    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have an Early 2008 Mac Pro. You have the specs that your Mac Pro needs for more memory > https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4433#4 As you can read, that computer should have come with 2 GB of memory.
You can buy memory at OWC or Crucial > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Mac-Pro-Memory#800-memory Those sell compatible memory with all Macs. You can use another memory, but you can be sure that the memory that these brands sell are compatible

  • TS1292 My pin number had been already use? I bought a $10 card and it appears that has been used. How can i solve this?

    Hi!!
My pin number had been already use? I bought a $10 pin number and it appears that has been used.
    How can i solve this?
I already speak with a representative of the provider company and they told me to contact Itunes or apple to solve this.
    Help me please!!
I cant neither pay with my Master card debit and now with a pin.

From where did you buy this "PIN"? And did you get an actual card, or did they just send you a number? If you got only a number, then you may well have been defrauded. You'll need to go back to whoever sold you this "PIN" to resolve the problem. Apple to the best of my knowledge does not authorize any company to provide codes rather than a physical card and hence probably cannot help you if you did not get a physical iTunes card or receive a gift certificate issued by the iTunes Store themselves.
    Regards.

  • [SOLVED] Shared Firefox Profile on ntfs partition "in use"

After failing to install arch on an ancient computer a year ago, I've successfully installed arch with lightdm and openbox on my current desktop.
Everything works fine except for the firefox profile I share across my partitions.  When I run firefox -p and try to use the profile, I get a message that Firefox cannot use the profile because it is in use, even though I've checked that firefox is not running.
I am aware that using openbox without a DE means other partitions aren't auto mounted in filemanagers (I'm using xfe), and I edited the /etc/fstab to mount the ntfs partition:
    # /dev/sdb2 LABEL=Data
    UUID=(the UUID is correct, I checked) /media/user/Data  ntfs  rw,auto,user,exec,suid,async,dev,umask=000   0 0
The drive now auto mounts without needing root, but I cannot create new folders even as root (Operation not permitted). Perhaps I've forgotten an option in the fstab?

    Thanks! That worked perfectly!
I installed ntfs-3g and changed the fstab to the default on that page, and now firefox loads exactly like in my other partitions.

  • Mail rules accidentally deleted all of my emails. How to restore?

    Alright, here goes.
I tried to set up af number of rules in my Mail application (just the standard one), that would delete some "subscribtion emails" that I never read anyways. And no, it's not spam.
BUT, I accidentally forgot to set the "any" criteria to "all", which means it all of a sudden deleted all mails with my email address as recipent. How can I restore them? They do NOT appear in my "Deleted messages"!
Also, is it really true that such a simple user mistake, can cause the user to lose highly important emails? I mean... It's like one click away from utter and permanent removal of the emails. If that's the case, I am really disappointed in Apple. I know I made a mistake, but forgetting to set "any" to "all" is something I feel anyone can do on accident, since it's on "any" as default. And it just applies the rule to the whole mailbox! I had no chance to stop it, and now my mails are gone. Important ones from the government, tax-mails, receipts... all just gone.
And no... I do not have a backup of those mails. I am without a time machine harddisk, and I honestly thought that deleted mails would appear in the "deleted mails" folder on iCloud, but they do not. The rules must have deleted those two, even though I have no idea why and how that should be possible.
And yes, the emails are gone from ALL of my devices, and not just the Mac... even iCloud.com does not have any trace that they even existed.
Please help, I know I haven't been smart about it, but permanently deleting such a large amount of emails, without warning or recovery method, simply should not be possible!
Any support is highly appreciated. I am looking at a world of s*** if I can't recover some of these important emails. Thank you in advance!
And here's a smiley, so you know that I am normally a very happy guy, and so you also know that I will be immensely joyful and appreciative of your help

Yeah, I don't think you should be disappointed with Apple. It's definitely not their fault. Only yours. Sorry to be frank, but "Any" and "All" conditionals are very obvious, and I have never made this mistake. I am not sure what you would want Apple to do to prevent this -- make an alert box come up saying "You are choosing Any which means when you do this your rule will apple to Any of the conditions you set". That would just annoy us other users that already understand what All and Any mean.
My point is that you should study the manuals and very good knowledge before you attempt at anything with your mac especially creating Mail Rules that will automatically delete emails.
You don't do backups which is also very strange and you should learn how to do them, as this is very important if anything happens to your computer at a later date, as you've just experienced.

  • Accidentally deleted Gmail Sent Messages in Mail; how to restore in Gmail

I use Apple Mail with snow leopard (OS 10.6.3)
In trying to troubleshoot a problem (2 copies of Sent emails showing in Apple's Sent Mail folder; one from local account, one from Gmail after syncing with server), I tried setting the Apple Email pref to Delete Sent Mail on quitting Mail.
Of course, this resulted in the Gmail server deleting ALL my Sent Mail. Although that mail CAN be found through a SEARCH (search ALL mail; FROM: my name; (for some reason, it is NOT all in trash, so needed to search on ALL MAIL), I cannot figure out any simple way to put the Sent Mail back into the Sent folder on Gamil.
I tried doing a custom search, but cannot move selected mail to Sent folder (only to Inbox)
Any help would be most appreciated- thanks.

In Mail previous versions, when I deleted a message from my Gmail account, it was locally. Now all the messages deleted in Mail, goes to "Trash" in my Gmail account. Is there anyway of avoiding it? Everyday I have to restore from "trash" to folders in Gmail account to keep my saved messages with the exception of "sent" messages which I must restore to "Inbox" folder.
    Thanks for your help

my mouse has no right click button
Right-Click is the same as Control-Click (holding the Control key, then clicking).
Look in your Home folder for "Downloads".
Drag it to the Dock.   Then Right-Click (or Control-Click) on the Downloads folder now in the Dock, and configure how you want the information in Downloads to be displayed.
If you want it in your Finder side-bar, Drag it to the Finder Side-bar from your Home folder.

It would appear that your system is somewhat mangled, and it is time for some general 'servicing'.
    Start here:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.
    Background information here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
    More useful reading here:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

For a full description of how to resolve Disk, Permission and Cache Corruption, you should read this FAQ from the X Lab:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/repairprocess.html
Reboot your Mac and then perform a Safe Boot:

Now try downloading and installing again.

  • Why is an NTFS partition not mounting on Powerbook & how to get it to

I have a new external portable (bus powered) Maxtor Mini III drive that is formatted NTFS for Windows, My powerbook 1.5gHz cannot mount it. Disk utility recognizes the drive by name, but shows no volume and the erase tab is all gray. It mounts read and writes on an older PC running windows XT (at a friends). It also mounts to desktop on an older iMac, (I think that is the model apple) It belongs to a school and I have no administrator access to run disk utility on it nor play with it otherwise.
Therefore I conclude that a 1 year powerbook no longer has the capacity to mount what an older iMac is mounting.
    What's that all about?
My goal is to be able to reformat this drive with my powerbook.
    How can I do that?
I expect that if I use disk management utility on a PC and delete the partition, it will then be format-able on my powerbook. Expecting that then, when inserted the OS 10.4 will say the drive is not recognized and ask if I want to format it.
Perhaps what I need is some sort of generic universal NTSF USB "driver" for my mac such that I can recognize the NTSF partition and then delete it on the powerbook.
    Any such thing? or what?
    Thanks,

I was wrong, it is not NTFS. According to a 700 mHz eMac running 10.3.9, it is Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled). And it mounts the desktop on the eMac as well as reading and writing. I can copy files to it and remove them on the eMac.
My powerbook 1.5 gHz on the other hand, still not mounting.
Given this error I will repost this problem under a new subject.
Why would a drive mount an eMac desktop but not a Powerbook?
