Deleted Windows via bootcamp, but Launchpad still shows the windows apps. Why?
I had Windows 7 installed on my 2008 Macbook Pro, but after deleting the partition via Bootcamp some time ago, the Windows apps still appear in Launchpad. I'm wondering whether this indicates that there is something of Windows still present on my hard drive? Because I'd rather it not be there, at least for the reason that it absolutely clutters up my Launchpad app selection.
Something to mention is that I used to have a trial copy of Parallels installed on this computer, but I deleted it before I deleted my Windows partition. Hence, the apps are visible within the Mac OS.
This link shows a screenshot image of Launchpad, which shows what I see in Launchpad. I daresay that this is related to something Parallels left on my computer, but if anyone can give any idea as to what I should do, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Okay...had a breakthrough! I went to my Applications folder, but not the regular one, the one found in HD/Users/Me/Applications. There was a folder called "My Boot Camp Applications". I was like whaaaat? So I looked inside, and all the applications I was concerned about were there. I deleted them...and all's good. I'm confused, but relieved. I'm guessing that they were just isolated apps that weren't connected with anything, as I had deleted the Bootcamp partition. So, it looks like things are resolved for the time being...let's hope things don't explode!
I thought I'd put message out there before I rebooted, in case I couldn't after for whatever reason...

Yes, when you run Win via BootCamp, the computer is a "real" Windows computer and just as vulnerable as any other Windows machine. It its the operating system, not the hardware, that creates vulnerability.
However, it also means you basicaly have two independent computers that happen to share the same physical space. The Mac side, as others have said, is not vulnerable to assaults that are made on the Windows side, so do not go installing a pile of anti-virus garage on the Mac side. It is unneeded at this time and will basically ruin your Mac's performance. The Windows side WILL need some form of protection. -
Ich still shows the 3G symbol but I cant connect to the internet anymore. Since ios 5.1 it disconnected every 30 minutes untill i restarted. De- and reactivating the mobile internet never helped. Now i dont get a connection. It quite not works.

I had not created 2 separated wireless network. The airport extreme has had create wireless allowing it to be extended and the airport express has had it to extend since day 1.
The only device that does not connect to the airport express when it is far from the airport extreme here is the iPhone 4. I've tested 2 Windows based computers, 2 Macs, 1 Samsung TV and 1 Android phone and they all are able to connect to the airport express when the signal from the airport extreme is weak (please take a look on the screen shots on the original post).

Ipod is not connect to windows or itunes but it still shows up on ipod

I have recently bought an I pad 2. I have been playing around with it, putting films on then taking them off. I have now deleted everything on it but it shows I still have 1.87GB on it in "other".
What does this mean?That happened to me and I read on these forums that it indicated corrupted files. I restored the iPad as new and the problem was solved.

I'm trying to install Windows 8 via Boot Camp, but the download from Microsoft is a .exe file so when I go to create the bootable USB drive, it fails. I've read some of the other threads about this topic, but I want to know if there is any way to convert to .iso without having to find someone's Windows computer to borrow. Can anyone help?
No. You would require a PC in order to run the executable which is an installer, not a disc image or an archive.

Firefox 20, Ubuntu 12.04, Cinnamon desktop. "When Firefox starts" is set to "Show my homepage". I tried settting browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to zero. Still does it. I think it happens mosts often if I log out without closing Firefox first. Does not seem to matter what that last page was. This problem has existed for as long as I have been using Firefox. It seemed to go away at about version 17, but now it is back in version 20 (at least for me).
Possibly, uninstalling all my add-ons or closing all tabs and shutting down in proper sequence would fix it. Come to think of it, going to my homepage and closing all other tabs before I log off would fix it for sure. But, it would be nice if it just worked.

When you post there, first correct your Mac OSX version. "iOS" cannot run on any computer, just Apple mobile devices. Doing "About this mac" from your Apple menu will show your Mac OSX version:
Also tell them the version of Office you are using. For a macBook Pro, it is either Office 2008 or Office 2011. -

i uninstall and delete the mozilla firfox in my directory and reinstall tha lastest version but its still showing the same error message.i experienced the same problem. this is what i did:
*right click firefox
*click properties
*click compatibility tab
* check "Run this program in compatability mode for:"
* on dropdown choose Windows 7.
* click ok or apply.

Command quit will close the iTunes window but won't quit the iTunes app

Command quit will close the iTunes library window... but won't quit the iTunes app properly.
The iTunes icon in the dock still says the app is live... click the icon in the dock and the library window pops up again.
On the second try the app will always close properly.I had the same problem: after updating to iTunes 9.1 (no errors) I just couldn't launch it. In Task Manager I saw that the iTunes process was running but it never really opened.
After nights of frustration of scanning the net for solutions I finally managed to get iTunes to run again.
1) Firstly I deleted the new iTunes 9.1 and all programmes associated with it according to the directions given here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
It also mentions you should remove the Bonjour service but I could never make that work (no privileges or something like that).
2) After that I reinstalled a previous version of iTunes. In this case 9.0.3.15. I got the download here: http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php
3) Then I disabled the Bonjour service with the MSCONFIG method mentioned at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US
There they state that you should check which service clashes with Windows by trying to disable one service at a time. I found out pretty quickly that it was just the Bonjour service that caused the problems. All other services could run normally.
After the reboot iTunes finally started up again and I was able to restore my library.
Only thing is that I can not use the Remote App on my iPod Touch. That apparently required the use of Bonjour.
I hope this method helps for some of you!
