Deleted Safari Icon by mistake
While deleting some apps that I was not using, I deleted the Safari Icon by mistake. How do I get this back on my Iphone? I know people have said its not possible, but I did do it,its gone.
Safari can not be deleted from the iPhone. There are two possibilities
1. You moved it to another space. Use your finger and swipe! that should change the space. Sometimes IconServices or other background services may cause the icon not to appear so restart the phone before you restore!
2. You are an advance user and jailbroke your iPhone and using 3rd party un official tools, you were able to delete Safari. If this is the case then you'll need to speak to people in that community for support on how to get Safari back. If you did Jailbreak your phone then it is possible that a simple restore will not be able to fix your problem because a restore may end up bricking your device.

Please help safari icon got deleted from my applications!!!
Hi my safari icon got deleted from my applications! do u no how i can get it back without putting the osx disk back in the computer. thanks
Hi oliver, Welcome to Apple's Users Help Users Forums.
Unless you moved it into of the trash and emptied the trash, it's around somewhere. In the trash???
Did you take it out of the applications folder or off the dock?
If the dock, it is just an alias and Safari is still in the apps folder.
Do a search w spotlight or command -f and see if you can find it.
You can reinstall Safari from the install disc.
Safari is not included in "Install Bundled Software Only." That's the one that shows near the top of the page. :~(
Further down is "Optional Installs!" which will allow you to install Safari only. It's in applications.
An alternate is to download Pacifist and extract it w Pacifist from the install disc. -
I can see the Safari icon on my iPhone screen, but the program doesn't run. I have checked the settings and it is on and not restricted. It seems that the application has simply stopped running. The little "searching" icon just spins and spins. Can I delete the application and reinstall it?
You can't delete it. you will need to do a restore.

I have a iPhone 4 8GB. I have three greyed out safari icons that doesn't say safari but a web link. It's like a bookmark to your homepage but not in your homepage. I noticed it when I deleted all my web pages and on that one web page where it says "search or type in a address" right below it where it's just all white, there's three grey looking safari icons with each one with a different web site that's attached to it. When I tap on it it goes to a specific website. For ex one if them says www.longchamp.com, the other macys.com. There's no way to delete it. The wired thing is each one in color it like three shades of grey . Light, med and darker grey icons. When I hold down the icon you can move it around but can't delete, nothing just nothing. It's been there for the longest time I can remember. Do you know what this is? I took a pic of it. I don't know how to attach it to this discussion. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
I seem to have fixed it by putting <div class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

I have three Safari icons. Two in the dock and one on the desktop. How do I eliminate them?
One from the dock and the one on the desktop.nezzer wrote:
the desktop item will not delete or "move to trash"
In Finder, select the item. Choose File > Get Info (or do ⌘I). Look under General > Kind. Does it read "Alias" or does it read "Application (Intel)"?
If the latter, then it is likely that you're not allowed to delete because it's actually open. Quit Safari. Check if there is an item called Safari in your </Applications> folder. (In Finder, you can get directly to the Applications folder using ⇧⌘A -- that's Shift-Command-A.) Check if it's an application. If it is, then you have an unneeded copy of Safari. You can delete the one on your Desktop. If there isn't, them move the one on the Desktop to the Applications folder -- that's where it belongs.

How do I repair Safari 4.0.3, 4.0.4 or 4.0.5 after installing Kaspersky AV? I WAS running 4 or 5..don't recall..
After installing Kaspersky, Safari would crash immediately. I deleted all versions of Safari on my iMac, downloaded and tried to install Safari again.. I kept getting a message saying I needed OSX 10.0 or higher! I'm on a iMac OS X 10.6.7!
I was able to copy Safari 4.0.3 from my disc from when I purchased the computer, but it won't allow me to update at all to a higher version, stating the same reason!
How do I fix this?HI,
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)
Try running Safari in 32-bit mode.
Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. *Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.*

The FamilyControls may be a Microsoft issue which could be why you are having problems with PowerPoint. You may need to update or upgrade your PowerPoint 2008 software to be compatible with 10.6.3. Check the Microsoft site.

My Safari Icon ( Button) is missing on my iMac after I downloaded a update. How can I get the icon (Button Safari) back on my desktop and connecting again to the Internet ?...
Thanks for the helpOften when people think they've deleted an application, what's really happened is that they deleted its icon from the Dock. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Applications
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. If the application is in that folder, drag it to the Dock (not to the Desktop or anywhere else.) The other Dock icons will move out of the way to make a place for it. -
Question Mark where Safari icon should be
I have a new macbook and love it so far, the only problem I've come across is a big one though, I have 3 accounts on my computer, all except for one of them (my account) the safari icon is now a big question mark (indicating that the file is corrupt I assume?) First I tried deleting one of the accounts and making a new one in it's place... same problem. Then I trashed the safari/question mark icon and tried to create a new one but could not find it in the finder (I searched safari, and safari.app).. Since safari is still working fine on my account (just not the others) I know it must be in there some where, but where?
Thank you so much, I hope someone can help me resolve this problem!!I cannot find it in the applications folder on those accounts, just on the main account
Safari is supposed to be in Macintosh HD --> Applications
If Safari is not in that folder, move it there.
It should not be in Users --> yourusername -->Applications -
I have purchased a new iMac, with Safari 5.0.5, but it won't retain bookmarks, I thought I can download a new Safari from Apple. So I deleted Safari from the application folder.
Then I tried to download Safari from Firefox but after finish download, what I got was a dmg file, with a pkg icon (an opened box) and it can't be installed. Same with Google Chrome.
My question is: how can I download Safari? And will it retain bookmarks?Reinstall Safari from the Optional Installs.pkg on your Mac install disc that came with your iMac. Or in your case, you use Pacifist to extract the Safari app from the .dmg file.
To bookmark a webpage:
Go to the webpage you want to bookmark. If you use tabs, you can open multiple webpages in tabs to bookmark them as a collection.
Choose Bookmarks > Add Bookmark, or Bookmarks > “Add Bookmarks for These Tabs.”
Type a name for the bookmark or collection in the dialog that appears.
Specify where you want to keep the bookmark or collection. You can add it to the bookmarks bar, the Bookmarks menu, or to a collection if you have created any.
Click Add.
To add a bookmark quickly, click the Add button in the toolbar, or drag the webpage’s icon from the address field to the bookmarks bar.
To see your bookmarks, choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks.
In the future, rather then deleting an app, come here and ask for help first. More times then not, you will save yourself time and trouble. -

There is a question mark covering my safari icon and it wont open
Why is there a question mark covering my safari Icon and how do I remove it?
Where is it? Did you move it or did you delete it? Try doing a Spotlight search for it just in case you moved it.
Otherwise, get out your OS X installer disc and look in the optional installs folder for an installer from which you can restore pre-bundled software. You may be able to restore Safari. Or, you can download a Safari version for Tiger or Leopard at support.apple.com/downloads. -

Safari icon with Question Mark
My 3 year old did something really goofy & now my Safari icon has a large question super-imposed on it. I believe this to be the reason that it won't open. I tried to locate Safari again via Finder & the Applications folder but where the icon should be is an open box made of dashed lines. I can survive on Firefox for now, but I really need some of the bookmarks back. Your assistance is greatly appreciated
Then you're going to have to reinstall Safari. To do that:
1. Repair Permissions.
2. Insert your Mac OS X install disc, navigate to the Optional Installs folder and open the Optional Installs.mpkg file.
3. Check the box to install Safari and run the installer.
4. Download and re-apply the 10.5.5 Combo Update; this will get you back to Safari 3.1.2.
5. Repair Permissions again.
Unfortunately, whatever bookmarks you had in Safari are gone, since there is no folder for it. If you're running Safari in the Admin account, you should setup your own User Account instead; this will avoid this problem happening in the future. The Admin account should only be used for administrative tasks on the Mac, not for general use. There's too much potential for things to get deleted without your knowledge or authorization, as this example proves.

The only way I seem to be able to reopen Firefox is to reboot the computer, which, needless to say, is not a very helpful choice. Is this a common problem? I am running Windows 7.

Other programs work fine while Firefox is open, but when I go back to the Firefox window, the problem starts again. I click on the "fiel edit view" buttons, but nothing at all happens. It's been like this for a few days.
