Deleted Playlists Reappear New Playlists Remain Local ONLY

I've been having issues when enabling iTunes Match on my iPhone 6 Plus.
That is to say, my playlists are in disarray, in completely random locations (not in the folder structure on my Mac).
I then proceeded to delete & re-create each playlist from scratch on my Mac.  However when updating iTunes match all my deleted playlists re-appeared.  The new replacements I created (with new names) remained on my laptop, but when I re-enabled iTunes match on my phone, nothing had changed at all (all existing playlists remained in the same places, un-deleted, new playlists did not exist).
I then (after doing some searching) proceeded to delete the playlists from my iPhone instead.  This worked (they were removed from my Mac), however, since the new playlists I created on my Mac seem to be remaining local ONLY, I now have no working playlists on my phone.
Anybody have any idea how to fix this?  It's really annoying and I don't believe I'm doing anything incorrectly on my end.

Wonderful, its fixed! Thank you so much.
I hope everyone get the fixes they need.
My Pod is like my bike, my car, or my guitar. If its not working, I can't think properly until its fixed. Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.
cheers

  • I sync my iPad. Now everything is messed up playlists and music are gone. Weird stuff showed up. And now I can't find the option to delete or make new playlists. 6.1.2 is my newest version!! NEED HELP!!

So I don't sync my iPad very often. My dad and I share a computer. And I decided to do it the other day. I am pretty sure I did it all correctly selecting music that I wanted not deleting playlists but it seems to be that they are gone. And music I didn't want has appeared. And now I don't have an option (with this new iOS 6.1.2) to make new playlists or edit music I don't want out.
I know I need help figuring those two things out 1 how to make a play list. There isn't a "add" button anymore in that screen I have a "you have no playlist"with a button underneath that says "go to iTunes Store" why I would need the store for that, I do not know.
Then in the songs, artists, albums sections where you used to be able to hit "edit" button to delete the music you have that you don't want. I don't seem to be able to do anything at all to get rid of the random music I have.
I need help. I know my iPad fairly well but I am not super savvy with it either.

Is there a "New" button at the top right of the Playlists section of Music?
There is no Edit button to delete music, swipe sideways on the song to reveal the delete button. Tap and hold on the artwork in Artists and albums to reveal the (X) button to delete. Or connect the iPad back up to iTunes on the computer and check your sync settings for music to ensure you are syncing the right content.

  • Connecting ipod  through itunes deletes my new playlists

Occasionally when I connect my ipod to my computer my new playlists, created through on the go, get deleted. This happens probably 2/3 times I connect my ipod to itunes. I have my music checked as manually managed so I don’t know why it’s messing why my lists. It is the most frustrating thing, as about half my playlists have been deleted. Itunes also likes to delete my playlists and make random new ones called ‘on the go’. It recently deleted my 6 new playlists of probably 200 tracks. Itunes, why are you such a piece of crap?
I’m not finding any other posts on this, and I don’t know what to do at all. Should I get another program to manage my ipod music? I never use itunes except for my ipod.
    ehhhhh???

You'll find instructions in this article "Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod" http://playlistmag.com/help/2005/01/2waystreet/
It explains the manual process and also links to some programs that can help

  • ITunes 11.0.4 playlists missing & cannot create new playlists

This morning all my playlists are no longer showing in the iTunes "PLAYLISTS" display.
I've tried going to backups (grabbed an old .itl file) but the playlists still do not appear.  Also pulled the "Previous iTunes Libraries" most recent .itl with no change.  There is no ".xml" file in either the recent backups (Time Machine) or "Previous iTunes Libraries" folders.
Figuring all is lost (and that'd be a shame cause there are a LOT of static and smart playlists to rebuld), I tried creating a new playlist.  "New Playlist" doesn't show, either.  Most revealing, perhaps, is "New Smart Playlist" shows a Library rule pull-down that exposes all my Playlists and Smart Playlists.
So the library has them all but apparently can't show them?
Yes, I'll submit a bug FWIW...  Perhaps someone else has noodled through this one before.

    Oh, that's tricky...
I've been running iTunes since day one and am not sure when this was added...
When looking at the sidebar, I saw this:
It was a little tricky taking this screen shot, cause the option is transient.   IF you hover on the right side of the sidebar on the PLAYLISTS line, the link "SHOW" magically appears for a couple seconds:
Might I kindly suggest to the UX folks on the iTunes team, that requiring a hover over a blank section of real estate on the screen to expose a control is not an optimal user experience.

  • How can I have both genius playlist and regular playlist on my new 160g ipod classic. The list of songs are there, but when I click playlist, I only get the genius playlists.

How can I have both genius playlists and regular playlists available on my new 160g classic ipod. I can see my entire song list, but no playlist other than the 3 genius playlist I just made.  Also how can I delete a genius playlist. Made the same playlist twice by mistake. Thanks.

This was not a simple task.  Got it handled.  Had to call Apple support. Apparently, the 160g only syncs the genius playlist.  You have to go in and "tell it" to sync the entire playlist as well as the genius playlists. There is also an option for only syscing certain songs. On itunes, there is two sections; one for the stuff that is synced on your ipod and another separate list for the stuff in your library!  This is exciting for me as I am not computer savvy to say the least.

  • I have one playlist on iphone4. how can i add new playlist without deleting old one. i do not have old playlist in itunes any more.

I have one playlist on iphone4. how can i add new playlist without deleting old one. i do not have old playlist in itunes any more. When i try to sync iphone with itunes it says that this action will remove my old playlist and all songs.

"it says that this action will remove my old playlist and all songs."
Are you connecting to a different iTunes library than you normally connect to?  That will erase the songs and playlists since the iPhone can't be connected to multiple libraries even if it is in manual sync mode.
If you no longer have access to the original library that your iPhone calls 'home', then the only way to save the playlist (and the songs on your iPhone) would be to use a 3rd party application to extract your iPhone contents to this new iTunes library you're trying to connect to.

  • IPod Won't Update with New Playlists and Audio Only

My iPod will not update new playlists that have been created or add any audio files from iTunes. Videos come over just fine. Powerbook 12" G4 with 10.4.4, iTunes 6.0.2. Latest iPod software, 0106, deleted the old iPod updates. Also, did a hard reset on the iPod.
Under my administrator test login, playlists and songs come over fine, but I can't seem to get it to work in my regular account. Any idea what do do without reformatting my hard drive and reloading software?

I also just started having this trouble on my 6 month old nano. I have it set to automatically update selected playlists only. I update the songs in those playlists in itunes, then I connect my ipod to my PC. The ipod and itunes say it is updating, but when done the same old songs are on the playlists in the ipod. Itunes does show the correct playlists with the update songs, they just don't seem be updating on the ipod, even though there seems to be a good connection and the ipod says it is updating when plugged into the PC. Any thoughts?

  • If I set up the ICloud, does that mean that all of my songs will be stored in Icloud? can I delete the library from my PC and only choose what playlists I want on PC?

If I set up the ICloud, does that mean that all of my songs will be stored in Icloud? can I delete the library from my PC and only choose what playlists I want on PC?

    Thank you
    I realize they are separate
I will do music match so that all of my songs are in ICloud
Do I need to keep the library on my PC or can I download whatever playlists I want stored on the device at that time.
Example: I have almost 1G of Christmas Music - because it is on my PC in my llibrary they sync to my ipod touch every time - i really want those stored somewhere else so they do not sync [or take space on my pc] with exception to one month per year.
I am thinking I can create space on my PC and Touch by storing songs on icloud that i do not listen to regularly; I am also thinking I can request songs by playlist to download to my touch or PC
Is that a clearer question or am I just confusing myself??

  • Deleted Playlist, but Songs Still Remain

I have a playlist of Christmas songs on my iPod Nano along with a general playlist of other songs. I want to be able to play ONLY the Christmas songs, but I want them to play on shuffle. When I select "shuffle songs" it randomly plays ALL songs, not just the Christmas songs. So I deleted the general playlist from the iPod, leaving only the Christmas playlist. Then I tried "shuffle songs" and it still plays some of the 800 other songs that are on the playlist I just deleted. The Christmas playlist is currently the only list showing on my iPod (containing 61 songs). However, if I go into the "songs" or "artists" menu, all the other 800+ songs are still there, even though I deleted their playlist.
How do I get rid of these other songs so I can play shuffled Christmas songs? Or, how do I just get the iPod to shuffle songs from one playlist, if possible?

If you want to shuffle songs in a playlist you go to settings and then on shuffle click the middle button once, so its says 'songs.' Then you can select the playlist and select the ong you want to start with. After that it will shuffle within the playlist.
    I hope this helps.

  • I have 2 computers with my itunes account on it and i synced my iphone to my laptop and it deleted one of my playlists. Only 1 computer has that playlist on it and the USB ports dont work. How do I get the playlist back?

i need help downloading a playlist without connecting my Iphone 4S to my computer. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????

I haven't tried this myself, but you could probably use Home Sharing to copy your playlist to your other computer.  First set up home sharing on both computers (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4620), then on the computer with the playlist go to iTunes>Preferences>Sharing and choose share selected playlists, checking the playlist that you are trying to recover.  Then on the computer without the playlist, create a new playlist with the same name, then drag and drop the songs from the other computer into the playlist you just created.

  • How do I permanently delete 'On the Go' playlists?

I don't ever use 'On the Go' playlists on either my 3G iPhone or 2G Nano.
How do I *get rid* of my empty 'On the Go' playlists for good - in each case, please?
(Have tried deleting them when the device is connected to iTunes; they reappear.)
    TIA!

The one playlist "On-The-Go" is built in to the iPod. There's nothing you can do to it in iTunes, as far as I know. Every time you sync your iPod, iTunes empties the On-The-Go playlist and copies the contents to a new playlist, On-The-Go 1 etc. Those new playlists are just regular playlists that you can do anything you want to: you can rename them, add or remove songs, or delete them entirely.
I always just delete these when I notice them. They don't hurt anything.
The only time On-The-Go 1 etc. will appear is if you've actually put something in On-The-Go on your iPod. I don't know of any way to turn off that behavior.

  • Ipod 5 wasn't updating new playlists.  Removed all music from iPod and ended up with 34 GB of OTHER.  How do I remove this without doing a full restore?

iPod 5 was not adding new playlists when synching (plenty of space remained in memory for it).  This happened around the time of the new update.  I removed all music from the iPod and when I went to resync the selected playlists, my OTHER portion of memory jumped up to 34GB and now there is not enough space on the iPod to put all my music back on.
I've checked the usage of all the apps and photos, etc, it is pretty clear this is because of the music portion only.
Is there anyway of removing this information?  Without doing a restore?  It is not jailbroken either.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
