Deleted songs trying to re-download?

I had some music from CDs on my iPad and deleted them, but after a couple days, it showed them trying to redownload, but they can't because they aren't from iTunes and I can't delete them again, because they are still trying to download.... What do I do?

It's not that anyone looks down on you, it's just that you have done something that the overwhelming majority of us have no experience with this and we might not be able to help because of that. I have no idea how this will affect your iOS moving forward. I have never downloaded a beta version of any OS whether for my Macs or my iOS devices. I do know that restoring to factory settings should restore the iPad to the most current public version available at the time that you restore.
Why on earth you would download a Beta version of the iOS and not create a current backup before you did, is beyond my understanding.

  • Deleting songs from computer once downloaded into my iPod

Once I download songs into my iPod, I no longer need them to take up space on my hard drive. However, when I delete them, the playlist changes so that when I update my iPod with new songs, the old ones on the iPod disappear because they are no longer located on the hard drive. Half the reason I have an iPod is so that I can save hard drive space on my computer. What do I do?

Well, you can leave the song references within iTunes and delete the underlying song files from the PC and it will not (most times) erase the songs on the iPod.
    However....A Big However:
b Deleting songs off of iTunes or your computer is a very bad idea unless you have created one or more backup files of all your songs.
Using the iPod as the sole repository of any of your songs is a very risky practice.
    b When
    i (not ‘if’)
you need to restore the iPod, return the iPod for service, or it's song files are somehow lost or damaged, you will be re-ripping all your CDs back into iTunes and re-purchasing all your iTMS songs. Restoring the iPod is a common ‘fix’ to many small issues that arise.
If you cannot store your songs on a PC or within iTunes, then you will need to have some storage medium in use (an external hard drive, DVDs or CDs). You should also consider a secondary backup medium for additional safety. Whether you keep your music in iTunes or on an external source –
i Multiple copies of your music files are a must!
The iPod is really designed to be playback device - not a primary storage device (although it can be used as such), and certainly not as the
    b only
storage medium for all your music.
Do a search for 'lost music' and/or 'backup' and you will see the woes that folks have in recovering their music files due to a lack of backups.
Here is a link to help you go on your way to a backup regime: Using iTunes for Backing up your music files
Always backup your PC files: both music and data. Backup as frequently as possible. The usual metric is to determine just how much work (hours, days, weeks) or money spent you are willing to repeat by extending out your time between backups. Your choice, your potential headache &/or loss. Many data-savvy folks have more than one backup
    i and
create incremental backups every time they add to or change their Library. Depending on the work I am doing, I may perform several backups during the same day. As they are incremental, and placed on my ExHD – it is a very quick operation to perform several times a day, when needed.
If you are heavily invested in your Library data (playlists, playcounts, ratings, last played, date added, etc.), then
b it is critical that you also make multiple backups of your ‘iTunes Library.itl’ file.
    b iTMS REMINDER:
While you can always take the time to re-rip the CDs you own to restore your iTunes music, if you lose your iTMS purchased music and have no backups, you will have to re-purchase them. Few exceptions are made to this rule – at least none that I am aware of.

  • Itunes have deleted songs in library; cannot download; cannot understand previous comments.

Sob Story: My mother just died. I want to listen to my songs on my iPhone to destress myself. However, itunes has deleted half my playlist on my Mac. I went to my library. I did lots of searching for hours; I read all the comments here - half of them I don't understand.Too much talk; too little help. I tried dragging albums to itunes - NO!. Half of the songs in my so called library have weird names  - not the previous song titles. I dont know what has happened. I have not changed software, updated anything, changed anything etc. There are more songs on my iphone that are not now in itunes so I can't even sync because then I will lose the precious songs I DO want to listen to. I really can't cope with this. I read someone saying they will buy a huge MP3 player and download songs the old fashioned way and others laugh - but you know what? When your mother dies, he will be laughing and itunes users... I hate Apple SO much right now.
If anyone has a really simple solution for an IT dummy (funnily enough I was quite clever on the old IT front until this happened) please spell out. Do not say: go to library, do this with file blah blah -- I have tried it all and plus, there are dozens of itune library files...

It's very simple. I turned on my MacBook Pro, went to itunes and noticed half of my songs were missing, albums etc. I looked online and people said go to X folder i.e. itunes library etc etc... But when I go there, there are dozens of folders all with the same name. I tried all the techniques, dragging, dropping, from A to B, but no good. Then I found a Music Folder - great I thought, as all my albums seemed to be there. But when I looked at them all the tracks have weird names (i.e. they have lost their titles) and they could not be dropped into iTunes. I never buy anything from ITunes so all my albums are ones I bought on CD and downloaded. By MP3 Player I mean, one of those old fashioned devices where you can just manually drop albums into, that don't bother synching, unlike the ipod on my iphone which now contains completely different albums and tracks than in the itunes on my Macbook Pro meaning I can no longer sync. To be honest I've now given up but thanks for your response.

  • IPhone has been deleting songs that I have downloaded from CDs

Songs that I downloaded into iTunes from previously purchased CD's have been randomly deleted from my iPhone 4, but in iTunes they still play. Music that I directly purchased through iTunes is still working.

This happened to me too, but I only have cds.  I read in another thread the problem could be in a corrupted file.  They said to re-sync with nothing checked off, this would delete everything from the phone.  Then re-sync with your selected music.  My problem started occurring when certain songs were deleted from a CD accidently on the Mac and iTunes couldn't sync those songs becuase it couldn't find them.  I wiped out my phone as described and re-synced without that CD being selected and haven't had the problem anymore.   It seems like the issue is fixed now.

  • Itunes Match Makes Deleting Songs from iPhone impossible

I'm so frustrated by iTunes Match, and would love to know if anyone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
The issue I'm having is that I can't delete songs which have been downloaded onto my phone from my phone with my phone.  Whether the itunes Match service is disabled, or enabled and the "show all music" option is disabled, the music app does not respond to swiping to delete albums, artists or songs.  I've tried every configuration of settings I can think of.
Does anyone have a way to fix this?  I've done many hard reboots and come up with nothing.  I can of course delete by using my home computer, but I'm paying for a service that should allow me to download from the cloud and delete what I've downloaded while away from my desktop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi Kevinpnb,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Sorry to hear of your frustration with Music Match on your iPhone.  You should be able to delete the music from your iPhone by following the steps in this article:
iTunes Match on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1867
If the issue still persists, try backing up your iPhone to iCloud, and then restore it:
iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud

I hope this information helps ....

  • Re-downloading deleted songs? (with a twist)

    Hey all,
So I got a new iPhone and downloaded the new iTunes (haven't used either in many years) and I figured 'what the heck ill figure it out.' So in my haste I started clicking the "cloud" icon next to most of my albums thinking I had to download them on my PC.
Then I start reading about the iCloud and figure "oh, why do I need these on my PC if they play from the Cloud?" So I just went into my PC Users and Deleted the songs from My Music and then from my Trash Can.
Upon logging back into iTunes the albums are still in my Library but when I try to play any of the songs (about 90 of them) they all have the "Can't locate file" error.
I am looking for help on finding how I can redownload these songs. [I have already tried looking under hidden purchases]
    Thanks for the help!

Delete the library entries and download them again:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Download previous purchases from the iTunes Store

And this time don't delete them!

  • How do I delete songs from my playlist that I don't want and didn't download

I have 5 songs on my playlist for iTunes that I did not download and don't want them, but don't know how to delete. Tried swiping from left to right but when I push delete I just get the cloud. Does anyone know how to get rid of these from my playlist?

    Hello nothappy14,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when trying to delete a song.  The cloud icon to the right of the song indicates the song is being streamed from iTunes in the Cloud and not actually on your device.  Because they are not on your device, they can't be deleted, but you can choose to hide these songs so that they don't appear on your iPhone.
You can hide the song by accessing the iTunes Store on the computer:
    To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
    Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
You will need to quit and relaunch the Music app on your iPhone after hiding the purchase on your computer before seeing the changes.  Close the Music app using the following steps:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
iOS: Force an app to close

  • Deleting songs downloaded from cloud?

Is it possible to delete songs I downloaded from my purchase history on my iPad?

ok, appologize for that i read both responses to this issue and figured people were wanting to be able to delete directly from the ipad/ipone.  So by you saying "i have tried to sync it up....." that you are syncing to itunes.
so i have tried to duplicate the proplem you are having and here's the results, please if you want let me know if i have steered away again from what your problem is.
I have my itunes as "manualy manage music and videos" so i downloaded a song from the cloud to my ipad. I then plugged in my ipad to my mac and view my ipads library. I was able to highlight the song in itunes on the ipad library and successfully delete it.  I then unpplugged ipad from my mac and the song was gone.  I was also able to delete the song from the itunes library itself. Once i deleted the song i went to my ipad and went to the itunes app and redownloaded the song i deleted.
The only thing i can think of is which may or may not be the case in your situation is that you have sync checked songs and videos selected under your sync options in summary. In this case then you will lose control over your ipad music in itunes program but still you would be able to uncheck a song in the itunes library itself and then syn and it should be gone on the ipad.
I hope something in my succsesfull experiance of deleting a song from my ipad that was downloaded from the cloud and then redownloading it from the cloud will help in some way.  My environment is ipad2 and mac os. It shouldn't make a difference if you have ipad1 or ipad2 but you never know if your using a pc it may have problems i know i had some problems when i used to have a pc not necesarily THIS problem but some other big headaches once i got a mac (im not advertising here just the facts) those problems are a thing of the past.
If you need to give me a little more details about your problem that i hav'nt been able to discern please do so i will rerun the cenario and see what i can come up with. If indeed what I've done is exactly what you've tried then i would call apple on the issue. They don't have an "Itunes support division but tech support would be who would help you. you can also do the chat with one in itunes store support on the computer.

    A Espinoza,
The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities.  So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

  • Cannot delete photos from  iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried all solutions using Itunes and it doesn't delete them from iphone

Cannot delete photos from iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried the ITunes solution and it does not delete the photos.  Try a second time and Sync doesn't even start

I see the photos tab and "My Pictures" folder shows.  Sync is unselected.  It asks if I want to delete the photos when I click on sync and I said yes but it didn't work.  It does seem that some photos are removed based on available storage left (decreases).  If I select individual folders, subfolders of "My Pictures" then hit Sync deselected Sync doesn't even start.

    Hello Lor100,
In order to delete or add individual songs from and to your iPod, you'll need to enable 'manual mode' on the device. This will allow you to add and remove exactly the content you desire.

  • I'm editing a band deleting songs, then suddenly it deleted all of the songs by an artist!  It's happened twice. Once I tried to restore them from the recycle bin but it did'nt work.  The 2nd time the songs were not in the recycle bin.  Why?

I'm editing a band by deleting songs I do not like on iTunes on my PC. When I believe I'm deleting a song it ends up deleting ALL of the songs by that band (this is after I've deleted many individual songs sucessfully)!  This has happened twice since the new version of iTunes.  The first time I tried to restore the songs from my recycle bin but they just vanished when I tried to restore them.  The second time (today)  the songs were not even in the recycle bin.  Has this happened to anyone else out there? I have to now relocate all of those cd's and then reinstall them and go through them and put songs back onto various playlists (I have a lot of them).  Hassle!!!
