Deleting Account Annotations in Hyperion Planning

We used the copy application to create a new app for next year's budget. I'm trying to clear out the account annotations. I have cleared the tables shown below, but they still show up when I view account annotations in Planning. I thought that maybe I needed to clear HSP_ANNOTATION, but this table looks like it has comments for the task lists.
Here are the tables I cleared - does anyone know what I missed?
HSP_CELL_NOTE
HSP_CELL_NOTE_ITEM
HSP_COLUMN_DETAIL_ITEM
HSP_COLUMN_DETAIL
HSP_ACCOUNT_DESC
HSP_ACCOUNT

Thanks Sean!!! This solved my problem. Only thing I realized is that I deleted too much data - I put the data back into some of the tables and restarted planning and everything is fine now. Here are the tables I ended up clearing:
HSP_CELL_NOTE
HSP_CELL_NOTE_ITEM
HSP_ACCOUNT_DESC

  • Cell Text Annotations of Hyperion Planning on Hyperion Financial Reporting

    Hello,
There is a business requirement to show Cell text entered as annotation on each cells in data form to be reported using Hyperion Financial Reporting.
Also there is a case of some of the data types being text. Some of the forms also have supporting details.
Now I want to check how easy or difficult is it to report from Hyperion Planning V11.1.2 for the above mentioned.
Are there any noticeable performance issues?
Is it possible to report the cell text annotations , Supporting details & Datatype 'Text' from data form on Financial Report?
    Thanks in advance,
    XX

I haven't used the text data type, however I have done quite a bit of reporting on supporting detail. All you have to do is use a Hyperion Planning data source instead of an Essbase data source. (and specify on the report to show supporting detail). In general, Hyperion Planning data sources are slightly slower than Essbase data sources. How much slower depends on a lot of factors, but supporting detail can certainly slow things down.
One key limitation with reports that display this type of data is that it doesn't "roll up" the hierarchies. Your report has to be at the same level (in all dimensions) where the supporting detail was entered. So you can't pick an upper level Entity and show all of the supporting detail for it's descendants unless your report also includes the descendants. I understand why this limitation exists, but I routinely have clients that would like this functionality. (For Example - Show me all of the supporting details for the entire plan.)

  • How to delete Hyperion Planning member using ODI

    Hi All,
Anyone know how to delete Hyperion Planning member using ODI? And how to update account type on Hyperion Planning Using ODI?

    Hi,
To delete a member you use the Operation column, the following values can be used.
Update – This is the default and is used if not populated, it Add, updates, moves the member being loaded.
Delete Level 0 - Deletes the member being loaded if it has no children
Delete Idescendants –Deletes the member being loaded and all of its descendants.
Delete Descendants –Deletes the descendants of the member being loaded, but does not delete the member itself.
Does the member you trying to change to Revenue have a variance reporting set to "Expense" as it will need to be set to "Non Expense"
Also in your interface you can add logging options in the IKM, this maybe will give a clearer indication where your problem lies.
    Cheers

  • Data Integration from E-Biz Suite to Hyperion Planning

    Hi Experts,
    I am using EPM 11.1.1.1.0.
I have a requirement of integrating data from Oracle Gl to Hyperion.
I am going to use ODI for achieving the same but i observed a fact in GL around which i need some help.
Oracle GL maintains a relation between the entities and acconuts, (e.g a particular entity budgets against some specific accounts) ,however i do not see how in Hyperion I can replicate the same between the Entity and Accounts dimensions.
Can somebody please put some light on this...?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards.

    Alicia,
It sounds like you're talking about cross-validation rules. There are two issues this lack of functionality presents in Hyperion Planning:
    1) You want forms to be dynamic so that users only see the Entity/Account combinations that are relevant.
    2) You want security to prevent users from sending data to invalid Entity/Account combinations.
Hyperion Planning doesn't support this requirement well, although there are some workarounds to "simulate" cross-dimensional security.
    This post may help explain:
How to enforce valid member combinations in Planning?
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I delete only shared instance of a member from Hyperion Planning

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me how I can instruct the Hyperion Planning IKM to delete a only specific instance of a shared member from Hyperion Planning? I've tried specifying the shared member, the parent of the shared instance, 'Shared' as the data storage type, and 'Delete level 0' as the operation. Instead of deleting just the shared instance under the specified parent, however, the IKM deleted the base member, which in turn deleted all shared instances of the member and all the data for the member (lucky thing I'm working in a development environment!). At one point I thought I had things working as I wanted, but now I think I must have mistaken.
Does anyone know definitively whether only a specific instance of a shared member can be deleted from Planning and, if so, exactly how to do it?
    Thanks very much.

Well, with a careful review of my ODI interfaces and some additional testing I found my problem. My interface for one dimension was defined exactly as it should be and it worked as expected, whereas I found I had failed to activate the mapping for the data storage property in my interface for another dimension (DOH!). Naturally, the latter interface deleted the base member because the default data storage property value is 'Store'.
Thanks for testing and confirming that deleting only a specific shared instance of a member from Hyperion Planning does work, John.
(P.S. to John: I can't see how to change my "Helpful" tag on your first reply to "Correct", so if you want to post another reply, I'll mark it "Correct" (for more points!). Or, if you can tell me how to modify the "Helpful" tag to "Correct" I'll do that instead.)

  • Setting up Balance Account for Balance Sheet in Hyperion Planning

We are using version 11.1.2.1.0.83 of Hyperion Planning. What is the best way to setup a balancing account for the balance sheet? Should it be store, or dynamic calc? Should a Member formula be used or should it be done via a calc script? What would the member formula look like?

Hmm, I give you the answer, you mark it as answered but don't give me any points, and now you ask another question? I only do this for the points. <grin>
I am still curious as to whether this can be accomplished by embedding a member formula in the balancing account and, if so, what the embeded formula script might look like. ^^^The formulas I illustrated and you implemented could be put into a dynamically calculated member. So long as the account to be balanced is first (I am thinking calculation order) the dynamic calc should be just fine. I've used that approach in Planning apps in the past.

  • Deleting Hyperion Planning Server Web on JRUN

How do you delete the Hyperion Planning Server Web services on a Hyperion Planning server? I uninstalled Hyperion Planning and deleted the corresponding folders. However, I still have the services for Hyperion Planning Server Web on JRUN and can't seem to get rid of it. Thoughts anyone?

Go to JRUN installation folder and look for Hyperion Planning and you can delete manually the webservices folder - Hyperion Planning.

    Cheers,
RSHi, the Marked for Delete is nothing to do with deleting shared member.
You can can delete members by using the Operation column and it set to Delete, you will have to provide the member to delete and the storage type of Stored.

  • Hyperion Planning migration error while refreshing/creating Essbase cube

    Hi,
I'm migrating a Hyperion Planning application (11.1.1.4) to a complete other environment (due to the split of the companies). I have read most post on otn, but unfortunately nothing that helped me to solve the issue, yet... I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!
I have executed the following steps:
    1. Create a new Oracle database
    2. Create a datasource to the Oracle database and to Essbase (both tested succesfully)
    3. Create a fresh planning application (I have used a native Admin account and not the original owner)
    4. Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
    5. Go into the database planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created - I did not do this since I could not delete this value. null is not accepted.
    6. Stop Planning
    7. Restore the planning application database over the one created in the first step (I had to drop the existing tables first)
    8. Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
    9. Start planning
    10. Log on to planning and I did see the webforms, etc as expected.
    11. Now, when I try to refresh the database, I receive an error:
    Cube refresh/create in progress
    Status failed
    Step 4 Adding dimensions
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: getAttributeType
Does anyone has an idea? Hope someone can help me since the deadline is getting closer and closer.
    Thanks!
    Kind Regards
    Martin

    Hi John,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have exactly done what you have described. I droped the schema and recreated it with an impdp to import.
But, in the meantime I have been investigating the dimensions and there's indeed something very wrong. Some dimensions have been mixed up. In the 'old' environment I have 10 stored dimensions and 4 attribute dimensions (as well as in EAS as in Planning, offcourse as you expect). In the 'new' environment, two stored dimensions have been mixed up with two attribute dimensions.... How is that possible?
I have never seen that. Could this be caused by the reason that we use a different version of Oracle (11G release 2 vs 10G (10.2.0.4))? Or went something wrong with exporting the schema...? Can you tell me what I can do to investigate this?
    Thanks!
    Kind Regards,
    Martin

  • Data copy in Hyperion Planning taking long time

    Hi All,
    good morning.
I am using data copy in hyperion planning (11 1 2 2) to copy from one scenario to other selecting account annotations and supporting details.
The essbase part of copying data completed (checked sessions), but when I checked the job console in planning it still says processing for past 2 hrs.
My java heap size for planning is 1.5GB and the backed database is SQL server
my suspicion is that the issue was with backend sql. but I don't where to start.
    can anyone please guide me.

I am working with version 11.1.2.1 and running into the same issue. The Supporting detail option works fine if the application has just a few details, let’s say 50 cells, but if we have around 500 cell with details then the copy process never ends, the details are not copied, and I have to restart the Planning service. As a workaround we are using a two steps process. In the first step we copy the just Essbase using the copy data functionality of Planning (with no data copy options enabled) or by using an Essbase calculation script. For the Supporting Details piece we use the Export for Edit functionality of LCM and export them to an XML file, and then we edit the XML file and change the source member name with the target member name, and finally we use the Import after Edit functionality of LCM. Of course if works only if the Planning application was deployed using EPMA.

  • Hyperion Planning Last Login Date

    Hello Everyone,
I have a requirement where in I need to track the usage of the Hyperion Planning application. I need to build a list of inactive or dormant users and clean them up from the application.
In order for me to achieve this, I need the Last Login date into the Hyperion Planning application.
I read about something called Usage Tracking that needed to be turned on. A records gets added into the hsp_audit_records table.
Can someone throw some more light on this ? My requirement is to track the planning apps usage and clean up inactive users.
    Thanks
    RS

    Hi,
we have the same issue: some new users every week and a lot of users not using planning anymore- depending on their always changing role in the company.
only helpful logfile we use to identify inactive/old users is: hbrlaunch.log - it logs the username and the businessrules, they execute.
maybe you regard this approach as a helpful workaround (provided your users run businessrules at all)
users, who run only financial reporting or who open only planning forms to passively review budgets (we have that a lot) , we would delete accidentially by this approach, because if you never save data, you never execute a businessrule attached to a webform.
    but what about following approach:
you create a very small webform called "Confirm my user access", add a very small businessrule named "Confirm user access", which calculates almost nothing and you attach the rule to the form, give access to all users AND use option: "run on load"
by this, the rule get's executed on opening the webform already - you could even show a member in the webform with name "Thanks for confirming your user account - it will remain active"
Only disadvantage: you need to write a mail to all users and explicitly ask them to open that webform and confirm the user access. (Maybe you like that approach)
Alternative might me that you attach the businessrule to the/those webform(s) - especially read-only webforms, where people don't save data or execute businessrules and which are opened most often by all users and don't tell them about that method at all.
You then should get a pretty complete overview of your active users (userid's only I am afraid ) in hbrlaunch.log
in addition, financial reporting has a logfile as well, so you could combine the usage of financial reporting and planning (provided you use it)
pls. note, that the early 9.3.1 financial reporting versions have a bug and the logfile is empty= useless
Assuming you use shared services, you probably have to attach your users into several groups- it maybe helpful to first remove the user from one central group, which blocks their access to planning application or takes the right to open planning forms- you then start your forecast, wait for their complaints and delete them 3 months later completely from all security groups - could save you some work on re-creating their access.
We use the apache http-webserver - you can modify it, so that it's logging all datatransfer - you get there the IP-Adress and the requested application (Hyperion Planning) and the requested webforms logged - but no username.
In the eas console, we see the last logindate, which seems to show the last date, a user requested a financial report against essbase.
We use that information in combination with hbrlaunch.log form businessrules.
we have the hsp_audit_trail switched on for all options-
data: it stores all member, user and time information for every single saved value in the database - so we have between 500.000 and 1 Mio entries - it's especially useful, when your essbase crashes and your backup is a few hours old- you then can use that information to upload the remaining data-entries via smartview/exceladdin - provided you have some hours time to prepare the values in excel.
hspaudittrail useful as well when it comes to discussion, who entered which numbers when.
tracking of businessrule execution: should deliver same results as hbrlaunch.log
other changes being tracked should be meaningless for your requirement, as it tracks the work of the admin-person (Dimensions, Members, Usergroups, Webforms)
    regards

  • Printing Account Annotations in Financial Reporting.

    Hi,
I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1. Wanted to know if it is possible to print account annotations in FR?
    Thanks!

You can insert a text column or row and use the Annotation text function. Here is the usage with some examples:

  • Hyperion Planning Classic vs. BPMA 9.3

    Hi,
We are on Hyperion Planning 9.3 (including all latest patches). We are in the process of building a new Planning application. Currently we donot have an ETL tool and it doesnt seem we will get one for the next few months until our new Planning application is deployed into production. So in a nutshell we wont have an ETL to solve the below problem.
    I have used Planning Classic along with an ETL tool to build my meta-data in past implementations, and havent had a chance to use BPMA. Lately I have started getting aquinted with BPMA and understand some of its advantages. However, I still have a few specific questions;
    1. I know Planning Classic allows manual creation of members, does BPMA allow the same? Or does BPMA have to have flat file or interface table to create or add members? Our business users would be manually creating some members, or for instance change the start or end month of a 'Scenario'. So, does BPMA allow manual editing and pushing of meta-data?
    2. If an application is created via BPMA, they would have to interface via BPMA and not Planning Classic anymore. Is that true?
    3. I understand it is possible to convert a Planning Classic application into BPMA but "NOT" vice versa. Is this true?
    4. Finally, a more difficult question, a more specific question which kinda of dictates the choice for us.
My client would like individual departments do their respective budgeting (noting unusual there). However, most of these departments budget per 'Project' and more specifically like to budget based on 'Project Name' (which are unique and not generic) as opposed to 'Project Numbers' (there isnt a Project number standardization as such yet). The challenge is getting the 'Project Names' into Hyperion Planning (sadly it doesnt exist in ERP/GL yet because these are new projects).
So, though the Finance Team ultimately approves each department's budget, they would like each department be able to create their respective 'Project Names' in Hyperion Planning. And Planning capabilities like supporting detail, etc wouldnt work as they would like variance based on 'Project Names' and be able to slice-n-dice based on 'Project Names'.
Now if we had an ETL tool the above would have been simple, I would have just created an automation to say pick-up a file with 'Project Names' from a pre-determined folder location. However, because we donot have an ETL, I was wondering if BPMA could do the same, i.e., automatically pick-up a file from a folder and create members and refresh Hyperion Planning? Could the 'Batch Processing' in BPMA handle this?
    Appreciate all your responses...

    Hi,
First of all I wouldn't recommend using EPMA until version 11, 9.3.1 was riddled with issues.
To try and answer some of your questions
    1. You can manually maintain members in EPMA if you choose to do so, you need to push it down to planning/essbase if you do make changes.
    2. If the planning app is in EPMA mode then you can't edit/add/delete member information through the classic route, you can view. You still can design forms, task lists etc through planning web.
    3. It is possible but no you are not meant to.
Sounds like you could do with ODI it would make your life easier, are you sure you are not licensed to use it, you may be entitled to use it.
    Cheers
