Deleting all Clip Markers in a Sequence

Many of the clips in my sequence have Markers. I would now like to remove them all so my sequence is devoid of Clip Markers.
Mark>Markers>Delete All will happily remove any +Sequence Markers+ I have, but will not remove any of the +Clip Markers+. Is there a way to delete all clip markers from the sequence. Preferably, I would like to remove them from the sequence while leaving them in their original master clips.
Thanks,
Martin

This function will delete all the markers in ONE clip, but not all the markers for all the clips.
Does it, in the process, also remove the markers from the master clip as it appears outside the sequence?

Absolutely.

  • How to auto fade or dip to black for many or all clips?

I'm working on credits, 50+, and page down is getting old fast. I would love to just select all and apply a dip or fade, any suggestions?

Select all clips, then go to Sequence > Apply Default Transitions to Selection. This assumes you've set your default transition and transition duration.
Can't remember if this is default (I think so), but the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl+Alt+Shift+D.

  • See the logged content for clip markers at sequence level?

I'm working on my first long form documentary, and I'm using a work flow a colleague recommended – although he typically works with Avid and an older version of Final Cut Pro, so there may be some areas where this work flow is broken.
I've vascialleted a bit, as I've recently began to use Prelude to do the logging instead of Premiere Pro. Obviously logging in PL is quite a bit easier as it's set up with some handy keyboard shortcuts for doing so. Basically I'm adding clip markers to interview stringouts that contain transcriptions of what the person is saying at that point of the interview.  Now that Premiere Pro CC allows me to navigate to the clip makers the same way I could navigate to the sequence markers (Command-Shift-M for previous and Shift-M for next), it's pretty handy and it makes sense to use clip markers since they'll always be there no matter what sequence you put the source footage into.
So, great. All makes sense right? Well...turns out I've run into a bit of a problem.
There is the handy Markers pallete (windows>Markers) which highlights the text I captured for a specific marker, making it easy to navigate or search for a certain question or answer in a given interview. Trouble is, that only shows content at the sequence marker level. While I can navigate to a clip maker within a timeline, the Markers pallette stays blank for that clip marker. Which, is kind of a show stopper in terms of navigating the logged clip once it's in a sequence or stringout. I can still see what's in that clip marker if I hover the mouse over it and wait for a tool tip to show up, but that's not exactly optimal.
I'm thinking about going back to logging in Premiere just to keep the sequence level markers easily searchable at the stringout level. Any feedback? I'd certainly prefer to do the logging in PL, but I'm dealing with a lot of footage here, and I need at least the stringouts to be easily searchable.
Mind you, my colleague isn't a Premiere Pro power user, so he may have recommended a workflow that isn't exactly optimal for the tool. Any insight would be welcomed, but if there were some way for the Markers pallete to show the content of the clip marker, I'd be off and running.

Well, I figure if I can get to both the sequence markers and clip markers with command shift M and the like, I may as well be able to see the content for said marker if content exists. My work flow here is probably a bit of an anomoly – but this is my first long form project, and it being a documentary, you can imagine that there are a lot of assets and stringouts to keep track of. Any shortcuts to getting to the logged content is a huge help throughout the entire process.

  • As step in Task Sequence : Deleting all existing partitions on harddrive before partitioning, is it possible? Thoughts appreciated

    Everyone,
I have just received a load of 100+ computers off corporate lease for the school district I manage, and while imaging them in SCCM, i've noticed that of those 100 computers about 7 or 8 have failed during the task sequence.  Just on a guess, I tried
booting up off a windows 7 disk and physically deleting all partitions and THEN running the task sequence it fixes the issue and the task sequence jumps off/completes without any problems (which there's only been one main partition and one system reserve partition).
My question to you all, I want ALL computers that run my task sequences to completely wipe ALL partitions...and then go forward with the standard partitioning step that's in the task sequence (Step name Partition Disk 0 - BIOS, where it sets up a 350mb system
reserve and then a 100% remaining space NTFS windows Primary partition)
Can someone point me in the right direction?  I feel this is a simple process to add to my task sequence, but I wanted to confirm with some of you that might can ease my anxiety a bit first.
    Thanks so much!

as above, you could even use a prestart command to achieve this before displaying the task sequence however i'd be VERY careful about doing so, as you could end up wiping out a whole estate of computers without intending to if you deploy it to the wrong
collection or wrong query, far better to keep the logic in the task sequence as a scripted diskpart step (or two)
you can download a diskpart script and view the associated step in the
    following task sequence

  • Command for move all clips at right of deletion into the deletion gap ?

    Hi,
Having used razor tool to cut out a portion of a video/audio, rather than then have to highlight all clips etc to the right and drag into this space to snap to last clip, is there a command to do this ?
Such would save having to zoom out, until able to see all clips and timeline, select the lot, then zoom in again to be sure of dragging across the small gap created in my last edit.
    Envirographics

    Thanks Harm,
not the most obvious sounding solution, sounds more like a deletion command ! and as for the word Ripple ? ! ...
r/click 'refill from right' seems more user friendly but it does the job and many thanks to you.
I shall remember it for the odd name.

Every cut I make in the sequence window leaves one remaining frame from its deleted neighbor clip. How do I turn off this feature - It is driving me mad.

Here are 3 pictures detailing what I'm experiencing.
Picture 1; clip 1 tail frame.
Picture 2; clip 2 head frame.
Picture 3; clip 2 head frame is now tail frame of clip 1.
does this help describe what is happening? Basically every cut I make
leaves an unwanted frame as a ghost of the missing cut.

  • Preserve clip markers in sequence

Clip markers do not get transferred to sequence markers when I edit a clip into the timeline. Or is there any way to achieve this??

Is there any reason why clip markers do not get preserved in sequences?
They're just two different kinds of markers, with different uses.
Ironically, Sequence Markers will show up as Clip Markers when you nest.

  • Clip markers to chapter markers

    Hi all.
Is there a way to take clip "chapter" markers and turn them into timeline chapter markers?
    Thanks.

    Jeremy,
Assuming you are talking about replicating markers from clips to timeline (or vice versa), and you've made a lot of markers, here's a tip:
If you are transferring markers from clips to timeline, highlight marked clips by selecting them in the timeline. When the marked clips are highlighted, pressing (shift)(up arrow) and (shift)(down arrow) jumps to next and previous markers, respectively. This will position the playhead to mark the timeline - however, you will have to de-select the clip in order to set the timeline mark. You can then press (shift)(cmd)(A) to "deselect everything," followed by pressing (M) to mark the timeline.
It's a bit awkward, but you could do this with the following keystroke sequence:
+(Make the Timeline the active window (cmd)(3) and place the playhead to the left of the first marker to transfer.)+
    1) (cmd)(A) selects all clips in the timeline
    2) (shift)(M) jumps to the next marker in the selected clips
    3) (shift)(cmd)(A) deselects all clips in the timeline
    4) (M) marks the timeline at the position of the current clips marker
    Repeat steps 1 to 4.
Going the other direction (copying timeline marks to clips - important if you've accidentally marked up the timeline and realize that when you start ripple deleting clips that your down-stream marks will all go out of sync) is much easier and faster:
+(Make the Timeline the active window (cmd)(3) and place the playhead to the left of the first marker to transfer.)+
    1) Highlight the clips to be marked.
    2) Press (shift)(M) - this jumps to the next mark whether it is in a clip or the timeline.
    3) Press (M) to mark the timeline.
By alternately pressing (shift)(M) and (M) (steps 2 and 3), you can rapidly copy timeline markers to highlighted clips.
By default, markers placed in the timeline are NOT "chapter" markers. To set them as chapter markers, press "M" twice - once to set the marker, and a second time to open the Edit Marker dialog. In this dialog, you can add Chapter, Compression and Scoring Marker attributes to markers. You can also change existing markers (by pressing "M" once while the playhead is parked exactly on a marker using methods mentioned above).

  • Some questions/findings - Merged Clips, Markers, Match Frame, Source Clips etc

    Hi,
Working on my second long form project with CC (1 hour + timelines) and am encountering some problems with merged clips.
Problem 1 - So I do all my markers in a video clip (which can take hours).  I add names and copy the names into the markers notes.  I then merge the clips (video with sound) and the markers are there but all the notes have gone.  This doesn't always happen but it happens enough for me to have been looking for answers as its completely wasted time.
Problem 2 - More variations of lost markers.  In some cases I have put markers on sound clips.  Merged with video and the markers are there but all names and comments have gone.
Problem 3 - Merged clips - I am sharing the project with another editor (I am PC based and he is Mac based).  I set everything up so he has a mirror of my files and folder structure.  I send him new edits (timelines) and some merged clips work fine sometimes the audio goes offline.  This can also be reversed.  He sends me edits and sometimes the merged clips work fine and sometimes the audio disappears.  The real problem comes when you have then lost your markers on the video and audio and end up having no idea where the in points are as the match frame doesn't work on merged clips.  It only matches the frame on the merged clip and not the source clip.
Problem 4 - Clips going offline but they are online.  I get this quite often, mainly with sound (recorded on a zoom recorder - STE-001.wav etc).  Quite often it will say the clip is offline so I click to "locate" and it directs me to the file but it has seemingly not linked it.  So CC knows where the clip is... I just have to select it and its linked.  Why does it come up as offline/locate when it's in exactly the same place it was and the CC path takes me straight to the clip?
    What I need to be able to do with merged clips is;
1 - I need to be able to easily get to the source material for each merged clip.  Say for example I put a merged clip in a timeline.. and the audio has seemingly gone offline.  If I click the audio I would like to go back to the merged clip and then select if I need to go back to the audio or video for said merged clip and for match frame to be frame accurate on the audio and video.  I used to live by this in Avid.  Reveal in project is great but again it takes me to the merged clip and not the source clips.  Surely there is a way to get back to the source clips Audio/Video?
2 - I need to have a way that marker information will not get lost in merged clips... EVER!!!  I really can't pinpoint why it happens or when it happens but it happens, too often.  Some clips it seems fine and then all of a sudden the info is gone.  Once it's gone there's no way of getting it back.  I need to be able to 100% save the marker info.  Even if it's as a separate word doc or something.  A documentary with maybe 20-+ hours of interviews... all logged nicely via markers and then for me to randomly lose marker info is absolutely not up to scratch.  PLEASE SORT IT
Finally.... I am still posting in the PP forum.  is there not a dedicated CC forum yet?  I couldn't find it.. am I missing something?  Makes it real hard in Google if I have to go through PP posts as well.
    Thanks

This bug is NOT FULLY FIXED.  I'm on a tight deadline so i'm not looking very hard online to see if i'm alone - so please forgive me for just posting here...
I'm using CC7.2.1 it's 1/21... very grateful that match frame FINALLY works on merged clips, but, again, this insert/overwrite bug is only PARTIALLY FIXED.
Insert/overwrite with merged clips on 3-point edit now works, but ONLY when cutting in BOTH merged video+audio... if you're just trying to cut in the audio from a merged clip using a 3-point/4-point edit via hotkey, it's a no-go.
I, for example, needed to re-cut in audio under some video with effects on it. So, I unpatched the video source completely and patched source audio tracks 1-4 to the appropriate sequence tracks. Upon hitting insert or overwrite multiple times, nothing responds. The only way to cut anything in from the source (merged clip) was to patch the source video back into the timeline on an unused video track, then cut ALL the tracks from the source in, I then had to delete the video track re-link the now free audio to the original video. Not a big deal, but annoying enough & waste of precious time on tight deadline.
So, yeah, I have a workaround but is still not appropriate to have a core function not work properly. Especially when I'm working with a very complicated timeline.
That said, thanks for keeping on top of our gripes, Mark.

  • How to delete a strange track in my sequence?

    Hello!
    My question:
I have a sequence which works fine as far as the result I need, but what is strange is that there is a track that looks empty, but it is not empty, and when I try to delete it, all the tracks around get also deleted.
Can anybody please tell me what that "empty" track is and how can I delete it without messing up my sequence?
Have a look at my screenshot here:
    http://www.chesskingtraining.com/TempDeleteLater/FCPproblem.jpg
    Thanks and best wishes!

    Thank you, Luis!
I will study more the "primary storyline" and pay attention to it more in my edits. I have edited hundreds of clips successfully (happy with the results), but never noticed this.
What I do not understand is that in my situation
    http://www.chesskingtraining.com/TempDeleteLater/FCPproblem.jpg
my "primary storyline" is totally empty.
I have tracks for the background, green screen and titles, shouldn't one of them at least be on the storyline? How can I get a "clip" onto my main storyline? It looks "funny" to have an empty storyline.
I also don't understand why there are "gaps clips" in the storyline right in the middle, where nothing has been edited. To my main interview I only add an intro and outro, but nothing at the middle. If you have some suggestion on how to get rid of the "mistery gaps", I would appreciate it.
Again, all is fine and my video edits come out perfectly, it's just that my sequence looks "messy" and disorganized.
    Thanks and best wishes!

  • Making sub-clips in a multicam sequence

    Hi,
I used two cameras conducting while conducting an interview, and I'd like to be able to make sub-clips of the parts I want to use of my multicam sequence.  Is that possible?
    Warm regards,
    Bob Fischer

I have a similar issue. I have a two camera shoot that I have synched up. I haven't done the multicam edit yet.
It is of a museum exhibit opening gala. So, there is a linear timeline of singers, speakers, singers, speakers.
    < Clip One --singers -- singers -- speaker -- speaker -- speaker -- singers -- singers -->
    < Clip Two --singers -- singers -- speaker -- speaker -- speaker -- singers -- singers -->
What I need to do is to take the footage - 35 Minutes - and trim it down to 3 minutes. What I need to do is show singers doing one song (multicam) then fade out the audio, bring up b-roll footage and audio, bring back in singers, fade out singers and bring in speakers (singers as backround audio while speaker speaks) and - this important - speakers are part of the two clips that make up the entire multicam sequence.
So, I could multicam everything first and then use that footage as my basis for cutting, adding b-roll and cutting entire speeches, songs, etc.
Or, I could set markers in the original multiclip synched sequence marking the beginnings of each "event" I could use the razor tool and start hacking it up and sliding it around. Then resynch all cut clips from the two sequences and multicam from there.
    Is this clear at all?
    Thanks.

  • Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?

Is it possible to select multiple clips and create a sequence from each individually?  If you select multiple clips and select "New Sequence from Clip" it puts all of the clips into one sequence.  Is there an easy way to quickly perform this on multiple selected clips separately?

So now I *have* used Butler with PPro, and it works very well, here's an idea of how to do it:
    Import folder of clips
Ensure first clip selected in bin and sorted by Media Type
Most of these commands need shortcuts assigning - mine listed below
    Macro:
To create seq from selected clip:
      ‘New seq from clip’ (Shift+CMD+N)
    To duplicate this seq:
‘Reveal Sequence in project’ (Shift+F) - not strictly necessary as it will already be selected
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
      ‘Edit | Duplicate’ (Shift+CMD+/)
    To rename the duplicate
      ‘Enter’
Various keystrokes to rename as required
‘Enter’ - to make name stick
‘Shift+Enter’ - to reselect that sequence
‘Esc’ - to get out of editing name
    To change resolution of duplicate:
      ‘Sequence Settings’ (CMD+5)
‘Tab’ x 3 (to get to H Frame Size)
      ‘xxxx’ (to enter frame width)
‘Tab’ x 1 (to get to V Frame Size)
      ‘yyyy’ (to enter frame height
‘Enter’ x 2 as prompt will say previews will have to be deleted
To then find next clip ready for macro to run again:
      ‘Open in Timeline’ (Shift+CMD+O)
      ‘Match Frame’ (Shift+Spacebar)
      ‘Reveal in Project’ (Shift+CMD+F)
      ‘Window | Project’ (CMD+9)
‘Down Arrow’ - to select next clip
I tried it with Butler (manytricks.com - free trial, $20 to buy) and it worked a treat, takes about 3 secs per clip
AHK (for windows) is at autohotkeys.com and is free.
You could start making multiple macros - that would enable you to do grade / resize in middle of duplication - and then export etc, but I figure you can figure that out ;-)

  • Clip markers are gone??

Prior to CS6 I would use clip markers (on each video clip - not the sequence markers) to synch up multiple cameras in a sequence.  Now in CS6 they are gone.  Can anyone tell me where I cam find clip markers in CS6.
    Thanx in advance,
    Mel

By default, you can now only work with Clip Markers in the Source Monitor.
There is a keyboard shortcut that you can set to return the ability to add them in a sequence, however all other clip marker activity, including navigation, has been removed at the sequence level.
Please file a feature request to have Adobe restore what they took away, which is full clip marker functionality in the sequence.

  • Applying clip markers in CS6 stops playback

Pressing the 'M' key marks the timeline okay, but how do you mark individual clips on the fly?  In timeline, it does not mark clips at all. If I bring the clip into the source view, I can mark with the M key, but it stops playback. It also marks every instance of the clip in the same timeline.

    reindeer4 wrote:
Ok - I see how to add the Clip Marker functionality back.
Now is there any way to see those markers in After Effects CS6 via Dynamic LInk?
I do my audio in Premiere - and it would make things much faster if I could place markers in Premiere that I could then use in After Effects to decide where to trigger varied effects or place other media.
    Thanks
    Hi reindeer4,
Yes, clip markers are intact with Dynamic Link. Sequence markers are not supported, however. You must import a Premiere Pro project to After Effects for those.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Way to convert clip markers in FCP HD to an external text file?

I am using FCP Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 and wanted to know if anyone has a solution for converting text in marker fields to simple text for Word or other text editor? I am using the name field in markers that are used in a subclip in my viewer window.

    Yeah...
    Create a new bin.
Open the clip's or subclip's triangle next to it in the Browser to reveal the markers there.
Then drag them to the new bin. This creates subclips of these markers named the same...
Control click on the bin to open it in it's own window. Delete all columns you don't want to export.
With the bin open and active, choose file/export/batch list. This will send a text file out... if you don't neec all the columns, open it in excel to delete them, or 'hide' them in FCP by right clicking on the column name at the top of the bin...
    Open that file in Word.
    Jerry
