  • Extract email addresses from email header - Sender (From) - Mail

    Hi!
I would like to extract email addresses from email header from field "Sender (From)" and from email body in Mail at the same time.
I saw only scripts how to extract from email body.
I get emails asking for some informations about product and many people don't include their email address in the body, so I have to extract from email header as well.
I would like to extract email addresses from whole email account, separate alphabeticaly, delete duplicates and save it (separated by comma) in text file.
This I would use for sending massive email to all customers.
    I'm on OSX 10.6.8.
Do you have please somebody script for extracting email addresses in the way:
    1. select mail account
    2. run script
    3. save email addresses to txt file
Thank you for help and advise!

    Hi Neville!
Last time I was writing basic programs in Turbopascal in 1996.
    Maybe I'm doing something wrong...
    1. I switched off in Mail "Use Smart Addresses".
    2. I changed the path to my account in both commands:
    Command A.
    i=~/Library/Mail/[email protected]@pop.gmail.com # Input file path
    o=~/Desktop/ # Output file path
    n=`date "+%y%m%d%H%M%S"`-"addresses" # time stamped file name
    grep -rh From: $i | grep -o '[-a-zA-Z0-9.]*@.[^>]*' | awk '!seen[$0]++' > $o$n
    Command B.
    grep -rh From: ~/Library/Mail/[email protected]@pop.gmail.com | grep -o '[-a-zA-Z0-9.]*@.[^>]*' | awk '!seen[$0]++' > ~/Desktop/`date \"+%y%m%d%H%M%S\"`"
    3. I write commands in TERMINAL.
    result of Command A:
List of couple emails same like before switching of "Use Smart Addresses"
    I answered it already above:
It can extract to .txt file only email addresses from email header which includes after the name as well email address.
    Example:
    From: Neville Hillyer <[email protected]>
If there is in header only the name without the email address then it's not extracted (email is visible after secondary click on the name)
    Example:
    From: Neville Hillyer
I just checked that most of emails I have has in the emailheader only the name without the email address so I miss most of email addresses.
    Result of Command B:
    >
    And nothing going on...
    4. I tried the same in AppleScript editor
    Result of Command A:
Syntax error. A unknown token can’t go after this identifier.
I changed the path but I still get syntax errors
    (instead of i=~/Library... i put i= Users/muzaa/Library...)
    Result of Command B:
Syntax error: A “from” can’t go after this identifier.
    grep -rh From: /Users/radimmuzikant/Library/Mail/[email protected]@pop.gmail.com | grep -o '[-a-zA-Z0-9.]*@.[^>]*' | awk '!seen[$0]++' > ~/Desktop/`date \"+%y%m%d%H%M%S\"`"

  • Delete a incorrect email address from Email history

I accidentally entered an incorrect address email into my 3G S. I sent an email to that address and now it shows in my history.
When i go to send an email to anyone who's name begins with "S" the incorrect address is there at the top of the list. Every other address has the "type" of address, i.e home, work next to it but the incorrect address does not, it just has the email address.
How do i delete either the incorrect address off my phone, please note that it is not anywhere else on my phone, it is not in her "contact info" or how do i clear the "sent email" history?
I have restored the "factory settings" and also done the "press the home key and off button until the phone switches off" trick. Nothing has worked
Please someone help me as it is driving me CRAZY!

The Mail app on the iPhone/iPod Touch does have an option to clear previous recipients. The only way to remove these cached email addresses from the Mail application is restoring the iPhone/iPod Touch as a new phone/iPod. If you restore from backup, the cache is also restored.

  • Deleting addresses from New Message drop-down window

    Hello all,
When I create a New Message in Mail, the FROM drop down menu contains several outdated addresses that I want to delete.  How do I do this?
I am not asking how to delete previous recipient addresses from the TO window.  I know how to do that.
Also, I have already deleted all traces of the old addresses from Accounts.  Yet they stubbornly stay in the my drop down choices as accounts to send email FROM (ones which don't work).
    Thanks,
    _John

Is it possible to delete web addresses from drop down window, when using Safari on my iPhone. I have a bunch of web address i don't want and i can't seem to get my iPhone to save the ones I want. The drop down menu I am refuring to is the one that appears below the web address your typing in!
Any web addresses you want saved, Simply add them as a Book mark

As far as removing sites you have been to and you don't want listed. perform the following steps
    1. Close out of all your Tabbed pages.
    2. Visit any site except the one you have bookmarked or don't want listed.
    3. Go to Settings - Safari -Clear History, Cookies, and Cache, Repeat one more time for good measure.
    4. Now launch Safari, It should not remember any of those sites you visited or searched for. And now you can browse freely. This needs to be repeated anytime you want to erase data search history.

  • Deleting Account from Email Alarm

    Hello-
How do I delete an email account from the list of email accounts listed in the Alarms field of a new iCal event or task?
More specifically, when I add a new event and select the Alarm to notify me via email, it displays three email accounts, but one of these accounts is no longer active and so I want to remove or delete it from the list. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
    Thanks much.

I don't quite understand this. I really don't use AddressBook since I never could satisfactorily transfer my info from Palm software. For certain events I want to send eMail notifications to my wife. Am I supposed to add her eMail address to my personal "Me" card? That seems odd. So how do I send notifications to her?
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • How to delete addresses from Address Book

How do I delete contacts from my Address Book???

I don't understand the question... In particular, I'm not sure what you mean about how deleting e-mail addresses creates "no name entries". If you want to delete a contact, simply select it and choose Edit -> Delete Card (or just hit the delete key). If you want to remove an e-mail address while leaving the contact, select the contact, click the Edit button and then click the red '-' button next to the e-mail address.

  • IMac delete contacts from email address book

How does one delete unwanted contacts from the address book?

Oops! I found it in the toolbar menu. Oh, duh!

  • How to delete addresses from the pop-down list in the "To" line ?

Several times I have entered someones's address incorrectly in my address book. When I correct it at some later time, the incorrect one still appears in the pop-down list when I start typing the name in the To: line. Sometimes I don't look closely and the old, incorrect address gets entered (and then I never hear back from the person!). So how do I delete the incorrect ones? I've tried everything I can think of.
    Thanks.
    John

Those are probably coming from your previous recipients list.
Open Mail, Click on Window, Previous Recipents, and delete any that you don't want.

  • How to export addresses from email (AppleScript possible?)

I have a mailing list sign up form on a website that sends an email to me when someone has signed up, letting me know their name, email, and why they signed up.
I have a smart mailbox set up to display only these messages.
Is it possible to export to a .csv to .txt file all of the names and addresses of these messages?

    Hi there.
I have a similar situation to the original poster in this thread: I have about 13850 messages (from different senders and some with attachments) from the last six or so years collected into a single Mail.app mailbox. I need to send/distribute these to some (mostly non-Mac OS X) colleagues. I'm attempting to use the AppleScripts by Andreas Amann - my compliments and thanks for his efforts to save in mbox format (other suggestions?). Specifically, I'm trying to use the "Archive Messages" script to 'export' these messages to a single file.
However, when running this script, I get the spinning beachball for both the Archive Messages and the Mail program. The Archive Messages window shows a spinning barber-pole and displays "Processing Messages in Mailbox." Also, the programs report as not responding in their dock icons and in the force quit window. The activity monitor shows them 'running' and doing activity, etc. and hogging the CPU. The LED on the disk seems disturbingly unlit.
This seems to be running forever. It ran overnight with no output (not even an empty file) at which time I stopped it for concern that it was doing nothing.
    My questions are:
    1) Is there any way to ascertain whether or not something useful is actually happening?
    2) If there is something useful being done, is there anyway to tell how far through the mailbox the process reached?
    3) Also, does this script do anything substantially different than selecting the bunch of messages and doing a File->Save As?
    4) Any other suggestions?

  • In Mail 3.6 how can I delete address from the drop down menu?

When I update an email address in the Address Book, the drop down menu in a new email is still the old address.

I think I figured it out. I have to click on the arrow beside the smart address in a new email and delete it there. I tried removing previous recipients but without success. I'm not sure what the name of my software is. Maybe snow leopard. How can I find that?
Thanks for the suggestion and it probably helped a lot of other users and would have helped me if I knew the software.

  • Deleting addresses from Mail!

O.K. this sounds simple. When I go to write an e-mail (Mail 4.4)...If I put the first letter of the name in the TO that's fine....the names with all that letter come up. But, There are a lot of names and e-mail addresses that come up that are NOT in my address book. I recall some of them were from e-mails I've gotten or responded to in the past, but no longer use or am I in communication with that person. They are NOT in my Address Book. (Where are they?)
Where are they coming from? How can I delete them? Thanks

I have seen this issue arise from certain actions of the Time Machine, which was somehow restoring the file. Are you using Time Machine? Also from a corrupt file in the data base for the Address Book.
Got to rush away, but will check in later. Please read the discussion at the link below, and then respond in this topic:

  • Delete missing from email screen

I no longer have a delete button when I open up an email or when i'm in the folder list view.  Is there a setting to get it back?

Close out of the mail app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
    then check emails again.

    No other details.

Use these steps to remove saved (form) data from a drop-down list:
#highlight an entry in the drop-down list
#press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

I stop past email addresses I have sent to going in to my contacts?
I delete them from my contact and they reappear.
    Thanks

They're probably in Mail's previous recipients window. Click the Window menu, then Previous Recipients. You can search for and delete addresses from here.
