Deleted Safari

My three year old deleted Safari from my iPhone. How do I get it back? She didn't turn on the parental restriction for Safari, I checked.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Safaris can't be removed. It can be hidden if restrictions are enabled for Safari. Since you already checked that, try this:
If you reset the home screen layout, you'll put all the original apps in their original locations, followed by third-party apps in alphabetical order. Go to Settings and select General > Reset and tap Reset Home Screen Layout. Maybe that will help you find it.

  • I accidently deleted Safari, so have installed again from my disc. Since then it randomly crashes. Help neededplease

I accidently deleted Safari, and have had to install again from the disc. Since then it just crashes randomly. After reading other posts,  I have created another account to see if it still does it, but it still crashes. Any suggestions please?

Did you run Software update yet?
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

  • I have purchased a new iMac, with Safari 5.0.5, but it won't retain bookmarks, I thought I can download a new Safari from Apple. So I deleted Safari from the application folder.

I have purchased a new iMac, with Safari 5.0.5, but it won't retain bookmarks, I thought I can download a new Safari from Apple. So I deleted Safari from the application folder.
Then I tried to download Safari from Firefox but after finish download, what I got was a dmg file, with a pkg icon (an opened box) and it can't be installed. Same with Google Chrome.
My question is: how can I download Safari? And will it retain bookmarks?

Reinstall Safari from the Optional Installs.pkg on your Mac install disc that came with your iMac. Or in your case, you use Pacifist to extract the Safari app from the .dmg file.
    To bookmark a webpage:
Go to the webpage you want to bookmark. If you use tabs, you can open multiple webpages in tabs to bookmark them as a collection.
Choose Bookmarks > Add Bookmark, or Bookmarks > “Add Bookmarks for These Tabs.”
Type a name for the bookmark or collection in the dialog that appears.
Specify where you want to keep the bookmark or collection. You can add it to the bookmarks bar, the Bookmarks menu, or to a collection if you have created any.
    Click Add.
To add a bookmark quickly, click the Add button in the toolbar, or drag the webpage’s icon from the address field to the bookmarks bar.
To see your bookmarks, choose Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks.
In the future, rather then deleting an app, come here and ask for help first. More times then not, you will save yourself time and trouble.

  • Can I safely delete Safari?

I can't stand Safari. It doesn't work, it takes up valuable space and I never use it. Is there any reason why I should not delete it?

Deleting Safari may cause a Mac OS X update you install in the future to create a partial application, but this can also be deleted if necessary. If you find yourself unable to change the default browser after deleting Safari, use RCDefaultApp.

  • Re: Deleted Safari 1.0 from G4 iMac /How to restore?

Accidentally deleted Safari app from iMac running 10.2. Used Software Restore discs to try and get it back but apparently, it wasn't in there. Tried to find an older version of Safari on Apple's site, but struck out there, too. How can I download a fresh copy back onto my hd?

Excellent news Bill, glad to have helped, and thanks for the Star.
    Regards
    Jim.
PS. Did you look under "Custom Install" on the Install Disk? The option to Install Safari, without having to Install anything else, should be there. Let me know, and we'll do some more searching. Very interesting!.

  • I deleted Safari!  How do I get it back!

Help I got myself a new Airbook and was deleting everything off of my old MacBook Pro so I could give it to an employee, somehow I  must have deleted Safari!  The Icon is still there but when you click on it nothing happens at all!  (I already emptied the trash)

It would depend on which os you were using on the old computer which you did not mention.

Did you just delete the Safari icon from the dock? If so, bring up Finder, choose applications, and drag the Safari icon back to the dock.  However, if you really deleted it (dragged it to the trash and emptied the trash) ... you can download it from the OS X 10.5 Leopard install disk, using the optional installs. After clicking on optional installs, click on applications, and choose Safari.

  • Deleted SAFARI on mac running LION 10.7.1

I deleted safari on my imac running lion 10.7.1 do I have reinstall Lion ( I didn't get a disc with lion I remember it was a download)   can I download safari?
Can you advise me what to do
    Regards
    DB

The version I've linked to should be the current version - 5.1, 64-bit, full-screen mode support, etc, etc.  It should work fine on Lion - certainly I'm not aware of any technical reason it wouldn't.  Apple does't, as far as I know, release seperate versions of their applications for different operating systems.  At worst, what happens is that older versions of the application won't work on newer versions of the OS, because API have changed or there are incompatible features.
OS X 10.6.8 was the version of SL from which users upgrade to Lion...Safari 5.1 should therefore work for OS X 10.6.8 or later.  Or later including 10.7.  If not, I'd be very curious to find out why.

  • I have a 2009 Macbook and I accidentally deleted safari. How do I reinstal it?

I have a 2009 macbook and I accidentally deleted Safari. How do I reinstal it?

If it's in a backup, restore it from there.
If not and the computer's running Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier, install it from the Mac OS X install DVD, using Pacifist if needed, and then run the combo updater for that version as well as all applicable Safari and security updates.
If not and the computer's running Mac OS X 10.7 or newer, restart with the Command and R keys held down and reinstall the OS.

  • I deleted Safari....HELP!!!!

HELP!!! I deleted Safari. I have tried to download updates but they are obviously looking for a previous version...which i deleted. Where will I find Safari? How do I get it back?

Use Pacifist to reinstall Safari from the Mac OS X 10.39 combo updater, and then rerun the later Safari updaters.

  • Deleting Safari Bookmark Favorites with one key stroke

Just got a brand new MacBook Pro 15 in. with retina display...upon connecting to the WIFI that my old Toshiba laptop was connected to, my new Mac imported all this suff and filed it under my Safari Bookmark Favorites....I can delete them one by one, but it's too many to delete singularly. Is there a way to delete all that is in my Safari Favorites with one key stroke?

       Delete Safari .plist file.
Quit all applications. Click on an empty spot on the desktop to activate Finder.
Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select “Library” from the drop down.
       Library > Preferences >  com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click it and select  "Move  to Trash".  Close Finder window.
       Please don’t empty the Trash.
       Restart. Launch Safari.
      Test Safari.  Try editting bookmarks
       If this doesn’t help;
       Put back the com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”
Right click on the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.

  • Deleted Safari and Can't Re-Install?

I deleted Safari because I no longer used it. I began using Firefox, and now regret it. My wife has the CD in Austin, and I am in Lubbock going to school this summer. Is there a way to install Safari without the CD? I have tried downloading it from the Apple website, but it will not allow me to for some reason?
    Thanks

You can download a demo copy of Pacifist here. Don't worry, it's not a feature-limited evaluation copy. It will do what you want it to do.
Although strictly speaking, you require your Mac OS X Tiger DVD to install a full copy of Safari, I have found that the version offered up by any of the Mac OS X Combo Updates seem to suffice, at least as far as day-to-day functionality's concerned. If what you're looking for is a stop-gap, it might be an option you'd want to explore. Proceed with caution.

  • Deleted Safari... now it won't let me re install??

I deleted Safari and all it's preferences / metadata and then downloaded Safari 3.1.1 from the Apple site. I repaired permissions and ran the install package but when I try and install Safari on the hard drive the hard drive has a red exclamation mark and says
"You cannot install Safari on this volume. This update requires Mac OS X 10.5.2 or newer".
Thing is that I'm running 10.5.3.
    Any ideas?? I'm stuck.
    Many thanks

On the Mac you've inserted the MacBook Air installer disk into, you should also assure you've turned on DVD/CD sharing in System Preferences. Do this:
    1. Open System Preferences on the Mac with the DVD drive
    2. Select the Sharing Control Panel.
    3. Turn on DVD or CD Sharing by clicking in the box on the left
    4. Insert the MacBook Air installer disk into the DVD drive
    5. Go to the MacBook Air and open a Finder window
    6. In the Sidebar on the left side of the window, click on Remote Disc
    7. The Disc will mount on the MacBook Air's Desktop (you may need to click on an Authorize button on the Mac with the DVD drive)
    8. Once authorized, the contents of the mounted installer disk will appear in the window. Click on the Optional Installs folder and double click on the Optional Installs package.
    9. Once the installer starts, click on the triangle to the left of Applications, then check the Safari box below.
    10. Click on Continue.
When the installation is finished, don't forget to turn off DVD Sharing on the Mac with the DVD drive. Also, you'll have to download the Combo Updater at Apple to assure all the needed Safari components are reinstalled. Get that at:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/
You could try just the Safari 3.1.1 updater, but if you manually deleted some key components, that may not be enough.
    Good luck.

I'm not sure I understand what that is. Can you clarify?
It's likely that jaredfs' proposed solution will work, if you are infected with some kind of adware. However, it's hard to tell whether that's the case from your description.
