Deleted photo's thumbnails appear in N97's capture...

Hi guys.
As the title said, deleted photo's thumbnails appear in my N97's capture gallery. I capture an image or two and when I go to my Photos > Captured I see tumbnails of images I deleted a long time ago. When I open a file I still see an image that was deleted ower a year ago.
Only when I click "edit" do I see the recently captured image that I should have seen in the first place.
I tried everything. Restore factory settings, delete everything the phone lets me in explorer... still the problem persists. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi dtbsz,
We're sorry to hear you have been having trouble with this, but here are a few ways to thoroughly get to the bottom of your issue. I'm assuming you're using the defult photo app.
Firstly, connect your N97 using Mass Storage mode.  If you have Windows, open up the drive associated with the N97 under My Computer.  Before going anywhere, make sure you have your Windows Explorer set to show hidden files as well.  Go to Tools > Folder Options > View.  Somewhere in there you'll see a branch called "Hidden files and folders".  Select "Show hidden files and folders".  Hit Apply and Ok.
Now, you'll see in your mass storage drive a folder called "Private".  Open Private > 101ffc31.  Then delete glxmdstn.  Unplug your phone, and re-open your Photos app.
If this does not solve the issue, try the following too:
1) Do a full backup, with user data.
2) Do another full backup, but without user data.
3) Reformat the phone.
4) Restore the data from the full backup with user data.
5) If the problem persists, reformat the phone again.
6) This time, restore the data without user data.
Ensure you have the critical data backed up separately too, instead of relying on NBU.
Report back and let us know about your progress.

haZey

  • Deleted photo and thumbnail still shows up in album view and camera roll

Hi, whenever i delete a photo on either my ipad(2) or iphone(4s), the thumbnail of the deleted photo still shows up in the album view and camera roll.
Also, a picture that i deleted months ago (have saved other photos since then, and replaced the thumbnail) from my ipad randomly showed up in the album view and camera roll??
I have IOS 5.0.1 installed on both iphone(4s) and ipad(2).
Is this a software glitch or??
    thanks

Sounds like a damaged database fie:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Most recent photos and thumbnails appear corrupted

a little complex this one.  Recently had the hard drive replaced following seagate problem.  Restored from hard drive.  IPhoto11 9.2.3 All photos and albums appeared to be ther in the thumbmails.  when clicked on recent photos (NB old ones still OK) the picture came up from the thumbnail and then when clicked to edit it went out of focus.  Then the portrait thumbnails came up into fullscreen but when I clicked on the landscape thumbnails the triangle and exclamation mark appeared -NB same camera same time photos.  Following a previous discussion I downloaded IPhioto manager and rebuilt the library.  When I did the thumbnails are now just grey squares but only the most recent ones all old ones are still fine.  when I click on the grey thumnbail to open in full screen the triangle and exclamation  mark appears but the system still tries to do face recognition on the grey square.  All a little challenging to understand - any help welcome

What do you mean it "restored itself". It can't do that. User interaction is required to initiate that.
Did you not have a recent backup of it? If not, then the data is gone.

  • Deleted photos did not appear in trash

on iMac I went to retrieve some deleted photos only to find that they were not in trash.

Your previous message, an hour ago, was the first one I’ve seen on the Photoshop Elements forum since 8 hours ago, and only the fifth one since 20 hours ago.
The Adobe forums have been down all day—maybe for a scheduled upgrade, or maybe due to fixing the Heartbleed OpenSSL vulnerability if they were afflicted with that, so what messages may or may not have come through and who might have seen what is unclear at this point.
These messages have all come through my e-mail as the main forums.adobe.com website has been down since last night every time I’ve checked.

  • PSE6 can I recover deleted photos from thumbnails?

Photos were accidentally deleted from the hard disk and the Recycle Bin but recovery software restored many of them. However, quite a few were recovered as pairs of files: each pair had the same number but with respectively a .lcd and .tnb suffix, and they are unreadable. In virtually every case the .lcd file is 41Kb and the .tnb file is 3KB. Does anyone know what these files are and if there is any way of joining them back together so that they are once again .jpg files that can be read? We've still got thumbnails of the lost files and I've seen the very helpful advice on how to keep these, but it would be good to be able to access the original photos. Thank you.

    Hi,
I am not sure if the .lcd file that you are referring is your recovered image file.
To check this, just change the extention from .lcd to .jpg for one file. Open the image in Editor and check if you see your image.
If yes, change the extension .jpg for all the other files.
    Thanks/ Tarun

  • Is it possible for deleted photos to randomly appear on photo stream?

So I had a photo on my iphone 4s back in the spring, and I deleted it, but then last night it randomly showed up on my photo stream on my new 5s  when I know for a fact that it hasn't been there since I accidently deleted it off my phone back in the spring. Is this possible for it to happen through iCloud? So I know I'm not crazy.

No, the iPod Touch cannot get a virus by visiting a website. There are no viruses that affect the iPod.

  • IMovie 'tap to insert media', but no thumbnails appear

I have over a hundred photos and 10+ videos (all taken with the iPhone 4), but when I 'tap to insert media', followed by selecting either video or photos, no thumbnails appear; i.e. there is nothing to select from. What am I missing here?

I did and I did... I tapped [+] and picked my project theme, next screen 'tap [(downarrow)] to insert media'... did that. Next screen, choose 'video', photos, or audio'... did that. Then zip, no camera roll, no thumbnails, nothing.

  • N97 - problems deleting photos

I cannot delete photos from my n97, everytime i try to delete any photos stored I get the message "General system error" . I need to delete 127 photos and they seem to be just stuck there.  The phone will not even let me sync them to my PC.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like photos app database is corrupted. You've deleted the files, but they're still in phone's indexes/thumbnails cache. If you remove the database it'll rebuild itself.
Connect to PC in mass storage mode, check show hidden files in windows. Open phone's mass storage drive, then open Private folder. Open 10281e17and rename or delete [102830AB]thumbnail_v2. Use safely disconnect hardware in taskbar before disconnecting. Open photos app and it'll search for pics, hopefully the deleted ones will be gone.
If that doesn't help then repeat the above, and also open Images folder and rename or delete  _PAlbTN content, then check photos app again.
Final solution is to format mass memory. The thing to note here is that all images will appear in Downloads folder once restored, only pics taken with camera after the format will appear in Captured. First uninstall apps from E:, this is just a precaution as some apps also store data on C: and this will help prevent any potential problems later such as duplicated entries. Use mass storage method to back up user files (pics, music, etc) to PC. Then format mass memory from file manager options. Restore data and reinstall apps.
Formatting mass memory can take some time depending on the amount of data you need to back up then restore, so it's worth trying deleting the Private/Images folder files first.

  • Thumbnails appear in iPhoto, but photos cannot be opened on its own

    Hello-
I had an older camera that I have since replaced. When I uploaded the photos to iPhoto initially, they were uploaded fine. However, now when I go to open them in iPhoto, I can see them only as a small thumbnail. When I double click on the image, the photo does not appear- rather a circle with an exclamation point in it. Is there any way to save these photos? Thank you!

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.

    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.

  • Deleted Photos appear again after iPhoto-Restart

    Hi,
I am using a large iPhoto-Library from a Samba-shared directory. This works fine for a long time.
I just realised that deleting of photos and events seems to be buggy:
    1. When tragging a Photo to iPhoto-trashbin in still appears as an events, but also in the trashbin. When deleting the content of the trashbin the event disappears
    2. The crasy thing is is appears again when reloading the app
rebuilding of caches or anything doesn't help. I tried out a lot
I checked out in the finder: The picture was never deleted from its original folder. I deleted it manually. Now the thumbnail appears, but the white '?' comes up, when opening the picture
    Anyone having the same probem?

    Hi,
I am sorry that I was asking a question that was obvious to everyone.
As I didn't found a solution to make a MacOsExtended Journaled filesystem on ubuntu to mount and share it with samba or nfs (HFS+ seems to be quite similar, but cannot be mounted rw) it tried something different:
Instead of shareing the mounted filesystem through TCP/IP I am shareing the block-device now. I found an mac app that allows to act as iscsi initiator. To set up an LVM on ubuntu and make it in iscsi-divice is easy. Until now this works quite nice. I guess I will be able to use Timemachine though this mechanismn as well.
I would like to suggest something to the apple-developers:
It would be great to have a feature in iPhoto allowing use a local and a server-library. The local library only shows the Photos of the last 12 month or so, but the thumbnails of everything. Everytime you connect your server an automatic sync to the server library (containing everything) is done.
    Thanks a lot

  • HT204655 photos loaded but appearing as blank thumbnails

I've just migrated a large amount of photos to the Photos programme, but many of them don't appear in thumbnail view - instead, the thumbnail is blank. If I double click on the blank thumbnail, the photo appears, and then the thumbnail appears, but otherwise, the majority of my library appears as blanks.
    Any advice?

I take it you just can't do another delete on those blank thumbnails, right?
Try rebuilding the library using iPhoto Library Manager. It creates a new library while leaving the old one untouched. It has often worked when iPhoto's rebuild did not. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.
    Good luck.

  • How do I delete photos and photo albums from my iPhone? The instructions given do not work. No "delete" symbol appears next to the album name, and no trash can icon appears below most of the pictures the computer just put on my new iPhone 4.

How do I delete photos and photo albums from my iPhone 4? The instructions given do not work. No "delete" symbol appears next to the album name when I press "Edit," and no trash can icon for me to click appears below most of the individual photos in the albums the computer just loaded on my new iPhone 4. When I synced the new phone the computer added these photo albums without permission from me. They are now taking up about 3 GB of memory on my phone. I would like very much to get rid of these photos from the phone. How do I do this?

To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.

  • HT4053 How do I delete photos, the delete button does not appear to be working?

I have downloaded all my photos to my new IPad. I need to delete some I do not want, how do I do it. The delete button does not appear to be working?

I personally don't know of any other software that does syncing, however, you can use another cloud service like Dropbox or Flikr to house your photos, add and delete them and have them available for viewing on any device or comuter that has an internet connection.
I'm not sure why you would be having trouble not getting photos that you put into your Photo Stream Uploads folder on your iPad. Photo Stream is Photo Stream. Also, just so you know, photo management and Photo Stream have nothing to do with iTunes. Photo management on the computer is done through your photos folder and app (on a Mac, it's iPhoto). You only use iTunes to tell the sync process which items to retrieve and sync from that library. Photo Stream is completely independent of iTunes altogether.
If you want to get photos from a camera to your iPad without having to use a computer, get a camera connection kit which will allow you to physically hook the camera to the iPad, and to directly download the photos from the camera to the iPad.
You would still want to also hook the camera up to the computer to back those photos up to your photo library on your computer.
Also you might want to look into purchasing (for under $5) iPhoto for your iPad:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/iphoto/id497786065?mt=8
Seems like you might benefit from talking to your local Apple Store about when they might have some sessions for learning photo management and sharing between your device and computer, because what you appear to be wanting to do is all do-able. I guess I'm just missing what your issue is. You can many things with photos on your iPad, however, your device will never be a substitue for your computer for backing up and managing your photos.
So, best of luck, I hope one of the suggestions above will help you to achieve what you are trying to do.
    Cheers,

    Hello,
I'm trying to free up space on my MacBook Air by deleting videos & photos, but when I attempt to do so, the supposed deleted items do not appear in the iPhoto trash.  Even if I drag to the trashcan in the list.  What am I doing wrong?  I delete manually the items, and they do disappear from view, but...where do they go/?
