Deleted iCal events still showing- does iCal 3 help?

I have an iCal in Tiger (iCal 2.0.3) that I publish to co-workers. They subscribe in iCal and it mostly works fine (published through mobile me). Sometimes when I delete and item that is part of a recurring event, it continues to show in the published (subscribed) versions. The only way to fix it, is for my co-workers to delete and re-subscribe to the calendar.
Recently I also began publishing the calendar as a Google Calendar (subscribe to it in Google Calendar and then publish to the world) for some of my co-workers that prefer Google Calendars. Same problem only worse. Deleted events (some not all) continue to show up in the Google Calendar version that are no longer in teh iCal version, even after re-subscribing.
Someone (Ben Kazez of iCal widget fame) suggested that this is a problem with the way iCal 2.0.3 stores events in the calendar and that iCal 3(leopard) fixes this. (he had this problem with his widget).
Can anyone confirm that iCal 3 fixes the problem of deleted events showing in published calendars? I want to be sure this will fix my problem before I go through the hassle of the upgrade.

I'm getting the same thing. Events that have been deleted from iCal on my G5 are still sent to my iPhone. I've reset the iPhone software, restarted, logged out and in, deleted the iSync history etc - no luck.
Also, events created on my iPhone don't transfer to iCal on my G5.
Obviously this renders the iPhone/iCal combination unreliable as a diary/calendar. What makes this particularly frustrating is that I'm using absolutely standard gear and software. Nothing fancy, no trying to sync to third party equipment or applications. I'm using Leopard 10.5.2, with Apples very own iCal 3.0.2 (1236) and an Apple iPhone with software version 1.1.4 (4A102). So all software up-to-date.
Does anyone have this standard up-to-date setup working?

  • Deleted Recurring Events still show on iPhone

I've had this issue for a while now, and hoped the 2.0 release would fix it. Seems to not have.
The issue is that if I delete a single instance of a re-occurring event in iCal, it still syncs to the iPhone. So a weekly meeting that gets cancelled still shows up, or when I delete all reoccuring items while on holiday, they still show up on the iPhone. If I delete them manually via the iPhone they stay off and don't sync back on.
I've done restores, erased all the .Mac and MobileMe sync data (several times), and it still happens. This makes me believe it's a bug and not a corrupted calendar file or something.
This is part of a more complicated set-up too for a married couple who run a medical business. I have two Mac laptops and two Mac desktops all synced to the same MobileMe account (for calendars and contacts). The two laptops also each have an iphone connected to them. The idea is they all share the same calendars and contact information (which is very complicated as they live part time in Canada, part time in US).
It's becoming a real nuisance. I can solve it by having them not use re-occurring events, but that's not a real fix as these type of events are necessary.
I've searched the web and these forums and can't find nothing related. I Can't imagine I'm on my own on this one. Thanks for the help.

Does the title of the event become prefixed with "Cancelled:" ?

  • Deleted recurring events still show up on iPad/iPhone/Macbook Calendars

Trying to view several calendars for the purpose of project management.  Here is the problem step by step:
    1) If I am UserA and have  my calendar set up as Exchange or CalDav with FULL rights, I can add, delete or edit all events as needed.  I can add recurring events and DELETE one or more occurrences of the recurring event and have THAT show up correctly on my iPad.
    2) If UserB sets up his calendar and gives me read access, I can SUBSCRIBE to his calendar using normal "other / caldav" subscription settings and view it properly.  No problem.
    3) If UserB sets up a recurring event (lunch meeting at noon every Monday), that shows up properly on my iPad.  No problem.
    4) If UserB is going to be out of town or decides to cancel his lunch meeting for some other reason, he can on his own machine (Outlook, Mac Calendar, iPad with Exchange full account) delete that event.  No problem for HIM.
    5) On MY iPad, the subscribe calendar never shows anything different.  The same recurring events continue to display even if UserB has delete one OCCURRENCE of the event.  This IS a problem.  My view of his calendar is now incorrect.  Yeah, yeah, one meeting one day is not a problem.  But multiply that by several users, multiple deletions of recurring events, and suddenly the whole shooting match is out of whack.
    6) I can refresh the calendar to my heart's content, but nothing changes.
    7) Here's the kicker:  I can DELETE the subscribed calendar and RESUBSCRIBE to it.  This forces a completely fresh download to my iPad.  Doesn't change a thing.  The same recurring events still override ANY deletions that the user made to individual instances of the events.
In looking at the raw ICS file which I can download via a web browser, an entry might look like this:

You can easily see that the EXDATE shows a deletion for 2013-02-25 as well as other dates.  Doesn't matter.  They STILL show up on the iPad and in the Mac OSX Calendar.
I consider this a bug.  I hope an Apple employee sees and responds to this.  I would welcome any thoughts, workarounds or suggestions that could help with this.
Yes, I can tell users to only put INDIVIDUAL events on their calendar.  But, let's face it.  It's easier to put a recurring event and delete one or two instead of putting 50 recurring events for the whole year.
And, of course, Outlook displays things properly as do similar CalDav clients.

Exact same issue here. Individual events deleted from a recurring appointment continue to show up in Calendar (OS X 10.8.2).  Same events do not show up on calendar if viewed via outlook from my desk PC or view outlook web app from anywhere.
    Clearly a bug.

  • Why does the messaging app take so much space (5.6??) Also when I try to delete messages, it still shows 5.6. help me!

    Hi,
I have barely any space left on my phone. ios7 messaging app takes so much space. How can I stop this?

Your phone needs more storage, buying storage on iCloud.com doesn't change that.
Delete some of the stuff off of your phone, it's full.

  • Some iCal Subscription Calendars disappeared in iCal, but events still show up?

    Hi there,
Here's my situation as simply as possible. I'm on Lion 10.7.4. Some iCal Subscription Calendars disappeared on my iMac iCal, but the events still show up.
    1. On iCal on my iMac:
         - I have 10 subscription calendars, but now only 6 show up.  --> (Herein lies the issue)
         - Events from the 4 missing calendars still show up.
    2. iPhone:
         - has all 10 subscription calendars
         - has all events showing up
    3. iPad:
        - has all 10 subscription calendars
         - has all events showing up
Does anyone know of an official workaround for this issue? What is the best approach to handling this issue?
    thanks!

my sister downloaded an album she bought on itunes on her ipad and it somehow synced to my iphone when I try to delete it it still shows up in my music library with the icloud symbol how do I delete the album???

As long as you both share an iTunes account you cannot delete the album.  It is in your account and will show as available to download.  The cloud symbol simply is showing that the album is in your iTunes account and is available for you to download.  The album itself isn't on your phone though.

  • Ical events all showing at same time

Hi guys, I am at the end of my tether.
I have a couple of google calendars that then feed into ical.
They were both set up with the calibration program from google.
Which then feeds in with my iphone.
I can add and edit events on all three, however every event shows in ical as 10:27 am.
Every event does this, I've played around with time zone setting etc
It's driving me mad and I think stopping events syncing between the three properly.
    any ideas?
    thanks in advance

    km83,
Welcome to the forums! Have you tried using the calibration program from Google to remove then re-add your calender to iCal? I know it sounds silly but what it will do is reset Google calender on your mac.
Also sorry this sounds lame but when you added it to your iphone, which method did you use?
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • ICal events not showing in calendar

I have an issue syncing iCal with my iPhone. I do believe it is an iCal problem though.
Some events in iCal don't get synced to the iPhone and one event that does not show up in iCal shows up on the iPhone after sync.
Does anybody have any suggestions for troubleshooting iCal? Maybe repairing the iCal database? Tracing down problem events/calendars?
    Thanks

Instead of syncing ALL calendars, I selected a few and then synced. After syncing, I selected "Sync ALL" and all my calendars were sent to iPhone successfully. Hope this helps.

  • Events not showing in iCal, but do on my iTouch Calendar

I am syncing my iCal 3.0.7 with GoogleCalendar using Calgoo connect 2.1.3. It uploads new events to my gCal, but if I create new events in gCal, they won't show up on iCal. I thought this was a Calgoo problem, but when I sync my iTouch with my computer, the invisible events will become visible on the iTouch, but still invisible on iCal.
Any ideas? Is there a setting on iCal to make certain events within a calendar invisible that I'm missing? All the "hide to do" options in iCal preferences are unchecked.

I found this solution in another discussion. It's from this website: http://iphonewriter.blogspot.co.nz/2008/05/how-to-fixing-ical-iphone-sync-issues .html)
"You'll know the syncing issue when you see it, because the new events you enter into the Calendar on your Apple iPhone will not appear in iCal. Said another way, you'll enter a new event into your iPhone, use iTunes to sync with your Mac (or MacBook in our case) and the new event on your iPhone will not show up in iCal. Keep trying, synch as you might, iCal and the Apple iPhone just won't get along.
Here's the down and dirty fix:
Open iCal and backup or export your entries. Make a note of the fie name and location, you're going to need them in a minute. Once your backup/export is completed, close the iCal application.
Open Finder and remove everything inside the "Username/Library/Calendars" folder. For instance, if your username is "Joe", then move everything inside the "Joe/Library/Calendars" folder.
Open the iSync application. It's located in the "/Applications/" folder. Once iSync is opened, go into the iSync Preferences (iSync -> Preferences) and push/click the "Reset Sync History" button. Then, close the iSync application.
Re-Open the iCal application and Restore your calendar. When prompted, use your notes from Step #1 to select the file your created earlier.
At this point all my appointments were showing up properly in iCal, and did not disappear after syncing again with the iPhone.

  • Why are Facebook Events not showing in iCal?

    Hi,
I subscribed to my Facebook Events calendar in iCal an it was working fine. All of a sudden the events stopped showing in the calendar. The same happened on my iPhone.
I check and the link is still the same. Anyone else having this problem/ found a fix?

I'm having the same problem. I unsubscribed, then subscribed again hoping it would fix the problem, but still not seeing any events.

  • Deleted resource cal still showing in search list

    hey all
So I had a resource called boardroom, i then deleted it, i created another one called BoardRoom. now when i go to my ical account, create an event, and search for a location. both instances show. does anyone know how to remove this, seems like its storing in cache somewhere?
    Thanks
    alan

    Hi,
That does sound like a client cache issue. To confirm that, you could try loading your account and creating a meeting from a separate client machine, or make a throw-away user account on your existing client system.
If you still see two board rooms when trying the above, that means that both actually exist; so maybe the delete failed somehow. There should be logs about this in /var/log/caldavd.

  • Songs Deleted in Match Still Show Up on My iPhone 5

OOOkay: Earlier today, I deleted a couple of tunes from iTunes (and checked the "delete from iCloud" box as well).  What I did not realize was at that moment I was not connected to the internet.  The songs went away in iTunes, but they still show up on my iPhone 5 and my iPad 3, even after I reconnected to the 'net and ran iTunes Match again ... and I cannot find a way to get rid of them.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!  Rob.

Interesting. I believe the best solution to see what is going on is to create a new, empty iTunes library by holding down the Shift key while launching iTunes. Do not have iTunes scan for media. Then enable iTunes Match, let it do it's thing, then see if the tracks you've deleted show up. If they do, then you should be able to delete them from this library, then switch back to the main library.
If they do not show up, switch back to the main library, re-add the tracks you deleted by restoring them from the backup and let iTunes Match process them. Once it does so you should be able to delete them again and have them gone from the cloud.
