Deleting a partially downloaded app

How do I delete an app I am in the mist of downloading but no longer want to download but is showing under
app --> purchases
I don't want it taking up space or for the files to be half way on my computer.

All downloaded apps whether partial or not will show in Purcahses but you can, "hide" a purchase.

And check your Applications folder.

Partially downloaded app

I have firmware 2.0.2 on 1st gen iphone. i had an app downloaded, and i tried to update the app through the app store on the iphone. it never got done downloading on the iphone, its a big app. i finally managed to get it downloaded on the computer. but now i cant get the partially downloaded app to delete off the iphone, nor will it sync and the fully downloaded one get installed. itunes says installing then it finishes, but its not there. just the greyed out icon that says loading. It never syncs, even thou itunes says it is installed. i have tried resetting the iphone, i have tried a restore, nothing. Anyone have any ideas, would be greatly appreciated.

Can you delete the app directly on the iPhone? Alternatively, in iTunes, uncheck the app, sync, then check the app and sync again.

I have the same issue witha slight variation. The app icons that are grayed out and cannot be deleted are DUPLICATES of other apps that I already have. For instance I now have 2 Redbox apps - one works normally, the other cannot be opened or deleted.

Any Apps purchased with your Apple ID can be downloaded again, no charge. Tap Apps icon, tap purchases. This should pull up App Store and past purchases. Apps made on another ID must be downloaded with that ID ( my sons and I share a library on the computer! but have separate IDs.

You can allow the app to finish downloading. The app doesn't require memory (RAM) until you open and use the app.

ITunes Deleting All My Downloaded Apps! :(

Hi All,
I have been using my iPad for quite a while and I have downloaded like 20 apps directly from the App Store on my iPad. I just installed iTunes on a new computer and whenever I sync apps it deletes the ones I have downloaded directly. I assume this is because it's a new installation of iTunes and there are no apps in the library. So synching (miror right in this case) deletes everything.
My question is.. how do I put everything on my iPad back into iTunes? I want to sync the other way (mirror left).

Please let me know why this has happened. I just discovered that half of my music library (all the files that I imported/ripped from my CD's) is gone!
How is it possible that half my music library with many songs included on my playlists is suddenly deleted? I have checked my hard drive and the files and folders have been deleted. I want to know what software is responsible and don’t give me the virus and P2P conspiracy theory. This is deletion by design.

Partially Downloaded Apps

Hi, I have an iPhone 4 running OS4.2
I started to download an app that was bigger than 20mb and needed to be downloaded over wi-fi. I had to leave before the app was even half way downloaded. I tried holding it down for a few seconds and deleting it like normal but there is no (x) on it. How can I delete it? I dont have ready access to wi-fi to finish downloading it, but I do have my computer that has internet access. I tried downloading it from iTunes but it wont let me buy it again. Thanks in advance.

You can re-download a purchased app with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

Since the app hasn't been fully downloaded yet, at the iTunes menu bar go to Store and select Check For Available Downloads.

Yes it will stop other downloads on the iPad until you can get rid of it. Have you tried the really standard, basic stuff - restart, reset the iPad?
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

How do I permanently delete a partial download from itunes?

I have 2 tv shows that were taking too long to download so I stopped them and deleted them. But they keep coming back. Any ideas on how to get rid of them completely? Thanks in advance!

You cannot remove items from the queue yourself other than by letting the download complete. If you don't want to do this then contact support and ask them to remove the items for you. You should still be able to download them from your purchase history at a later date.

How do I permanently remove or delete a partially downloaded HD movie from my iPhone?

I purchased a movie in HD from my iPhone, which I now know can't be done. It started downloading and is now frozen in "Processing" mode. I can pause the processing but is there some way to permanently delete the download from my iPhone? I have already synced the movie to a laptop so I am not worried about losing it.

Ok, I'm on iTunes...it looks fine now, I updated all, but there still is no icon showing on my iPad, it shows. On the left side of my setting on the iPad it shows netflix, but no icon......netflix said this is an apple problem.

I started a download of a huge app and stopped it partway. Now I would like to delete the partial download, but the little X does not appear on the icon. I can't delete it via sync, either. Does anyone know the procedure for removing this partial download from my phone? Thanks

OK i've had the same problem (but with an ipgod touch 4th gen). here is why, if you disconnect ur ipod/iphone to wifi and the app is partially downloaded then the app will turn grey and say waiting...
do not turn off/restart your ipod/iphone, it only makes things worse.
you have to go back to where you were connected to wifi/internet and wait for it to continue the download.
you have to finish downloading an app to delet it.

How to delete partial download of Mavericks

Hi,
I started to download Mavericks on my Mac Book Pro and then paused it about half way through. Reviewing the comments that others have had, I'd like to delete the partial download and wait to load Mavericks when some of the bugs are worked out. However, I can't figure out how to delete the partial download. Already my Mac is running much slower than it used to. Any ideas?

You cannot until App Store finishes the download or cancels it. You cannot cancel it but you can turn Pause off to continue.
There is nothing wrong with Mavericks. It certainly works as well for me as did Mountain Lion.
Nevertheless, after the download is completed the installer will launch on its own. If you prefer to do nothing, then just Quit the installer.
