Deleting All Emails all at once, I just am too stupid to find it

I hope somebody can tell me I'm a dunce who has totally missed something obvious. I get over 50 emails a day. I have to delete them ONE AT A TIME! Then they go to trash and I HAVE TO DELETE THEM ONE AT A TIME AGAIN! I know there has to be a better way, I am just too stupid to find it. This is so irritating, I'm considering turning off the email unless I'm out of town or something. How do you empty the inbox ALL AT ONCE!?! Or at least the trash ALL AT ONCE??!!
If by some weird fact of programming blind idiocy, there is no way to do the most basic thing I am talking about, which is common to every phone email system on earth, would the wise programmers at Apple do an update tomorrow so that we can EMPTY THE INBOX IN ONE MOVE, PLEASE!!!!

A POP account is designed to be accessed with an email client such as Apple's Mail application on one computer or device only.
New messages received at the incoming mail server for a POP account are downloaded by the email client used to access the account with an option to remove messages from the server after being downloaded. Sent messages with a POP account using an email client cannot be stored on the server.
An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices with the ability to store all account mailboxes on the server - the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk mailboxes with each email client used to access the account and the ability to create additional server stored mailboxes with the email client used to access the account - with the exception of the iPhone's email client. You cannot create additional server stored mailboxes from the iPhone's email client but any additional server stored mailboxes created with the email client used on your computer to access the account will become available with the iPhone's email client automatically.
All messages with an IMAP account remain on the server until deleted from the server - there is no setting to remove messages from the server when received by the email client used to access the account. All server stored mailboxes are synchronized with the server automatically with the email client used to access the account.
Receive a new message with the email client used on your computer and read the message, when checking the account with the iPhone's email client, that message will be available in the account's Inbox mailbox and will be marked as already being read since the account's Inbox mailbox stored on the server is kept synchronized with the server automatically. Delete a message from the account's Inbox mailbox with the email client used on your computer and this message will not be available when checking the account with the iPhone's email client. Send a message with the email client used on your computer and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox with the iPhone's email client automatically and vice-versa for all.
If you are accessing an IMAP account, instead of deleting all messages from the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's email client one at a time, you can delete all from the account's Inbox mailbox with the email client used to access the account on your computer and all messages will be automatically removed from the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's email client since all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server with the email client used to access the account.
Someone has a desktop at their office and a laptop when traveling or when away from the office or in your situation accessing the account with your computer's email client and with the iPhone's email client. An IMAP account provides for keeping all account mailboxes synchronized automatically between multiple computers or devices to access the account.

  • IPad iOS 8.2 still won't allow delete of ALL email messages at once?

iOS 8.2 still won't allow deletion of ALL email messages at once from my iPad? What could be the reason for this? The work-around solutions I see on Internet work erratically for me.
I'm an Android cellphone user so can delete all emails from my phone with a click or two. Is that a patent issue for Apple? There is no way to delete ALL email messages easily?

Had the same problem. There is an undocumented way under another thread and it works, but is clunky and very un-Mac-like.
The Apple thread that I got the undocumented answer from is:
Delete all email in Inbox iOS7
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5421295?start=15&tstart=0
    I've copied the answer below:
    From inbox edit
MARK ALL AS READ (for me and several others in the thread it only works, when I marked all as read)
    Highlight first email
    Hold move button
Try to unhighlight first email (probably won't )
Still holding move button pull down on mails  and then try to unhighlight first email again
    This time it should
You will notice the inbox seems frozen as move is no longer highlighted and individual emails will not highlight if you touch them
Wait May take a minute or two depending on how many emails are in your inbox but they will move to the right side
    Then just touch trash

  • How to sync all email accounts AT ONCE in N8 Symbi...

    Hi to all
There is any way to sync all email accounts AT ONCE in Nokia N8 with Symbian Belle ?
Because syncing one by one is very unpleasant (I have 12 email accounts on my phone). Is there a way to sync all accounts at once?
    hank you for your attention

iSync does not synchronize mail at all, and .Mac Sync synchronizes only mailbox structures, rules, signatures and smart mailboxes, not mail content.
To 'synchronize' mail, you must use IMAP technology, as opposed to the far more common POP3 standard for incoming mailboxes. The OS X Mail program supports IMAP account creation, as do most electronic mail providers, including AOL and Yahoo. Notably, Google does not support IMAP with it's Gmail product: it's probably best described as a slightly whacky, non-standard POP3 offering, and is not a good choice if you want to 'synchronize' you mail among two or more clients.
This sort of POP3 vs IMAP and mail synchronization discussion occurs frequently in the Mail & Address Book forum, and there are several 'experts' there—listed typically in the Top Rated Members in Forum list in the right sidebar—who help users all the time. You can search the forum by subject or their user name, or browse and look for related subjects or their answers, to get a better idea of how to deal with these issues. You can find that forum here:

  • All emails stopped being sent - they just disappear with no record

Can't figure this one out.  My wife can no longer send any email from Mail (5.2/Lion) from any accounts.  All servers work, and she receives all mail in both accounts – one a mac.com/iCloud and the other on our own company service, both IMAP.  Just cannot send from any.  When you compose an email, everything goes as normal until you hit the send icon. Then the mail just disappears as it normally does, but no 'whoosh', no activity progress bar, no copy in Sent, no copy in Draft, mail not received by person intended. It just seems to have disappeared as it it never happend.  It started a week ago for no apparant reason – no new SW installs or updates, nothing.
This is her extra computer – all works fine on the main work one, a Mac Mini, and the IMAP syncing works as expected on the MBP.  All email work done on the Mini is reflected on the MBP as it should be.
What I've done (to no avail): repaired permissions, rebuilt all the mailboxes, deleted and reinstalled all servers, deleted mail .plist file, deleted and re-installed accounts.  Results still the same.  I tried to set up the supplied Mail logging script but get an error that it can't be run so do not have any logs I can refer to.
Her machine: MacBook Pro 15, late 2008, 6 gig ram, 10.7.4.
I could really use some help with this if anyone has some suggestions. Scratching my head...

  • How do I "Select All" email messages at once for deletion rather than touching each one?

I receive many emails each day and many of them I would like to delete all at once.  But the only way so far I have been able to figure out how to do that is to manually select each and every one of the emails I want to delete then hit delete.
That is fine when I only have 5 or 6 email to get rid of, but I regularly have anywhere from 50 to 200 at a time to delete.
I cannot locate a "Select All" option in any of the menus.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

  • How do I delete 1000 emails all at once?

Somehow during one of my syncs, instead of getting the one email message I tried to send from my PC to the phone, all my emails got synced. I would just like to delete them all, without having to select them one at a time.

Email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iTunes sync process.
If the account is an Exchange or IMAP account, all server stored mailboxes are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account. If the account is an Exchange or IMAP account, you can delete all messages from whichever server stored malibox with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account, or do this at the server level for the account via webmail access using a browser.
If the account is a POP account, this means the messages remain on the server. Delete the messages from the account's Inbox mailbox at the server followed by deleting and recreating the account on your iPhone.

A mass selection or multi-conversation select would be a very nice feature to have.  I, like others, receive automated text notifications from motion sensors, emails, etc.  Each message comes from a unique number so it's not as simple as deleting a single conversation.  PLEASE, Apple, consider what I would think would be an easy addition to the functionality of the iOS.

  • How to Delete an iCloud Account's Email (Not the Whole Account, Just the Email)

    Hello,
A couple of years ago, before iCloud was iCloud and was actually MobileMe, I created my own email on it (an @me.com email) and have had it ever since. Even after it became iCloud, i've kept my @me.com email address and have it to this day. I've used it ever since I created it; however, I absolutely hate using it now, and I really want to just get rid of it. I constantly receive spam messages on it, and I have found Gmail to be a much better email service compared to iCloud. I have been trying to figure out how to delete the email itself and not the whole iCloud account; however, I find it very surprising that I haven't been able to find much information about this at all. I know how to delete the whole iCloud account, but all I want to delete is the email. Is there any possible way to do this? Or is my only solution to delete the whole iCloud account? If I deleted the whole iCloud account, would it affect my Apple ID in any way? If I deleted my iCloud account and it does not affect my Apple ID, then would it be possible for me to delete my iCloud account and create a new one without the email?
Currently, I only have an iPod Touch 4th Generation running iOS 5.1.1 (I know. It seems very outdated nowadays. ). I also have a Windows 7 computer that I use to access icloud.com, but I don't have the iCloud program actually installed to it.
Thanks in advance and please help!

Sorry, but I believe there is no way to properly answer your question. Please start a live chat with Apple for assistance as i believe so their the only ones with the power as so, your email is used for recovery, purchase, and more!If it so changed, you'd need to restart your device, also, your best bet is to just to contact apple also.Didn't help?Sorry!Theres really no way...

  • I want to delete my email on my icloud

You can't delete the email service, but you can just remove the email account from your computer and devices and thereafter won't be getting that email.

  • IPhone deletes MobileMe email on its own

I first noticed the problem last week. I open up Mail on my iPhone, it checks Mobile Me for new messages, they start to download and I saw a number of emails fleetingly appear before my eyes and immediately thereafter vanish without a trace. Today it had to be the most important email I was waiting for didn't it? And it was. I saw it briefly, again for all of a second, and then it was gone forever.
No trace of the emails to be found in Trash or Junk. Gone.
I found another, closed thread relating to Yahoo Mail and people who encountered this error. But this was Apple's Mobile Me service. I've even checked my mail via me.com, no luck. It's like the message never existed but I know it did.
Ideas? Help? And why did it bypass the trash for goodness' sake? If it had dumped it there because of some bug I could have rescued it. But to wipe it totally? Man, that's one nasty bug.

No. I was accessing my me.com email nowhere else at the times this happened, as it has happened again since my original post above. I have switched off email on my iPhone until this is resolved, I can't afford to have emails going like that.
And bear in mind, whether you access elsewhere or not is somewhat irrelevant when talking about MobileMe accounts as they are supposed to keep in sync, meaning if I download an email to my MB Pro it will appear in my inbox on iPhone or iMac as well. Unless of course you move or delete the email, which I didn't.
Before switching off email on my iPhone as an emergency response I tried changing the settings to confirm deletions before going ahead. That was completely ignored by the iPhone, which went ahead and deleted another email all on its own thereafter.
I have never had the problems with emails other have had before now. Could an installed third-party app impact on the Mail app in any way at all? I have installed a few apps along the way but was thinking, could something installed in the past fortnight, say, be a cause?

  • HT201342 iCloud email seems to be working but darned if I can find a way to delete the old emails off it ... can you help please?

Have iCloud email set on ipad and PC but cannot delete and old emails received through icloud.
How do you delete old emails ... I just get a line through them but they never delete.     Thanks

Spoke to my provider and advised that the email I have with them is a POP3 account, incoming mail is POP but outgoing mail is SMPT so have 2 servers and it seems like the Icloud will only recognize a single server.
iCloud does nothing for external email accounts provided by another company.
Only your @icloud.com (or @me.com or @mac.com) email address provided by Apple has anything to do with iCloud.
Issues related to non-iCloud email accounts should be directed to the company providing the email account.

When I Delete an email from the pc,  does not delete the email from the iPad.  I'm not able to find a setting to fix this.  Does it mean I have to manually delete the emails from the iPad?
Thank you in advance for your help.
