Deleting a system in RSA1

Hello,
We have completed a system refresh of our BI prod to a test system.  Upon running bdls, I noticed that we have a foren system listed under "RSA1".  This system however is a production system that we do not need listed as a source.
I would like to delete/remove this system from the source tree, however, is there any chance removing this system may affect the production system?  i.e.  is it safe to delete systems in rsa1 in our test environment w/out having to ever worry about an rfc call in the background that could cause issues with the production system, etc?
Thank you very much everyone for any info on this matter.
Kind Regards
Richard Rog

Hi,
You can just delete the Source System in BW. All changes in configuration will be done ONLY in BW.
If you want to feel even better just go to SM59 and delete the RFC to that Production System from there and go to WE20 and delete the Partner Profile at once. You can also delete the entry for the system in table "RSBASIDOC" or even run the function
"RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT" on SE37...
But, again, you'll be fine just deleting the Source System.
Regards,
Luis
I think you need an active RFC connection to the Source System to be able to delete. I think that happen to me once. But, anyways, no impact in your Source System.

  • Delete source systems...

    Hello,
When I delete a source system in RSA1 (not used, not existing in SM59) and then refresh the list, the deleted system pops up again. Why is this? How can I fix it? Must I delete the entry directly in source table? Which table contains the source systems?

    Hello,
I have checked all tables and deleted the entries where they existed. However, the problem still persists...! There is no error message when deleting source systems  (in RSA1) and at first they disappear. But on refresh, they appear again... Strange...

  • SAP Source System showing up as BI Source System in RSA1

I have 2 BW systems and 2 CRM Systems.  In one BW system, when I create a SAP Source system in RSA1, It gets listed as a SAP Sources system along with ECC and all the rest.
The Logicial Systems and RFC Connections all appear to be the same between each pair.
In the other system, using identical procedure, it the source system gets listed as a BI Source System.  The 2 CRM systems have identical components and version levels as do the 2 BW systems.
Any idea why and if this would make any difference and how to correct.

    Hi,
To fix this, you need to do a restore (& not a delete) of the source system in BW, having deleted the RSBASIDOC entry in the source OLTP system.
This will force the BW system to interrogate the RSBASIDOC table entry in the source system again and it should then realise that it is an R/3 system (not a BW system) and move the entry to the SAP folder.

  • Error when creating SAP source-system in RSA1

    hi,
we have a new bi-installation. the bi-system is running in the SAME system as our erp 2005-system is running.
the bi-client is 700, our source-system (FI/CO) client is 101. I want to create a source-system in RSA1. at the end i get the following error message:
<b>Name D01MAND700 of client 700 is not the same as the name D01MAND101 of the Warehouse
    Message no. R3225
    Diagnosis
In order to guarantee error-free communication between the source system and the SAP Business Information Warehouse, the logical system names must be known to both.
The system has established that the selected source system name D01MAND101 in the SAP Business Information Warehouse is not the same as the logical system name D01MAND700.
    System Response
Processing has been terminated and all changes undone.
    Procedure
Create the source system under the name D01MAND700 in the SAP Business Information Warehouse or change the logical system name for client 700 to D01MAND101 in the ALE customizing screen of the source system.
Note that the logical system name for client 700 may already be being used for other ALE scenarios. If this is the case you are not able to change the name.</b>
i don't understand this error ? is it because the BI-system and the erp-system is the SAME system ?

    mr. kapadia,
there is one entry in table rsbasidoc, and it looks like that:

  • Disconnet a Source system from RSA1

    Hi!
I changed all the neccessary BW objects from one SAP ECC system to another one in my SAP BW system via tcode BDLS (e.g. EC1CLNT500 --> EC2CLNT500).
Now I would like to delete the old entry of EC1CLNT500 in RSA1 --> source systems.
When I do so I get the following error:
Source system cannot be deleted in Content system
    Message no. RSAR670
    Diagnosis
If a source system is deleted in the Content system, the shadow tables
for all source system-dependent objects for this source system release are also deleted. You can configure a user as a non-Content user by using a SET-GET parameter. You can then use this user to delete the system, and then the above-named objects are not changed duringdeletion.
    System Response
    The function is completed.
    Procedure
Logon as user ACTIVATE, and repeat your actions.
Can some one tell me how to proceed here?
    regards
    Jürgen

    Hi!
The table RSBASIDOC does not have the entry for new SAP BW system that I would like to disconnect.
Only the value of the old SAP BW system is there...
    How to proceed?
    Thank you!

  • How to delete source system in BI system

    Dear Experts ,
recently we finished client copy in BI production system to quality system,
now we are facing problem with source system connections in bI system
in RSA1 APO production system's source system is comes to BI quality system now i need to delete that APO source system in BI quality system ..please let me the process how can i delete source in BI quality
can i delete it as below
log in into BI quality system --> RSA1 --> select source system which i need to deletse --> right click & delete
or we have any other process to delete it.
    Regards

    Hi Swathimatta,
Apart from the two ways to delete the source system:
1.- log in into BI quality system --> RSA1 --> select source system which i need to deletse --> right click & delete
    2.- Execcuting the FM 'RSAP_BIW_DISCONNECT.
If you cannot delete the source system:
Use fuction module RSAR_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_DELETE to delete
    the source system:
    1 - Go to SE37.
    2 - Run fuction module RSAR_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_DELETE.
3 - Fill with the parameters as mentioned below:
          I_LOGSYS          = FUENTE
          I_FORCE_DELETE    = X
          I_NO_TRANSPORT    =
          I_NO_AUTHORITY    =
Or follow the recommendations from note 140276, Solution 2:
"You cannot delete the source system. Two cases have to be distinguished:
o  The source system still exists.
Switch to Transaction SM59. Find the destination which has the
same name as the logical system of the source system from field
SLOGSYS in table RSBASIDOC (see above).
           -  Such a destination does not exist in Transaction SM59. In this
case, you have to create the destination to the source system.
Name the destination equal the entry in SLOGSYS from above.
Then return to the Administrator Workbench and repeat the
              deletion.
           -  The entry exists but a remote login is not possible. Correct
              the communication parameters.
           -  Everything works. Change to Transaction SE37, function module
              RSAR_LOGICAL_SYSTEM_DELETE, Sngl. test. Parameter I_LOGSYS =
              <log. name of the source system>, I_FORCE_DELETE = 'X'.
o  The source system no longer exists or was replaced with another
source system with the same IP address.
Proceed as described in the first case but make sure, that the
field 'Target host' contains a not existing server in the
maintenance screen of the destination (Transaction SM59). If
necessary, change an existing entry. Later when you delete, the
system asks you whether you want to delete, although the source
system is not available. Select 'Ignore'. "
I hope it can help you.
    Regards,
    Fran.

  • Delete source system fails

I've got a flat file source system definition which I deleted via rsa1 --> source system --> right-click --> delete.  it deleted all the dependant objects (transfer rules, psa, EDI config, etc), but the system still shows up in RSA1.  There's an entry in table RSBASIDOC referencing this source system (field SLOGSYS), because we manually tried creating a basic idoc type for it (which we now can't delete with tcode WE20 since it's been generated).
Does anyone know off hand how to get rid of the source system in the RSA1 list?
    Thanks!
    Rich

    Hi Rich -
I guess the SAP Note (967999) applies in your case. I've pasted it below for your reference.
    Symptom
In the source system tree of the Administrator Workbench (AWB), you use the 'Delete' function in the context menu (right mouse button) for a connected source system.
Even though the system displays success message RSAR 262:
    Source system & deleted
at the end in the status line, the source system connection is visible again after the AWB has been updated and the source system connection has not been deleted.
    Other terms
Context menu, source system tree, right mouse button, delete source system, RSAR, 262, 620, SLG1, RSAR262, RSAR620, AdminWorkbench
    Reason and Prerequisites
This problem is caused by a program error.
An error occurs during the deletion, however the system does not inform you correctly of this at the end, after the deletion process has terminated.

  • Deleting Source System

    Dear friends,
I have some doubts, i was delete one source system to create a new in same system,
when try to create the new  same data and objctes there are, what can i do to create a new soure system in the same system but without old objects ( cubos, dso's etc ) ??? i want to retransport all objects again.
    Thanks in advance.
    Fabrício

Once you delete the source system, the objects which are related to that would be deleted.
you have to re-create it or transport it to the source system.
in RSA1, you have a option to create your source system. Before that, you have to check whether the logical system, RFC connection for the source system are created or not?
    Hope this would help you.

  • How can I delete a system?

A couple of years ago I had trouble with my HD so to play safe I installed another one and put a new system onto it. I meant to use it for a few days to make sure it worked and then delete the old system, but I forgot! I know most people say you should never have two systems but it's never given me any problems.
The troublesome drive seems Okay now so I've decided to empty it and use it as a scratch disc but I can't delete the old system folder. It says it's a read only file and belongs to the system so I'm not allowed to touch it.
Anyone know how to get rid of it?
    Thanks in advance.

Okay you caught me! When I said "empty the drive and use it as a scratch disc" I meant NEARLY empty the drive. There are a couple of old programs that I use occasionally and I can't find their install discs.
Is there any other way of deleting a system folder?

  • Won't boot from install discs after deleting some system files

I've been looking through the forum and haven't found an answer to my problem - maybe someone can help me out.
I have an aluminum Powerbook G4, 1.67, 1.5 RAM, 10.4.11. I was experiencing the problem with FCE capturing video for about 5 minutes and then freezing, and I read some threads here about how this can be fixed by returning to Quicktime 7.2 and installing it with Pacifist. I did this, but first tried to delete my previous Quicktime version files, and obviously I deleted some system files in the process. That's how my new problem started.
Programs now that do not open - Preview, iTunes, iMovie, FCE, Yahoo, Mail, and Microsoft Messenger. I no longer have my date/time/battery level/airport/bluetooth indicators in my toolbar. The Spotlight icon flashes, but will not open. Also, when opening the System Preferences pane, it opens just for a second or two and then crashes and closes. Safari, airport, and Word all work, though, and I still can access internet.
I tried to re-install OS 10.4 from my black install disc. The computer reads the disc, but after I click the installer icon and then "restart," the computer fails to completely reboot. The disc spins in the drive, I get the Apple, the indicator, and then the screen goes to blue and the disc soon stops spinning. Nothing happens after that. I've tried rebooting by holding down the C key but the same happens. When I hold down the option key, I get to the point where I can choose to boot from the install disc, and then the same thing happens - the blue screen and nothing more. Booting with the shift key held down doesn't work either.
I did just have a repair by Apple - my adaptor plug sparked when inserting it into the outlet, and I had to have the logic board replaced. But the computer seemed to be working fine when I got it back, except for the FCE issue first mentioned. Looks like my good intentions have done me in.
The install disc is about three years old, and is in good condition. It's been in the garage, so could heat or cold affect the readability of the disc?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can boot from my install disc and get a fresh install of my OS?

    Hi bboross,
Tough without a Tiger Disk, but try fsck...
To use fsck, you must run it from the command line. Unlike using your mouse to open an application to do something, you'll need to type a text command at the prompt (#) to tell fsck what to do. The Terminal application (/Applications/Utilities) and single-user mode are two examples of command-line interfaces in which you can type such commands. To use fsck:
    1. Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line. Hold CMD+s keys down at bootup.
Note: If necessary, perform a forced restart as described in the Emergency Troubleshooting Handbook that came with your computer. On desktop computers, you can do this by pressing the reset/interrupt button (if there is one) or holding down the power button for several seconds. On portable computers, simultaneously press the Command-Control-power keys. If your portable computer doesn't restart with this method, you may need to reset the Power Manager.
    2. At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
(space between fsck and -fy important)
    3. Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (nameofvolume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
*** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED ***

Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
    4. When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.

  • Unable to Create Source system in RSA1

I have installed a BI Server(Netweaver 2004s). When i try to add source system in RSA1, it gives an error "No entry for BW_USER in table RSADMIN available"
Let me tell what all i tried.
    1) i clicked on settings>global settings- it gives a blank page. when i switch it to change mode, there is a button called "Position" and then "Entry1 of 2". I cant enter any value there and when i click on "Position" button, it says "Table RSADMINAV has no relevant fields"
    2) In se16 tried to maintain RSADMINA table and for BW User field, i gave BW_USER, but there is no "execute" Button. all i see is "Reset" button. i tried pressing F8 key, it wont do anything. I clicked on save but it says "the entry is already exist"
Regarding RFC - i created a user BW_USER in ERP Sytem and ERP_USER in BI server and both the user type are System user.
From both the server i tried to do Connection test and i am not getting any error. but if i try clicking Remote Connection, it wont connect and wont do anything and no Errors.
Please help me Resolving this Issue, Since it became a very critical issue.

    Hi,
Can you check  if there is any other user ID specified in "BW user for ALE".
To check, Go to transaction RSA1 --> Settings --> Global Settings.
If you find a different user id there, then specify the correct BW user id there.
Please refer to OSS Note 410952 for details.
    Hope this solves your problem!!

  • Source system in RSA1 is diiferent to the datasource in infoprovider

    Dear Guru's
I have created a quality source system in RSA1 tcode for client 210 but in my infoprovider it shows me of diiferent datasource ie for client 200 and i need this client to be 210 so kindly help me to resolve this issue
    Regards
    Mohammed

    HI,
Do you want to change all the assignments from client 200 to 210. Or is it for this particular Infoprovider (you have mentioned) and the relevant transformations.
    Does
    1) both clients exists as your source systems or
    2) client 200 is to be replaced by client 210.
In the second scenario, you can refer this article. Contact your BASIS team for guidance.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/805eefcd-5428-2d10-c0ab-dc27a95b2c81
For scenario 1, if you want to load data from 210 client to this particular Infoprovider , replicate the datasource for client 210 in BI side and create new transformation, Infopackage and DTP from the datasource to the target.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    hari.
