Deleted some games, something happened and can't get firefox anymore, can get IE. Keep getting crash reporter but get no email or anything in response. Please help. I want FF, not IE
I can open FF but all I get is a blank screen with FF logo on top left, and the minimixe-maximize, exit buttons on top left. Nothing else and it won't open. I done the crash reporter about 10 times and get no response at all, I don't think that it is getting to you. FF 4.0 Beta 12 is what I was using however, I can't get anything FF. I've tried doing it through the administrator, can't do it. I've uninstalled and re-installed and nothing happens. This has gone on for about 6 weeks and I've tried everything and nothing happens. The problem is so bad that I thought if I was stuck with IE, I would update to their current program and won't even do that. Help.
Google ATI Firefox crash. You'll see ATI video cards have multiple problems with Firefox and also internet videos. Also, note the dates these problems occurred - many are 2011...

I have an IPhone operating OS 4.21. I cannot back it up before update and I cannot set up an ICloud account as it needs to be on a version later on the device. Please help, I want to update but not lose everything!

That would tend to indicate a permissions issues on the computer.
Running an outdated version of iTunes is of absolutely no benefit.
All iDevices work with the current version of iTunes. -

Can I view photos and movies from my external hard drive? I used Time Machine and a WD Passport for backup. Since my drive on my MacBook Pro is filling up I was planning to delete some of the movies and photos. I wanted to see if I could view them from the hard drive. Thanks
Hello, eco1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like you are wanting to move your iTunes media folder to an external drive and have iTunes this folder from this location. If this is the case then I would recommend taking a look at the article below.

I'm having problems with the sound on my iPad - it was working when I first got it but something happened and I couldn't find anything in sound under settings. Anyone have any ideas about what to do?
Maybe you have muted your iPad. The button above the volume up and down on the upper right hand side can either be programmed to Mute or Lock Orientation. See if you have it programmed to Mute.
Also check control center. On your home page, swipe up from the bottom of your iPad screen and control center opens. There's a sound icon in a circle, which could be on. Tap it to see if you're muted there. -
Author's note: because I'm not yet allowed to post links in the forums, please note that all links have
dot for the actual . in links, and any "http://" is spaced out so things don't appear as links. Common sense, folks.
I found the answer here: http:// wwwdoteightforumsdotcom/tutorials/13200-windows-8-upgrade-iso-redownload.html,
but here's the brief summary:
-I'm guessing that at some point, you probably downloaded the Windows 8 preview, yes? For whatever reason, when you go to do it "for real," the Windows 8 setup doesn't overwrite the old file, called the "WebSetup"
folder. If that folder is still there, you'll get the "Sorry, something happened and we couldn't finish creating the ISO. Restart setup and try again" message.
The location of the folder is at: C:\%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebSetup
where %UserProfile% is the user account you downloaded it under (probably your default account) - this is the folder you need to delete.
Once that folder is deleted, run the Windows 8 setup file (found here: http:// windowsdotmicrosoftdotcom/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only if
you haven't, like me, already downloaded it 8 different times thinking it was a corrupted file), and it should prompt you at that point for your product key - which is something it wasn't doing for me. After that, you can choose to make it an ISO, run
it normally, run it from USB, etc.
It'd be helpful if Microsoft knew about this... hope it helps...

Windows 8.1 something happened and windows 8.1 Pro couldn't be installed.
After the release of windows 8.1 preview I attempted the installation of 8.1 preview which failed. I decided it wasn't worth the bother until it was officially released so I left it uninstalled.
After the official release of 8.1 yesterday I opened the store on my windows 8 PC and I was presented with the Windows 8.1 download. I selected this and attempted to install. this failed with the message "Something happened and Windows 8.1 Preview
failed to install" Whoops!
I clearly hadn't done my windows updates to update the store so I ran these updates and in my windows store was the Official windows 8.1 download.
Once downloaded it then fails saying "Something happened and windows 8.1 Pro couldn't be installed Please try again Error Code 0x80070003"
now im stuck with that. is there a way I can clear the downloaded files and have the store re-download them? where are the stores downloads kept?
im really stuck with this one....Hi,
This error code means that the specified path couldn't be found.
To fix this issue, I suggest we try following steps and try to reinstall again:
Step 1: Clean update temp files:
1. Press Windows key + R, type service.msc and press enter.
2. Stop Windows update service.
3. Run following command lines one by one to clear update temp files:
cd %windir%
ren SoftwareDistribution SDTemp
exit
4. Restart Windows update service.
Step 2: Clear windows store catch:
Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run dialog.
Type WSReset.exe, and click/tap on OK.
The Store will now open, and state the following: The cache for the store was cleared. You can now browse the store for apps
Then, please try to update Windows 8.1 again.

Kate Li

Something happened and your installation of Windows 8.1 couldn't be completed
I have a brand new Acer with Win 8 installed. I've removed McAfee. Other than that the machine is as delivered.
Trying to download 8.1 and install it from the store. It sits there for a couple of minutes then says:
Your Windows 8.1 installation couldn't be completed
Something happened and the installation of Windows 8.1 can't be completed.
Now apart from this being really annoying could anyone have come up with a less useful message?
I have tried it several times. I've run the compatibility util and it passes. I've tried the store without logging in, then tried the store with logging in.
I've tried it in Firefox, tried it in IE.
Same result every time.OK, so I posted 2 days ago about this issue, and I resolved it yesterday. I essentially performed a "refresh" under Windows 8, which removed a lot of the updates and applications that could be potential issues.
I then had to go to the Sony website to re-install the latest drivers, SW and driver patches related to my Vaio Duo (I had already updated the firmware and Bios -- necessary to install Windows 8.1--). I then had to re-install all Windows 8 updates,
and magically, the Windows 8.1 update started to download when I clicked on it in the Windows Marketplace. I do not know what was the source of the problem, but the refresh definitely got rid of it. It is a long process however as a lot has to
be reinstalled to bring the refreshed system to its full functionality with the latest manufacturer and Microsoft updates for Windows 8.
I can't see how a non-technical user could perform all these steps to upgrade a recent tablet to Windows 8.1!
Good luck!

while updating my ipod touch something happened and now the screen only shows the apple logo that goes on-off. i dont know what to do,please somebody help me!
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

mm, I was deleting some files last night and when I came to booting up this morning my Macbookpro (5 years old) i was greeted with a user login screen? put in my password, but all i get is the space screen and no further action...? cant get apps o my bar
Sounds like you may have deleted something you shouldn't have. Boot to an OS X DVD or a bootable backup, and using Disk Utility, do a repair disk, and while there repair permissions. Disconnect any peripherals, and reboot. If you get the same startup behavior, do a safe boot, by holding the shift key down when booting. If that works, try a normal boot. If neither step helps, you may need to relaod your operating system.
