Deleted Temp files still visible in certain softwares.

Hi,
I want to know how to get rid of Temp files like (.dwl, .dwl2) or even come xlsx files which have already been deleted but are still visible in some softwares. For example when I do a backup using the Carbon Copy Cloner, I still get the option to choose these files for backup, which are already deleted but which otherwise don't show up in the Folders or a search in Finder.

If you mean visible in a list of recently opened files then yes you will always see them. Those programs store a liost of the most recently opened files and have no way to reference whether they still exist or if they have been moved, copied to some other place or even deleted. It only knows what That Program Opened.
As to CCC those deleted files may still be in your Trash can and it is asking you if you want to back them up. Also it may be that they exist in the last backup and since they aren't still on the drive and wouldn't be included in the new backup CCC is asking if you want to care them over from the old backup or just delete them.

I also use Acrobat Pro X and the same file appears in Temp. I simply unlock it with "Unlocker 1.9.1", then delete the file. You can download "Unlocker 1.9.1" for FREE HERE. Keep in mind that the log file will keep recreating itself, so might be easiest to leave it alone.
After you install Unlocker, right click on any file that you cannot delete and select "unlocker" from the context menu. Then, highlight the program that is using/locking the file and select "unlock" at the bottom of the window. Voila!!! Now you can delete that pesky file. Hope this helps....

The assumption that unwanted temp files and cache are causing poor performance is unjustified. OS X does not maintain unwanted cache files. They exist to increase performance and are updated or deleted as necessary. So are temporary files. Certain font cache files are moved to the Trash during Safe Boot: OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support. Do not use any other utility.
If your Mac is running slowly, determine if the same symptoms occur in Safe Mode.
Back up your Mac if you have not done so already. To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.

HT1926 Why the iTunes download doesn't start in windows 7 after deleting temp file etc

I have followed the instructions for deleting the temp files and still when I click the download button nothing happens. I am very new to this Windows 7 so most likely I am the reason for this failure but its driving me crazy! How do I get iTunes to work?

And you are sure you are not running Bridge CS5 in the background? You can only run one Bridge program at any one time.
In both the Mac and Win OS seems like the workaround to create a new user works frequently, but it is a hassle. In your problem solving did you unistall everything then run the Adobe Script Cleaner?
Although this is a stretch for this problem, but might search your uninstall directroy and see if there are any expired Adobe trials you have not uninstalled. For whatever reason it can stop launch of Bridge "as you need to launch parent application at least once". Apparently even though it is long gone it is still seeing it as "parent" program. As I said it is kind of a stretch here, but you never know.
Good luck on this as I know it is extrememly frustrating and Adobe does have its communication problems.
That is why it is important for the users to step up and start contributing to these forums with suggestions on what to try, thiings they have tried and worked or did not, etc.

Nokia C5-03 music files still visible aldo removed...

I connect my nokia C5-3 to the PC to put and remove music on the memory stick in the mobile. When I remove music files, they are still visible on my mobile when I want to create playlists. So It takes a lot of time to find the right files! I can't play the ones who are removed offcourse but they stay in the list
Other problem: it seems that music and videaos are put automatically on the memory stick from my PC, how do I prevent that?

My brower, IE, is running slower than usual. I'd heard that by deleting the temp files, which get created when I go onto websites, it might run quicker.
This is on on Old OS 9 machine my son uses in the basement.
I have a high speed cable connection.

IE keeps its temporary files here - System Folder >> Preferences >> Explorer >> Temporary Files. It should automatically empty that folder whenever you quit and restart IE. Sometimes there is a duplicate Temporary Items folder in the Explorer Control folder in Preferences.
What many folk have found that helps a lot when using a broadband (cable or DSL) connection is to set the Cache to zero (the number, not the word). That setting is in IE's Preferences (Edit menu), here - Preferences > Web Browser > Advanced, in the middle of the page.
And, increase the Preferred memory allocation for IE if that has not already been done. Adding 20 or 30 thousand, or even more if there is sufficient RAM available, to the original Preferred amount is not excessive.

Deleted Program Files Still Running

I deleted an application via AppCleaner but some of it's files still running on activity monitor, under root user. I can not find where the files are even when I get information and follow the path under the root user. Is there another route I can go?

What program was it?
As you can see, the app cleaner programs don't always work well.
There are very few places that an app can leave their droppings that can do any harm. The most common places that an app can run at login or startup is in the following folders:
/Library/StartupItems (this one is the old way, but still used).
/Library/LaunchAgents (these run when someone logs in)
/Library/LaunchDaemons (these run when the system starts up)
~/Library/LaunchAgents (run when particular user logs in)
~/Library/StartupItems
The / means the root (hard drive) folder
The ~/ means the user home folder.
Finally, they can install in your Login Items which you can get to from the Accounts System prefs.
As Lex mentioned, you may need to stop the process before you can empty the trash (use Activity Monitor from the Utilities folder).
If an app installs stuff like that, they should provide an uninstaller and you should use that.
If it doesn't, most other droppings may be found in the Application Support folder (in both the main Library and the user Library), and the user Preferernces folder.
Generally, most apps follow Apple's naming convention of reverse domain naming (ie com.apple.appname).
Except the StartupItems folders, you should find something with a com.companyname.programname.plist. Delete it and logout and back in or restart if it was in the main Library. In StartupItems, it will be a folder with any name they decide to give it. Likely something with the name of the program.

Deleted html button still visible when published?

i recentley deleted the html widget from my iweb which contained a twitter follow button and i have a new html code i am using which is a twitter feed, but when the site is pulished the twitter follow button is still visible, when the site is viewed from the home folder all looks fine, when its published to the ftp server the button is visible and not the html code currentley in use? what is the problem?

i am using Oracle 10g and my database is in archive log mode my default temporary tablespace is temp and there are 3 tempfiles in it by name temp01.dbf,temp02.dbf,temp03.dbf i am trying to drop temp03.dbf through sql prompt
sql > alter tablespace temp drop tempfile '/path/temp03.dbf' ;
and got a error ora-02142 missing or invalid alter tablespace option.
then i made this tempfile offline and again tried to drop this tempfile with the same command and again i got the same error please tell me why i am getting this error and how to drop that temp file .

How to delete temp files in /u99/temp/obiee_tmp

Hi All,
We have 50gb on /u99 but it got filled suddenly 35gb. While checking I found that following files are created with 7.1 gb size.
nQS_7676_24_20578926.TMP
Can someone please help us how to delete these files.
1. Will running purge_cache.sh scripts clears these files?
2. Can we delete these files manually?
We have Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.4.1

Old old site still visible from certain wifi locations?!

Hi,
I find this very weird. I created a website a while back using iWeb, and published it. I then re-vamped it as it didn't work properly, and published it to MobileMe but with a personal domain.
This has worked great for a couple of years now, but I have discovered that when I try to visit the site using safari and firefox sometimes I am taken to the defunct old site (which should no longer exist) and not to the new site. This only seems to happen when, like now, I am using a hotel wifi connection. When I visit the site in the internet cafe around the corner it works fine and goes to the new site.
I also have web forwarding on a similar URL to my personal domain and this also forwards to the old site under the circumstances outlined above.
How can I get rid of the old site and/or just get people to see the new site and not the old broken one!
Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry to pester you further about this. It was all working fine last night. Tonight the old phantom site is back, and I have no idea where it is coming from. I thought I had deleted it all.
On MobileMe, I click on the iDisk icon, and I see nothing in the file called "sites" but all my website stuff seems to be in a file called "web" which seems fair enough. There is also an iWeb icon on the sidebar, and when I click on that I see the pages from my new website...nowhere can I see the old site. So how come I am still getting taken there?

Can I wipe everything from the iDisk web bit, and then start again?

Deleted video files still take up disk space

Hey guys! I'm using a 13-inch rMBP, late 2013, running OS X 10.10.1. Yesterday I deleted more than 40GB of video files from my "Movies" folder, and emptied the trash can. However, the 40GB of disk space didn't appear as available. I looked online and tried everything like resetting trash can authorization and restarting Time Machine, but they did not seem to work.
Meanwhile, in my disk usage I see more than 100GB of "others". I used Disk Inspector to scan my Macintosh HD and found 109 GB of hidden files. I believe this is much more than it should be.
Only video files seems to have this problem. I also deleted 2GB of documents, and they seemed fine.
So any suggestions or anyone else experiencing the same problem? Thanks a lot!

From the wife's Mac, open Terminal (applications / utilities / Terminal)
For all of these type in's I say to do, do whats inside the quotes and not the quotes themselves. Or do a copy and paste if you aren't sure on a letter... And press Return after you type them in.
Type in "cd /"
Type in "ls -al"
You should see a .Trashes in here at the top of the list.
Type in "cd .Trashes"
Type in "ls" here and see what you get. It will probably be a folder named 501 for the admin account from your Mac.
If so, do an "rm -R /.Trashes/501/"
and watch your disk space.
If it complains to you that you don't have permissions, you will have to type in "sudo rm -R /.Trashes/501/"

Deleted Link is still visible in Replication

I set the test Multimaster replication on two computers at LAN. Just for testing I configured another link on one computer (although third computer was not connected). Then I deleted the new link and there is no such link in dba_db_links. But when I connect both computers in multimaster replication it still shows third deleted link in the statistics (schedule).
How do I finish that link from my replication setup?

N91 - Deleted Access Points still visible to appli...

I created and later deleted a number of Access Points in Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Access Points.
Although they appeared to be deleted (not listed anymore in the N91 menu system), applications such as Fring and Nimbuzz include/show all the deleted Access Points together with the current access points when listing available access points for selection.
Is there a known OS bug with access point deletion?
I'm using the latest Nokia software V2.20.008.

Avoid 5.X firmware.
