Deleted iTunes store files?

Hi,
I own an iPod touch gen 5 (iOS 7.0.3) and am running iTunes on my laptop (not a mac) 11.1.1.11.
I had previously bought a music album from iTunes and listed to it on a regular basis and today, somehow all the files from that album bar 1 have been completely deleted from my harddrive, iPod and therefore iTunes library too. The weird thing is that it still says that I have purchased the album through iTunes store but it won't let me download it again.
Is there any way I can access these files again or is it a lost cause?
Thanks

  • The File "(file name)" is an iTunes Store File and can't be burned to MP3cd

I am using the most recent updates to OS 10.4.8 and iTunes 7. I am getting this error stating that iTunes Store Files, which are also protected AAC files, can neither be burned to MP3 CD or converted into MP3 files. I also tried using Roxio Toast, most recent version, which converts the files to QuickTime AIFF files, which will not even play in QuickTime. I did not have this problem with older versions of iTunes. It is only songs purchased from iTunes Store that have this problem.
    Any suggestions?

Which version of Toast 6 are you using? Roxio made the change with the 6.1 update to "fix" Toast to no longer burn purchased iTMS content.
    http://www.roxio.com/enu/support/toast/version_history6.html
"Following discussions with Apple, this version will no longer allow customers to create audio CDs, audio DVDs, or export audio to their hard drive using purchased iTunes music store content."
If your CD version is previous to 6.1 and you updated it after the fact, you could try deleting it and reinstalling it and this time NOT updating it and see if you can now burn the iTMS songs.

  • Backup issues. Trying to delete iTunes preference files, but Apple Computer folder is missing (should be in the roaming folder)

Want to backup before a restore, but I have no backup option available in iTunes. I'm pretty sure I found the answer as this has solved the problem for others in other forums:
    Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be unusable and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
BUT after getting into both my roaming and local folder I find I do not even have an 'apple computer' folder. I have iTunes installed on my computer and have used it so I am confused. I use Windows 7.
I would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks!

Nevermind. I found the files. It didn't work anyway as the files kept repopulating themselves after I deleted them and reopened iTunes.

  • XCode update deleted iTunes Library files

I just updated XCode, and this meant updating the part about mobile applications, and my itunes library file was deleted in the process. Is there any way to retrieve my playlists/ratings? Last backup was a while ago, guess I've lost about 1000 ratings.
    Anyone else had this happen?
I'm a DJ, so this is a bit devastating, not convinced the backup will restore things but will attempt it if there's no other way to retrieve the original XML/ITL files...
    cheers

Thankyou! I just tried however it won't let me create a new one on the external? Perhaps I have utterly stuffed up when removing the old ones. Is there a way around this? Thanks

  • How can I delete iTunes U files which wont delete

I downloaded iTunes U app and downloaded some content, but before the downloads were complete, it crashed and does not work - possibly due to slow internet speeds rather than early iOS 5 issues. The files I downloaded are still in the iTunes U section of the Music app as well as the Videos app. When I tap them, it says 'unable to play movie' ... because its not a complete file probably. I tried swipping to delete them, which didnt work. When I plug my phone into iTunes the files dont show up. I reset the phone, still didnt work. Any ideas as to how I can delete these files?

    1. Go to App folder, doubleclick iTunes / Get info
    2. Unlock Sharing & Permissions section and change Everyone state to Read & Write
    3. Archive iTunes to zip and delete the just the iTunes.app itself (without touching additional files (if you use Appcleaner for example))
Use this algorhytm with any native locked app.
    Enjoy!

  • How to delete ITunes U files from Ipod?

Hello I have the 5.5 gen video ipod.
I can find itunes U files on this ipod by navigating to genre>itunes u.
Problem is I can't see these files anywhere within Itunes to then delete them from the ipod after I have listened.
Does anyone have a solution to this?
    Thanks!

All you need to do is the following:
    1. Select iTunes U tab from your ipod in itunes
    2. Check the box next to "Sync iTunes U" at the top
    3. Make sure the box next to "Automatically include" is UNCHECKED
    4. Select any course; check every box in the right menu.
    5. Click "Apply" at the bottom right of screen.
***If you notice the percent of your videos may increase (at the bottom of the screen that shows the percentage of your music and videos, etc.), don't worry because after it is done syncing it will fix itself.
    6. Look at your ipod menu on the left toolbar...iTunes U should show up. At this point you can sync all courses and they will appear in this menu.
    7. NOW you can delete them.
For some reason it doesn't work to sync automatically, so if you have a lot of courses, then it ***** for a bit, but at least you don't need to erase your entire ipod.

  • Replacing deleted iTunes *.pkg files

Unable to run "Mac OS X 10.3: Repair Disk Permissions", I performed a WorkAround fix (see below) which instructed me to remove from the "/Library/Receipts" folder the files:
    "iTunes.pkg"
    "iTunes4.pkg"
As suggested in the Workaround instructions, I put these files on my desktop. The "Repair Disk Permissions" function performed appropriately. Unfortunately, all of the "Desktop" items were moved to the "Trash" which was subsequently emptied before I had the opportunity to relocate "iTunes.pkg" & "iTunes4.pkg" back to "/Library/Receipts" folder".
How should I replace the deleted files. Can I simply perform an update or will doing so, because of the missing files, further agravate iTunes' functionality-loss?
    Thanks for input, Marianne
    FROM KNOWLEDGE BASE:
"Mac OS X 10.3: Repair Disk Permissions "Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool..." alert
"Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool..." alert
After installing iTunes 6.0.2 or later in Mac OS X 10.3 through 10.3.9, Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions may not finish, and the following alert appears in the Disk Utility window:
"Disk Utility has lost its connection with the Disk Management Tool and cannot continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
(Quitting and reopening Disk Utility does not help.)
The following also appears in Console log:
    * malloc[419]: Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0x290a410; This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see tools to help debug : for architecture i386 object: ./Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes malformed object (unknown flavor for flavor number 0 in LC_UNIXTHREAD command 27 can't byte swap it)
    WORKAROUND
    Quit Disk Utility.
From the Finder's Go menu, choose Go to Folder....
Type the following, then click OK: /Library/Receipts
Temporarily remove these iTunes receipts from /Library/Receipts (sort the folder alphabetically as a list):
    iTunes.pkg
    iTunes4.pkg
You can put them on the desktop, for example. Do not remove iTunesX.pkg or iTunes Phone Driver.pkg.
Open Disk Utility and repair disk permissions again.
    Quit Disk Utility.
Put the removed iTunes receipts back in /Library/Receipts.
Note: This issue does not affect Disk Utility's verify or repair disk features".
    iBook (G3)   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

The .pkg files are not required for iTunes to function.
Disk Utility and Software Update use these receipt files to determine correct permissions and to see which software is installed.
As far as I know, the latest iTunes installer does not interfere with Disk Utility.
If you want, install the latest iTunes to get the .pkg back, but there is no need to do so.
    Hope this helps.

  • AppleScript to Delete iTunes Tracks & Files but Retain in Cloud

Hi, first of all, thanks ahead of time to anyone kind enough to help me out here.
I've created a playlist with iTunes tracks that are under 256 kbps and were matched on iTunes Match.
I need an applescript that deletes those tracks from my iTunes and moves the files into the trash, and then initiates Download (from the matched files on the cloud) on those tracks.
Thank you very much. Appreciate it.

But you are saying that Show in Finder takes you to the expected file in the expected location?
I should have asked you before, but what version of OS X and what version of iTunes are you using?
I am also confused by what you're saying about deleting a track in the iTunes library (with or without OPTION held as it should not make a difference here): when you delete a track that has a local file, you should get a warning asking "Are you sure you want to delete this copy of ..."  This dialog also has the option to check to delete from iCloud as well.  If you agree, the file will be deleted but the track will remain with the icon to allow you to download from iCloud.  When you delete a track that is only in iCloud (i.e. has no local file) you should get a warning "Are you sure you want to delete this .... from iCloud", then the track will be deleted from your library and from iCloud forever.
Did you get any warning dialogs?

  • ITunes Store files don't work with Realplayer or Windows Media Player

I tried posting a question but it did not allow me so I am going to try posting it here. I need some help but not sure where to go to post the questions or what e-mail address I can use to e-mail the appropiate place to get help so if you can help me out that would be great.
Problem 1. I won a ITunes gift card recently and set up a account and downloaded some music. Now the I just learned the file type cannot be played through Realplayer or Windows Media Player that are on my desktop nor can the tracks be put on to my MP3 player. I have deauthorized my computer and still no luck. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do so I can do what I mentioned above? If so what?
Problem 2 - If there is no way to covert the music who do I get contact and how to go about getting a refund for the tracks purchased.
Problem 3 - Sorta linked with #2 Once I get my refund applied to my account is there away for me to cancel my account and or transfer it to a person that does have a IPOD or is able to play Itumes files on their desktop?
    Thanxs in advance.

  • Where does iTunes store files created by their OneStep DVD process?

I can't seem to find them anywhere.

I'll assume you mean iDvd as opposed to iTunes (otherwise this question makes no sense).
This is simply an educated guess-I suspect most if not all of the files used in a one step Dvd process are for the most part temporary files.
However, once the dvd is burned to dvd-r and your mac or the app is restarted, it clears your macs memory of these short term files and the HD space is once again made available for yet another iDvd project; that is once the computer is fully restarted.
