Transferr of songs between ipod and computer
Recently reformatted computer's hard drive, restored Itunes library with no problem. But when I connect ipod, get message that certain songs are in protected wma format and cannot be trandfered. i understand the protective format scenario, but don't understand that if they are in my library why they can't be transferred to the ipod or vice versa. Any suggestions?
iPod cannot play protected wma songs so iTunes will not put them onto it.
iTunes can handle more file types than the iPod itself for various reasons.

I have purchased two complete albums in the last three weeks, old Bob Seger and new Maroone 5, both have the same issue, only a few songs will play and will skip over the rest of the songs on IPod and on computer????
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from the music section of your iTunes library, close & then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked. This seems to help with partial downloads...
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

IPod Nano 5th Gen... Deleting Songs from iPod while connected to iTunes
Hello,
There are some songs on my iPod Nano that I want to delete from the iPod but still keep in Library...
When I connect my iPod to my Mac, all of the songs show up that are on my iPod but I am unable to click the song and delete it from my iPod.
All of the songs are not bold like when I look at them in my library.
I can't click on any of the songs... when I hold the control button and click my mouse the only thing that pops up is a menu that features:
Get Info
Reset Play Count
Reset Skip Count
Show in Playlist
Apply Sort Field
Can anyone help me????
Thank you very much!If you want to delete songs from iTunes and keep them on the iPod you need to change the update option of your iPod to "manually manage music and videos" (this setting isn't available for 1st and 2nd generation iPod shuffles, you can't delete from iTunes and keep the songs on the these). The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different, you can get details here:
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
iPod - Syncing Music
One major word of caution. If you delete songs or videos from your computer and have no back up other than the iPod you will risk losing them permanently if your iPod fails or you find you have to restore it to solve a problem. You should consider investing in an additional internal or external hard drive to store/back up your music. Alternatively at the very least back up anything you can't replace such as iTunes downloads to CD or DVD or an external drive:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod Nano in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod -
how do you delete songs from ipod touch if can help me that would be great.
planb77 is wrong. There is a way to delete songs, artists, albums, and playlists directly from your ipod touch. Simply click the song, artist, album, or playlist you want to delete but dont let go and slide your finger to your left (or right) and a red button will pop up to the right of the song, album, artist, or playlist title saying "Delete". Simply click it to delete it. To cancel and hide this button or option, simply slide right or left again or tap your finger anywhere on the screen away from the "delete" button.
BTW I am not absolutely sure if this will work on all previous versions of the Ipod Touch. I am running iOS 5. iOS 5.0.1 to be excact. -

Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library
Can't delete song from ipod touch that is not in my library
Monty's solution will work if you have left the songs in one of your playlists. Another idea if that doesn't work is to check your iTunes list for that iPod. Check at the very bottom beneath the albums, artist,s and other content to add to your iPod, and be sure that you don't have individual songs selected to be added as well. If you do, eliminate them from that bottom list, and you should be fine.

Need help in deleting songs from iPod
I'm trying to delete songs from iPod (not library), but song and podcast list is grayed out. I cannot select them to delete them. This seems like a very simple thing to do. I have the latest iTunes and iPod software loaded and have tried the online help, the 5 Rs and restart. I'm feeling really stupid here!!!!!
eMac Mac OS X (10.3.9)Set the iPod to manage content manually; you should then be able to select and delete the items listed as being on the iPod.

Is it possible to tranfer songs from iPod to computer?
Is it possible to tranfer songs from iPod to computer? I was just wondering if my iPod is an adequate back up device for my iTunes files.
Windows XPWelcome to Apple Discussions!
The best option is to get an external harddrive for backup. Imagine if your iPod got stolen and your computer crashed. Or your iPod malfunctions when trying to recover music.

How can I delete songs from iPod touch without plugging it in my comp and without deleting songs from my comp's iTunes list
The only way to remove songs is via the iTunes sync process, and you don't have to delete songs from your iTunes library to delete the songs from your iPod.
If you are syncing and don't want your entire iTunes music library transferred, make use of iTunes playlists. Choose selected playlists, artists, and genres under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes making your selections below followed by a sync. To remove a song from your iPod, delete it from the selected playlist in iTunes. Deleting a song from a playlist does not delete the song from your iTunes library. To add another song to your iPod, place the song in one of the existing iTunes playlists you have selected to be transferred to your iPod followed by a sync. And/or under the Summary tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, select sync only checked songs and video. Uncheck the song in your iTunes library that you want removed from your iPod followed by a sync. -
