the other Apple ID.

  • ITunes deleted my apps from my Mac after syncing my iPad

I have had my iPad for almost a year with no problems syncing (apps, music, etc purchased on my iPad).  I recently tried to sync my ipad and all of a sudden iTunes started deleting all of the apps I had purchased on my ipad.  The apps (Angry Birds, etc) were not only deleted from my iPad, but they were erased from my iTunes library.  I have searched everywhere on my Mac's hard drive and I cannot find any of them.
I know that I can look back through my purchase history and then redownload the apps, but I would rather 'undelete' them if it is possible.  I also unfortunately did not back up anything.  Lesson learned I guess.

I think I found the problem. When I tried to synch photos to my ipod touch and I clicked apply, the synch all the apps automatically was probably clicked also which made my apps go from my ipod touch to my itunes. I was able to synch again my apps but some of them with data (like my air canada app with my data for my flights) did not have the data anymore. I had to start again. Is there a way to save your app with the data?

  • Deleted an app from Itunes 11 - would like to restore it - where did it go?

Deleted an appfrom Itunes 11 - where did it go? not sure if I checked move to recycle or the other option.  sorry to bother everyone about this but Itunes help is opaque and useless, it seems.

Apple states that it keeps your last 3 iCloud backups, which would only go back a few days if you back up daily.  Also, apps are not stored in the backup, only your app data is.  The backup simply notes which apps were on your phone when it was backed up, then downloads them from the App store when you restore the backup.  If the app is no longer available in the App store, it will not be restored to the phone when you restore the backup.

I tried to use the attached command through TERMINAL :
    sqlite3 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';" && killall Dock
sqlite3: Error: too many options: "DELETE from apps WHERE title='Help';"
Use -help for a list of options.
But i didn't work as I got the above error message.

I'm in the same boat as you -- except that I manage both a school lab (volunteer job) and macs in the enterprise (pay job).  What I think we need is the Education Volume Purchasing Program
    http://www.apple.com/education/volume-purchase-program/faq.html
Unfortunately this all seems a little rough around the edges -- for example, I have found updates for AppStore apps on the support.apple.com updates download site, but then when I install them via ARD they don't actually update the software.  (The AppStore icons still show as needing the updates, and the version info reports the old version.)  The documentation is also vague about which AppleID to use in which circumstance.  I think they just haven't finished thinking through the implications of the various procedures and policies upon the various kinds of customers.  When we deployed Mountain Lion on the school lab, we made an install usb and went around and installed it on each computer -- and it appears that you are on the honor system as far as paying for all of the licenses that you install.  We did!  But they appear to have no way to enforce it.
So far, I have only deployed 9 Lion macs in my day job, and our "solution" to the AppStore showing updates problem has been to drag the AppStore icon off of the users' docks so they don't see them!

  • Can I install an app from the mac app store on just my login?

I'd like to download apps from the mac app store to just my login and NOT have them installed on other users logins.  how can I do this?

In your Mac, you have two Applications folder: /Applications, and ~/Applications.
The first one is the used by default and it stores the applications that are going to be used by all users. The second one is stored in your user folder (~ refers to the user folder), and you have to put the apps you only want to use yourself in this app.
First, open Finder, select Applications folder in the sidebar and copy all the apps you want, selecting them with Command key and then, pressing Command and C keys. After that, select Go menu > Go to Folder, type ~/Applications, and press Command and V keys there to paste your applications.
Finally, go back to /Applications and delete the copied apps, so only you will be able to access to those applications

  • Can't delete old apps from iTunes. 'Delete' greyed out

I would like to delete a number of old apps from my iTunes.  However, when I go to the 'Apps' tab and highlight the app it doesn't delete.  Also, when I go into 'Edit', the 'Delete' button is greyed out.  I have tried logging out of my iTunes account and logging back in, switching the computer on and off and also by trying with both plugging in both my iPhone and iPad.  Nothing works!  I would much appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks.

    Hi bickyk,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below explains how to delete apps from your Mac, iPhone or iPad.  On your Mac, you should be able to click on the app to select it, and then press Delete on your keyboard.
If for some reason you are not able to delete the app from your computer, you can hide it instead.  Click on the link below for complete details.  I've highlighted the key points for you.
How to delete content you've downloaded from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT5772
You can delete items that you bought from the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store from your iOS device, Mac, or PC. Because Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation) plays content from the cloud, you don't need to delete items from your Apple TV.
Before you delete an item, make sure you can download it again. If you can't or need to pay to download it again, back up the item before you delete it.
After you delete an item, it might still be visible if you can download it again from iTunes in the Cloud. The Download  icon will appear next to these items. You can hide items available in iCloud and purchases from the Mac App Store.
    Apps
Open the section below for the device you're using.
    iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Tap and hold the app you want to delete.
The apps will begin to jiggle.
Tap the X on the app.
    Mac or PC
    Open iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Apps.
Click the app you want to delete.
    Press Delete on your keyboard.
Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4928
    Hide your purchases
If you hide an item you purchased in the Mac App Store, you won't get update notifications for it, and you won't see it on your Purchases page. If you're using Family Sharing, hidden items will also be hidden from your family members.
Use these steps on OS X Mountain Lion or later:
    Open the Mac App Store.
Choose Store > Sign In, then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
Right-click the item that you want to hide and choose Hide Purchase. A prompt will ask if you're sure that you want to hide the item.
Click the Hide Purchase button. The item will fade. The item below it, if there is one, will replace it in the list.
Use these steps on OS X Lion:
    Open the Mac App Store.
Choose Store > Sign In, then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
Locate the item that you want to hide.
Click the X to the right of that item. The item will fade. The item below it, if there is one, will replace it in the list.
I hope this information helps ....

How can I completely delete an app from my Macbook Pro?

For programs that do not require an Administrator's password to install on your Mac, drag its program icon to the Trash. For those that require a password, research its developer's website or other support options for specific uninstallation instructions.
Never use all-purpose "cleaners" or "zappers" or similarly named clever utilities to uninstall anything.

    Remove documents from iCloud
You can remove documents stored in iCloud by deleting them from any of your devices that have iCloud set up for Documents & Data. Removing your documents from iCloud reduces the amount of iCloud storage space you’re using.
Remove iCloud documents from your iOS device
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage.
Under Documents & Data, tap the app that has a document you want to delete, then tap Edit.
Remove iCloud documents from your Mac
Open iCloud preferences, then click Manage.
Select an app on the left, then select one or more documents on the right.
Click Delete (below the list of apps).
You can also remove documents from iCloud by moving them to your Mac with OS X v10.8 or later. For instructions, use go to the Finder on your Mac, choose Help > Help Center, then search for “save documents.”

  • I want to know how to delete game apps from my macbook pro also can i trust any macbook cleaners or keepers?

I want to know how to delete game apps from my macbook pro also can i trust any macbook cleaners or keepers? My mac seems to be running a bit off.

To delete any type of app you need to open the Finder window and highlight the app you want to delete by moving it to the trash. Empty the trash and it's gone. There are some Apple provided apps that cannot be deleted but you should not have any issue with the games.
As for cleaners, I personally don't use them but the 911 and Mackeeper are very popular and I hear work pretty well with Macs.

How can i stay logged in on iPhone Skype after i delete the app from the 'current' apps?
    Thanks for ur answers !

You are correct. There is no other way to recover this material, and yes it would have been a good idea to backup the iPhone prior to the restore. Remember that a restore to a previous date deletes everything on the device and puts it back to the state of things on the date you choose. The texts and contacts would be gone. Did you possibly sync the contacts with a supported application on the computer? That is the only other way to recover contacts. They are designed to be synced with a supported application on the computer, or with a cloud service such as iCloud, Google or Yahoo.
