Deleted my photo booth recents.plist file

hey
so i was thinking i would try n import back my old photo booth pictures that managed escaped, back into the app. after reading the forums it seems i need a file 'recents.plist', but i dont have it?
some people have said it automatically comes back... mine, as it appears, has not?
what do i dooo? how do i get'em back in?
cheers
L o u i sss

There is a
com.apple.recentitems.plist
but nothing simply named "recents.plist" at least on my computer.
It would not have any files in it anyway, only the name and location.
If you look through "All Images" in the Finder Sidebar, you will see any and all images on your computer.
If you know the approximate date, you can narrow down the search.
They will most likely be named as such:
Photo 5.jpg, Photo 6.jpg
and so on.

  • Recents.plist file in my User/Pictures/Photo Booth folder?

When I use PhotoBooth, a preference file named Recents.plist forms inside my User/Pictures/Photo Booth folder along with the picture. Why is this happening and can it be stopped?

Hello and thanks again BDAqua for writing. Yes, if I delete this Photo Booth Recent.plist file it will come back in the same place in my User/Photo Booth folder after I take another picture in Photo Booth. After deleting the one that was created earlier this morning, a Spotlight search shows no other file named Recents.plist anywhere on my HD. Spotlight also shows no entries named Photo Booth except the application itself and the one in my User/Pictures folder. I have no Photo Booth folder you describe to hold this preference file in my User/Application Support folder at all. The last four weekly clones I've taken also have no Photo Booth folder in that Application Support folder.

  • I accidentally deleted my photo booth, how do i get it back?

I accidentally deleted my photo booth permanently. I can not find it any where on my Mac. It makes me so mad because i'm ALWAYS on photo booth. I would love for some feed back so i can get it back. Thank you.

Photo Booth can only be reinstalled with a #8 Reinstall Just OS X method, it's not part of the bundled application package installer found on the 10.6 machine specific disks.
Make sure you really have deleted it by exhausting all search possibilites, try using the free Easy Find here
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11076/easyfind
If it's really gone, then follow #8 step here, however doing so will disable third party programs that have any code installed into OS X itself via at boot kernel extension files. So these programs will have to be reinstalled from original sources and updated.
Step by Step to fix your Mac
    8: Reinstall Just OS X
Category: OS X and bundled Apple software related
Description: Replaces only OS X and bundled Apple software programs with a new copy. Small portions of third party software installed in OS X itself is removed in the process, but they can be reinstalled later. Programs in Applications folder or the User account folders are not touched.
    Problems solved or possibly solved:
"Gray Screen with spinning gear at boot" type issues... https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
"Blue or White screen at boot" type issues... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/8963.html
"You need to restart" kernel panic type issues:  https://support.apple.com/kb/TS3742
"Safe mode freezes on progress bar" type issues https://support.apple.com/kb/TS3148
Solved: OS X and/or bundled program(s) related issues not resolved by other means.
Solved: Outdated or unknown/older conflicting third party kernel extension files.
    Instructions:
    Option A:
10.6 users - clean and polish the bottom of the 10.6 disk (no other) with a soft clean cloth and a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol.
    • Insert the disk and Hold c or option key down and then boot the computer from the 10.6 installer disk.
    • Second screen, select your boot drive and simply install OS X again.
    • When you get into the machine, immediately Software Update (#10), reboot and repeat until clear. Important!
Force eject a stuck disk - hold the trackpad or left wired mouse button down while booting, the hardware should force eject the disk, or use Startup Manager #3 and select the disk and then use the eject key on the keyboard.
10.7+ users - hold command r or option key and boot from Lion Recovery HD partition (only, use no disks), it's a bootable section on the boot drive itself that's like install cd.
    • Have a good reliable fast Internet connection (+5 Mb/s) and install Lion from Apple's servers, you'll need your AppleID and password.
    • When you get into the machine, check the Software Update (#10) that there are no additional updates.
Reinstall any third party software that fails to work once the developer has a update that is compatible with the OS X version your using. (see Apple Menu > About this Mac for the OS X version)
Option B (advanced): If you can't reinstall some third party software at this time
Reboot holding Shift Key down while booting up, that will disable their at boot kernel extension files and then skip to #9 and then do #14-15 and attempt to find the problematic at boot third party kernel extension file responsible. However don't make a mistake removing a OS X one or the machine can refuse to boot.
You might not have any or have removed them all and still can't boot normally, if this is the case then the #8 procedure is your only choice as it's something wrong in OS X itself.
You might be able to temporarily remove the known third party at boot kernel extension files out of the System/Library/Extensions folder and replace after OS X is replaced in Option A above.

  • I deleted my photo booth by mistake how can i get it back

i deleted my photo booth app on my mac and wanted to know how can i get it back

Do you have a backup you can try to restore from? If not, you will need to reinstall the OS.
Do a backup. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors.  Then re-install the OS.

  • I deleted my photo booth how can i get it back?

i deleted my photo booth how can i get it back?

OK, here are some step by step instructions:
    1. Open a Finder window.
    2. In the Finder window on the left side you will see a folder that says Applications. Click the folder.
    3. Click the Time Machine icon in your Dock and wait for Time Machine to open.
    4. On the right side of TM  you will see a time line, click a date that you know the Application was still there and wait for TM to go to that date. You will see the date in the bottom center.
    5. While in the Applications folder scroll down until you find Photo Booth and then click Restore in the bottom right.
At that point Photo Booth should be restored and working. If it isn't then make an appointment at  your local Apple Store and take the machine in. They will help you restore the application. If you don't have an Apple Store in your area contact an AASP or call Apple Care for some help.

  • I deleted my photo booth on accident how do I get it back

I deleted my photo booth and cant find it online anywhere to reinstall and lost my software that came with my laptop can someone help please!!

Did you remove the actual application from the Applications folder or did you possibly just take it out of the Dock?
The latter is easy to fix. Open a Finder window and go to the Applications folder. In it, Find PhotoBooth. Drag the icon into your dock.
    Best of luck.

    Hi BDAqua,
I tried to install Pacifist, THEN the Choices are:
    -Open Package
    -Open URL
    -Open Apple Install Discs
    -Search Receipts
so i choose " OPEN APPLE INSTALL DISC"
THEN I inserted one of the DVD, the "APPLICATION INSTALL DVD"
THEN this what came up in the
    Package Contents
    > Contents of Install Bundled Software
    > Contents of InstallBundledSoftware.mpkg
    > Contents of CPUHelpFiles.mpkg
    > Contents of iWeb.pkg
    > Contents of GarageBand.mpkg

    > Contents of iMovie.pkg
    > Contents of AppleIntermediateCodec.pkg
    > Contents of iLifeCookie.pkg
    > Contents of iLifeSoundEffects_Loops.pkg
I open everything just to see the one you send me but I can not find it,
Do I have to insert Mac OS X Install DVD too?
The Application Install DVD was installed twice already,
Does that affect the memory of my Macbook?
    Thanks again,
    Waden

  • My photo booth is deleted, My photo booth is deleted

I think i accidently deleted my photo booth. Can you please help me how I can get it back?

i just tried to delete it as well, but it is a part of os x so you cannot delete it. as tomo2 above says, either you just dragged it off the dock accidentally, or in case you did delete it by some god-knows-what method, you will need to boot from your os x dvd that came with your mac and install it back. thats the only (trusted) place you can find it.

  • How do I delete old Photo Booth effects?

I'm using a late 2011 MacBook Pro with Mavericks installed, I haven't used photobooth in a long time but upon recently opening it I decided that I wanted to delete the old third-party effects that I have installed as it sometimes slowed the application down. I tried my usual approach and went to the Library > Compositions but found nothing in there to delete. If anyone can help me out that would be great!

  • Mac Book Pro 13" LPTP-Photo Booth Recorded Video File won't find my video/movie that I recently recorded from Sun 9-1-13. Is there a way I can retrieve the files under the Time Machine or will I need to download something for iPhoto Booth?

I have been having the most difficult times with the use of iPhoto Booth for recording movie files of church services. It seems if I make a rename on the files, for some odd reason, I cannot find it in any of my Files Folders in Finder. I need to know is there a more simple way to retrieve movie files thru iPhoto Booth or is there something I may can download to fix this issue? Also, is there a way the videos can be flipped around to not a mirror image, but to a reverse camera? Please anyone who recognizes this problem, contact me ASAP. Thank you for your support!

You used the data.  Verizon can not see what it was sued for.  However your phone can see whats apps used the data.  go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle.  line the dates up with your cycle.  then there will be a bar graph below that   extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right.  after those are extended below that will be a list of apps,  there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

  • How do I recover a file deleted from photo booth?

I deleted a small video file and when I close the program , that file appears in the trash
However, the video I accidentally deleted was large, 13 minutes long, and when I deleted it it didnt go to the trash folder
So I made another long video just to check and it seems that the long clips dont go to the Trash
Do you have any idea whats going on? and where I can find my clip?

check at https://www.icloud.com/ to see if the file is saved there in documents or iCloud drive
if not check under settings > iCloud > storage > manage storage and see if there is a backup of the iPad from when the document was still saved
if there is restoring your iPad form that backup may recover it
Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support
if there is not then check to see if it is still saved on any other computers or devices to see if it is saved there
    good luck

  • Photo Booth doesn't show all pictures taken

I reformatted my iMac and now the pictures taken before the reformat don't appear in PBooth. Only the newly taken ones appear, although I can see the old ones in the Finder in the same location as the new ones (User/Pictures/Photo Booth). There are over 100 pics in that location, but only 7 show in PB.
Why can I not see them all in PBooth?

Check the Recents.plist that Photo Booth uses to keep track of its images: ~/Library/Application Support/Photo Booth/Recents.plist. I would guess that your Recents.plist currently shows only 7 entries. To fix the problem: (1) Duplicate the file, just in case you need it back. (2) Open Recents.plist in TextEdit and then add a line for every item in ~Pictures/Photo Booth following the pattern in the array section: for example, insert "<string>Photo 4.jpg</string>" to add Photo 4.jpg to the images PB recognizes. (3) Save the file.
As an alternative, you could recover your old Recents.plist from a backup and then modify that file to match the content of ~Pictures/Photo Booth.

  • Can't Delete photos under Recent Photos (box/yellow outline as icon)

I have been trying to figure things out on my iMac (it is new!) (Just a note, I migrated all info from my eMac w/ a firewire)...
So, I actually have 2 questions:
1-In iPhoto, under recent photos, there is a box icon outlined in yellow. If I click on it, eight old photos come up. I cannot seem to figure out how to delete these. I have tried dragging them individually to the trash, but they bounce back. I tried to drag the entire icon/folder, but nothing happens.
    How do I delete these?
    Also,
I have the iPhoto icon in the dock, but I can't get it in the Finder. If I try to drag it to the Finder, it disappears entirely.
When it was in the Finder, it was actually an icon of a person's head (like the public profile icon) and it said iPhoto.app next to it.
It didn't have the camera icon.
Thanks for the help in advance

You don't. That's a Smart Album. It's just showing photos that were recently accessed. The files are in your Library. You need to go there to delete them. If that Smart Album is not updating, try delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
I have the iPhoto icon in the dock, but I can't get it in the Finder.
Right click on the icon in the dock and choose 'Show In Finder'.

  • Transferring photo booth files/pics ?

i want to transfer my photo booth images to my new macbook, i understand that the system creates a photo booth album in the pictures folder of the home folder and every photo taken in photo booth on that machine will be saved there, but what if i have some photo's taken on photo booth on my old machine and i want them on the new machine, but i dont just want them in the photo booth folder (which would be a drag and drop job) but i also want them to be displayed in the actual photo booth application itself in the roll along the bottom as the ones taken on the new machine are
is there a folder where the thumbnail/.thm images are stored like in iphoto?
    hope this isn't confusing
    any help much appreciated

The only way to get photo booth to recognize the new photos is by using the same file name of a photo already in the folder. For example: you have 10 photos you want to put in the new photo booth. They all have file names like Photo 1, Photo 2, etc. You have to first make a photo with the new photo booth - files will then be created and they also have file names like Photo 1, Photo 2, etc. You need to change the name of the photo files you want to appear in the new photo booth to match the photo files already there and replace them when you copy into the new photo booth folder.
Another option if you have a lot of photos- although you should have a backup of all the photo booth files before modifying anything because it could crash the new photo booth application and make it not open any more.... You need to copy the entire photo booth photos folder to the new computer (from username/pictures). You also need to copy the Recents.plist file from username/library/application support/photo booth into the same folder on the new computer.

  • Is my photo booth movie permanently deleted when I push x in the thumbnail?

I pushed x in the thumbnail of a movie I was watching in photo booth because I thought it would pause it. Without warning it dissapeared. Is there a way I can get it back?

    Hello Caleb
I tried this on my Mac, and here is what I found.
Click on the "Trash" iCon in your Dock. If you have not emptied Trash, your deleted video clip should be there. You can drag it out of Trash and play it with QuickTime Player.
However, even if you drag it back into your Pictures > Photo Booth folder, Photo Booth thinks it is gone. The filename has been deleted from Photo Booth's database.
You can use the file you have retrieved from trash, but if you for some reason need to have it in your Photo Booth tray, you will need to recreate the movie using Photo Booth.
