Deleting album called "Photos" under iPhoto

After importing my iPhoto library, three folders showed up in Aperture. A "root" folder called iPhoto, and two sub-folders - "events" and "Photos." The import was to add iPhoto to the Aperture library (masters). I have re-organized the event projects out of the iPhoto folder. Now all that is left is the album titled "photos." My question is this - can I now delete this folder. When I place the cursor over it, it says "2046 versions."

Delete Album will only remove the album. The image masters reside in a project and will remain there.
Deleting a folder will remove everything in it to the trash. If there are projects in the folder all the masters in the project go to the trash. Remove any projects you need first. Allan

  • When syncing my iphone it loaded photos from my PC onto my phone and created another photo album called Photo Library and I cant delete them

When I synced my iphone4 it downloaded some photos from my PC onto my phone and created a new album called Photo Library.  I cannot delete these photos on my phone.  I have tried another sync and made sure that the photo sync box was not ticked.  It asked me if I wanted to delete previously downloaded photos off my phone and I said yes but it did not delete them.

I may have misread your post.  If you are trying to remove the photos synced from your computer you should be able to do this by unchecking Sync Photos on the Photos tab and syncing.  If you did this and the photos are still there then something failed.  You might try rechecking Sync Photos, syncing, then uncheck Sync Photos and syncing again to see if it works this time.

  • So I had pictures in an album called photo library and when i backed up my iphone to my computer, the pictures disappeared from my phone. They were pictures that had originally been transferred from my blackberry to my iphone

I had pictures that I transferred from my blackberry to my iphone and they were in an album labeled photo library. my phone needed to be replaced so I backed it up to my computer and now my photos are gone. The camera roll pictures are still there but my 800 photos from my blackberry are gone. does anyone know where i can recover them from? are they gone forever? any help would be much appreciated. thank you

I transferred my photos (I cant recall how i did) from my old blackberry to my new iphone.
    Okay.
i also imported the photos to iphoto but it was only the pictures from the last six months (camera roll).
    Okay.
I dunno if this information is useful but the photos im trying to recover were in an album called photo library and they were permanent and couldnt be edited or deleted on the iphone.
These photos were never on your Mac. iPhoto only imports from the Camera Roll. You'd have needed to use a 3rd party app to get any other photos from your phone.

I have a iPhone 5.  In usage, it says i have 2.1 gigs used because of photos and camera.  I have deleted all my photos via iPhoto and now reset the phone back to factory settings in order to try to solve this problem, to no avail.   Both iTunes  and the phone say that 2.1 gigs are being used, even though the phone now has nothing on it.  What is going on?

Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

  • IPad 1,  how to delete albums in photo?

I have an ipad1 with ios5+  operating on it. I want to delete albums in photo. How do it do it?

    1. If album was created directly on the iPad then you should be able to delete it using the Edit button.
    2. If album was synced from a computer then it can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to reconnect the iPad to your computer's iTunes, de-select that album/folder on the Photos tab and re-sync.

  • I deleted all my photos on iphoto and want to restore them back

I deleted all my photos on iphoto library and then i deleted it in trash too and now I want to retrieve all those photos back! Is it possible?

    Well that's a lesson learned.
File Salvage - you can download a free trial and it will scan the disk for you and tell you with might be recoverable. Actual recovery will require that you purchase the app. There may be many files with the same or similar names. Always recover the largest file size.
There are other such apps. Search on Macupdate or the App Store

I am not able to see the photos under iphoto on my apple TV 2nd generation. I am using the same apple ID on both my mac and Apple TV. I ahve two apple iDs. It is a bit confusing.

Follow the instructions in this Apple support article. Although the article refers to using photos with the screen saver it is also how you share photos with Apple TV in general.

  • Albums, Events & Photos in iPhoto not showing in iTune to Sync

I have been syncing photos between my macbook and all my apple devises without problems until about 2 weeks ago. Basically every photo I have imported into iPhoto or creating new albums and any organising of these photos in iPhoto is now not shown in the Photo Tab in iTunes to allow me to sync. Even albums deleted in iPhoto is still shown in iTunes. Have been reading as much discussion as I can find in different locations but cannot find one that fits my issue. Maybe I am blind but would appreciate any help from anyone out there. I sync selected photos to my iPhone and iPad, especially my iPad which I use for presentations and now I cannot do it.
    Thanks in advance.

Has anyone have an answer to this. Am still in the same position where I cannot get update from my iPhoto in the iTunes to sync. HELP please.

  • Hidden & Recently deleted Albums in Photos  on IOS 8

Having just updated to IOS8 and lost iPhoto without warning I am trying to get my head round the new features in Photos.
If I want to clear space how can I do that if the deleted items are now moved into a Recently Deleted Album?
    And
If the point of the Hidden Album is to hide photos how do you stop someone looking at them if all you have to do is tap on the album and it opens?
Sorry if I am missing the obvious!
And does anyone know of a replacement photo editing app please! I need to have something where I can add titles, at my age I will never remember where the heck I took the photo otherwise!

OK, I've got a similar, but more irritating, problem.
My iPad Air 16GB had too many photos on, using up nearly 4GB of space.  So I archived these photos and got rid of all but about 25.
In the next couple of weeks I was a lot better at housekeeping my photos and deleted them every couple of days.
Next time I wanted to do an iTunes sync, I noticed Photos was still taking up about 4 GB.  Hmm, so I had a look on the net and saw the recently deleted photos "feature" and how to deal with it.  Great I said to myself and went to the "recently deleted" folder where it had only about 40 photos.  So i deleted these i.e. ALL the photos in "recently deleted".  But still iTunes and the iPad were reporting photo usage as around 4GB.  Grrr
So I backed up my iPad, reset it to factory settings and restored.  Still 4GB being reported as photos, still an empty "recently deleted" folder, just the 25 photos I'd saved.  Huh?????
So I fired up Syncios - lo and behold it says there are about 2,300 photos in recently deleted.  But Syncios won't let me delete them and I can't see them on my iPad or on iTunes to delete them.  So what the **** do I do?????

  • No photos under iPhoto Library in finder

When I want to upload a picture there are no photos under the iPhoto Library in my Pictures place. In other words, where there was once an arrow to expand iPhoto to show all the photos, there is just the one folder called iPhoto Library. The effect is that if I click on that to upload it will upload my entire library. Where did the pictures go and how can I get them back in the library? Thanks.

Since iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Package File. This is simply a folder that looks like a file in the Finder. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
Accessing the Library via the Finder has never been supported on any version of iPhoto.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*For users of 10.4 and later* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
All of the above are a:faster and b: safer than rooting around in the folders of the Library.

  • How to delete albums from photos

Purchased a iPad Air at the w/e, loaded some pictures using iTune, now would like to delete the albums. What is the correct way of doing so

    Hey urbkuhl,
Thanks for the question. I understand you wish to remove synced photos from your device. The following article outlines how to do so:
    iTunes: Syncing photos
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
To delete synced photos and videos from your device
    1. In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
    2. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    3. Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
    4. Click Apply.
    Enjoy your new iPad Air!

  • Update of Thumbnails = deletion of ALL photos in iPhoto???

iPhoto asked if I wanted to update my thumbnails, I clicked "OK" and then ALL of my photos in iPhoto disappeared.  Where are they? How do I recover them?

What version of iPhoto and system are you running?
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Automatic Delete all duplicate photos in IPhoto ?

How can I delete all duplicate photos in my I Photo ? I have 6000 photos with many duplicates.

Where are you seeing these duplicates? In iPhoto or via the Finder? If it's in iPhoto then try using Duplicate Annihilator. It can detect and identify duplicated image files that have been imported into iPhoto.
If it's via the Finder then it's very likely you don't have true duplicates like you think you do.
