Deleted my iTunes library. Now what?????
Just tried to update my iPad 2 to IOS 5 operating system, and now have no music or books in my iTunes account. How can I get my library back???

On the iPad tap Settings > Store
Make sure Music and Books are switched on under Automatic Downloads
Give it several minutes to update over your Wi-Fi connection.
If necessary, you can re download iTunes purchases for free.

Manually deleted duplicates, corrupted library, now what?
I'm new to Mac. I imported photos into iPhoto, played with iPhoto for a while, and decided for a variety of reasons - including the fact that I ended up with a TON of duplicates - to install Picasa and use Picasa to manage my photos.
I used Picasa to identify, and then manually delete photos. I identified folders that contained duplicates and deleted them. They're still in the trash.
Then, I realized that I was better off sticking to iPhoto. So - in the Photo display, all of the photos are still there, but attempting to zoom into them reveals a black screen with a "!"
So, how do I get out of this mess? It seems that I can rebuild the library, but what should I do about the folders that I dragged into the trash?
I'm trying to figure out how to get myself out of this mess...To delete an Event, delete or move all the pics within it. You can merge Events simply by dragging one to another.
FWIW here’s a canned answer I use when folks are thinking about organising their photos. Maybe something will strike an idea for you.
I use Events simply as big buckets of Photos: Spring 08, July - Nov 06 are typical Events in my Library. I use keywords and Smart Albums exensively. I title the pics broadly.
I keyword on a
Who
What
Where basis (The When is in the photos's Exif metadata). I also rate the pics on a 1 - 5 star basis.
Using this system I can find pretty much find any pic in my 25k library in a couple of seconds.
So, for example, I have a batch of pics titled 'Seattle 08' and a typical keywording might include: John, Anne, Landscape, mountain, trees, snow. With a rating included it's so very easy to find the best pics we took at Mount Rainier.
File -> New Smart Album
set it to 'All"
title contains Seattle
keyword is mountain
keyword is snow
rating is 5 stars
Or, want a chronological album of John from birth to today?
New Smart Album
Keyword is John
Set the View options to Sort By Date Ascending
Want only the best pics?
add Rating is greater than 4 stars
The best thing about this system is that it's dynamic. If I add 50 more pics of John to the Library tomorrow, as I keyword and rate them they are added to the Smart Album.
Keywording takes time to set up, there's no doubt about it. I use Keyword Manager as it's much more powerful than the inbuilt system, and adds the possibility of nested keywords. So, for instance, if I add John to a photo it also adds 'Family'. Now I can add many keywords to a pic quickly.
In the end, organisation is about finding the pics. The point is to make locating that pic or batch of pics findable fast. This system works for me.

I deleted my itunes library (after backing up to my time machine) to download a large torrent, now i want to restore my itunes library to my MBA from time machine but its saying there is not enough room on my MBA even though the library is 22GB and there is 27GB free on my MBA??Here's something else to consider:
Since Snow Leopard, OS X uses a Decimal count for file size. iTunes however still uses a Binary count. What that means is: your iTunes library shows one size, while the folder shows another. Depending on the size of your library, this can be a pretty big difference.
Yours won't be that much, but it may be enough to prevent it from moving to the MBA from the TM. -
Lost itunes library..what to do now?
Ok I am very confused! I have an ipod mini, and have my itunes library on my computer. Well something is wrong w/ my computer. Now my question is. Can I login into itunes from another computer or something to still get music and stuff? Or do I have to wait until I get my computer working again and find my itunes on there.
Or if I can't get my old itunes library back, what should i do from here? I have ALL of my songs that were in my library on my IPOD, so I dont know what my best bet is. I do not want to loose my songs on my ipod because i paid for alot of them. Please help guide me!I am experiencing the same problem. My computer crashed and ALL of my songs (over 500!) were deleted and are irretrievable. They are still on my iPod and I know that there is some way to transfer the songs from your iPod to your computer by converting it to a hard disk but I have no idea how to go about doing that. I have 3 iOS devices synced with iTunes apps library (OS X 10.10.2)
Can someone tell me how to make not only added but deleted apps be synced also? I mean I want an app deleted in iTunes library be deleted from any iOS devices synced with this library.But it was working some time before! What and when has changed?
There was even a warning popup window something about "this application will be deleted from all the devices synced with this library"
Now there's opposite message - "This application will not be deleted from any device syncing with this account". Isn't it some kind of clue that there can be conrarily circumstances - when application IS deleted from ANY device synced with this computer? -
Like the question says, I have about 6 or 7 songs that I want to permanently delete from my iTunes library and iPhone. They keep showing up even after I've unchecked/deleted them. I've used the manual option and selected the artists, genres, etc. that I still want, but the deleted songs keep appearing. I bought these songs off of the iTunes store I didn't use my iPhone. I don't have the iTunes Match option turned on my phone, nor do I use iCloud. I don't know what else to do besides manually selecting all of my songs and putting them into a folder, deleting the blasphemous songs that I don't want anymore, deleting my iTunes library and resetting my iPhone and copying the songs from the folder back into my iTunes library. But has anyone else had this happen to them? I've had an iPod for years now and I've never had this issue before. I'd really like an easier solution here, so does anyone have any ideas?
The solution is Simple.
- Goto preferences
- From there select the 'Devices' tab
- Now make click the check box close to 'Prevent iPods,iPhones..... from syncing automatically.
Click OK and your problem will be solved. -

How do i delete the itunes library fully. I want to delete the itunes library and rebuild it.
All my media is on a NAS and no matter what settings i use, Itunes wants to create a sub directroy in the main one i specifiy for media. this sub directory is called music and it then seems to randomly split music information up with not seeming method. I have removed the xml file, however, when i start itunes over it goes and does the exact same thing over. My only guess is i am missing a hidden file.Hi,

I have just over 100gig of music in my iTunes library plus what ever else I add in the future. Because of the amount I had to save my music library on an external drive as my laptop did not have the memory to hold it all. I want to back up my iTunes library and save it on a different external drive, one I store all my back ups on. Is this possible? If so how can I do it?
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them. -
I'm an ex-Mac user now on Windows 7: How to acccess my former Mac iTunes library (now on my PC) with my Windows iTunes? I get error message: The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.

RoySo, what I have done so far to try to achieve this is:
I have my Windows PC with it's NTFS formatted external HDD containing the music etc.
I have my Mac with a new external HDD formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
On the Windows PC:
* I opened up iTunes.
* Went into Preferences, and then under the Advanced tab I checked both 'Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised' and 'Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library', so that all the files would be in the main iTunes Media folder when I copy it over.
* Then File, Library, Organise Library and ticked the 'Consolidate Files' so that it moves any files that aren't in the right folder.
Next I copied the files over. So I copied the updated media folder from the NTFS (Windows) external HDD onto the Mac external HDD.
And I copied the files from in My Documents/Music/iTunes on the Windows PC to User/Music on the Mac.
But this doesn't seem to have done it. -

i recently deleted my itunes library by mistake. i thought i had only deleted what i wanted to delete by instead the whole library is gone. is there a way to recover it or is it gone for good? i've been trying to re download the previously purchased from itunes music by it keeps taking me to the new itunes download page which i can not download because i'm using osx 10.4.11. as long as i can get the music i had gotten from itunes, i'll be ok. other music i had on there was downloaded from cds i had. thanks for the help.

I want to send my itunes library from my old macbook (start up disk nearly full) to my new iMac. Then delete my itunes library from my old macbook. Is Homesharing my best choice for this?

After confirming that all your stuff is on the drive, delete the photos you have copied. You will need to empty the iPhototrash to free up the space. -
Windows C drive check deleted my iTunes library file!
My laptop (HP HDX 16 running Vista) was having trouble resuming from sleep mode and I had to do a forced shut down. Upon booting up, it started to check my C drive for errors, and for some reason, deleted my iTunes Library file (it literally said it was doing that). Now my iTunes is completely empty, and the last backed up library file is from months ago. Is there any way to get my iTunes back to the way it was earlier today?!

With ITunes in Windows Vista, I've attempted to drag and drop a homemade video folder from my Desktop to ITunes on the PC in order to transfer it to my IPad (as per instructions), but it doesn't show up in my ITunes library. What else should I be doing?
Do you have any videos/movies in the video app?
In iTunes if you right click on the video and select Get Info and go to the Option tap what Media Type is shown?
