Deleted Mail "On My Mac" still showing up

I use Tiger, with Mail 2.0.5 (746/746.2).
I have spam auto-filtered into a "Spam" mailbox/folder on my Mac so that it doesn't go to the trouble of synchronizing with my IMAP server. (I started using SpamSieve for this because I get so much spam.)
I have a little cron job that periodically deletes messages from this folder.
The problem is, the messages still show up in Mail, when I click on the Spam folder. When I click on one of the deleted messages, it says the message "has not been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in order to download it."
But the message isn't on a server - it's on my Mac - and it no longer exists.
Any way to clue Mail in to the fact that these messages have been deleted?
I do this with Mail on an IMAP server and it works great.
Thanks,
Dave

You're welcome.
Since the mailbox is new and less than a week old, this may be caused by using a script outside of Mail to delete messages from this mailbox since I haven't experienced the same with any of my mailboxes under Tiger Mail.
It is a good idea to use the Rebuild Mailbox function on the most active mailboxes on a regular basis but I do so on a monthly or every couple of weeks basis depending on activity.

How do I change the address that my iphone sends when i send mail.  I have deleted the account but it still shows up as the account that will be replyed to if people hit reply.

Hey There I didn't need to change it as it shows my correct name in my icloud account. The problem is on my Mac where it still shows my Full name as my partners name.
For eg. if I send an email from "Mail" on mac and I use my icloud account then the name that shows up is my partners name when the email is received. If I send an email from the Icloud Mail box that I log into on my browser then the name that shows up when the email is received is my name which is correct.
When I go into preferences in "Mail" on my Mac to change my name, the name is ghosted out and doesn't allow me to change it ! ? It is here that it still show my partners name ?

No don't restore your iphone. I've done that several times & it has never worked. -I still have deleted contacts in my iphone texts.  *However if you do restore it you will not lose all your data, pics, text messages etc if you backup in iCloud. It restores back to original phone. Very nice :). Anyhowwww....
I JUST  figured it out!! :))). Remove the contact from recents.
Start a text. You should see the deleted contact. All the way to the right of the name is a symbol. The symbol is a circle with "i" in the middle. Click that symbol then in red lettering click "remove from recents".

How can I set up my email so when I delete mail from my Mac it deletes from my iPhone as well?

That is a function of your email account, if it is an Imap account it will sync, if it's a POP account, it won't.

If you are using iCloud, quit the Mail app if it's open.
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect Mail then re select it.
Relaunch the Mail app and try deleting mail.
If you aren't using iCloud. with the Mail app open, from the menu bar click Mailbox > Rebuild
    Then try deleting mail.

  • Deleted user account, but account still shows up in Login Window

I deleted the user from the system preferences but it is still showing up in the login window. I restarted and rebooted. I even reset the admin password manually with rm/ var/db/.AppleSetupDone.
    What do I do?
User V.K. helped a previous post but I am not sure if those instructions are specific to what the needs were of the person. I need an explanation for TERMINAL COMMAND.
    Thanks!

Might be a corrupted preference file...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following;
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginitems.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.loginitems.plist file to the Trash.
    Reatart your Mac.
If that didn't help, move the com.apple.loginwindow.plist file from the Preferences folder as well, then restart.

  • HT4915 When i did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs.  I have gone into my library and deleted the duplicates, but they still show up on my iphone as duplicates.  What can i do to get rid of them?

When I did my itunes match, there were some duplicated albums and songs in my library.  I have gone back into my library from my computer, and deleted the duplicates.  When I did so, itunes did not ask me if I wanted to delete them from the cloud.  They are still showing up on my iphone as duplicates in the cloud.  What can I do to get them from showing up in my iphone?

They are not on the iphone in the first place.  It is just a setting that allows you to see the songs that are available in icloud, but not on your iphone.  If you turn the setting to off, then you no longer see the songs that are in icloud, but NOT on your iphone.

  • There are songs on my icloud that I deleted from my itunes, but still show up on icloud. I want to delete them from icloud, but can't since they don't appear in my itunes!

I have a large library on icloud- 26203 songs is the count when I'm playing over my apple TV, but my itunes only shows 25989 songs. There are songs on icloud that no longer are in my itunes library, or show up in itunes as being on icloud. I want to delete these songs but can't figure out how. I have reset my itunes match on both my computer and my apple tv to no avail.

No. It's on and I update it daily.
When I talk about removing songs from my shuffle play, I'm referring to listening over apple TV. My cloud limit is nearly maxed out, so I am constantly removing/adding songs. That's why I was surprised when I went to delete a song I no longer wanted in the mix and was surprised to find it already deleted from my itunes, but still present in the cloud. I've signed in and out of itunes/and match on apple tv as well, but that didn't remove the tunes in question!

  • TS4002 why doesn't deleted mail on my MacBook Air show as deleted on my iPad and iPhone

I thought that when I deleted mail on my MacBook Air, it would be deleted automatically on my iPad and iPhone. However; this does not happen, and is annoying having to delete from each individual device. How can I rectify this problem please?

10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) does not support iCloud, are you actually on that or have you upgraded?
Are you using a .me or .mac address, if not what are you using?

  • Help how do i retrieve files hidden due to deletion of user? memory still shows they are they're on HD?

    Hi,
It all started when I changed the name of the user and wanted to change the user/folder to have the same name. I manged to do this following a site tutuorial which required you to make a secon user, when I deleted this user I must of clicked the wrong setting as my dock changed, most programs/apps are still here but it now displays no files in documents etc? The hard drive shows the memory is still being used so the files must be hidden to me now?
Only one Apple ID has ever been used.
    Thanks

    Hello TomGreat86,
I would recommend this article named Mac OS X: How to recover a home folder (directory) found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2258
Recovering a deleted user account or user's files from the same computer
If you just want to recover certain files from a deleted user, skip to step 5. If you want to resurrect everything from a deleted user account, choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    Click Accounts.
Create a new administrator account (select the "Allow user to administer this computer" checkbox). You can use the same short name as the former user's account if you wish—this account will essentially replace the former one.
Note: If you don't want this account to have long-term administrator access, deselect the "Allow user to administer this computer" checkbox after completing the rest of these steps.
Log out of your account, then log in as the new user account.
Go to /Users/Deleted Users, then double-click the deleted_user.dmg file (where deleted_user is the name of the deleted account) to mount the disk image on the desktop.
Note: If the Home folder was protected by FileVault, you'll need to enter the former user account's password to proceed. In general, make it a point to turn off FileVault before deleting a user to avoid this situation.
If you only want certain items, drag those files onto your desktop to copy them. If you want to resurrect the deleted account, copy everything from the disk image to the same locations in your (new user's) Home folder.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • Deleted emails from pc/outlook still showing up on handheld

    Hello,
I am a new Blackberry user and am having a few issues with my email setup.
I use Comcast email (pop3) and windows live mail as my email addresses.
When I delete an email from my PC or Outlook, it does not update the handheld.
I have had the phone for a week or so now and still have all my old deleted emails on it.
    My settings are:
    Delete On: Mailbox and Handheld
    Wireless Reconcile is checked
    On Conflicts: Mailbox wins.
Both email accounts are having the same issue.
I receive lots of email daily and dont want to have to re-read /re-delete previously deleted emails from my handheld.
Is there a setting I am missing here?
    Thanks

I did find some info, but can you give comcast a call to verify what settings you need?
    I did find these links:

    http://forums.comcast.com/t5/E-Mail-and-Xfinity-Connect-Help/Configuring-Blackberry-for-Comcast-emai...
I'm not sure how you setup your email, but I know comcast customer care can assist.  I am thinking you need to setup your email over the air with comcast and outlook should pick up the changes between your blackberry and comcast email server each time you open outlook.  sorry if this is confusing, but give comcast a call.
WhenI want to setup an email account, from the device I head to blackberry.com/integrate and follow the prompts.

  • Recently when I try to delete mail on my mac-mini I get the following message: The message "..." could not be moved to the mailbox "Trash - On My Mac" How can I delete mail?

My problem: When I try to delete an  email message I get the message - "The message “...” could not be moved to the mailbox “Trash — On My Mac.”
It appear that when I try to delete an email on my mac-mini a copy of the message goes to trash and I can delete it, but the original message stays in my regular list of emails. How do I get my Mail program to return to its normal delete function?

Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox. Try again to delete the message.

  • "Mail" cannot delete mails on my mac

This is about the application "Mail".
Besides the mailboxes, mail will also list "ON MY MAC" at side bar. Inside each mail account, there will be "All Mail", "Drafts", ... associated with this mail account. The question is that I cannot delete emails in "All Mail". I deleted some emails, then after about 10 minutes, you can see those emails are brought back to "All Mail". I have no idea what have causing those. All I want to do is to delete some ad, some spam emails in my GMAIL account, but those deleted emails (in ON MY MAC -> mail account -> "All Mail") are back agin, agin, and again. This is so annoying! Does anyone know how to deail with this?

Try turning the account off and on : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , then tap the account on the right, slide Mail to 'off', exit settings and go back into the Mail app, and then go back to Settings and slide Mail back to 'on'
If that doesn't work then try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
