Deleted podcasts appear insmart playlist 11.3

Since 11.3, when I delete a podcast, it disappears from My Podcasts but if I choose 'feed' in my podcasts I can see it again as undownloaded with the little cloud symbol. So far so good.. But it remains in my smart podcast playlist, even though I have set that up to show only podcasts that exist on the computer. And I can play it from that playlist straight away so I assume it's really on the computer somewhere. This is annoying as I sort the playlist into a play order for my old ipod then sync it. Good to go for the car without having to touch it again. I now have to inspect each episode carefully before I sync to have the ones I want at the top and the supposedly deleted ones at the bottom.

  • Why won't podcasts appear in playlists anymore?

I have a basic 80gb old school video iPod. I used to have a smart playlist that selected all my movie podcasts I subscribe to and had them in date release order. Now the iPod (now I've upgraded to iTunes 11) won't sync playlists with iPods. Even ordinary manual ones. Anyone have a work around - aside from downgrading iTunes?

  • Ghost podcasts appearing on smart playlist

When I create a smart playlist that should only have podcasts, a "ghost" podcasts appear then disappears when I am updating my podcasts subscriptions. I've tried downloading the podcast again and then deleting it, but it keeps coming back. I've also searched through my library, and these podcasts do no t exists. Please note that I am not using the Podcasts app.
Here is a screenshot of the issue

I tried that and it worked.  I already had the media kind as podcast and match only checked items set for the podcast.  Your post helped in regards to unchecking the podcasts.  I noticed that in the playlist that the podcasts that are checked that are actually not checked had the iCloud download symbol.  I deleted all that had the iCloud download symbol and that took care of it.
    Thanks for your help!!!

  • How to keep a podcast in a playlist, but delete from Podcast library?

If I move a podcast to a playlist I've created on a certain subject, and then delete it from the podcast section of the library, it disappears from the playlist, as well. How can I move podcasts to a playlist and keep them, and at the same time delete them from the podcast library list?
    Thanks!

Playlists are just links to songs, videos or podcasts that are in your iTunes library. If you delete something from the library it can't be in a playlist. You can have something in the library but not in a playlist but you can't have something in a playlist that isn't in the library.

  • Deleting podcasts on my iPod

I have a 4G iPod Nano with the latest iTunes software on a Mac laptop. Before the latest iTunes update, I'd plug in my iPod to my Mac and see two different folders: Podcasts and the playlist where I'd put the podcasts. After I finished listening to a podcast, I'd delete it from the "Podcast" folder and it would be gone from iPod flash drive. Once I downloaded the latest update, older podcasts that I had yet to listen to would disappear from the "Podcast" folder. I didn't think much of it as they still appeared in the playlist where I had originally put them and I merely deleted them from the playlist folder. However, as my flash drive's available space kept getting smaller even though I was deleting the podcasts from the playlist, I realized that they weren't actually being deleted from my iPod.
I'm guessing that I need all these old podcasts to show up in the "Podcasts" folder so I can permanently delete them but they continue to inexplicably disappear from the folder before I have the chance. Can anyone help me out? Thanks for reading...

For some incredibly bizarre reason ... shift-delete works!!!

  • Deleted podcasts

since itunes 11 was installed, I find that podcasts that I have played and deleted, are still displayed in any playlists that I originally had them in.  The only difference is, that they are tagged for downloading.
As I am constantly adding new podcasts to my playlist, and I often have 3 copies of the same podcast in the playlist, the appearance of the old episodes just clutters up the list.
It it extremely tedious, having to delete these items again.
I presume this is a bug in the latest Itunes version.  Any idea when Apple will fix this problem.

Select the iPod name in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, look on the Podcasts tab. It is probably set to +Sync *all unplayed*+. If you play the podcast, even for a few seconds in iTunes or on the iPod, it is no longer considered "unplayed." So the next time you sync the iPod, it will no longer appear on the iPod under Podcasts.
If you want the all podcasts to be on the iPod, change that setting to +Sync all+.
Note: The podcasts with the blue dot next to it in iTunes are the ones that are considered unplayed.

  • A deleted podcast is still somewhere in itunes?  can't find it?

I thought I had deleted a particular podcast but I noticed that this one kept syncing to my ipod and showed up on the apple tv. When I went to the folder through finder I found this podcast was still on my system although I saw it nowhere in itunes. I deleted the file manually.
Now, when I sync my ipod, I receive the message that this particular podcast could not be found to be synced. I've done a search by name through itunes and can't find any reference to this now deleted podcast or why it's attempting to sync it.
I've repaired permissions just for kicks. I've re-booted for kicks. Nothing helps.
    I'm stumped. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

more info...I have a smart playlist that syncs certain podcasts that I've put a star next to. I did find a reference to this podcast in the smart playlist which means it is noted with a star. But, when I go to the podcast directory, it is nowhere to be found. I can't delete the reference in the smart playlist b/c it's a smart playlist.

  • Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
    But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.
    Thanks.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

  • Cannot delete podcast on iPod

    Hello,
I need to add me into this AD, I cannot delete Podcast from my iPOD, using different computer and manually sync, deleted Podcast on my computer (all), but older Podcast still appear in my iPOD and even if I re-subscribe to the Podcast, the Podcast will not be visible in iTunes or even is able to be deleted. Please get a workaround done.
    KN

By accident (I have read the manual), and I have found a solution.
You've saved some Podcast on your iPod but these Podcast doen't appear in your iTunes Libary so you're not able to delete them from your iPod.
Just opoen the Folder Movies/Podcast on your iPOD
The Podcast will be shown on your iPod
Swipe with your finger from left to right or rigth to left over the podcast; you will see that your iPod will open the "Edit" menue were you're able to delete selected Podcast.
    Have fun.

  • Cannot delete podcasts from iPod

When I dowload podcasts to my ipod I put them in a playlist. They also get saved to the hard drive.
But with this new version of iTunes (7) the podcasts saved on the hard drive no longer show in the library. So, if I delete them from the playlist, they are still on the hard drive eating up memory.
I cannot figure out how to get them to show in the library. It's like they don't exist except I can see them on the iPod after I disconnect from the pc.
    Help.
    Thanks ahead of time.

When I click on the Podcast "playlist" below "My Device", all the podcasts on my list are greyed out & don't allow me to manually delete them.
I've programmed my file to delete all "played" items but after connecting my iPod to the iTunes site on my PC, they remain on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Deleted podcasts return when syncing with itunes

My podcasts sync perfectly from itunes to my ipad & iphone.  However, when i listen to an individual podcast or delete the entire subscription from either my ipad or iphone i have aproblem.  They are deleted from my device but when i next sync with my itunes on my pc, all the deleted podcasts or subscriptions are put back on my device.  I want them to be deleted from my Itunes not put back on my device.  Obviously i dont want them any more.  When I delete an app from my device, it is deleted from my itunes library for that device. I know it is still in itunes if i need it but itunes doesnt keep putting it back on my device.  How can I get podcasts to either act the same way as the apps do, or get itunes to actually delete the podcasts i have deleted from my device??

Are you using the "Podcasts" app on your device?  If so, then that app manages all your podcasts locally on your device.
If you aren't using the Podcasts app on your device, then your podcasts will be managed by iTunes, and updates downloaded to your device whenever your sync it with iTunes.  Deleting an episide on your device will temporarily get you space back on your device, which might be helpful temporarily in case you need the space for something.  The next time you sync, iTunes will repopulate any episides that are missing from your device, unless you've marked them as played already, or otherwise changed something in iTunes to prevent them from copying back to your device again (delete them, take them out of whatever smart playlist you are using to send podcasts to your device, etc.).

  • With the new version of ITune, I do not know how to add a podcast to a playlist.  The "add to playlist" which was easily found on older versions is not available.  Your help will be appreciated.

I have difficulties with the new version of ITune, which I never experienced in the older versions.
    1.  I do not know how to transfer a new radio podcast to a playlist.  The previous option "show in playlist" does not appear.
    2.  I do not know how to download an older podcast from the list of available ones offered for download.  The latest one only is downloading, none other, not even the most recent but one.
Your help will be greatly appreciated in these difficulties.
    I thank you in anticipation.

  • Old deleted Podcasts still being listed?

    Hi,
I have a pretty annoying issue with deleted podcasts: I usually have a save and sound way of getting rid of old podcasts: After they are being played, they get deleted automatically with the next refresh (standard settings). However, I have about four podcast episodes that are a few months old that keep showing up on my Apple TV3 (under Computer -> Podcasts), but not in my regular Podcasts view on iTunes on my Mac.
Now when I create a smart playlist with all my podcasts, these old deleted episodes show up there, but I obviously cannot delete them from iTunes and I also can't delete them manually, since they don't exist anymore.
Now I've read before, that one potential option is to start a new library, but having a really big library, I am afraid, this may be a very long and messy process. Is there any other way?

Just got my BlackBerry Pearl Flip this month and pretty new to the device.  I recently just noticed that even though my mp3 files has been deleted on my media card, it is still being listed in my BlackBerry.  Then when I try to do a delete of the song from the BlackBerry itself, it just gives me "File System error".  This song list info must be somehow cached in the device memory.  Is there anyway to tell the BlackBerry to clear the info completely and re-index the song list?
The "cache" memory still has those in the memory. With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    Look again now.

  • Deleted tracks on Iphone are not deleted from the itunes playlist

When I delete some tracks on iphone, I would like them to be deleted from the itunes playlist as well when syncing.
    how can i do it?
    thanks

I was just playing around with my YahooMail account too ...and it's a little different than the normal client/server sorta thing I've been used to ...
I was using my PC to draft a new Yahoo email, then saw it on my iPhone Email, in the Drafts ... edit the PC version, update iPhone, the edit appears.
The iphone doesn't download a copy of your messages, it interfaces directly with the server. If you do anything on either side (PC and/or iPhone) it affects your Yahoo Inbox.

  • Why can't I copy (not just make an alias) podcasts to other playlists?

I want to make list/s of important podcasts to keep apart from the automatically updating/deleting new podcasts, and I might also want to make Smart Playlists of podcasts. Why can't I do this? When I copy a podcast into another playlist, it goes away as soon as the original is deleted.

<<When I copy a podcast into another playlist, it goes away as soon as the original is deleted>>
The files are on your HD once. Every file is in the Library. What's in the Playlist is a reference or pointer to the file in the Libary. If the file is deleted from the Library then it's not available to the playlist. If this makes no sense to you. consider the waste of disk space if a file was duplicated everytime it was added to a playlist.
