  • Deleted Safari- need to reinstall

Running OS X 10.4.11 and neither Safari update 2.0.1 nor 1.3.1 will install for me.
When I go through the Installer, I get the message that "This software requires MAC OS X 10.3.9."
When I go through the installer for 2.0.1, I get the following message: "This software requires Mac OS X 10.4.2."
I don't get it. Help. Thanks.

Hi Starman, Thanks. Sorry about addressing my response intended for wmoselle to you:-)) I'm OLD.
I don't completely understand "corrupted" Safari 3, although from what I've been reading, the corruption may be occuring in Software Update's handling of an [otherwise healthy?] 10.4.11/3.0.4. download. And, I did indeed use Software Update for both my 10.4.11 and also for my Security Update. I've since installed the Security Update v1.1, (also via Software Update) but not until after Safari 3 was deleted from my machine.
I now have both 2.0.1 and 2.0.4 on my harddrive; they both run, but I haven't tried opening them simultaneously and I probably won't, cause I don't know enough about possibilities. From what I've read, the 2.0.4. is probably running with its own self-contained Frameworks, while the 2.0.1 is running on the Frameworks of 10.4.11, but none of this is subject that I have personal experience with. When I tried examining the similarities/differences between the two Frameworks folders, it made my head spin (I don't have the time).
I don't know how long before I decide to try re-installing 3; I'd kinda like Apple to have some time to address the combinations of problems that have been caused for different users. Although my plug-ins folder is fairly simple (24 files), I don't understand what any of them do, and which may have been the offending plug-ins with Safari 3. I can't even remember if I was having problems playing videos (or not); it may be that NONE of my plug-ins were problematic. One of the best clues may lie in the observation that browser PDFs were occasionally missing their vertical scrollbar; that makes me think Adobe plug-in? And, if Adobe plug-ins are imperfect with 3, then surely lesser company's plug-ins are likely to be problematic too. I'm imagining a very tedious process to identify the purpose of each plug-in, its manufacturer, and going to the web to retrieve an update.
Have a Merry Xmas, thanks, Harvey

  • I deleted safari how can i get it back and i have OS X 10.9.4

i deleted with appzaper  so its deleted from my mac non a dust from it.

Since it's part of Mac OS X you have to reinstall the OS. Boot up the computer while holding the Command and R keys, and in the main menu of Recovery, choose Reinstall OS X.
You could also download the Mavericks installer from the App Store.

  • Help! Accidentally deleted QuickOffice, how to reinstall?

    Hi All,
So I updated my QuickOffice yesterday to get the patch for document editing. For some reason the app wouldn't start afterwards and so I deleted it from the home page thinking that I could just download it again from the HP App catalog. It isn't listed in the catalog and I can't use software manager or anything else to install it again. I searched on google and this forum to find a solution, but unfortunately, it seems that I might be the only one with this issue. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Is it possible to just reformat my touchpad back to its original content?
    Thanks,
    anulicious

Yes, it worked perfectly.  I suspect that Quickoffice and Adobe Reader must not have been deleted from the device, even though they were inaccessible to me.
Background:  The problem started when I followed the routine to update Quickoffice and Adobe Reader, by deleting them from the applications menu.  The instructions seemed to say that it was necessary to delete Quickoffice and Adobe Reader prior to updating them.  But after deleting them, I was unable to find a way to update them.  That's why I sought assistance from Quickoffice.  (I was reluctant to try such an extreme measure as using the doctor.)  I don't think the Quickoffice reset process re-downloaded the software.  I didn't see any indication of downloading taking place.  That's why I conclude that Quickoffice and Adobe Reader must have remained somewhere inaccessible (to me) on the Touchpad.
By the way, this is a great forum.  Thanks.

  • I have a 2009 Macbook and I accidentally deleted safari. How do I reinstal it?

I have a 2009 macbook and I accidentally deleted Safari. How do I reinstal it?

If it's in a backup, restore it from there.
If not and the computer's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, install it from the Mac OS X install DVD, using Pacifist if needed, and then run the combo updater for that version as well as all applicable Safari and security updates.
If not and the computer's running Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down and reinstall the OS.

    Hi Davisca76,
You can either download and reapply the 10.4.6 Combo Update, or extract just the application from said package using Pacifist. Hope that helps.

It would appear that your system is somewhat mangled, and it is time for some general 'servicing'.
    Start here:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.
    Background information here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452?viewlocale=en_US
    and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
    More useful reading here:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417?viewlocale=en_US
For a full description of how to resolve Disk, Permission and Cache Corruption, you should read this FAQ from the X Lab:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/repairprocess.html
Reboot your Mac and then perform a Safe Boot:
Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Now try downloading and installing again.

I accidently deleted Safari and now I can't reinstall because it keeps telling me there is a newer version on my computer.  The issue is my system does not support the newer version.  Does anyone know how I can get around this?

Apple wanted to charge me 50 bucks jsut to talk to someone!
I believe you may be referring to the $49 ASL agreement at AppleCare? That is only when/if you are out of AppleCare Protection.
Can you get to an AppleStore Genius Bar?
They may be able to fix this for you. No charge.
I highly doubt that. There is a $70 charge for troubleshooing software issues, EVEN IF there is AppleCare Warranty on the hardware.
However, since there is no charge for an appointment at a Bar, go make one, and see what options they give you. Let us know how it goes.

Please advise how can i go about reinstalling safari?

An alternative is to install ana application called pacifist which has a free trial
It can allow you to install small portions of the os
To use Pacifist, the OP will need to download the OSX, anyway, to access the .dmg installer. If that is the case, then the safest and most reliable course of action is to just reinstall the entire system, considering the complexity of Safari and it's integration with so many other parts of the OSX.

  • How do I delete the pages app & reinstall?

How do I delete the Pages App & reinstall?

    Hello miriverlady,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you would like to learn how to uninstall an application, then re-install it. Let’s begin!
To uninstall an application, including the Pages app:
OS X Yosemite: Install, update, and uninstall apps
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18752
    Uninstall apps
You can uninstall apps you got from the Mac App Store, from other websites, or from discs. You can’t uninstall apps that are part of OS X, such as Safari and Mail.
Apps downloaded from the Mac App Store: Click the Launchpad icon in the Dock, hold down an app’s icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click an app’s delete button. If you later want the app, you can reinstall it from the Mac App Store.
To reinstall an application you previously purchased or downloaded, simply navigate to the Mac App Store and visit the Purchases tab:
Mac App Store: Finding your purchased apps - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202161
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
