Deleted videos from iphoto but they are still showing up in the finder?

I deleted all of my videos from iPhoto and moved them to an external hard drive because I wanted to free up some space on my MacBook Air. The files are no longer visible in the iPhoto application, but for some reason, when I look at the storage space on my computer, it is still showing that I have 8GB of movies on my computer. If I search in the Finder, it is showing that a lot of these videos that I deleted from iPhoto are still in a "Masters" folder in iPhoto. I am confused, though, because if I open iPhoto, the videos are not in there. I want these video files to be deleted for good - can I just go in to the "Masters" folder in the Finder and delete them there? I've read not to delete anything from iPhoto in the Finder, though. So, getting very frustrated because I'm not sure why these files aren't fully deleted off my computer. Any suggestions?

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

So I have gone back to my 8GB nano and needed to downsize my library so that the songs fit on.
I went through deleting songs and made sure that I clicked 'send to recycle bin' instead of save file.
Library looks great.
Go to 'My Music' and 'iTunes' and all the flipping songs are still there!
Tried empyting recycle bin, restarting computer, read lots of comments/forums on this problem but have not yet found a way to sync my new library with my computers stored library.

Thank you for your reply, what I am trying to achieve is for my newly edited iTunes Library to be what is also stored on my computers hard drive - currently all the deleted songs are stored too (even though I clicked for them to be deleted from my computer).
I appreciate that I could have just created a smaller playlist but I actually wanted to get rid of music I don't listen to anymore.
So at the moment I have an iTunes library that I want to back up on my external hard drive - but if I go to my music>iTunes music to transfer to external hard drive it has all my deleted songs too, which I no longer want.
Any help for that matter?

Look at your settings iPhoto>Preferences>Accounts
and make changes here or add your email account if not in the list
One thing to look at for sure is the SMTP sever name, I think by default it fills it in as smtp.me.com or some such, which may not be your email outgoing server.

There are some good programs that you could use to convert the format, Handbrake or Mpegstreamclip are two good free ones. Convert them to MP4 and then try importing them again.

Sometimes open windows close( from sight), but they are still "open" . how do I get them back "in view"?

Such things can happen on Windows XP.<br />
That has been reported in the past and I've seen it myself.<br />
You can usually switch to such hidden windows via Alt+Tab.

Iphone has deleted calender events but they are still showing on hotmail

I have the Iphone 4 running on IOS6. I don't know if it has anything to do with the update but I have noticed all my calendar events have disappeared on my phone! I have not changed any settings on my phone for this to happen. Luckily, I can see that the events are still showing when I log into hotmail and click on calendar. Here is what my settings currently show:
Default Calendar is set to Hotmail
Sync = 'All Events'
Under Hotmail Accounts Calendars is Turned On
Mail Days to Sync - No Limit
Icloud Calendars is turned off. I have never Synced my Calendar to Icloud, I have tried switching this on but not much happened.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok I've actually been able to answer my own question. I went into Calendars then clicked on the Calendars tab in the top left hand corner. For some reason 'All Hotmail' was not ticked only the 'All on My iPhone' tab, so as soon as I clicked 'All Hotmail' all my events now show! Yeahhhhh boi!

This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default. Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music. See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled. This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

Can not import videos to iPhoto but they are on my desktop

Hi I have just changed from a pc to a mac mini. I put all my photos and videos onto a samsung hard drive then dropped that file into my documents on the mac. I then imported all the photos and some videos to i photo.
I photo then came up with a error message saying wrong file format this is really annoying me is there a easy fix for this?
If they do go over will they go into the right events or will I need to do that manually.
Any help would be great.

What's the file format? Not all video codecs are supported by iPhoto.

What are the 'right' events? If you drag a folder in from the Finder it will make an event of that folder.

TS3274 My daughters ipad has stopped downloading new apps, we tried to download some new ones this week and they are just showing as "waiting", we deleted all her games to see if it was a memory issue but they are still showing as waiting.

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

My IPad 6.1.3 is not allowing me to upgrade to version 7.0.2 ( not that I want to after reading all the horror stories). My memory is 23.3gb available and ap is 3.3gb and....twice I've deleted pics from album and they are still there !

I have recently restored my Windows laptop to factory settings in a successful attempt to speed it up but this resulted in my laptop login account being deleted as well as my iTunes library that was linked with it so since I couldnt use that account I decided to make a new iTunes library on my new laptop login then when I tried to get the songs on my iPod on to my iTunes library I lost all of the songs on my iPod so I no longer have any of my songs anywhere that I can see but when I tried to redownload my songs from the iTunes store it just says purchased next to every album/song so I can't redownload anything so the only way that I can think of to retrieve them is downloading them from , it there anyway that I can retrieve my songs?

How do you back up and what is the "it" that rebuilds iphoto? Do you mean this process of arching/deleting? It may have damaged your Library.

Going forward: another way of archiving:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
Now you have two full versions of the Library.
3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
Some Notes:
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager

You cannot delete the remembered email addresses that pop up in the mail app when you are typing an email - unless you restore the iPad to factory settings. There just is no other way to do it.
The mail app works independently of the contacts app with regard to this behavior so even if you delete the contact from the contacts app, the mail app still remembers the address.

You should be able to delete them from the bookshelf in the iBooks app via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf. If they show on the bookshelf with a cloud symbol on them then try turning Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off'. Is that what is happening ?

Try going to Settings>Music on your phone, turn off iTunes Match, then turn it back on to let it re-load your Match library. Also confirm that Show All Music is turned on.
