Deleted messages won't delete

I keep deleting them and they keep coming back. Also freezes up a lot when I'm deleting. Checking now to see if sending them to trash works better but that's a pain.

trash didn't work either;looked like they were going out of the inbox but there they were. haven't updated the software yet. perhaps that will help?

  • IPhone messages won't delete, can't free enough space?

    Hello,
I'm on an iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.1. I'm almost out of storage... I have 8.96 GB of "Documents & Data" and 8.51 GB of "Other."
Usage in settings indicates that I have 8.8 GB of messages saved. So I have to delete my messages. However, even after I restart, all my messages reappear and I have not freed any space. How come the messages keep reappearing when I try to delete them? Is there a way for me to delete them permanently?
And, what is this "other" category that is taking up so much space? I know that other used to be app data, but now with iOS 7 that has been split up into "Documents & Data."
So, how come my messages won't delete? Is there a way for me to permanently delete them to free space?
And how can I clear up space from my "Other" category?
Thanks so much for the help!

There is corrupted data on the phone.  You need to restore the phone using iTunes, without restoring a backup.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • Messages won't delete from inbox

Just upgraded to iOS7 on both iphone 4s and ipad2. In mail, on both devices (which are linked) deleted messages won't erase from the inbox - even though they have been permanently deleted from the mail editor on my computer. When I swipe left and hit trash, the message goes away for one second then reappears. I've tried re-booting the phone, didn't work. I definitely have the right passwords associated with the mail account in place. And haven't made any other changes to the mail settings since upgrading the operating system. I noticed that no one else has posted this problem using iOS7 yet, but have seen some threads using earlier formats - none of which were helpful in fixing my problem   thoughts? suggestions?

rebuild your inbox using mailbox menu->rebuild.

  • Messages won't show on lock screen or app icon

My messages won't show on my lock screen and my messages app icon. Also it will say 'sending 1 of 10' or something like that when actually the messages send and delivered but it won't say that. Also sometimes when I go to open an app it won't open it at all. Just today on my messages that are open it got rid of everybody's name and it just shows the number. Also it's constantly saying I have no storage left! When actually I've deleted loads of apps since its been saying this yet the amount of storage I have is the same...which is none left. Ugh I'm so frustrated with it please someone help me

I have seen an answer on a different page but the page that is recommended that you should go to has been removed from the website! Is there a reason for this?

  • I have a brand new iPad newest version. Wifi. The messaging won't send out but I receive messages from others. What is wrong?

I have the newest version of the iPad (3rd generation) with wifi. The messaging won't send out but I'm receiving messages from others when I'm using it. They also come through on my iphone at the same time. But I can't send them out on the iPad. I tried someone's suggestion of changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and that did not work to fix it. What is wrong with this thing?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Are you trying to send a message to a cell number or an email address?  iPad does MMS, not SMS, meaning it can't send a message to a number.  It can send a message to an email address........

  • J6480 Ink Cartridge Door Hinges Broke. Door Open error message won't let me print. What can I do?

Have always been very careful with cartridge & scanner doors.  Pressing OK doesn't remove error message.  Broken hinges will no longer go down, so Door Open message won't go away and preventing printing.

The problem is the spring tension used to hold the cover open is stronger than the poorly designed weak hinges.
The way I solved it was to break both the hinges, (pretty easy to do just open and close the cover a few times),  lift the cover up being carefull not to break the ribbon cable (wires) from the cover to the base. Then I pryed out the lower spring plates, these are located in the hinge assembly of the printer and removed the black plastic plunger and  the large springs below it from both hinges. The cover wil now stay closed and allow you to print. You just have to be careful when changing the print cartridges as the cover can open too far now and possibly break the wires going to the top cover.
    Happy Printing

I've received an error messagae that says my message can't be sent.  Unfortunately, the recipient list is so long I can't see the bottom of the error message to click "Try again" or another option.  The message won't scroll.  How can I get to the bottom of the message?

    Many Thanks, Kurt.
I knew I'd seen the solution you've provided somewhere - either in MacWorld or MacFormat - but couldn't remember the Gatekeeper bit!
I shall save it somewhere VERY safe now in case this happens again …
You have made an old man very happy and saved me from worrying that senile decay had suddenly set in. (I was 70 last week so you might understand the situation from that.)

  • Messages won't randomize incoming bubble colors

This is not an IMPORTANT question, but it's really obnoxious and I want a fix.
One thing I loved about Adium was the ability to set my incoming messages to random colors - every new chat came in a new color. It was fun!
But Messages won't do that. EVEN THOUGH I have my incoming messages color set to "random."
Now of a set of 5 friends -- they'll all be a different color. But no matter what I do, a new chat with any particular friend keeps a single color. My friend J always always ALWAYS has pink bubbles. W always always ALWAYS has blue bubbles. Is this just me? How do I make "random" truly randomize my incoming messages?
    edited for clarity

What application are you using to view and print your emails? (Mail, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Sparrow, Thunderbird, etc).
Your profile indicates you are running 10.6.4. Is that information still current? If not, I suggest installing all available software updates. There have been many OS and printer driver updates since 10.6.4.

  • Mountain Lion Messages won't connect / go online

For the last few days Mountain Lion Messages won't connect / go online. Prior to that it would disconnec at random and it would be difficult to make it connect again. But now it's totally refusing to go online.

I solved the problem, with the help of a friend!
Turns out, even though Messages in Mountain Lion won't prompt you about this in any way, there is a difference between your @mac.com email and your @me.com email.
Messages on Mountain Lion has an iChat built in, but is actually at the same time a new protocol which does not use AIM like iChat. So, it's both AIM iChat and something new.
As soon as I added a new account inside Messages on Mountain Lion with @me.com I could reconnect and all is fine.
Apple, this is a lot less obvious to the end user than you might think. You have switched online services a few time and it always gets better and better. But Messages in Mountain Lion should prompt the user to add the @me.com address if this is required to use the software!

  • My messages won't say the contact name only shows the phone number, how do you change this when the contact is in my phone under that number already?

My messages won't say the contact name only shows the phone number, how do you change this when the contact is in my phone under that number already?

I thought that at first, but I have text this person before and had received responses in a timely manner. Its just weird that it all of a sudden removed their name.
Would this affect the delivery of the text message?

Settings -> Messages -> do you have "Send as SMS" ON?
If not, then your messaging app will be restricted solely to Apple's iMessage service, which only works between iOS devices.

  • Messages won't launch on OS X Mountain Lion

When trying to launch Messages I get an "Internal Messages error:  There was a problem with Messages. You need to quit and open Messages again."  Messages won't launch ever since I restarted after the last Mountain Lion update to 10.8.2.  Any ideas how to fix this?

    Hi,
I would start with Repairing Permissions  (Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities)
Follow that with a PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.

  • NoCommonGroups set to 1 TOAST messages won't work

    Hi,
    We use
workspace manager software to manage shortscuts/printers/mappigs etc.
For this software NoCommonGroups set to 1 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc938264.aspx) because it replaces the default user shell.
With Server 2008R2 this is working fine but with Server 2012R2 with NoCommonGroups set to 1 TOAST messages won't work anymore... So users won't
receive notifications from e.g. Microsoft Outlook 2013.
Any ideas on how to get TOAST messages / notifications working with NoCommonGroups set to 1 ?

    Hi Kevin,
    >>We use workspace
manager software to manage shortscuts/printers/mappigs etc
Before going further, which Workspace Manager software are we using, RES Workspace Manager? If this involves third party software, in order to get better help, we may aslo contact vendor support
    to ask for advice.
In addition, I am not sure if this can be helpful but I tried searching around and found a similar topic published in RES library. If it's irrelevant with our situation, please just ignore
    it.

  • Messages won't accept my Apple ID

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.5) and Messages won't accept my Apple ID. Accepts all my other Chat clients, just not the main one I upgraded for (i want to be able to respond to my iPhone texts on my iMac).
The error message i get is:
Could not sign in to iMessage.
The server encountered an error processing
    registration. Please try again later.
There is probably an easy fix here...

    HI,
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3970
Also check the Serial Number is present.
Use the Apple Icon Menu and About this Mac.
In the new panel click twice on the line that states the current OS version.
It will change to the Build number (of the OS) and then to the Serial Number.
If the Logic board has been replaced in a refurbishment or repair the Serial Number is supposed to be "flashed" to the new board.
If it is missing it will mean a trip to an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider.
