Deleting a program completely to reinstall

I want to completely delete FINAL CUT PRO and reinstall but after the reinstallation process the program will not open
I think it is still reading some files left over from previous installation
i deleted everything from applications so where else do i need to go to find left over files so i can do a new full installation?

Move the folder /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support to the desktop and try reinstalling Final Cut Pro again. Some of your settings may be reset to the defaults. If it still doesn't work, move all Final Cut Pro related items from ~/Library/Preferences/ to the desktop and try again.

Use the uninstaller that came with the disk (should be in your Office folder), then reinstall from the disk and run update.

  • After updating my latest iTunes, the currupted program won't open or start, even tried deleting the program and reinstall.

On my Windows 7, my latest iTune, after udating to the latest version, I cannot open or start the program.  I even deleted the program from my system and then reinstall/download iTune from Apple Store, but the same problem persist.  Anyway to get back my iTune back?

    Hey there nkg0319,
It sounds like you have uninstalled the iTunes application but you are still not able to launch it after a recent update. I would recommend uninstalling the iTunes application and its associated files with the following article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Then download iTunes again, with this link:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • HT1923 Reinstalling iTunes, but unable to delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\.  I have admin status, but I get an error saying "Destination Folder Access Denied"

Following instruction to reinstall iTunes, uninstalled iTunes and related components, verified all deleted.  Need to delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ manually, but am getting and error that says "Destination Folder Access Denied".  I do have admin status on my user account.  What's next?  Many of the files in these directories are Mobile Me and iCloud, should I uninstall those too?

I have the same problem and it looks like others do too. I have spent far too much time trying to find a solution but nothing has worked so far.
Does "end windows explorer for the processing menu" mean to end explorer.exe in the processes window in Windows Task Manager?  Does "start new task" means File-New Task in Windows Task Manager?  If so, the solution does not work for me.
Any other suggestions would be deeply appreciated.
    Thank you.

You might try to see if you can restore your iWork documents from an earlier point in time by using Time Machine.  To do this, Open Finder and navigate to “~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~Pages/Documents” (without the quotes) from the Go>Go to Folder menu.  Then launch Time Machine, go back in time until you see your pages documents, then select them, click Restore and exit Time Machine.  Then repeat this from "~/Library/Mobile Documents/com~apple~Numbers/Documents" to restore your Number documents.

It took about an hour to upgrade my iphone. You're also left a couple of times with a blank screen on the iphone whilst it does things in the background which is a bit confusing. Suggest you wait - it starts doing things again (like reload your apps and then your photos etc) after you think it's finished. It's finished only when it says it is.....

It should be listed under the Purchases section of the Mac App Store if you bought it from there - at least I'd hope it would be!

  • How to backup with Time Machine for complete clean reinstall of OS

My iMac has been getting slower and slower as the months go by and with each new software update. It used to be a lot faster than this when it was new.
I'm thinking the best solution might be to do a complete clean reinstall of the OS. My question is, if I have Time Machine backing up of all the users Documents, Email, Address, Book, iTunes Library, and iPhoto Library files, can I just go ahead and blow away everything on the machine? That is, after reinstallation, can I just plug in the hard drive, turn on Time Machine and get all those data files back in the right place without difficulty?
Or am I better off meticulously and manually moving the appropriate files/directories to an external harddrive and then fitting them all back into place manually afterwards?
(NOTE: I used to have to do a clean re-installation of XP every year or so to keep the system nice and snappy -- it would invariably get slower and slower over time. Since I got my iMac (Tiger) I had never had this creeping slowness problem, why is it happening now with Leopard?)

    slegge,
This might give you some ideas.
Using Time Machine to Restore You Entire System
Q: Can I restore my Mac from a Time Machine backup?
A: Yes, you have several options: (In all cases Mac OS 10.5 Leopard is required as previous OS X versions will not work with Time Machine backups.)
*Full Restore Via Migration Assistant & Time Machine*
You can use the installation DVDs that came with your Mac and reinstall Leopard (Mac OS 10.5). During the installation process you will be asked if you would like to Migrate data over from your Time Machine backups. The advantage here is that you start with fresh system software. The disadvantage is that you may lose many of the personal preferences/settings that had been established with the previous system. But this may be only a minor inconvenience to reestablish these. Depending on whether you choose to migrate your applications over as well, you may be required to reinstall any 3rd-party software or standalone Apple programs. Don’t forget to run Software Update once the initial installation is complete to bring your system up to date. Using Disk Utility at this point to repair any permissions issues is advised as well.
*Full Restore Via Time Machine Only*
Alternatively, you can use the installation DVDs to do a full system restore. Insert the installation DVD. When the welcome window appears, go to the Utilities menu and select “Restore System From Backup…” and choose the drive that your Time Machine backups are on. Then select the date of the backup you would like to restore from. This will completely erase your internal drive and restore your system to a relatively same condition it was in on the date of the backup you choose. (See this article for a list of files that TM does not restore, http://shiftedbits.org/2007/10/31/time-machine-exclusions/) The advantage here is that you retain many of the personal preferences/settings that had been established with the previous system. Additionally, no further installation of 3rd-party software is required. The disadvantage is that BECAUSE you retain many of the personal preferences, settings, and system files that had been present with the previous system, you run the risk of reintroducing problems you experienced with the previous installation, including any issues that necessitated the OS reinstall in the first place. Using Disk Utility at this point to repair any permissions issues is advised as well.
    *Full Backup After Restore*
Bear in mind that in all cases Time Machine will perform a full backup after a full restore. This is normal. Time Machine will resume incremental backups after the full backup has completed. To view previous backups, Control-click or right-click the Time Machine icon in your Dock or Option-click the Time Machine menu extra and Choose "Browse Other Time Machine Disks," then select your previous backup volume. You will enter Time Machine and be able to browse your previous back ups and restore files. (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1338)
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers!

Hi, I downloaded get tube from google on my i mac and now want to delete the app completely, how can I do so?

Get AppZapper, a free program that removes apps.  Make sure everything has been removed by checking with Spotlight once the app has been zapped.

  • HT1925 cannot delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\

I am tryng to remove & reinstall iTunes and cannot delete C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ because the folder or a file in it is open in another program.  No clue what that other program would be.

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for some tips on cleaning up... Unlocker might be the tool in this case.

  • How do I delete C:program files (x86)/common files/apple

    How do I delete C:program files (x86)/common files/apple ?
There is a prompt which says that the folder or file is in use in another program.
I am trying to uninstall all Apple progams as suggested by apple support because iTunes won't communicate with my iPod

    Hello RooDogg,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like there may be a program or service still running that is utilizing this folder. You can double check by making sure the 6 components are uninstalled from the Control Panel:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    1. iTunes
    2. QuickTime
    3. Apple Software Update
    4. Apple Mobile Device Support
    5. Bonjour
    6. Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
If the above are already uninstalled, restart your computer and then confirm that the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ can be removed. If it cannot, follow the additional steps at the bottom of the article (referring to iPodService.exe).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Hold the home and power button down until your phone restarts. If that doesn't work, backup and restore using iTunes.

  • ITunes won't open, even after complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes/Qktime

    Hello
This morning iTunes started refusing to open. When opened it bounces twice and then closes.
Strange, because I didn;t just update. It worked fine after my last update and up until the present. I'm not sure but it could have started happening after I plugged in my iPod Touch 16gb 2.0. I did that sometime this morning.
I did a complete uninstall/reinstall of both Itunes and Quicktime, and I also uninstalled Flip to Mac as I read here it could be related. Restarted my computer many times. Now, same problem, iTunes won't start.
I live in noisy Barcelona and i'm going crazy without tunes...

Update... so i backed up files from three folders shown below:
    'User'/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/
    'User'/AppData/Local/Apple Computer/
'User'/Music/iTunes/(all files except music and app folders)
Then I uninstalled iTunes & Quicktime
    Restarted Machine
Reinstalled iTunes (which reinstalls Quicktime as well)
Opend iTunes to make sure it worked (it did), then closed it.
Copied all of the original files back over to their original locations.
    Restarted iTunes
Everything appears to be back to normal (iPhone sync works properly as well)
Hope this helps for anyone else seeking an answer!
    Kyle
