Deleted private data keychain passwords, 10.6.8, how to restore?

I was trying to delete a couple and somehow deleted all of them so all my passwords and certs are gone. I've searched for a restore option, but only found options for newer versions or options that don't seem to work. Can someone walk me through how to restore my private data encrypted passwords on my Macbook Pro? Thanks

This issue has been solved.  Someone on another group advised be to do the following:
1.  *Copy* the relevant user from the TM backup to the laptop.
2.  Use a slightly older version of the user.
When I did this, I was able to recover almost everything.

  • Flash player 11.3.300.265 resets privacy settings after deleting private data in Opera

    hello,
flash player 11.3.300.265 and Opera 12.00.1467 x64, Windows 7 here.
I noticed that when I delete private data in Opera, with "delete plug-in data" checked,
all the privacy settings in flash control panel reset to default state of "allow".
Is this a bug or feature? I really don't think it was planned to be this way..
Because in doing so (deleting private data), the user expects to (hopefully) feel less exposed, than vice versa, which is the case when flash player allows everything without any notification.
If it's not intended, which fault is this, Adobe or Opera?

  • I wish there will be a choice to delete private data whenever i choose quit. so i don't have to go into setting just to delete private data. thanks

i wish when i press quit there will be a choice whether i want to delete all the private data.it will be just like the desktop version where i can browse in private and close the browser without leaving any trace.

iamjayakumars this is a Firefox for Android question. You gave a desktop answer. The OP is correct in that there is no way to clear browser history on shutdown at this time on FxA.
Current nightly builds have private browsing tabs. These builds are for testing at this time. They may leak data or fail to clean data from the session. They are available at http://nightly.mozilla.org

  • My keychain password is not working - how do I change it?

All of a sudden, I started getting messages saying I needed to input the keychain password. I tried resetting my user password - didn't help. I tried deleting the local keychain, but it is grayed out and won't let me. I cannot access my email as it repeatedly asks for my passwords for the email accounts, yet it does nothing when I type it in other than ask for it again.

Click here and perform a soft reset.

No matter how many times I provide my Keychain Password, the pop-up window keeps coming back.  Seriously annoying...I'd rather not use Keychain.  Any way to just turn this crap off?

  • Deleting Private Data

    Hi!
I am selling my computer through Craigs List and need to figure out how to clear all my personal data. I do not have the OS Disc on me. Is there a program I can get or an easy way to do this?

You can clone your internal volume bootably to an external drive. Then, startup to the external and use Disk Utility to erase your internal, including the possibility of erasing very securely, by, for example, writing zeros to your internal. There is no legal requirement that you include any disks with your machine when selling it, but, as V.K. indicates, you should let the buyer know if you are not including them. Also, your machine should be priced accordingly. Given that one can acquire a full install $29 Snow disk, with no EULA restrictions on its use existing, then subtracting $29 should be a sufficient reduction from the perspective of the OS. If you are not including any disks, then your machine should be erased and sold sans any software.

  • I deleted my Messages app, and don't know how to restore it.

    Hi,
I was having trouble getting my Messages app to open, and so used AppCleaner to delete it, thinking I could just re-download it. I can't find a way to re-download it, so I'm currently stuck without the app. Any suggestions to get it back? I'm running the latest version of Mountain Lion.
    Thanks.

Boot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
    Restore from TM backup
    Reinstall Mac OS X
    Get help online
    Disk Utility
Choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your own data or settings.

  • Deleted "all my files" from CoreServices... how to restore?

This feature wasn't working and was displaying ghost files of things I deleted. This clogged the screen up so I couldnt get to the files I was looking for. So I went into the Finder's core service folder and deleted it.
Now I can't figure out how to put it back.
    Any help?

Restart, holding down the CMD+R keys, and restore the OS. Details in Recovery/ and About Lion Recovery.

  • Mail Keeps Asking For Keychain Password - Possible Solution

    Hi
I am a Mac newbie and all was going well until I played around with the Keychain settings and then, despite putting everything on Keychain back to how it was, I kept getting requests from Mail to enter my password.
Having tried every other solution offered by the various help sites and web forums (this problem seems quite common), I finally went for the deleting the mail account solution that (fingers crossed) has now worked for over a day, so I am posting it here in case it is useful to someone else:
    -     First I deleted the two keychain password references to Mail that were in the Keychain Access list (POP and SMTP) and made sure Keychain settings       were all back to how they were originally.
    -     Then I archived all my mail and mail folders - was easy to do and then reload again later.
    -     Then I deleted my email account; rebooted; went back into mail and went through the process of setting up my account again.
    -     Reloaded my mail messages and folders and tidied things up to how they were.
    -     Let keychain set up the mail passwords again by sending and receiving a test message to myself.
Hey presto!  Everything now appears back to how it was, without those annoying requests for passwords for Mail.
I am pretty sure this problem arose due to me changing the keychain settings, even though I put everything back to how it was (or at least I think I did!) it's almost as though there is a bug that makes Mail think the settings have not been changed back to "normal" again.
Hope this help's someone (took me about half a day to fix this as all sorts of solutions are offered by the help sites and forums, but none fixed the problem until I went through the procedure above).

    Still, that was quite funny....!
Erm, I'm still having this problem along with several others that have gone unanswered on here about why Mac Mail decides to keep all my trash, junk, sent, but clears out the INBOX every 5 or 7 days. No server problems, No settings changed... For a computer I bought to make my life easier, its sure making me work exceedingly hard for it. I'm this close to going back to Windows. DON'T LET ME DO IT!!!!!!!!! Helllllp!!!!

I am a new Mc Bok Pro user and had been using my mac since Sept, 2012 with no problem. Just recently however, I have been experiencing a Keychain access problem. Specifically, whenever I open the mac, it asks for my keychain password... Can I restore my mac to its condition before Jan. 18, 2014? What should I do?
    Thanks everyone!

  • Hi ,I barely got this from USPS ,and it's used ibook G4 ,I don't know a password from there username I couldn't even use it because it already used ?do you how to restore the whole system for iBook G4 ,without the password

Hi ?okay barley got this from USPS but it's in used ,somebody already own this ibook G4 ,I only use it for 1 min on this OS X and then when I try to go any file I have to  type in a password ,but I don't know the password ?do you how to restore everything and restart everything ,without the password?

The seller should have included a bootable OS X system DVD that would work in that computer; preferrably one that matches the OS X installed in the computer when you got it. Have you contacted the seller?
If you can find the serial number and any other model identifier of the iBook portable, you could probably get a Replacement OS X Tiger 10.4 system DVD from Apple for about $20; a white-label disc that should work in an old iBook G4. This should not be an original install-restore disc specific to the iBook, but there may be one available. (Originals shipped with a Mac were gray color and say the computer name, and those discs have a part number related to the Mac models build year, etc they shipped with.) A 'replacement' white disc should work with more than one specific series of Mac that could support the OS X.
As these computers get older and farther away from the date of manufacture, replacement discs or copies of original software kits, no longer made, are harder to come by. However the white label 'replacement' from AppleCare, may be the ticket, if you can order one and if they still have them. And, if it works.
With a system disc, you can erase and install (or secure erase, reformat, & install, then update) a system on the hard disk drive. By doing the secure erase, the Disk Utility will write a pass of zeros over the old content and that can help clear up old issues in a questionable used computer's hard disk drive, but you'd need an OS X install disc. You can call AppleCare or Apple Sales Support (not the main store or main online pages, its not a regular item) and if you are lucky, you may talk to someone who knows these exist. A few ASC discussion threads have mentioned these, and people who bought them posted pictures of the actual discs.
There are some ways to attempt to reset an admin password, usually with the install disc for OS X; but another way using Single-user mode or command-line Terminal, to go into unix and change settings at a level beneath the graphic user interface.

•With an OS X disc, how to reset lost passwords:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1274
You'll have to search and reword for other online ideas.
If you bought the iBook from an auction, suggest they
should include the disc, since it implies a license to
have the system software installed. It is the proof.
The replacement OS X install disc for Tiger or Leopard
(depending on the computer, what it may use best) are
ideas, so ask AppleCare about them. If you can, get
both, so you may have one that does the job.
PS: If someone set an Open Firmware password, that
is another matter to access the locked computer. At a
level of security higher than Admin, near impossible.
Almost as bad as encrypting the hard drive.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How to restore data files from a purchased app that isn't working

I recently had to reset my iPad after an ios7 problem with hyperlinks.  The reset fixed the hyperlink problem but now I can't open excel or word files created in a purchased application, productivity suite.  When I click on the file, it starts to open then switches back to the app icon.  Tried deleting and reinstalling the app and now all the files are gone from my iPad.  I backed up my iPad to my desktop before deleting the app but can't figure out how to restore just the files I need.

You should be able to mount the partition once you've loaded up the live CD. Just figure out which one it is by using
    fdisk -l
then mount it to /mnt or wherever you want it.
As for moving/saving them, I'm not entirely sure how to get them onto an external server. You might have to mount another partition in order to install any apps that you need to connect to an external server, but wait for someone who really knows to answer before you try it. If you're only talking about 4 or 5 MB, I would just mount a USB stick and dump them on there.
