Deleted Numbers?

I deleted a bunch of my old phone numbers I didn't use anymore. Now when I go to send a new text in the auto fill part some of the old numbers pop up. How do I completely get rid of those numbers?

If you want to truly and permanently delete SMS messages from your iPhone, there are a few options:
1. Sync Regularly - Since syncing with iTunes is what actually erases items you've marked for deletion, sync regularly. If you delete an SMS on your iPhone and then sync your iPhone, the message really will be gone for good.
Learn more about syncing your iPhone.
2. Remove Messages from Spotlight Search - Your deleted SMS messages can't appear in a Spotlight search if Spotlight isn't looking for them in the first place. You can control what apps Spotlight searches in and which it ignores, so you can stop it from searching Messages. To do this:
From your home screen, tap Settings
Tap General
Scroll about halfway down the screen and tap Spotlight Search
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Messages to uncheck it.
Now, when you run a Spotlight search on your phone, SMS messages won't be included in the results.
3. Erase All Data or Restore to Factory Settings -These are fairly extreme steps, but they do solve the problem. Erasing all data on your iPhone does just what it sounds like: it erases everything stored in your iPhone's memory, including your text messages marked for deletion. Of course, it deletes your music, email, apps, and everything else, too, but it solves the problem.
Learn how to erase iPhone data.
The same is true of restoring the iPhone to factory settings. This basically returns the iPhone to the state it arrived from the factory to you in. Again, it deletes everything, but your deleted text messages will definitely be gone.

4. Use a Passcode - One way to prevent nosy people from finding your deleted text messages is to keep them from gaining access to your iPhone in the first place. A good way to do that is to put a passcode on your iPhone that they have to enter before it will unlock. The standard iPhone passcode is 4 digits, but for extra-strength protection, try the more secure passcode you get by turning the Simple Passcode option off.

  • How do I permanently delete Numbers files on the iPad?

    Friends:
How do I permanently delete Numbers files on the iPad? I use the trash button, and they seem to be deleted, but they are not. If I leave Numbers and come back, I can still load the deleted files!
How do i permanently delete them?
    Thanks

Do you mean to delete them from numbers, or from the shared folder location in the upper right? The previous poster was addressing the second. If you want to completely delete something from the iPad, you must do both, the trash can icon when e current workbook is in front of the list, and swipe to delete from the shared folder list. It's two completely different locations.

  • How can I permanently delete numbers from my iPhone without them having to show up under messages!

Okay so I've deleted numbers from my contacts list and whenever I go to my messages and tap on the icon to write and message to someone that I do have on my phone the people numbers I deleted from my contacts list still show up is there anyway I can't delete those numbers for good?

Is it actually downloading or simply transferring content from the iPhone to the iTunes library?

  • Retrieve deleted numbers file

Anyone know how to retrieve a file I accidentally deleted in Numbers on ipad please?

Isn't the point of iCloud to back up?
I usually use Quickoffice with dropbox where this is not an issue. I decided to try numbers with iCloud and found that while you cannot log into iCloud on the ipad (go figure???) you can get in through the PC. Went in and put of several numbers documents, only 1 is there. So, clearly whatever iCloud does, it does not back up - and yes the ipad backs up daily (or at least it reports it does, clearly not with iWork docs).
    Solution: dropbox and quickoffice

  • TS3991 Restoring a Deleted Numbers Work Book

I store my iWork documents on iCloud and this morning I manged to select an older version of a Numbers document when I was given the option and have lost my current document.  Is there any way of getting the overwritten/deleted version resinstalled?

iCloud copies of documents are also kept on your mac...
    ~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolders where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
Now, if the file you need is gone, then use Time Machine to restore that one file from an previous backup.  This assumes you use Time Machine to make hourly backups of your mac.

  • AppleScript to delete numbers 1-99 in a specific context (Pages)

    Hello!
I would like to have an AppleScript to execute the following in a Pages document
Delete all numbers from 1 to 99 in the document
only if the following criterias are met
Numbers are not in a table
Numbers must be located on the line preceeding a table only
Numbers must be at the beginning of the line
    Any help would be appreciated!!
    Thanks

The following script, though not blazing fast, seems to work:
    tell application "Pages"
        activate
set theCount to count tables of body text of front document
repeat with k from 1 to theCount
select table k of body text of front document
            tell application "System Events"
-- Select the paragraph before the table:
                key code 123
                key code 124 using {shift down}
                key code 123 using {shift down, command down}
            end tell
            try
-- Delete the paragraph if it contains only a number between 1 and 99:
                get contents of selection
set theNumber to result as integer
if theNumber > 0 and theNumber < 100 then delete selection
            end try
        end repeat
-- Place the insertion point at the beginning of the document:
        tell application "System Events" to key code 126 using {command down}
    end tell

  • Deleted numbers reappear

I just went through my phone the other day and deleted a lot of contacts, but when i go to backup my phone the contacts all reappear. How can i permanetly delete contacts so when i backup my phone this will not happen?

    Hello lt9,
Thanks for bring your backup concern to our attention. This service is designed to be easy and seamless to our customers. Rest assured as I am committed to making it just that. May I ask are you logged into the website on a computer using the same mobile number/profile as your wireless device? Also, how much information do you have stored under each contact? For example, if you have just names and numbers then the pocess should be super easy. If you have birthdays, addresses, email accounts, notes, etc then this may make the backup process more difficult. As you share the details of the questions asked then we can do a deep dive a find a solution that works for you.
    Thank you...

  • Backup Assistant seems to have deleted numbers from my phone

I performed a backup with BA, and had 90 or so contacts on my phone and on the website.  Everything was fine for a few days, and I added two more contacts to my phone.  Then Monday I see my phone only has two numbers.  The two new ones.
The contacts are on the online BA, but I can't get them back on the phone.  I've tried the "Sync" button on the web site.  I've tried manually running BA on the phone 5 times (with an hour in between).
What is going on?  How do I get the numbers back onto my phone?

Does anyone else think this outage is lasting a bit too long? I lost my phone and figured it was no big deal because I used backup assistant. I simply bought a new phone. The sales guy at the verizon store said the system was down for a couple of hours and I could get my contacsts later that evening. I wouldn't have stayed with verizon if I new my contacts couldn't be retrieved. I had over 200 contacts. Who can I call to complain about this issue? Getting a stock response saying the system is down is not acceptable. I don't care if the info has to be mannually stripped from the servers and sent to our phones. arghhh.

I cannot re-open files that have been saved in Numbers version09 - it states "You need a newer version of numbers to open this document". This is the latest version & also the one I have created/saved???

    Jules,
You may delete Numbers 08 if you wish, but some folks like keeping it around. Close all your Numbers docs and Quit the Numbers app, and the other Numbers app if necessary. Then click the Numbers icon on your doc. Then select Numbers > About Numbers, and in the window that pops up, see which version it is. If the Dock icon started Numbers 08, you can cure that by dragging that icon off the Dock and letting it go in a puff of virtual smoke.
Now, to put the Numbers 09 icon on the Dock, double-click one of those known Numbers 09 documents so that Numbers 09 starts up. Verify by checkig Numbers > about Numbers.
Now click and hold the Numbers Dock icon and select the Option for Keep in Dock.

    A CAUTION
The article linked in YeOldMacFan's post gives the basic information. I would place some emphasis on these statements from the last two paragraphs:
"If you have no further need for the older version of the iWork application or the iWork suite on your Mac, you may delete the the application or the iWork suite by dragging the application or the iWork folder to the trash."
"[Keeping both versions] allows you to maintain consistent versions when collaborating with other people who may not have the latest iWork suite."
Collaboration with other people is not the only reason for keeping both new and old versions of Numbers (or Pages of Keynote) available.
The current versions were developed with the goal of improving compatibility between iOS, OS X and iCloud transferability of files, and many features supported in the '09 versions of these applications are NOT supported (yet) in the new versions. If you need these features for your work, then you still have a need for the older versions.
Any file opened, then saved from the new versions cn no longer be opened in the older version. Unsupported features may be removed on importing he file into the new version. The file may be exported from the new version as a Numbers '09 file, which may then be opened in Numbers '09, but unsupported features removed in the import to Numbers 3 will not be restored in the export.
Use your own judgement as to whether to keep of delete Numbers '09. My choice would be to keep it.
My personal choice has been to delay installing the new versions of Numbers Pages and Keynote until support for more of the 'missing' features has been restored.
    Regards,
    Barry
