Deleted original Appleworks

Hi
Seems I'm on a role with messing up my Appleworks.. having fixed the trouble with quitting when going to find/change - I was trying to clear some space on my hard disk and appear to have deleted the original application - or that's what its telling me..
I have tried re-installing with my original disks but it doesn't do it.. can anyone help?
Thanks
Ash

How have you tried reinstalling from the original disks? Did you get your iBook within the last year & did it come with an Install DVD? Or is it older & come with Restore CDs? Post back with this information & we can guide you from there.

  • Delete original file (from camera)

    Hi all,
I use iPhoto and Photoshop on my Mac for different purposes: iPhoto for family events and travel that I won't be doing much (if any) editing to, and Photoshop (Elements 7) for my hobby photography pictures.
I got on Photoshop this morning to import some recent photos from my camera, hooked things up as always, opened Bridge CS3, and selected File>Get photos from camera.
For some reason, I can't find the Delete Original Files checkbox in the Photo Downloader screen (whereas it shows up here: http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Bridge/2.0/help.html?content=WSEC378273-AF69-4a1e-9CD8-10 8420C556ED.html). I could be totally wrong, but thought I've always done things this way in the past to reduce a lot of tiny-camera-button-clicking through tons of photos.
Did this button disappear with a version update? Do I have some other option set incorrectly to not allow this one to appear? Or has the button never been there, and if not, is there a way to delete photos in mass from my camera?
Thanks for any & all help,
    Lori Ann

What you saw was a screenshot of Bridge CS4, somewhat misleading regarding the URL mention Bridge 2.0 in fact it is Bridge 3.0 that comes with CS4. And for some strange reason they added this option to Photodownloader CS4, IMO that energy could have been used better...
However as per Ramón, using this way is also in my opinion not the best way to work. If you don't want or have a card reader (again, not wise :-) ) then only download image from the camera and after this disconnect the camera and use the camera menu itself to format the CF card and start with a fresh and empty CF card.
BUT, don't do this before you have checked if the files you have copied to the computer are OK to open and again a wise thing would be to first make a back-up (if you study the downloader options a little you will see that this is also an option you can (or in fact should) use.

  • Deleting original applications?!

I would like to know if it is possible to delete original iphone applications e.g. notes weather stocks etc and if it is how to go about doing it...
    Any and all help welcome.

There is no way to do that, Apple thinks that you absolutely need these apps and therefore there is no way to get rid of them. I would just put them on the last page of the iPhone if you never use them so they are out of your way.

  • Deleting original images in referenced library

Stupid question - but how do you delete original images in a referenced library?  I have used the function "File>Delete original image and all versions" and I thought that this had permanently deleted some originals that I didn't want - but when I look in finder, they're still there on the hard drive, they just don't display any more in Aperture.  I can't believe you have to go and find the original file in finder to delete it...?  What have I missed?
    Thanks!

OK, have worked out that when I empty the aperture trash I need to tick the little box that says 'move referenced files to system trash' or something like that...
So...next question: how do I get the files that I've failed to delete properly back into Aperture so I can delete them properly - given that I don't know what files they are...

  • Can I keep a copy of a photo and delete original?

hey. Can I keep the copy of a pic and just delete original? like I know all photos go to one folder..but lets say I copy a pic to a folder I create..I go back to delete out of main folder.and it deletes it everywhere. anyway I can have the folder keep it? I get pics of dailies I shoot and I wanna keep em in a seperate folder.

The albums you can create on the fly only link to the camera roll.
But you could get a photo folder app and store the photos there, and keep the camera roll empty.

Thanks for the response, Peggy. I didn't find an update for the update of OA X10.6, but I did update Java to update 7. I also followed your instructions and deleted the preferences files. However, I still get the same dialog box: "Appleworks 6 Quit Unexpectedly". Any other ideas.? Many thanks,

Hi Sprinkles: You may need to repost your response in the original thread to get Peggy's attention. I have included the link to your previous thread below.

  • What is the difference between 'command delete' and using 'delete original and all versions'?

My masters are not referenced and I usually have only one version.  What is the difference between using 'command delete' versus going to the top menu bar and using 'dele

    Good question  .
When the Version is the only Version based on the Original of that Version, the two commands have the same effect.

  • How do I download and immediately delete original photos from iCloud photos?

How do I download and immediately delete all original photos from iCloud photos? This way, I have a local copy of all my iPhone photos, and my iPhone and iCloud space will be reset and empty.
Using the online iCloud web app, you can only select one photo at a time. There is no select all or download all. And when you try to select one by one multiple photos and download, it opens a download "save-as" window for each one! Not one download window for all the selected. So if you select one hundred photos, one hundred download "save-as" windows will pop up, and you have to click the save button one hundred times.
Using my Windows 7 PC, the iCloud app doesn't have iCloud photo sync, only the Photo Stream photos, which is separate.
After researching online, they said the Apple OS X Yosemite Photos app could do this. So I tried my wife's MacBook Pro, and there is a iCloud photo sync, BUT, it tries to merge with her local photos. My 20 GB iCloud is full with my iPhone pictures, and her local photo library is about 50 GB. So it doesn't not even merge or allow the iCloud photo sync to turn on without buying more storage! The Apple OS X Yosemite Photos app doesn't even have a download only feature, OR access the iCloud like a folder to drag and drop photos or like an FTP. WHAT THE?!?!
So there IS ABSOLUTELY NO OPTION SO FAR to download and remove immediately all photos in the iCloud photo storage with ANY device, unless maybe I delete all my wife's photos on her MacBook Pro, which is not an option. Or select one by one thousands of photos on the online web app.
Am I missing something? or is Apple not so user friendly as they seem to be?

    Open iphoto.  Connect camera.
    Import photos.
    Does that not work?

  • Cost element deletion-COEP entries deletion originated from Spl purpse ledg

    Hi Folks,
We have created RA GL account by mistake as cost element and some entries have already gone into table COEP table. To delete cost element the prerequisite is that cost element shouldn't contain any entries. We have deleted COEP entries by using program "RKACOR20 : to delete CO documents for the GL doc and its reversal document" generated from FI, but unable to delete one entry which has got originated from Special purpose ledger. Can any one suggest way to delete this entry from COEP table.

  • How do I place photos in a "sub album" and delete original from camera roll while keeping the copy in the sub album?

I'm able to create as many albums as I want under the main camera roll. from what I can see, I can add photos from my camera roll to an album but the two images are connected. so what happens is when I try to create albums according to event or subject, if I wanted to delete the original from the camera roll, it also deletes the copied image. What gives? Is there a way to have multiple albums on iphone where images won't be deleted?

No, the actual photos always remain in the camera roll.  Albums only contain pointers to selected photos in the camera roll.  They are like music playlists.  If you delete a song from your music library it will also be deleted from any playlist that contained it.  And you can't keep songs in a playlist that are not in your music library.

  • Deleting Original Pictures Question?

I just started using iPhoto. Prior to that I had all my pictures organized in folders by event. I imported all my pictures in iPhoto and almost everything was correct. For about 500 photos they dates we wrong causing the events to be out of order. I changed all the dates to the correct dates. I looked in the package contents on the iPhoto library file and noticed that there is a modified folder and an original folder. My question is relating to that... I compared the two folders and found that when I modified the date it created an entire new file in the modified folder... but it did not delete the original. I can understand keeping the original if you ever want to revert back or something... but all I did was change the date. I don't see the point in having two copies of the same picture, only with different dates.
Is there anyway to delete those originals without manually going through original directory and comparing the files to the modified directory???
    Thank in advance!

Is there anyway to delete those originals without manually going through original directory and comparing the files to the modified directory???
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.

  • Delete original ONLY IF not used in a non-reject version

    * I use only referenced masters *
Sometimes I'll shoot maybe 30 photos of a virtually identical scene with different settings and slightly different timing or lighting or focus.
Then I'll go back to the computer and edit a few of them into maybe 20 preliminary versions that may only use 12 of the original files.
This means I end up with a gig of superflous raw files, eating up space on my precious cramped SSD.
I can't tell them apart by sight and I want to get rid of originals that are used in only in a rejected version.
If I switch to just view rejects and delete originals and versions I lose the originals for versions I do want to keep.

What I need is a way to get Aperture to delete the raw files for which there are only rejected versions, or no versions at all (although then I don't know how Aperture would know about that raw file.)
Aperture has no smart rule to count the number of versions of an image . Try the following work-around:
Consolidate your rejected versions with "File > Consolidate" before you delete them. Now you can delete all rejected versions with "File > Delete Version ⌘⌫". When you delete the last remaining version the original raw file will be deleted as well. But as long as there is another version of the image the original file will be saved. When you are done with deleting rejected versions, you can use a smart search to find any remaining managed image and relocate it back to the folder outside.
Deleting images and getting rid of orphaned original image files is easier for managed images.
If you do not want to use the work-around to make the image managed before deleting versions, delete your versions only while browsing them in the project, sorted by filename. That will keep all versions side-by-side and you can see, if you are about to delete the last version. Or drag each version you want to delete to a new, empty project: When you move a version to a new project, all other versions will go along. You now will have a project containing only one image with all its versions. You should be able to see by the "rejected" badge, if you should delete using "delete version" or "all versions and the original".

  • Reducing library size by deleting original photos

To save hard drive space, I have used the following method to get rid of unwanted originals:
    1. crop a photo
    2. export it
    3. delete the original (command/delete)
    4. import the cropped photo
    5. delete trash
I've discovered that the cropped photo is often significantly smaller than the original (a 3mb file might be reduced to 300kb for instance, depending on the chosen quality).
    Two questions:
    1. Anyone know a better or easier way to do this?
    2. How come I discover that some of the deleted originals are still in the library? (They do not appear in iPhoto but when I view the package contents, I see that many are still there thus defeating the whole purpose of doing this!)

    For feature Requests:
IPhoto menu -> Provide iPhoto Feedback
But it's worth noting that Apple have had 7 iterations of iPhoto and never changed this way of working. Might make you think.
    First off -
I disagree with some people here that being forced to save such "originals" is such a necessary blessing forever and for all users.
You are not being ”forced“ to do anything. You have multiple choices all over the place. The most basic is that you can always use another application that works the way you want it to. Claiming that iPhoto ”forces“ you to protect the original is like complaining that Excel ”forces“ you to work in Spreadsheet Cells.
IPhoto is a Digital Asset Manager. It is designed to work on the best principles of DAM and always treats the original file as a film photographer treats the negative. If you do not want this feature, why on earth are you using a DAM?
Next off: Learn how to use iPhoto:
For those who prefer editing in Photoshop but the photo library management in iPhoto, I did notice that when you drag an iPhoto picture to the Photoshop icon, edit and save it, iPhoto does not realize that the image is modified and that prevents the duplicated data. Note, however, that this also means iPhoto's previews in smaller sizes show the original image (e.g. dull sky that you may have brightened in Photoshop) and the item info attributes, including size, dimensions, etc. are also as embedded in the iPhoto library when the photo was first imported.
That is not how you use iPhoto and Photoshop together.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.
Apple giving us the ability "Revert to Original" is a great tool - especially so newbies do not to damage or destroy precious photos. But, Apple should consider that over time people become power users and should be treated as adults who should have the facility to delete such wasted, unneeded originals which will never be seen again.
Love the disparaging reference to ”newbies“. Every professional I know always keeps the original file. Every single one.
The first thing an Adult might do is consider that a Spanner is not an appropriate tool for putting in a screw and go and get a screw driver. How ”adult“ would it be to persist in trying to insert the screw with the spanner and complain about it?
I'm not sure just what a ”power user“ is, but it wouldn't the definition include being able to distinguish between a Digital Asset Manager and a Photo Viewer? Or knowing how to use the app with an external editor? It's worth noting that all the professIonal apps - Lightroom, Aperture etc. - are DAM apps too. They all work to preserve your original. Must be something that ”power users“ want a lot.
So, I too use the method you use. Edit, export, reimport (if I am not in the mood to do Photoshop editing). Kind of silly to have to do these extra steps to get rid of useless files when on an OS that is all about convenience and user friendliness.
Kind of silly to be disabling one of the apps key features - non destructive editing - and making a whole lot of work for yourself when you could do what an adult ”power user“ would do: find an app that works the way you want.
IPhoto Diet trashed a whole lot of Libraries. Go back a few years and search the v5 and v6 forums.
Finally, if you are worried about disk space then simply run the Library from an external drive - and Apple don;t make those.

  • LR2 Switcher - creating adjusted versions & deleting "original" version

    Hi there
I have been running A2.1.2 and LR2.1 in parallel for a couple of weeks to see which I prefer (so far I have been using LR2 almost exclusively) and despite reading the Aperture manual and searching this forum I am still not sure if I have this right...
I typically perform a variety of minor adjustments (levels, WB, etc.) to my NEF images. In LR2 these adjustments are applied to my NEF image itself and no separate version is created. I understand that in A2.1.2, applying adjustments creates a new version (creating a stack that I promptly close) but I would ideally delete the "original" version if I can call it that (i.e. the image thumbnail before adjustments).
I can see that I can select "Delete Version" in the Browser in grid view when I select the "original" version and I have done that so that there are no stacks in my project composed of un-adjusted images and their adjusted versions but I just wanted to check if I was doing this right or if this is horrible behaviour according to best-practice with Lightroom?
    thanks in advance
    Rafael

Easy solution for you, go to preferences/general and down the bottom there are three check boxes, the top one is +"create new versions when making adjustments"+, turn this one off. The adjustments are then "made" to the master.

  • Can I delete Original Media folder after its all been transcoded?

So i remember reading that most footage you import should be transcoded. Though Final Cut Pro "works natively with formats like h.264 and dslr movs, it is better to have it optimized into Pro Res and transcoded." Having listened to that, I have Optimized all of my media that I have importated however now I have double the media in my FCP Events folders because I have both Original Media and Transcoded media. This leads me to a few questions...
    1) Can I delete the Original Media folder if all my my media is transcoded? How will this effect my timeline and projects? Will this free up space? How can I verify all of my clips have bene transcoded?
    2) Can I delete the Transcoded Media and go back to using the Original Media? Will this mess up my timeline and projects that I have started editing or will it revert the media in my projects back to the Original? Which would run faster/better performacne Original Or Transcoded? I shoot all of my footage on a Canon 7d DSLR 24/30 fps 1080p, H.264.
    3) What workflows have you used so that you dont dobule anything? If this project is a loss, what should I be doing in future events when importing? Should I send to Compressor and transcode there BEFORE I import into FCP. That way I am only importing the Transcoded stuff?
    Thoughts?
    Mike

1- Yes, you can delete the Original Media folder, FCP will only read from your Optimized Media folder then.  But move it to the trash first, then launch FCP X and test it out, before emptying the trash.
2- Yes, again, test it as I mentioned in 1 above.  Once you remove either Original or Optimized, it's gone, that's it.
3- Always let FCP do the transcoding, doing it in Compressor gains you nothing.  You shold base your decision to optimize on the hardware you're using and the amount of storage space you have available.  H.264 is super compressed.  ProRes uncompresses it and is more of it's natural file size.
