Deleted reminders list, lost calendars

Yesterday I was looking at my Reminders List on my iPhone when I saw 2 lists that weren't there before. They were 2 empty lists called "Home" and "Work". Since I didn't need them I deleted them and was prompted that they would be deleted from iCloud, then I accepted.
Later in the day when I was checking my calendar, I noticed that two of my iCloud calendars called "Home" and "Work" were now missing from my calendars list. I checked both the calendar on my Mac and on iCloud.com and found that they were missing there too.
Today I went to the Apple Store and spoke with a Genius who basically told me that they were permanently gone. He checked when I last did a backup on iTunes and saw one that was from a week ago. We tried a factory reset on my iPhone and a full restore from that backup, but it failed to bring the calendars back.
Has anyone experienced this and been able to bring those calendars back? I think it's crazy that deleting a reminders list from the Reminders app can cause calendars to be deleted along with it. Any help on this would be appreciated! I would love to get those calendars back since they have a few years old events plus many more future ones.

You would have to have a backup of your calendars to restore them.  If you had a Mac and were using Time Machine, for example, you could recover them from your Time Machine backup.  Otherwise I'm afraid they're gone.
I can't explain how your calendars were deleted by deleting a reminders list though.

  • Deleting Reminders List has Deleted Calendar

Found a new list in Reminders. Never set up by me or used before.
    Deleted list.
This also deleted calendar in iCloud with same name. Which has been used for years.
Very frustrating. When will Apple fix these bugs. iCloud is no better than MobileMe.
Is there a way to reinstate the original iCal calendar?

Here's a hack to get what you want and keep it simple:
Create two shared calendars (or not shared if you aren't sharing this "Reminder" list) in Calendar. This eliminates the need for having two apps as it's all done in Calendar.
I suggest calling one of the new Calendars "Not Calendared" (I know "Calendared" isn't a word, too bad, it fits here and I'm using it) and the other "Completed" (or use whatever two names you please).
Create "Reminders" in the "Not Calendared" Calendar. Check and uncheck (in the calendar list) to view, and then hide the "Reminders" to keep them from cluttering the regular calendar view. You can see them at any time as they won't be viewed most of the time and can even easily move them to a regular calendar as a calendared event if you want to see them "ongoingly" (see Calendared). Once a "Reminder" is moved to a regular calendar is not longer a "Reminder" but then becomes a Calendar event. It really is just a matter of what you want to see in your "Calendar" display vs your "Reminder" display. It just words and conventions and you are free to make up words and conventions however you choose. Ah, the power and ease of freedom!
Yes you lose the geofencing of the Reminder App and if that is really useful then for now bite the bullet and put geofenced items in the Reminder App and have TWO places to keep track of stuff. Hopefully Yosmite Sam will come to the rescue in a few months and restore some Apple elegance to this situation.
When you complete a "Reminder" move it from the "Not Calendared" Calendar to the "Completed" Calendar and leave the "Completed" unchecked unless you want to view your completed items which are always available in the "Competed" calendar as it is currently in the Completed section of the Reminder app.
    Enjoy!

  • Where can I find deleted reminders lists?  The stupid phone has erase them 3 times out of the blue, anybody else having this problem?

In the last year I have had an Iphone 4S and the new Reminder app that comes with it.  Three times this phone has just erased Reminders lists I had created.  I thought it was due to being empty or reminders but this week 4 out of five lists disappeared from one moment to the next.  I had entered a couple of reminder in the morning.  When I came back to my office in PM and open the reminder app:  4 lists gone!!  some of them with 3-4 items in them!!
My other phone a 3GS has deleted some of my "NOTES" in the notes app in the same fashion.  I lost very important phone numbers and lists of passwords from one day to the next and Syncing didn't help that or the Reminder problem.  It looks like a repeating problem in different generations.  I never had these problems in my old Treo and it was not that SMART!!

  • Can't delete reminders list

I’m trying to delete a reminders list from the ios7 but every time I delete it, it just pops back up again. I’ve deleted the calendar that coincided with it and I’ve deleted all the actual reminders but I just can’t delete the actual list. It is not an iCloud list or a third party list.
Help! Anyone know what I can do??

Try it again. Seems like Apple fixed something under the hood on iCloud and deleting a reminders list works now.

  • Deleted Reminders list does not stay deleted, keeps reappearing

I swipe-delete it, it disappears for a moment, there's a moment of network activity, and then it reappears, as if it's being retrieved from iCloud, when I really want it gone from both places. It's not my default Reminders list either. I've submitted this to Feedback.

    Hi,
Please make sure the source list of the lookup column and the list which consumes the content from the lookup column exists on the site collection.
In addition, to correct this problem the following steps should be applied:
    Delete the affected Workflow association
Go to "Central Administration" - "Application Management"
Select the affected web application and choose "General Settings" - "Resource Throttling"
Increase the value configured as "List View Lookup Threshold"
Perform an iisreset to ensure that all in memory instances of the web application settings are gone
Add the Workflow association back to the list

  • Deleted reminders list! PLEASE HELP!

I decided to start using iCloud and Outlook instead of Hotmail for my calendar and reminders.  I managed to set everything up using Outlook, I copied all the hotmail calendar entries to the iCloud calendar.  The only thing left was my to-do list in the iPhone reminders app.  My reminders were apparently being saved to my Hotmail calendar according to the iPhone settings. When I used the iCloud control panel to sync calendar and tasks to Outlook, I assumed the Reminders on my phone would sync to Outlook. All my calendar data was there as I had copied everything over to iCloud's calendar within Outlook.  When I deleted my Hotmail calendar, it was deleted from my phone and all the Reminders attached were gone! My calendar entries are all still there, by in the Reminders app all the reminders in the list, including the completed ones, had all disappeared! None of these reminders had alerts on them, it was just a simple to-do list.  Is there any way I can retrieve my reminders??

I have a similar problem though I've inadvertently deleted my Calendar group for Chronicle app from the Reminders.  It says that this cannot be undone, but there must be a way to retrieve the data, help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I try to follow the instructions to share a reminders list and I cant see my reminder list in my calendar on icloud. Everything is checked, I see the reminders on all my devices and on my icloud account, but they don't appear in the calendar on icloud. I tried it on my wife's macbook running Lion and hers doesn't show up either, so we must have something configured wrong... please help

With the default Android app you need to select which folders to sync in the account settings.
Are you sure about that. I have just set up an IMAP account on the Android mail app and all the folders on the email account showed up without any selection being made by me and there is no settings that I can see to select which folders to sync.
Absolutely, if you click on the account > settings >Sync send and receive > folder to sync, a list of folders is presented with tick boxes. This is on the default mail app on an HTC One.

  • Delete shared reminders list

I have 3 reminders lists: 2 are private to me, 1 is shared with my wife.
I cannot stop sharing the shared list with my wife.
I cannot delete the shared list from my MacBook, iPad or iPhone.
I've been through Apple's info regarding how to delete and at no point do I get options to remove her from the share list, nor options to delete the list.
    I can delete private lists.
Curious if anyone else has had problems and found a resolution.
    Thanks - Jon

  • Shared reminders list not deleting

I can't seem to delete a shared reminders list.  When I right click the list the "delete" button is greyed out.  I've tried all of the delete options in the help section.

I created a new list just now, and shared it. However, when I added something to the list, the person I shared it with still got an email. Even though when creating a list there is not an option to receive emails when the list is updated, neither is there an option to not receive emails, and the default seems to be "receive emails". This is so very frustrating. I did send a note to Apple. I don't see how this can be such a difficult thing for them to fix. Hoping for a remedy with the next update.

I'm trying to delete a list on my new iPhone 6. Apple instructions say tap edit then delete but no delete is showing. What am I missing? I never was any good at treasure hunts.

Delete List should appear on the bottom.
If it is a Shared list it cannot be deleted, but you can stop sharing it by going to Settings > iCloud > Family, tapping the family member then Remove...

  • Cannot rename Reminders List in iCal for Exchange Task List

I figured out that Exchange Tasks show up in OS X Lion as a Reminder List in iCal.  When I create a new Reminders List in iCal using File > New Reminder List > Exchange, it creates a new list with the name Untitled in the Reminders pane of iCal.  I can then rename the new (Untitled) list that I created by selecting the corresponding Reminders List from the Reminders drop-down and double-clicking over the Untitled name to rename it.  It seems that iCal successfully renames the Reminder List, but once it syncronizes with the Exchange Server, the Reminder List that I just renamed changes back to Untitled. Has anyone else experienced this issue and/or found a solution?  I don't always have the ability to log into Windows and would like to have the functionality to manage my Reminders Lists from my Mac.

    This worked for me:
The Problem: I also had the problem where I couldn't create a Reminder List having the same title as a Calendar List.  At one point I think I had the title of "Work" as both a Reminder and Calendar List, then when I deleted it from the Reminder List, it wouldn't allow me to create it again, and would go to Untitled.
The Solution (try at your own risk!):
    (1) Backup the Calendar that has the same name.  Select the Calendar by clicking the Calendar button in the top left and click on the calendar.  Go File menu -> Export -> Export... .   It should show your calendar name with ".ics" at the end, save this somewhere.
    (2) Delete the Calendar: Click the Calendar button in the top left and right-click on the calendar, choose delete.
    (3) Create the new Reminder list with the name that you want.  It should now allow you to.
    (4) Import the calendar you backed up in step 1.  Go File menu -> Import -> Import... and choose the .ics file you backed up. I've done this last step in the past but not this time around since I actually didn't care for the calendar to come back, so I don't remember the exact process after here.  I think it either gives you an opportunity to merge the events of the ics file into an existing calendar, or you can create a new calendar for the importing events.  If it doesn't give you this second choice, then first create a calendar with the name you want, select it, and start the import process over again.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to Share Reminders Lists

    Hi,
I have a quick question regarding the sharing of Reminders lists. The biggest part is I can't figure out how to do it. Though I've found many tutorials that say that there should be a section of the Calendar app on iCloud that shows lists in your Reminders app I don't see anything in the Calendar app that shows my lists.
When I log into iCloud online I see there's two apps, one for Calendars and one for Reminders. Though I see the 'share' button for calendars in the Calendars app I don't see any 'share' button in the Reminders app. And because the Reminders lists aren't being shown in the Calendar app I can't share from there either. I've checked on two different computers (a PC at work and my Mac at home OS8) as well as on my iPad and it's the same across the board.
Hopefully this is enough information. Seems like a simple question but I guess it has a more complex answer.
As an example. I'd like to create a grocery list and then send an invite to my wife's iPhone so she can share and edit that same list. She has her own iCloud account.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Adam

Apparently the only place where this function is available as of today is Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Provide feedback to Apple that this function needs to be returned to icloud.com, or at a minimum added to iOS 6.
